Shree Parashar Rishi Temple & Lake

One of the beautiful temples with a temperate lake in the lap of Middle Himalayas at an altitude of 2,600 mt. Several times I have visited the place.the meadow looks different in every season. The beautiful architecture of this temple will surely take your attention with the stunning picturesque lake. The place will surely make you spellbound for a moment when the see the various snow peak ranges from the north aspect of this place, you can find yourself more with the nature. Do visit the holy place, enjoy without pollute the nature by throwing plastics anywhere. Save the environment, save our Mother Nature.

A thirteenth century temple dedicated to Parashar Rishi on the banks of Parashar lake. Beautiful artitecture but not in very good shape.

Beautiful place hidden in the lap of nature. It's easily reachable via road but if you are a Trek enthusiast, i would recommend to take the forest trail which is extremely brrath taking.

Serene place. Must visit for anyone who is exploring mandi district. Right next to the lake and 5 minutes hike from the road.

Awesome tourist place to visit. Its on top of the mountain. You can get snow experience depending upon season. Try to reach dere before 12 to enjoy the scenic beauty else it will be very quiet place in the evening and there are no hotel or guesthouse to stay. There are stalls of tea, maggie and rice at temple location and on the way as well.

Amazing place to be with your friends and family.
Car can reach till the point via mandi and takes 50km drive (2hrs apprx).

Beautiful peaceful place. In jan 2021 there was no snow here only on far mountains there waa lill snow.

The floating island in India. It changes location and floats on the lake. It is believed that no one has come to know how deep this lake is yet. As per people's this lake was created by Bheema one of the pandavs. The height of this lake is approx 2700 meters from sea level. In starting we were not sure about the weather but when we reached there all our expectations came true as it was more beautiful than our expectations. Road is not very good in last 20 kms, so keep in mind that perfect driver should be there to drive on that road

This lake is one of its own with a peice of floating land. The place and temple is dedicated to rishi prashar who was father of rishi vedvyas known for writing the epic mahabharata. Located at the heights of mandi district of himachal pradesh, lake is easily accessible by road transport throughout the year. It may get difficult during high winter season due to massive snowfall. However it remains attractive throughout all different seasons. Guest house is also available there.

In love with this place forever peace temple and nature you will get here and the memories you l take back. If possible do not go by road trek from baagi to parashar temple.

A very nice place to visit and I bet the atmosphere the cool breeze the lake will take your breath away and you wont feel like coming back. On the way you will find some amazing views and that you would like to capture for rest of your life. I travelled from chandigarh to Parashar lake. Stayed overnight 6 kilometer back from the lake. The way to parashar lake is from mandi. The road is too small to drive with width about similar to car width. Also the last 20 kilometers stretch from Mandi is very bad. The best way is to hire a jeep from mandi if you donot wish to drive in the that road. But the moment you reach the lake and temple, all your tiredness of the road trip will turn into freshness with the air and the ambience.

Had a trip from IIT Mandi during the summers. Takes bout 2 hours to reach. No complains; a simple visit to a beautiful and simple lake.
If you are wondering, no, you cannot go to the smaller island of the lake nor can reach the water body due to restrictions.

A great pleasant place to visit, has a nice camping site but best time to visit is between October to March. You can reach to prashar lake by road, ie by your own car or by bus, and can go by doing trek. Also while trekking you can witness a great view to be captured.

Extremely serene aspect of nature hidden in ranges of mountain. The lake looks awesome carrying a small piece of land in it. Inner piece of land moves around within lake and called as floating island. During Aug-Sep months the surrounding is colourful due to various colourful flowers and keeps you engaged all the time. Temple of Parashar rishi is old and possess that historic look.
Tea, Maggie, omelet and some light snacks can be enjoyed in available tapari-cum-hotels. One can enjoy the stay in temple with fundamental amenities. Washrooms are available for tourists and were in clean condition.

Ideal for a weekend family outing. Best option to reach is to get a personal vehicle as there's a nice motorable road till the destination.

Very nice experience. It is situated at about 2700 height from sea level. Moreover you cannot feel hot even during in summer because due to higher altitude the Wind blowing there is very cool and dry. When I visited this place it seems like heaven on Earth. You can't imagine the beauty of this place by Singh just images or videos if you want to explore the Himachal Pradesh then don't forget to visit this place. The beauty of this place cannot be described in words.when I visited for the first time I was shocked to see this place. The Lekh look very attractive moreover the temple is quite beautiful that enhances the beauty of this place. I suggest that if you want to explore India visit this place at least once.

The travel to this beautiful bounty of nature is thrilling and adventurous your driver need to be well versed with driving in hills as it is quite above the ground and had some improper paths but once you reach there you will be amazed with its beauty and scenery. Great weekend getaway from Chandigarh. Cool and peaceful place. You can either hike or go by road. Hiking starts from 'Bagi' village and takes around 4-5 hours through cool dense forests and Meadows. Approx distance 7-8km. You can stay up in the Camps or forest guest houses (req prior bookings).

