All times favourite. You can just walk in, visit their temple, buddhist library, ask Tashi (librarian) buddhist related questions he is always happy to answer them. Documentaries shown on Mon & Fri 2PM, check on their website.
Magical place, ideal for a retreat, meditation, even the road that takes you there is conducive to meditation. The people are lovely and the temple is magnificent.
An amazing experience in the 10-day Intro to Buddhism course. The course is very structured and combines both studies and meditations in the right balance. The conditions themselves at Tushita are simple but high quality, for example the food is excellent and the accommodation is clean but simple.highly recommend.
I was lucky enough to have a wonderful experience on a 10-day Introduction to Buddhism retreat. The warmth of the environment, the immersion in nature and the teaching of Buddhism were the ideal place. Tushita is perfect for an introduction to Buddhism in an authentic and welcoming environment.
I attended the free one hour morning meditation and what we got was 15minutes of introduction followed by the next 15minutes punctuated with ‘guidance’ and then the last 30minutes of more or less constant facilitation. So in the one hour more than 50% was talking by the teacher and you would be lucky to have more than 10minutes of undisrupted silence. If a true meditative class is what your seeking then this is not the class to attend.
An amazing meditation and reflection center. You can learn about Tibetan Buddhism in a quiet, relaxed and beautiful environment. They offer daily drop-in meditation and also retreat of 10 days. One of the most impressive and important places I've visited in my trip.
I took the Intro to Buddhism course here and Becoming your own therapist. The teachers, food, and space were lovely. I wish I could have stayed longer. It has been the best part of my trip in the Dharamshala area. Thank you Tushita!
These are the fake buddhist who are acting as teachers and directors with buddhist robe on their impure mind. I would suggest that fpmt and tushita should have real buddhist people sharing the knowledge of Buddhism. ️
A beautiful meditation centre on the top of the hill and in the middle of the Lush green deodars Amazing ambience Peace of mind They offer many meditation and self healing courses
This place is amazing. So serene and tucked away behind the hills. I attended the introduction to meditation course and that was amazing. The whole place calms you a lot and my instructors - Ricardo and Farina were just brilliant. The place can be visited even if you are not taking any course as well.
Very calm and peaceful. I attended the daily free meditation session and was super impressed with the instructor. She way she explained the steps and guided on how to handle the difficulties made it so easy to get started
The 10-day introduction to Buddhism course was a very rewarding experience. Quiet and peaceful, it's a great way to take some time out of the real world to simply learn, think and reflect on life. The teachers are not at all pushy being focused more on creating better and happier people rather than creating new Buddhists. I highly recommend. And yes, the peanut butter is something special:)
Just spent 10 days here - mostly in silence and in the monsoon mist and drizzle. Quite magical and certainly an experience of sublime significance. Three deep bows to the Tushita team whose love and hard work ensures this beautiful place remains a centre of welcome and transformation!
I went here for their drop-in morning meditation (which can be attended in-person or virtually). The setting is so peaceful that i think one can meditate just sitting among the trees!
Peaceful, beautiful place. The amazing atmosphere is felt the moment you step into Tushita’s beautiful forest. I participated in the morning meditation session, it was wonderful indeed. Guidance was patient and interesting, analytical meditation brought few insightful thoughts. A must visit when in Dharamshala.
Amazing experience to be there. It's been 2 years and the memories still feel so fresh. It's my bad luck that due to covid and lockdown I couldn't visit there again, but I'd get there as soon as it opens up again. The peaceful environment and observance of silence works magic and 10 days of stay brings immense positivity, food given here changed my thoughts about food, I could feel how the food u eat affects ur body and mind, I literally felt it and I crave to enjoy those light and healthy meals once again. I'd advise everyone to visit such places as they help u become a better human being and brings so much of positivity in u. Must visit place.
Its a very beautiful place full of greenery. This is famous and attractive place ever. So many tourists visit this place every day. You can feel the positive vibes and peace here. Come and enjoy
Tushita is a centre for the study and practice of Buddhism from the Tibetan Mahayana tradition in Himachal Pradesh in northern India. It is located in the forested hills above the town of Mcleodganj in village Dharamkot. The centre offers Introduction to Buddhism Courses and intermediate level courses for those who have already taken one of these introduction courses besides conducting Group Practice Retreats for practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism.
If you want to learn more about buddhism in a peaceful environment then this is the ideal place! Delicious food, excellent library and a stunning temple. Don't hesitate.
Beautiful and peaceful place! The meditation are amazing and the whole staff is super! If you can take the time do to a residential course I totally recommend! It had a significant impact on me and I wish more people got access to the wisdom we got from being in this course!
Tranquil place.every information you can get online. Prior reservations are must for courses. Parking for visitors is not available. They have residential courses.
Peaceful place where one can have his mind set through meditation and yoga one can meet his inner soul feel what life is and why he/ she is here in the world
Just be here guys. One should do atleast one resident meditation course here. You will for sure figure out what to do next. Trust me. Trust the process.
The most beautiful way to cut off for ten days, from the fabricated world of social media, peer pressure and herd mentality (amongst others). The introduction course offers a deep insight into the concepts of life, such as love and attachment, life and death, conditioned existence, emptiness, reality and delusions, etc.
The mediation sessions alongside the philosophy add the much needed meaning and connection with self and compassion and empathy for the universe. Would go back to this again if chance ever permits me.
