Sonam Home Stay

One of the best homestays I experienced during my Spiti trip. The host family was very sweet and welcoming. The rooms were clean and spacious; the room in which I stayed had a beautiful view of the mountains. Overall, my winter stay at Sonam Homestay was very enjoyable.

Special mention - Zangmo, the cutest host ever.

I had a wonderful stay at Sonam Homestay in Kaza for three nights in peak winter. The hosts were very hospitable and friendly and provided us the best of the available facilities to ensure we were comfortable and warm in the sub zero temperatures. They provided us with delicious meals, hot water and cozy rooms with stunning view of the river and the mountains. Must Visit Place While in Kaza. Highly Recommended.be there for great river side view. Local Cuisine and most importantly Their Warm and wholeheartedly behaviour.they welcome guest with folded hands and you will feel homely at their homestay. Cherring Ji and his Mrs, Tashi and His Mrs, Sonam and Most Important member of their family Zangmo the cutest one also with make your trip memorable. One of the best family I ever met in my lifetime.

One of the best homestays ever. The host family is extremely helpful and sweet. The property is well maintained and the views-simply the best. Can have a panoramic view of the entire range right from the room window. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful stay.

Owner was VERY reluctant to take us because we were foreigners and would need to have us agree to take ourselves to hospital if we got sick. In the end we went to another hotel.

I booked this stay for the view, and it was great.
The Homestay is in new kaza, a little far from bus stand or main market.

If you are backpacking, then do take the route the locals take to head to the market side, a small walking bridge as it cuts the distance
The main road takes much longer and is also uphill walk, which can be tiring.

They have ample car parking space as well.
The hosts were good and can help with your local sightseeing as well.

We were told that in winters they also provide heaters and the room has traditionally wood heater installed.

Room is good sized and washroom was also neat and clean.

The love we get from them is next level. Aunty is so nice. Even the whole family helped a lot. We spent 3 nights and the food she made is unbelievable.

Rooms could have been much better. We didnot get river facing room. Also, there is no attached washroom which is the biggest problem

This homestay/guest house is outside the town centre, a 10-20 mins walk towards the outskirts of the small town, and it has 3-4 rooms with unobstructive views of the river! Completely worth the walk.
Two rooms have attached bathroom and two have common bathrooms, they are priced accordingly. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and had all the basic amenities. They have an outdoor seating area if you'd like to enjoy the river and mountain view from outside.
We stayed there for two days and it cost us around 1200 per person per day during off season; includes home cooked breakfast and dinner.
The people there are super helpful, Mr. Cherring and his wife Dolma were very welcoming, and he even dropped us off to kaza bus stand in the morning because of our luggage! If you'd like to go sightseeing, he can arrange a taxi as well.
After staying here, i would not wish to stay in a hotel in the town.

My advise: do stay in one of the homestays in the outskirts with a view when in kaza.

Amazing place to stay. The location is just amazing, the view from the room refreshes you. The rooms are clean and food is good. The owners are very sweet and they do best they can to serve you.

Awesome staying in the valley view room, going nearby the river and eating dinner with the whole hosting family.

The place was under construction when i visited. So the experience was not very nice. However one good thing was that it's location is very good. Also pet friendly

The best place to stay if you are in Kaza. The view from the valley side room is awesome. It is just next to the river. The hosts are very warm and hospitable. They have all the facilities in the room to keep you warm in the harsh winters, and that too at a very reasonable price. We had our dinner together with the family. Food was really good (specially the chutney) and you can experience the local life. They provided us with every help that we asked for, be it hot water or cab service.

What a place to stay and what experience with the family.

They have water for you, warm water separately and good cooked food, home stay.
Please do not expect a dhaba like food, it's a homestay, they make food like they eat it.

Likely the best river view in Kaza. The attached washroom is under construction, so I take a star off for that. Otherwise, a very good option.

Great views from the valley side room. The hosts are warm and welcoming. They took every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
At the time of our visit they had an arrangement of two common washrooms. If you can get over that then I would recommend this place as an economical & value for money place to stay.