This was quite a peaceful place, far from the hustle and bustle of people. We actually spent some amazing time there watching the sunset and sunrise.

It's a very beautiful place to be visited with your family, friends and children. It's also a tourist place. It attracts the tourists from other states and also from other countries. It is situated on the top of hill. Now the road conditions is very good. You can go there by bus, private cab or personal vehicle or by track. Here is also a PWD departments guest house.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 9,000 feet, the Parashar rishi temple is a tribute to Sage Parashar who meditated here several thousand years back. The place is holy to the locals of Himachal Pradesh and is usually covered in snow from the months of November till February. The remaining year sees lush greenery and is often a secret getaway for people who prefer quiet hill stations.

There are very few shops and guest houses near the temple and thereby the sanctity of the place is always maintained.

Oh jus superb place I jus love it. Be it winters summers rainy season. Its jus has its own scenic beauty for all seasons.

Beautiful place, trekking options available. Wonderful weather. Best time, during January with snow everywhere or in June with lush green beauty.

The temple next to the Parashar Lakex is a 2hr 30 min drive from Mandi. It is a must visit. Though the nomenclature deserves a change to pond instead of lake, the place itself is a combination of spectacular views all around. The drive for last 20 km is bit tiring but worth the effort. The place also presents a perfect example of ‘how to spoil a beautiful place by litter lovers’. The eating joints in the vicinity need to be closed. All eating joints should be 5 km away. There is no organised parking as well. Little dozer effort would do that. Some people may not like the spot due to overcrowding, which is increasing every year.

One of the best Place where I love to spend my time. The holly lake with it's mysterious floating island is one the best tourist place of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

There are two rest house of HP govt. And few home stay. Camping sites are also available here.
Mandir Saraaye or Dharamshala is located near temple only.

Enjoy sunrise and sunset.
In Winters you can enjoy Snowfalls too.

आज के आधुनिक युग में कई ऐसे प्राचीन प्रमाण मौजूद हैं जो विज्ञान की समझ से परे हैं। ऐसे प्रमाणों को दैवीय चमत्कार के सिवाय और दूसरा कोई नाम नहीं दिया जा सकता। ऐसा ही दैवीय प्रमाण देखने को मिलता है पराशर झील में।

इस झील के बीच एक भूभाग है जो अपने आप चलता है और अपनी दिशा बदलता रहता है। देवभूमि हिमाचल प्रदेश के मंडी जिला मुख्यालय से करीब 56 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। देवता पराशर ऋषि का मंदिर और प्राचीन झील का नाम पराशर ऋषि के नाम पर ही पड़ा।
पुराणों के अनुसार ऋषि पराशर ने इस स्थान पर तप किया था। यहां पराशर ऋषि का मंदिर तो 14वीं और 15वीं शताब्दी में मंडी रियासत के तत्कालीन राजा बानसेन ने बनवाया था, लेकिन झील के बारे में किसी को कोई जानकारी नहीं। माना जाता है कि जबसे संसार का निर्माण हुआ तभी यह झील भी बनी।
9,100 फुट की उंचाई पर बनी इस झील में पानी कहां से आता है और कहां जाता है किसी को कोई खबर नहीं, लेकिन यह पानी ठहरा हुआ भी नहीं है। इस झील के बीच में एक भूभाग है और यही भूभाग यहां किसी दैवीय शक्ति के होने का प्रमाण देता है।
पराशर ऋषि का मंदिर।
यह भूभाग एक प्रकार से पृथ्वी के अनुपात को भी दर्शाता है। यह भूभाग एक स्थान पर नहीं रहता बल्कि चलता रहता है। कभी यह एक छोर पर नजर आता है तो कभी दूसरे छोर पर। पराशर देवता मंदिर कमेटी के प्रधान बलवीर ठाकुर बताते हैं कि वर्षों पहले यह भूभाग सुबह पूर्व की तरफ होता था और शाम को पश्चिम की तरफ। इसके चलने और रूकने को पुण्य और पाप के साथ जोड़कर देखा जाता है।
हालांकि अब यह भूभाग कभी कुछ महीनों के लिए एक ही स्थान पर रूक भी जाता है और कभी चलने लग जाता है। कुछ लोगों ने इस भूभाग को रोकने का प्रयास भी किया था लेकिन वो इसमें सफल नहीं हो सके और देवता से क्षमा याचना करके माफी मांगी थी। इलाके के दर्जनों देवी-देवता इस पवित्र झील के पास आकर स्नान करते हैं। पुजारी देवलुओं के साथ देवरथों को झील के पास लाते हैं और यहां के पानी से देवरथों का स्नान करवाते हैं।

Wonderful place to be. Looks beautiful all around the year but I would advice if you wish to vist then it should be around Jan and Feb during snowfalls. During that time you will have to cover a trek of around 5 km from the point where last bus stop is.
But if you are traveling by personal vehicle then you can reach to the lake without treking except during heavy snowfall. I want a night stay you can get it for around 1000 rupees along with food. The food how ever may not be that good.
I you want to visit during summer vacations then June is a good time to visit.