Wonderful place in McLeodganj, definitely worth a visit! I can really recommend the drop in meditation sessions in the mornings. I’ve learned so much here of meditation. They also have a beautiful library/bookstore, where you can find a wide variety of books on the topic of buddhism, meditation and peace.
The place is located in between McLeod ganj and Dharamkot. The place is set amidst beautiful landscape which leaves a great ambience for relaxation and meditation.
A serene place that offers basic and advanced guided meditation courses akin to Vipassana meditation. It is nestled in the pristine environs of Dharamkot, a sleepy village near McLeodganj in Dharamshala. Tushita also offers daily 1 hour meditation classes for walk in visitors. Do take out time to visit if you are in the vicinity.
Great buddist centre with meditation drop in sessions every morning at 9am and regular short courses to introduce you to buddism philosophy and understand your mins better. People running the place are great and the nuns teachings are high quality. Had the chance to meet Tenzim Palmo in person!
I did the 10 day "Introduction to Buddhism" course. It has enriched my life.it is well taught, the meditation sessions are mind opening. The location of the retreat center in the forested hills of Dharamkot, away from the hustle and bustle, is perfect for meditation and spiritual growth. On a side note, the food is amazing, the accommodation is really good and the staff is very helpful.
Pros- 1. Very good place at top of hill at MacLeod Ganj, well maintaned for the study of Buddhism enthusiasts 2. Punctuality and discipline. Big Salute! 3. Very reasonably priced (Only Donation) 4 Western teachers teach Buddhism makes easy for westerners as they feel comfortable with regard to language and ascent.
Cons- 1. As an indian with little spiritual and philosophical background, felt it the teachings are very basic and boring also could not 'feel' the real insight or esence of buddhism. So I recommend Tibetian/Indian teachers with english proficiency to lead the retreat if possible. 2. During induction to course, the retreat organiser made fun of the indian government policies for foreign tourists with regard to filling up of many documents. This is un acceptable as every country has its own R&R for security reasons. Also making fun of indian 'culture' during some occasions during the retreat may cause little inconvenience and you have to take it in positive spirit.
I visited this place and spend my 3 days here for meditation! U need to register here in tushita office only for meditation courses. It's amazing, awesome, fantastic and cool place.u can visit here for meditation as well as for exploring!
I went for the 10 days Know you mind - basic Buddhism course. What can i say? ! Suffering from depression as a result of erroneous thoughts, was eased. I found answers. I am living with awareness, with higher life condition than I ever thought possible. Praying for happiness of all sentient beings, I am a better person. Being responsible for my own happiness, I strive with courage
I had gone 4 years back and it was a wonderful healing session. Post that a few years back I went to for the advanced course and was unfortunately disappointed. The admin staff which was once nuns were now no longer compassionate and the charm had been lost. I was planning to recommend a place for friend but on 2nd thoughts I was wondering if Tushita is still like before or has deterieted as per my 2nd experience
Nice beginner level courses if you are into bhuddism. Also has free morning meditation from Monday to Saturday. Library where you can borrow books and nice place to sit, but maintain silence. Its under kopan monastery in Nepal. Check their website for course details.
It is very good place and have totally Natural environment. But the only bad thing about the place is that they don't have as much respect for Indians as they have for foreigners.
Beautiful, quiet & a calming place. The meditations in the morning are open to everyone & are a great way to start the day. Located in the midst of a lot of foliage it is the perfect place to find some inner peace
If you are looking for a quiet place with no speaking amd a nice garden und a nice library than you are right. Be aware of thr monkeys. Sign up for a course there, but better book in in advance they are quite busy
I did the 10 day Intro to Buddhism course and absolutely loved it! It gave me so much knowledge about how my mind works and how to really live a happy life. Definitely isn't a luxury hotel stay, but the food was just amazing. That PEANUT BETTER though is. If you have a chance, are curious about the deeper meaning of life, and want to be happy, please try and fit these 10 days into you schedule. You will be a better human for it!
Many people come with expectations. Just like everything, some connect and some don't. For almost 50 years the centre provides teachings following the Tibetan Buddhism traditions. Over 2000 students a year (residential courses) and much more for the drop in. Of course, everyone have their own experience and are entitled to make their own opinions. If you're curious, go and make your own opinion, it might change your life. Much Love and Compassion to All Sentient Beings. May all have happiness and it's causes
The place is peaceful but I found it a bit partial and people were not even considerate towards people with medical issues. Very disciplined place but I think only for indian people.
Living in seclusion, cut out from the rest of the world, learning and meditating while detoxing yourself with unadultered food; I had a good couple of days there.
They all are money mind. They are doing partiality with indians. Although they are running there courses in india.shame to tushita. It seems like that they are not following Buddhism. Very bad and sad experience
This is a magical place. A great place to disconnect from everything and enjoy some peace and quiet and funny monky moments. I stayed in dormitory with 7 more people. Almost everything there is super basic. Few westren toilets, the rest are eastren. I had issues with the food. It was good but just wasn't tasty enough for me. Keep in mind that while you are retreating there you cannot use your phone as its going into the safe during check in.
Great daily drop in meditations 9am everyday except Sunday. The 10 day intro course is exceptional. Extremely good. The teachers are very intelligent, kind, and are patient with many questions. Food is good and the staff and facilities in general are very good as well. Very peaceful, can't think of anything bad!
