Shivadya Resort & Spa - Luxury hotel in Manali, Luxury Resort in Manali

I am writing this review quite late as I stayed at this hotel in May 2023 with my family; I couldn't write a review just after I had stayed at the place due to various reasons. I had booked my stay using Goibibo and now after so many months, I can't write a review on Gibibo, but I thought it is important to share my experience as it may be useful for others.

I have to give it to the designer & the owner that the hotel is built really beautifully. The entire place is designed in a very traditional way and it is also very well maintained. Every corner of the place is kept completely clean including the rooms. The hotel looks very classy and luxurious. The location is also very good as it away from the hustle and bustle of Managing with beautiful surroundings.

The problem starts once you move beyond the superficial. The hotel seems understaffed; it was just 4 - 5 people that we found everywhere during our stay, be it in the rooms or at the restaurant. Once during dinner, we had to wait about 10-15 mins just to order our food as there was no one there. Then comes an even bigger problem of the food itself. The food at best can be described average (some of the things are even below average). The menu is very small and the quality and taste is sub standard. I paid 5 star prices and therefore, I believe it is quite natural to expect value for money.

Last but not the least, I must say that while the staff was polite at all times, but there was no effort made by anyone whatsoever to ask (even if just out of courtesy) that what is it that my family and I didn't like or found lacking, forget about doing anything about it.

Overall, I would rate my experience to be just about average (2.5 / 5) and it is not a place where I would want to go again.

A great place in the lap of Himalaya. You will definitely get immense peace & tranquility here. Architecture is phenomenal, food is delicious, host is caring, environment is peaceful.

A classic resort to enjoy your valuable time as vacations in hill station. Property and food makes you feel homely. It's totally worth it spending your time and money in this resort. ️

I have stayed with my sister and our four children at this amazing resort in May 2022. Breathtaking views, coziest luxury rooms, and simple, authentic, and down-to-earth owners who host breakfast; enquire about the well being of their guests and whose aim is to provide a spiritual and meaningful vacation for all who enter their sacred space and place. Rare in a world filled with commercial tourism. We have beautiful memories we and our children will treasure for ever. Thank you so much. Cant wait to visit this heavenly place again.

We stayed at this resort a few weeks ago and were impressed by Ritesh Sood's thought and passion in creating this "handcrafted" place. The views were breathtaking and ideal for someone who likes being close to nature. We also very much enjoyed talking to Ritesh and Dev and learn more about the local cuisine and Himachal Pradesh. Their hospitality was very touching and here, I must mention Dev who went to great lengths to have a ramp made there and then for my disabled sister. Great experience overall.

The property is located little far away from main city, food is satisfactory but i was taken aback when informed that SPAs are not functional, though it wasnt anywhere mentioned while booking. Summarily, the overall experience was good not great but not bad either.

Shivadya is a beautiful resort. The rooms are comfortable and aesthetically build, and the staff is extremely amicable. The services were perfectly on time. Even the property is well maintained. Highly recommended.

Nested in the valley, the views were excellent! The service was very good with the staff being very accommodating. The resort is ~ 30 mins from Manali, thus one can enjoy yet be secluded from the hustle bustle of Manali. Given iit's a boutique resort, the food is freshly made to taste and is of excellent quality. Don't miss having breakfast in the outdoors, a memorable experience. Will highly recommend this boutique resort to everyone!

We simply loved it here! My husband and me took a bike trip and this was heaven! Simply put, felt like home! Excellent home kind service. We were looked after extremely well. Gorged on apples peaches straight from the trees! It's beautiful and very tastefully done. Ritesh made sure we were comfortable all through. Breakfast in the garden amidst lovely blossoms and fruit trees was amazing! Ritesh's team of Dev Sanjeev and wonderful chef never once gave us a chance to feel otherwise. Warm and home cooked meals were enough to make our day. We loved the hospitality and warmth. Best part is the calm and quiet ambience and exceedingly 'home' feeling for a picky person like me! Their USP is all about the quietude calm around and warmth and it makes them special. Ritesh and his wife and never to forget his dad going out of the way to make us literally gorge on fruits. Thanks a ton Ritesh Neelam and Uncle! We loved it so much that we chose their other property at Tirthan Valley. Thank you for making our anniversary trip so memorable! The views were excellent! The service was very good with the staff being very accommodating. Will highly recommend this place to everyone. The rooms and toilets were very nice and tastefully done-up. The resort as a whole was very well maintained and clean.

