The beauty of this place is first of all old world charm, secondly very much in the city yet far away from the hustle.would love to visit again.

This is one of the incredible properties I have stayed in, the vibe of the place is wholesome and the staff is extremely warm and welcoming, Mr Vishal Jain has been very patient with us and is a soft-spoken person. I didn’t feel that I was staying at a homestay it almost felt like my home. I will highly recommend this place and this place will be my go-to place for my next stay.

This was our first experience with the people of Solan Retreat and our experience was very good, although when we reached, the room were not ready, but they did not delay, within half an hour all the rooms were given to us and our experience was very good. Staying at this place was absolutely delightful. The host and the support staff at the place are very warm and welcoming. The scenic beauty of the place and the serenity are worth experiencing.

We stayed at Jain House in end March enroute to Mussourie. The owner Mr. Vishal was superhelpful and the place while a lil difficult to find, but the way Mr Vishal explained was super easy.and once you reach there, the view and the location is perfect. You will love this place if you are into heritage properties. We had a great time.

Solan Retreat is a fabulous place for a comfortable stay. It was a Home away from Home with beautiful garden and swing for kids to enjoy. Mr. Vishal Jain is a wonderful host.

Solan Retreat is a fabulous property to stay at. Located at a prime location on the Mall Road, this heritage property offers all of the modern comforts you could ask for. It's quite literally a home away from home with all the warm vibes packed in. The host was very polite and answered all our questions about sites around Solan. Delicious homemade food was available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The garden and the view of the city from it were spectacular. The WiFi was reliable and I could comfortably work during the day.

The experience of staying here was pleasant. If someone is bringing his car then he has to be a good driver. This property needs further maintenance.

Stayed here recently and the service was incredible! It’s a dated property that has all the charm, the owner was soo incredibly helpful, sorting out transport, dinner and answering all of our questions! Two heaters were provided in the room, along with a very clean and thick blanket!
I highly recommend staying here!

This was a perfect vacation property. Made to feel you special and help you relax. The lawn at the property is the cherry on the cake with the most picturesque view of the Solan Valley.
The location is at the heart of the Mall Road and is easily accessible to the bus stations.

The owner is very hospitable, the chef is great in food. Try to have pav bhaji made by the chef there. It's not to be missed.

Very nice stay and awesome food.
Room was clean and comfy, very nice garden with awesome view. It is a lovely well maintained heritage property. Property owner Mr. & Mrs. Jain and Care taker Mr. Gopal were very helpful people.

A great and British era property in the hills of Solan, Just some stairs away from Mall road solan, Great owner (Vishal Jain) and caretaker (Gopal ji) is just beyond imagination as a great cook, If you go to Shimla, stay here and do up down to Shimla.you will enjoy more

The house as a whole, with its big size and number of rooms, can serve as a "retreat from the outside world" IF maintained properly.

1. As we checked in the house, given the grand nature of the property, we expected that there should be help who can carry the luggage from the cars to the rooms but there was only 1 person who was kind of responsible for everything, hence could not help us on this

2. You can see the pics on TripAdvisor or any other website, but do not get deceived by those, as the actual view is nothing like that. Due to lack of lighting in the house, it appears very shady as a whole.

3. The garden has a great view however as the evening closes in, number of mosquitoes increases exponentially and there are no arrangements to prevent mosquito bites, so get ready to carry your own medicines

4. While the rooms will appear to be very fancy on first glance, if you look beneath the beds, you can see spider webs spanning since the time this house was built. What this reflects - illusion of cleanliness and lack of proper care in maintaining the rooms

5. Condition of the kitchen and fridge is pathetic. It seems as if the kitchen slab has not been cleaned since months and the fridge was never cleaned

6. Food quality: mediocre food. The owner claims since only youngsters come to stay and they tend to roam around, not much focus has been there on food preparation. And I think it is that owners perception that the house is highly understaffed and I'll maintained.

7. Food price: owner charged 80 rupees for 2 slices of bread. Given the price this should have been a 5 star hotel with proper amenities but nothing of that sort as per my comments above.

Finally as we were leaving, we had booked the accommodation for 8 people and we did not count our 2 year old in that. Owner while we were leaving pointed it out in not such a good fashioned way and said it is a gift from my side. I mean seriously.this is the level at which people have dropped to run businesses

Had a truly wonderful stay at Solan Retreat. The host Mr Vishal Jain is an exceptional host and I was very well looked after by him and his staff. This is truly a home away from home that grows on you with each day that you spend there. The garden is the show stopper and I have had many cups of tea and meals sitting in the garden, gazing at the mountains all around and the gorgeous sunset. Will definitely visit again and probably stay longer to truly enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the staff who go out of their way to please us and also to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the place. Keep up the good work!

Great location, in the heart of the city, close to the Solan Railway Station and right on the Mall Road: busy market area but still away from the crowd and noise. It is located on the hill top looking over most of Solan and beautiful mountains around. Approach by road is great to bring your car or you can walk in a jiffy up the stairs if your legs are strong enough, that should be when you are going to the hill stations.

The house has quite a few rooms which are kept pretty well with larger than King Size Beds to relax over the neat and clean bed linen. The towels are dry cleaned and kept in bag to be kept clean. The bathrooms and the rooms are pretty clean.

The care taker as well as the owner looks after you very well to keep you comfortable starting from the time you book or are about to reach with directions.

We had a gala time enjoying the garden, the views, several cups of tea and sumptuous food prepared and served by the care-taker.

The perfect place to spend a weekend with family or friends, great ambience, best host. Would love to visit again.

Excellent place and service is also good. Big and clean rooms at affordable prices are available with all the facilities. The caretaker of this place is also a cook so you can eat homemade from here itself. It's basically a bunglow of jain sahab.

Probably the best property in solan if u want to spend some peaceful time, The care taker - Gopal ji would do anything to make ur stay comfortable. The villa is filled with history and u will feel that while u stay there.

Great place. Gopal Bhai is the caretaker and he is great. Vishal bhai is the owner and he is super helpful.

The place is some steps from mall road and accessible.

The home itself is one of the places you don't get to stay in often.
