Spectacular escape nested in the valley of Tirthan. Beautifully made and maintained property by the lovely couple and their super hard working team. The view is just unbelievable and the food is even better. Make sure you play ball with Missi, the cutest puppy ever.

We were delighted with the place. And the couple that owns and runs it. Christopher and Shefali. We spent some time with them and enjoyed their company. Overall We had a wonderful stay there. The rooms were nice, comfortable and aesthetically designed. The food was pretty good. The smoked trout was gourmet level and delicious.
It was most interesting and entertaining to chat with Christopher and listen to him sing folk songs beautifully. The staff made us feel at home and gave us excellent service. We hope to come again with the family. Sajidarjuna and Niloufer

This review is specially for the Garlic Trout on their menu. Me and my husband recently had a wholesome meal on our last day in tirthan and oh boy! We wished we had visited earlier - we would've definitely had more than one meal there. We had their chicken coriander soup, pasta and walnut brownie - which were delicious too - but the trout took first place. On the down-side the food took way longer than expected to prepare considering we were the only two people occupying a table. But when the food arrived we were in love. Apparently when we told our host (Sunshine Himalayan Cottage) that we were visiting THTH for lunch they too said their food is great. So anyone going tirthan - this place is a must visit!

Whatever I say about this place, will be an understatement. Christopher and Shefali, the epitome of love and warmth, embraced us as one of their own. Within the enchanted haven, Manav's pizzeria beckoned us, a haven for the art of taste. It became our sanctuary, where we could unleash our creativity, immerse ourselves in the beauty of the surroundings. The breathtaking view, a perfect 10/10, captivated us all. The melodic river whispered its secrets, while vibrant bugs and fireflies adorned our nights. Grateful hearts and timeless memories became our cherished companions on this unforgettable journey. This place is so perfect, so beautiful and I hope to have the opportunity to visit again, and again, and again. And then one more time

It's a hidden gem property for all the nature lovers. It's gives you a jungle house vibe completely where the hosts Christopher and Shefali are the cutest people I have met. The service is pretty great as well. Just remember you have to give food order in pretty advance to make sure to get it well. I feel they can look for renovating the rooms a bit more as some of the things are not upto mark like pillows quality and extra bed that was provided. But overall if you want some off time this is your place.

Everything about the Himalayan Trout House was excellent. First, the hosts, Christopher and Shefali, are incredibly hospitable, warm and fun people. Second, the food is AMAZING — from the cheese omelettes and poha for breakfast to the Indian lunch buffet to the trout platter or fried chicken or sizzlers for dinner, every single dish was absolutely delicious. Third, the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed and the staff is very helpful and ready to help make your stay even more comfortable. And last but not the least, the location of the Himalayan Trout House is perfect with some excellent fishing spots at just a walking distance. Christopher and the regulars are always ready to give you more advice and information when you gather every evening around the bonfire in the gazebo (and if they are in the mood, you might be treated to some great live musical performances). We thoroughly enjoyed are stay here and are sure to come back.

You can not find a better place for an amazing stay. The food, crowd, accommodation and locale is really really great. Christopher and Shefali are are fantastic hosts.

Exceeds expectations. Wonder this little jewel is rated as a 2 star hotel. Because the rooms, the food, the service is all 5 star.

Anyone who plans on going for a few days should keep extra few days in the plan as you cannot help extending your stay.

The property is located in a wonderful alcove with a pristine mountain ridge and river view. Location. Location. Location.

Perfect idyllic village with low noise pollution yet well connected to everything within hours.

The less i say about the food the better because theres not enough in the vocabulary to descibe the AWESOME taste and variety. Garden Fresh gets a new definition in their kitchen.

The rooms are luxurious, lovely tasteful interiors and all the technology to stay warm. I could live in the bathroom itself. Lol. Comfort gets a new definition. Attention to a travellers needs has been designed to the milimeter.

4 friends met after 40 years, we have all returned with heavy hearts as none wanted to leave. And we will go back again for certain.

The hosts chris and shefali treat you like gods. Personification of the indian tradition of " athithi devo bhava ". Never intrusive give you lots of space yet always there if you need them.

They are also very well connected to the authorities and the locals in the region so if youre guests of THTH, people in the village treat you kindly as well.

I can write a book on the place so instead of spoiling the experience i am going to stop here and say if you have not been here you would have missed something special in life.

The fish was fresh. Taste was good but could have been a little better. Finding Kasundi (mustard sauce) was a pleasant surprise.

Loved the aura of this place.owner is very calm in nature and hospitality of this place is amazing.