We took 2 rooms with a beautiful sun deck overlooking huge mountains! Views are unbeatable. Our family included from age of 4 to 70 and shivadya was able to meet everyone’s expectations! Food was awesome! It’s 30 min drive from Manali downtown but the drive is picturesque. Btw they have a nice game room for kids. Overall highly recommended place no second thoughts. Ritesh and his staff were very good and kind!

This place was truely unbelievable. What a place. Terrific view, excellent host (the owners), and very good and well mannered staff. The rooms were very well done and the toilets very clean and well maintained. On the whole had a wonderful and memorable stay.

Our trip to Manali was made special because of our decision to stay in this amazing and mersmerizing place- Shivadya! There are no words to explain how much dedication and thought must have gone behind in curating this experience for every traveller who comes to stay at their place. Trust me, it’s the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a quaint and relaxing experience in the midst of mountains.

We stayed there for 3 night/4 days in November 2021 and it was an impromptu plan for my birthday but our stay has been one of my most memorable experiences so far. We would like to thank Mr. Ritesh and his brilliant staff for their efforts. So let me elaborate why this has to be the first choice incase you plan to visit Manali and want a luxurious experience in a budget hotel-

Location- This hotel is situated around 15kms from Manali main market but therein lies the beauty! You are away from the hustle bustle of the overcrowded hill station (“commercial holiday stay”) and yet you can access all the places you want to visit. The hotel staff is very proactive in ensuirng that every little need is taken care of. We wanted a bike for our travel and we got a Himalayan RE in no time and that too, in good condition. This hotel is a like a midpoint from places like Naggar castle, Roerich museum and on the other hand from old manali, mall road etc.

Food-This is perhaps the most important part but often while travelling we have to ignore the quality of food and compromise with our health. Shivadya’s food is homemade-without any extra oil but so delicious! We loved their food so much that we ended up having most of our meals here itself. They have an open menu and were ready to discuss with you to whip up any of your  favourite dishes! Although some travellers might not like this but I felt this made the experience even more unique!

NOTE: Please do try their ‘Himachali thali’. Its an experience in itself. Sadly, nowhere in Manali you will be able to find Himachali cuisine (only parathas, momos etc, albeit tasty but regional dishes should also be present) So trust me you will not be disappointed if you try their thali here but you have to inform them one day in advance. I had this for my birthday and it was the highlight of my day!

Hospitality- Shivadya’s owner Ritesh was telling me that they have been awarded as one of the best in small hotels but their hospitality is at par with the best in the industry. This is why I believe that it is not about the brand but the person behind the management. Their team is simply exceptional! Ensuring that hot water is their round the clock in bathrooms, always providing lukewarm water for drinking, keeping the room warm and cozy during winters and ensuring any request of yours is catered within minutes.

One of the best boutique resort around manali just half an hour drive, it's USP is it's nice location, it's calm peaceful eco friendly stay with unique design u have an option of choosing from it's different types of rooms it's spacious rooms with heated beds great view from the balcony they too have multi cuisine restaurant, they also have spa have ample space for parking, highly recommended Go for it value for money.

It's a beautifully located property near Manali with delicious food and caring staff and also pyare se uncle and auntie (owner). Must visit place with family.

Splendid! We had a memorable stay here with beautiful views of snowcapped mountains. The property is gorgeous, very clean and everyone is super hospitable and kind. It's 9kms from the hustle and bustle of Manali which was perfect for us! The apple trees around were such a treat with gorgeous apple blossoms on the tree. We travelled in March which is long away from Apple season. Will definitely try and come again during September-October!
We travelled with my little one year toddler who wanted to run all over - and the staff was very very friendly and kept playing with baby and having conversations with him:)
The food was super yum! Mutton RaRa and Grilled Himalayan Trout are not to miss! I think if we ate Trout on the first day we stayed, we'd probably ask for it everyday
The family who own the property are super sweet and kept giving us insights into the culture of Himachal. They were very hospitable. Boxy the doggo that belonged to the family there was super sweet and friendly. Definitely helped since we were having withdrawal symptoms from missing our babies back home!
It was like being at home, away from home:)

I stayed there for 3 nights. I place I would admire for years and recommend to everyone visiting Manali. Wonderful place and environment. Food and the response is really excellent. The service is really good and also the staff rocks

1. The place is more like a luxury home stay rather than 4-star property
2. Food is average and not too many options. No consistency in terms of the food options.
3. There are additional charges for technically everything
4. For New Year’s Eve food they did charge 4500 INR for two people, however not worth the money.

