The Wild Yak

The major benifit of this hotel is the location. En route from Shimla to Manali/Kullu, Mandi is a ok place to stay but I'd recommend Sundar Nagar over Mandi (few kms less travel). The Wild Yak bldg is newly built hence the rooms are good but don't expect any luxury grade here. Service is subpar. Old Mandi City is 4 kms (20 mins from this hotel) and excellent for emergency needs including medicine.

Rooms are very very good. No in house kitchen, they get the food from adjacent dhaba and charge like A+ restaurant but food is super pathetic.

They do not give bills.for anything whether is food or rooms.

They do not even keep drinking regular drinking water in the room. Location is fine, convenient.

Place is run by highly untrained, no knowledge of hospitality industry, probably woner is not interested to keep good quality staff.

Aperantly new hotel but if it runs this way with in year or two it is bound to deteriorate.

I really feel the pain seeing such nice property is running this way.

Did not expect such a silent and beautiful property right at the edge of a busy town like Mandi. The rooms and common areas are wonderfully designed. Service is great! You can get food delivered at the property from some really good restaurants around. They provide the menu cards for the same. Ghanshyam from the property went way out of his way and offered to pick us up from dinner when we weren't able to get a vehicle back to the property late in the night. That was unexpected and such a life saver! The table tennis board at the property makes it better. Totally suggest this if you're looking for a nice place to crash in Mandi!

Location - good (on the way to Manali).
Service and staff- satisfactory. Food available on order in room.
Room - size was small but views were good. Bathroom - had all toiletries. Shower bath available. (October 2022)

Rooms are very very small not at all as shown in the photo by the hotel. It's just a lodge and renovated recently. Smelly rooms and very dirty small balcony.

Great stay, clean rooms, good view. Overall a nice experience in Mandi, special mention to how neat everything is. Definitely recommended.
They also a good terrace which is accessible to boarders.

Good Hotel, especially the river flowing behind towards evening is very soothing to sit and enjoy.
The staffs are also well behaved and very attentive.

The place is right next to road and rooms have no soundproofing. To add to that there are several speed breakers on the road in front of hotel. The basic necessity of getting sound sleep at a rest stop or hotel is not being fullfilled at this place. So all other amenities are by default useless. Additionally there is no security at night. No watchmen and the gates are all open. Anyone can direct walk to your room's door without anyone to stop them. Couple that with the secluded location of this hotel is a receipe for disaster. I booked this room for Rs5300 which is a comple waste of money. It should be more kind of a Rs800 room. Even then i would not suggest this place as you would not be able to sleep anyways due to extreme noise of the passing vehicles' thudding on the speedbreakers the entire night.

Located in outskirts of Mandi. No food facilities available nearby. No breakfast option in hotel. Clean rooms though.

It was one of the best hotels I have stayed in so far.
Rooms are clean and beautiful with majestic views of the hills.
The service was also very good! Whatever we requested was provided to us within very less time. The managers & the staffs are all well mannered.
The food can be ordered from the Chawla's which is great!

I stayed here for a night, while transiting from Shimla to Manali. Rooms are very good, spacious, clean, and having high quality interior. Bed is very comfortable. You also get a balcony in room. Overall, it's good. Internet is also good.

Rooms were very nice. Property is new. Nice and comfy bed.

Only disadvantage is no restaurant available in the property. You wont find any good cafe or restaurant in mandi. You will have to explore nearby town like sundarnagar.

View from rooms is average. From rooftop you will see beas river and mountains.

I happened to bump into this place by chance on my way to Manali! This place is amazing with a perfect location, amazing views of the mountains and the Beas river. The rooms are of perfect size, very clean and tidy and also the bathroom with upto date bathroom fixtures. Very clean bed linens and towels. You will have no complain on those things. Of course, the food you will have to order from outside but that hardly takes time and is delivered within mins! There is a dedicated dining place downstairs which is awesome. Good place to eat and hang out! Plus there are two amazing guys Adarsh and Rohit who look after the property, very polite and well-mannered guys. They will help you with whatever queries you might have. I wish there were more guys like them in the hospitality business because it is becoming rare to find polite and helpful guys in the hotels nowadays. Pathetic scene in most cases. Had an amazing stay and will definitely come back again someday! And would 100% recommend this place to my family and friends! Keep it up guys!

It's not a hotel but like hostel. The receptionist you have to contact on whatsapp.
There is no food available, rooms are very small like apartment rooms.

Overall I would say avoid this hostel type hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at Wild Yak. It is brand new property on the Mandi highway. The rooms are extremely clean. The bed is very comfortable, we had very nice sleep after traveling in very bumpy roads on the way to Mandi either side from Kullu and Chandigarh. The manager, uncle and auntie we very friendly and helpful. It felt like home away from home.

Suggestions: The bathroom enclosure can be improved and in-house restaurants would be would be good to have.

HIGHLY recommended if you are traveling towards Manali and looking for an offbeat yet easily accessible place to stay in Mandi. Akki's Airbnb is one of the most beautiful listings I've visited in my many years of staying at Airbnb’s! He was extremely helpful and communicative and his check-in instructions were very clear. The bed is more comfortable than my bed at home and it might be the cleanest property I've visited. I loved every piece of wood furniture they had and nothing felt dirty. The shower has plenty of hot water and they provided plenty of towels. House attendant is always there to assist with your needs. They provide high quality standing heaters that keep your room nicely warm. My family and I had a really solid experience staying here. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed at The Wild Yak at Mandi Himachal Pradesh for a night on my way to Manali and totally loved my stay. It's a newly built property right on the Mandi-Manali highway and very well maintained as well. The place has everything someone needs from hot shower to heater to TV and everything else. The place was absolutely neat and clean with fresh towels and linen. My room had a balcony too. They still didn't have a restaurant but they are making one on the ground floor but the caretaker brought me food from nearby restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful and Owner was also polite and accommodating.

AMAZING! Guesthouse in a GREAT location on the way to Manali, easily accessible to Mandi town and Prashar lake. Our stay at The Wild Yak EXCEEDED all our expectations in a very positive way! We have been to many different Airbnb’s, but this one stands out! Not only was it a very clean, cozy room, with a great view, but the warm-hearted Akki’s parents, made it all just exceptional. We slept very well and we had a really nice breakfast. I especially liked the real wood furniture that reflects the essence of Wild Yak. It has amazing real wood texture with right imperfections, and a distinctive natural grain pattern that make its so beautiful. In short: if you are in the area, you should not miss out on a stay here! Highly recommended!
