War Memorial

I have no words. The government has done a great job to pay respect to our soldiers. Please don't spoil this place by getting romantic over here! It's a wonderful place to feel patriotic and proud of our army

Must visit place.ticket us just Rs. 20 per person. Himachal has given us the soldiers who fought each battles after independence Cap. Vikram Batra, Captain. Saurabh Kalia, Kargil War Martyer, 1947-48, Operation Polo, Meghdoot, 1965,1971, Kargil War and any More.

War Memorial is located at the entry point of the Dharamshala town and it was built to commemorate the memory of those who fought valiantly for the honor of their motherland.
This place is ideally located in the pine forest of Dharamshala and offers a very pleasant walk through the woods. There are two main attractions nearby the War Memorial-the beautiful GPG College Dharamshala, made during the British Era and a café serving fast food and beverages. Surrounded by sprawling gardens, the elegant looking War Memorial is a tribute to those brave souls who sacrificed their life for the country and this signifies that these soldiers will always be alive in our thoughts. During the operations of 1947-48,1962,1965, and 1971 and various peacekeeping missions, many soldiers lost their lives, and it was in their memory that the War Memorial was built with the names of those many heroes inscribed on the stone.
They have also made Indian Map surrounded by nice beautiful law, it catches the tourist sight for photos, clean and nicely maintained memorial, do visit on your trip to Dharamshala.

The place is very poorly maintained.
There are plants growing out of the main memorial walls. The premises are used by young students to hang out.

Its more like a park, you will find the memorial as well. Its a really big and nice places to roam here and there if you have a good time for that. You will.hardly see a few war realted display things. 4 star for the nice place amd not the display things related to war

People are unknown about any facts and more curious to get a photo clicked for more views and likes only. Now that's ridiculous. Fee is also high.it should be around 10 rupees only

Place is good for a short visit. It showcases historic stuffs and have a big decorated wall having martyrs name written. It's a big garden with parking facilities just before the entry gate. Entry fee is 10 rs per adult and children's below 5 are complimentary.

This place is ideally located in the Dharamshala and the weather of the dharamshala is very cool, pleasant & peaceful which offers a inner peace of the soul. Dharamshala also known as winter capital of the state.

I've been to many war memorials, like Kargil War Memorial, Leh Hall of Fame etc, but unlike Kargil this is not that well set up, the theme is based on the 1971 war and Kargil, entry is 10 per head, in the center they've the Amar Jawan, fallen hero monument which is good to take some snaps with, gardens with flowers, and lots of space to stroll around, worth a visit.

A memorial made of three huge panels of black marble. The names of those men of Himachal Pradeshwho gave their lives in various wars are etched in these panels. In the thick of pines,  it is an eye-catcher. It is one of the major attractions of Dharamsala, the War Memorial reminds us of the post independence war heroes of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. These martyrs lost their lives in the Indo-China war of 1962, the Indo-Pak wars of 1947,1965 and 1971 as well as the UN peace operations.

War memorial is one km from post office.it display the names of jawans who died during warof1962and1971. A statue of col.zoraber singh is also situated. It is a very good tourist place. Cricket stadium is only half km from this place.

War Memorial is a nice place to relax and engage in a peaceful walk in the midst of nature. The beauty of the place makes it a wonderful place for family picnics. The playground had swings, slides, etc.for children. It's a celebration of the life of our brave martyrs who lay down their lives for this great nation.

Place is good with trees all around.not really maintained though.could have been a better place.names of the martyrs have erased from board.restoring is being done.greenery should be improved.washrooms are horrible.

Must visit this place in Dharamshala. Tribute to our brave martyred soldiers. Couldnt visit the museum as it was not open for public yet but got a chance to have a glimpse of the museum. Jai Hind

War Memorial in Dharamshala (kachari) is an interesting site to witness the war items and beautiful natural park created for people to rest under shades and enjoy the nature. It is also a wonderful place for children to hang around and play games.

A place where we pay our homage and respect to Martyrs who had sacrificed themselves in war for the nation. It is a serene and tranquil place and you will also see a war tank and replica of fighter plane.

Great place for children. Anyone can spend quality time with family here. Patten tank, fighter plane, paintings sculpture, park and much more. Good place.

Memorial dedicated to our martyred soldiers for their sacrifices made towards our nation. Reminds that freedom is achieved and maintained by their sacrifices.

Its a silent place where people definitely remember the fallen heroes of our nation. This is less crowded and in memory of the Indo-Pakistan and Indo-China war. Being well maintained and high tress it's a blessed place for silence. The entry ticket is just 10 rs.

War memorial is a bit disappointment as it was not maintained well. There is a lot of litter inside the premises and main museum is mostly kept closed. Indian army is our pride, but if memory of martyrs are not maintained well, then it is a bit concern. Indian Army should privatize the maintenance if this place or should have stringent rules set for the maintenance team at the war memorial.

Perfect place to remember our martyrs. Vijay diwas celebrate is performed by NCC candidates and some soliders. Free entrance on 16 december
