The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla

Service is uncomparable. Best service ever seen in my life. I will always stay here whenever I go there.
Rooms are very big and well decorated. IIt'slike a house.
Slightly far from Mall Road but it's OK for youngsters.

We were allocated a terrible room to begin with, building work in the next room and a view of the doorman and the traffic. As we were there for a special occasion, we agreed to move, but this was at the cost of £100 per night.
Our new room was very nice indeed with a fantastic view of the valley bellow.
Food is best described as limited. Tasty enough, but not loads of choice and much the same every day. But.breakfast starts with coffee. Any 5star hotel should know that. So, making guests wait 45minutes to an hour for a coffee is frankly unacceptable at this price point. It's just embarrassing.
And a word about beer. It should be cold. Not room temperature.
This hotel is a beautiful building, immaculately clean and the reception staff are super friendly, but it is being spoilt by poor managers in the food and drink departments.

Everything about this property is amazing. It was my second time and my partners 5th, looking forward to my 3rd already. The location itself is breathtaking. Our favorite part of the day used be going out for a walk in the evening.

It's old theme British Style, well managed hotel, located at centre point. Staff are well trained to provide great welcome all the time, servise are also very well and food quantity is awasome.

I booked you hotel for 1 night and had some troubles with the housekeeping staff.

I had actually come to your hotel by mistake the day before, thinking that we had booked this hotel. And we found your hotel looked really nice,   therefore,   we canceled our booking at a different hotel by refunding just 20%. I cancelled that hotel and booked my stay at your hotel because I felt that I would have a comfortable stay and receive great service.

The day we were supposed to check out, we asked for some things from the housekeeping staff. They then entered our room using their own key, without bothering to knock or check if they should enter or not.

Later on, they took our luggage from our room and loaded it into a taxi. Even worse, they misplaced some of our items into another guest's taxi. It was fortunate that I saw my bag on the taxi and requested the guest to confirm if there were any luggage which did not belong to him. If I did not happen to see my bags, I would have lost my items and either would have had to track down the other guest, which would waste a lot of my time. Or, I would have to lose all the items in those bags.

I checked into your hotel because I believed it would be a great experience, but it was not as advertised. I was expecting privacy and good service, when in reality the housekeeping staff simply barges in without bothering to knock. And I don't even know what to say about the whole luggage fiasco. All in all, I was disappointed with my experience.

Great looking Victorian style well maintained interior. Food is a real disappointment. If planning to visit only for dinning then better avoid. Two star for the ambience

Excellent decor heritage style. Old world charm! Out of this world breakfast spread. Food delicious. Excellent service. Extremely friendly staff. A must stay place. Balcony rooms are excellent with a great view. Lovely place. Peaceful place away from the otherwise crowded town yet walking distance from the main tourist attractions.

The charm of the hotel is undeniable, the food was very good, but oddly the accompanying Dal, for the whites lentil was better than the main dish.a tad expensive yes, the restaurant caption captain was all attention and extremely polite.

One of the best hotels I have visited till now. I have been lucky and blessed to visit beautiful countries and places but this hotel really stands out. Ambience and hotel is gorgeous it has classical and timeless style, some things might seem not as modern as it could be nowadays but it brings its unique charm and spirit. And most important thing which made this experience outstanding is STAFF, very attentive, friendly and polite. For first time in hotel I felt like most awaited dear guest, not just client but guest! Definetely on top recommendations in my list. Here you can find mouthwatering gourmet, stunning view, beautiful nature, forest and even monkeys (!), attentive staff, gorgeous comfortable hotel it all sums to over cloud experience in Oberoi Cecil Shimla. Love to be back here someday.

It's a lovely Warren of a hotel with real style. There is deep polished wood everywhere. The staff are friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The location is in a quiet part of Shimla - and that is something quite hard to find. There is a beautiful shady walk to and from the old town.

Along with a full-service spa, this hotel has a restaurant and an indoor pool. It is one of those old world colonial heritage properties. All the elements of the hotel, the faint music in the lobby, the guests, the decor, the smell, add up to that very retro, very colonial experience. I would admit that it's slightly heavy on the pocket, but they do exemplify the Oberoi brand of hospitality. That area has many military installations, cleanliness comes free. Add to it the lush deodar cover and sunshine. The narrow corridors and staircases are done in rich wood and thick carpet. The staff is super courteous. One gentleman even left a personal gift.
Special mention for Mr. Ravi Ranjan. He took great care of us, looked after us and understood our taste for foods and got it cooked in that manner. The food service was so much customised that makes you feel having food at home. Thank you Mr. Ravi. Special thanks to house keeping staff team led by Mr. Vineet Kumar Sharma for providing stereliser facility for our 6 Momths old daughter. Thanks to Mr. Amardeep Singh and Mami for the welcome gesture. Mr. Pratik for guiding us about the property and greetings and to the Chefs Mr. Singh (Head Chef) and Mr. Rajkumar (Sous Chef).

Went here for breakfast in beautiful company. They have a buffet ysytem for breakfast with a wide variety of Indian and continental dishes. There is a table menu also, the diaes contained in that are served fresh and on the table and are included in the buffet. The breakfast is priced at 1150 + taxes per person. The place is very warm and elegant with lots of natural light. The staff is courteous. The food served is good in taste but nothing out of the world. Woukd recommend for visiting for a special occasion.

The hotel is very good. The interiors the food evrything is very good. And the locations is also adorable.

A Hotel with a rich history, a commendable present and a great future. The hotel has an Atrium which is one of its kind, sitting and having a drink adds up to the charm of the hotel and with rooms facing the Valley, it's a cherry on the cake!