Highly expensive place. Even for bonfire you have have to pay price. Also it is like a home stay. You will have lot of restrictions. I would say if you are a young couple and want to enjoy. You will not like the place.

Fantastic views, great service and swiss ski chalet type architecture makes this place a must visit for families and friends!

17 kms away from Manali, very quiet place, basically it's a country side, there is only a few shops near this resort, it's service is very good, can spend a whole day just sitting at the garden and doing nothing

This is one of the best properties in Manali and much more than a five star! The personal touch of the owner Mr and Mrs Ritesh Sood makes it almost like a family Homestay where one yearns to go back again and again!

An absolutely beautiful place.with a serene atmosphere and warm hospitality.loved it completely.

1. This is an eco friendly resort with everything made of wood, Mud and Stones.
2. No paint is used which in itself is astonishing.
3. Purification of Himalayan water for drinking.
4. Limited rooms-so not over crowded.
5. It is positioned at splendid location amidst tranquility and peace of Mountains and situated 12 kms before Manali which makes it away from city hustle bustle and I absolutely loved my stay here.
6. Food however is another plus point! Freshly made everytime you order and the taste of everything literally everything was A1!
7. Buffet lovers will however be little disappointed as buffet is on situational basis here.
8. I desperately wanted to take spa session here but unfortunately the female wasn't available due to her ill health.
9. They own a very cute labra 'Boxter' who will definitely make your day with his cuteness.
10. Owners- Riteshji and Neelamji are humble and simple people who personally take care of their guests.
11. Wonderful hospitality/ courteous staff/ beautiful and clean property/ lip-smacking food/ a resort with multiple views.

I recommend anyone traveling to Manali to please stay at this place because

1. The Location-Its situated away from the crowdy place in the heart of Nature giving you the secnic view of mountains

2. The People-All the staff here were best in class, We stayed here for 2nights and all the members right from the owners to the cleaners were so well behaved and friendly and made us feel like Home

3. Amenites-It truly deserves a 5Star when it comes to the infrastructure of this resort

4. Food- We were on a 10 day trip to Himachal, but the food We had here was very tasty, healthy and We felt like Home it's food is one of it's kind. It's veg pulav and dry manchurian along with mancho soup is a must try,

A must place to Visit. Ms Neelam and the staffs (Mr. Sandeep, Mr. Barat and Mr. Chandar) very helpful and accomodated all our requests throughout our stay. Shivadya is absolutely very close to my heart. Ms. Neelam was never failed to be with us during our dinners. Even though she had to travel 80km per way to her school every day, yet she still came and joined with us. I really love her kindness and politeness. I felt like I was at home during my stay at Shivadya.

Very well maintained.the owner Ritesh takes very good care and attention to detail. The resort is very beautiful and has scenic beauty. The food is awesome and all the staff are very co- operative. The rooms are huge and sizeable.

This is one of the best luxury hotel I have stayed in Himachal Pradesh with each room having its own story. The owners are very simple and driven to provide best services possible. The hotel is surrounded by snow covered peaks and apple orchards.

Shivadya is how stays in Himalayas should be. Local architecture married with modern comforts. Handcrafted detailing with well thought out ergonomics. Staff and owners are really sweet and natural at hospitality. Going an extra mile is a hygiene for them.

Deodar forests, massive mountains in front and behind with acres of apple orchards abutting the campus wall is just what you are looking for if you've had enough of the noisy and crowded hill stations of India.

Lots of major and minor treks to the streams and waterfalls nearby.

The only downside is the size of the campus but in its own unique way it adds a homely charm to the stay.

Wish we had many more Shivadyas in Himalayas.