This was my 3rd visit to HTH with my wife we weren't staying there we went there for our supper, there open sitting area is very similar to the blue cafe of mississippi just amazing. Great vibe, excellent food and appreciable service! I think this place is Managed by wonderful couple didn't get a chance to interact with owner this time but i'll save it for the next visit. These people i am sure they've overseen the development and expansion of the precinct into what it is today: a thriving cafe, a historic trout house, and a hotel.

Sorry but one complaint or rather a feedback: I met a guy this time working on his macbook when i entered the place with my wife i never saw him in my previous visits. So i found him a bit rude when i asked him why do we have to pay extra 5% charge if we're paying through Paytm wherein other are not charging a single penny? He said i don't know if others are charging or not but we charge, i already had a bad day as i lost my wallet and that tone wasn't right It was just a question and our right to ask that why we're paying extra. I think that guy should drop his conceited attitude while interacting with customer's. Later he explained me why they're charging and also helped me with free wifi access, so that brings down everything to Zero but still these experiences leaves a pugnacious image.

This is a really pretty place, just on the road, 3-4 cars can be parked here inside the boundary.

They have restaurant open for all and 8 rooms for staying.

When we visited thier kitchen was closed but they were so sweet and let us roam around in the property looking around, clicking pictures.

It is on my list to book for my next visit

Come here for the conversations with the hosts. Come here for the cozy comfortable rooms. Come here to relax. Come here for the best wood fired brick oven pizzas.

The Himalayan Trout House is an outstanding place to stay and enjoy the best food in and around Tirthan Valley, the owners Christopher and Shifali are wonderful people and run it just the way it should be. I had initially gone just for a couple of days but ended up hiring a bike and going around the entire Tirthan Valley for 5 days thanks to this lovely place. I am not much of an eater but trust me their food is amazing and the worry one usually has while traveling was just put aside. The Pizzas, the Trouts (I loved the Smoked) the soups everything is very tasty thanks to Shifali who personally checks the kitchen. The staff is fantastic too. Overall a wonderful experience and I recommend this place to everyone who wants to explore this beautiful Valley.

Yes, Of course they have cheaper accommodation than other hotels nearby. Also the rooms are good. But the atmosphere there, you feel like you are in a BAR always. The services are very poor. No room services. Only one man available for service. You can stay there but try to eat from outside. No doubt their pizzas are excellent. If you are a vegetarian, it is a horrible place to eat. Go to any home stay, they will make very tasty food for you.

The man Christopher, is an arrogant man. Very cheap talks. Please stay away from him. Please ensure the terms and conditions before you check in.he may change it any time according to his mood, If you are paying GST ask him for a GST bill.

One last thing, there are better places available in the valley to stay.

Himalayan Trout House is the best places to stay in Tirthan Valley hands down. The tirthan river is right in front of this homestay. Every room is thematic and unique in its own way mostly designed and painted by Shefali. Its a pretty neat, clean and well maintained property. The owners, Christopher and Shefali are so warm and welcoming and the food here is so delicious. Their rice pudding is just to die for. They have the most adorable and the cutest dog Missy. Both Christopher and Shefali will make you feel at home and part of family with their engaging and entertaining conversations.
The location of this property is apt and right in the heart of Tirthan Valley with no internet or network issues. I would definitely vouch for this place. Two thumbs up.

Love the excursion possibilities around the place, take a packed lunch, couple of cold beers and drive up the mountains. I would fish for my supper but preferred pointing my finger to the menu and fishing for a grilled trout direct from the kitchen to my plate! Among the various options in the valley, post Covid, the HTH seems to be most in demand! And totally worth it!

For me going to Tirthan means staying at the Himalayan Trout House. We have been going there for over 15 years because of the excellent service, warmth of the staff and of course the stellar food and company of Shefali, Christopher and Kabir. Over the years we have made so many friends there and it is our second home. When you look at the combination of the lovely place with its beautiful artistic touches given by Shefali who is an artist herself, the stimulating conversation that is carried out by Christopher, the gorgeous setting of the place and the lovely energy at the communal gazebo, it’s a place you never want to leave. Having Kabir there to tell his jokes, eating the delicious pizzas, chatting with other guests and listening to incredible live music around the fireplace and watching our daughter grow up there being one with nature, it’s literally our home away from home. Whether you want to sit in front of the river and watch it flow past, go for hikes, or fish the river, or have a picnic by the river, the folks at the Trout House have you covered! Despite so many new places that have come up, this is still by far, our favourite. The original and best place to stay at in Tirthan!

Christopher is a gracious host. His place is very well managed and run. Great food and friendly staff. No sun in the winters and the place is very open, so it can get really cold. Brrrrrr.

Home away from home. A frequent visitor to this place since inception (yes, I consider myself lucky). Situated next to the Tirthan river, the Trout House is a labour of love and passion by Christopher and Shefali. Sparsely constructed among the trees, you feel like you are outdoors the moment you step out of your room and there is plenty of personal space.

Then there is this Gazeebo, with a central fire place. During summers one can lounge the day away here, read a book, listen/play your music, take in the bustle of other guests, join a stimulating conversation, gaze at birds (feather ones), take a siesta. The fortunate few will encounter a fly fisherman/woman, taking a break from the river, to tie his flies (insect replicas), the trout are currently feeding on and of course chowing down on some scrumptious food, before heading back.

This place is at the top! @Shefalimitra and @Christophermitra (hosts) make you feel at home instantly. Serve delicacies with oodles of TLC! You want to go on an adventure, bask in the sun, eat, read a book or just hang out at #thetrouthouse, choice is yours but you are sure to experience an ultimate holiday here. A well sought after #busydestination post Covid so book early or you will be disappointed!

The Himalayan Trout has been the highlight of my Tirthan Trip! Best food, best host! Meeting Shefali, Christopher and Kabir was so heartwarming. Such warmth and wise words they carry!
I was absolutely delighted to have all my meals there, get to interact with such wonderful people and also gain more knowledge about Tirthan. Definitely coming back here soon! One trip I cannot forget!

Worst ever experience we had. We had a lot different image in mind. It seems like they have opened place for them selves not for the guests. Sheer waste of money. A one doesn't expect some one to be so rude who is in the such industry.

Yummy food, beautiful and entertaining host, well located, maintained, scenic property. Definitely try their fried chicken, pizzas, burgers and cheese cakes.

Excellent place and food. We had two types of trout dishes and lemon cheesecake. Everyday was tasty and served quickly.

We (couple) stayed with Christopher at The Himalayan Trout house for 2 nights in the stone cottages with balcony, and it was a comfortable stay. They've got all the amenities one needs in the hills and the food is nice too. Best part is the hosts are friendly and mingling and recommend things to do around Tirthan valley. We didn't go angling with them but maybe next time.

A beautiful place in Tirthan valley with great hosts named Shefali and Christopher. Heard a lot about the place, hosts and its food and found everything as heard.

Homely and friendly atmosphere. Untamed natural place in the vicinity of Great Himalayan National Park. Tirthan river with trout fish. Tirthan Velly, a must visit place for adventure and tracking.

A fantastic place to have lunch on your way to or from Ghusaini. The preparations of the fresh trout here is absolutely fabulous.

It's been around for quite some time now. The staff is courteous and friendly except a woman local worker who would give you a long 5 min stare walking towards you. They just got a new wood fired pizza oven but the pizza isn't good and priced expensively. The lodges are nice but 3 stars for food that spoilt mood

Awesome property which has cozy cafe and very good rooms. Perfect location in tirthan valley with ️ peaceful and tranquil aura surrounding. Trout fish is aweome. Christopher and team make it perfect holiday destination in mesmerizing Himalayas.

Had fire baked pizza at this place. Definitely the worst pizza ever. Never ever try this. A tandoori roti without butter wd be better than this pizza. At average price of 450 pee pizza, felt like a fool eating at this place. Totally dissatisfied.

I did not stay here but visited over lunch. Property is beautiful. Food was great. Everything was being prepared fresh.

I loved this place! So good! The food is CRAZY awesome, the wood-fired pizzas are so GREAT! The hosts are so friendly and the place is so hygienic and entertaining. Guides provided are very, very amicable! The rooms are very airy and spacious and the TV definitely entertained us when we had nothing to do! GREAT JOB! VERY CREATIVE!

Located in a beautiful Tirthan Valley, The Himalayan Trout House is not just a place to stay. It is an experience and will make for a rather memorable holiday.

The hosts Christopher Mitra and Shefali are warm and courteous. Christopher is also a constant source if humour and fun. While Shefali maintains high standards of cleanliness and is also responsible for the classy decor.

They are couple from Delhi who have moved to the hills. That means they are well aware of the comforts most City folk expect even when they escape the city.

The place has enough parking for 4 cars post which I guess you'd have to park further down the road. The river is right in front of the place you can easily walk down to it as well.

They also have a cute dog named Sultan who is friendly but generally keeps to himself. This was a plus point for me since I love dogs.

The Food is good for the most part barring the Chinese (which is my fault, I don't know why I ordered Chinese in the hills). It is a little expensive if you're big eaters but considering the location it seems fair.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to escape the city and just relax for a few days. I would love to go on and on about it but, I promise you Christopher will do that for you when you reach.
