I recently completed my pregnancy and delivery journey at Alfa Clinic, and I am compelled to share my overwhelmingly positive experience.

From the initial prenatal visits to the day of delivery, the entire team at Alfa Clinic demonstrated unwavering professionalism, compassion, and expertise. The medical staff, led by Dr. Fathima, provided thorough and personalized care at every stage. Their attentiveness made me feel reassured and confident throughout the pregnancy.

The clinic's facilities were well-maintained and old school nothing fancy. The support staff were consistently friendly and accommodating, creating a welcoming atmosphere during each visit.

We had our both baby delivered here. Dr.nfatima is very professional and doesn't go for unwanted tests. The staff is very responsive and professional. Highly recommended.

I believe that these 9 months are very precious and one always wants them the best as anything can go wrong at any point. So it is very helpful at this time to have good support, especially on the healthcare front especially from the doctors. Certainly, one has multiple options to select from, to go to any kind of facilities available in the city and we are happy we chose Alfa Clinic for our baby’s arrival. When we met Dr Fatima we were pretty confident from the first consultation itself that we are in the right hands. We had a wonderful experience at Alfa. We got to know about Dr. Fatima from one of our colleague. We started visiting Fatima Doctor from the very first month of my wife's pregnancy. Doctor gives sufficient time to each and every patient and answers to all questions in lay man language which we can understand easily. In the 9th month of pregnancy, we were suggested for a scan where we got to know that blood flow to baby was getting compromised. When we consulted doctor with the reports, she did not panic us instead she examined my wife and explained us the situation, recommended delivery. Even though some of the doctor colleagues suggested c section, it was Fathima doctor who was very confident and helped my wife undergo normal vaginal delivery. Now my wife and my son are doing good. Even the staff at Alfa were very supportive, they were continuously monitoring my wife from the time she was admitted to the time of discharge. When I conceived for the second time, I started to research about possibility of having a VBAC in Bengaluru. I had a few things motivating me. I wanted to experience a vaginal birth since I wasn’t even given the option the first time. My mom had all 2 of her kids naturally, so, I wanted to try on pure principle and I wanted to see if my body could physically handle it.

I came across a very few doctors who perform VBACs and amongst them - Dr. Fatima Poonawala is known to have performed the 1st VBAC in Bengaluru; she is an expert at natural birth, VBAC and water births; Went through the reviews and I immediately got an appointment with Alfa Clinic.
The facility is neat and hygenic and the nurses were very friendly and supportive. Very knowledgeable and trained enough to keep you confident and motivated through out.

We have been visiting Dr. Fathima for my wife Ramya during her first pregnancy 8yrs back but couldn’t plan delivery at Bangalore so we end up in c-section in my native. First of all thanks to Dr Fatima from the bottom of our hearts for guiding us through VBA2C. Nobody gave us any chance and we were preparing for third C section.
Our only hope we knew was to consult Dr Fatima. Earlier during 2nd pregnancy also we consulted her but we could not travel to Bangalore because of death of my mother around the time of delivery. So we had 2nd C section.
But this time around we consulted her and she advised to come by 20th Feb. We travelled by Car from Goa to Bangalore on 19 Feb. All the tests were done and by grace of almighty all the results were good and we were waiting for the big day. On 23 morning 6.30 am my wife's water broke so we admitted her to Alfa Clinic. Initially there were no labour pains but Dr Fatima gave us confidence that it would start after 12 hours and she would wait till 48 hours before doing C section. So we waited very anxiously and finally by evening there were regular pains and around 2.00 am in the morning my wife delivered normally. We were overjoyed finally. Dr Fatima and her support staff all took great care of us and never did we feel we were away from home in a different city.
I would recommend anybody who wants to try VBAC please visit Alfa Clinic. Rest assured you are in safe hands.

Best Doctor you can find. I have visited more than 7 hospitals in Bangalore to get the normal delivery for my wife. Even experienced doctors suggested c sec. However, Dr. Fathima madam waited almost 20 days more than the delivery date, and finally, we had natural birth at the alpha clinic. She is a rare gem, society needs more doctors/clinic like this, at this point of time where c section mafia is at its peak. Thank you Doctor. Thank you for everything.

My wife got a very critical pregnancy complications, i.e. IUGR and severe FGR. Dr Fatima Poonawala decided to save my wife and deliver the premature baby. My wife gave birth to a baby girl with normal delivery. With doctor’s medical excellence and patience this became possible. We were admitted there for 7 days and all the babies took birth in this were with normal delivery. Dr Fatima maintains a record of 97% of normal delivery which is really awesome in these days. I gave birth to my 2nd son, on Jan 30th 2023 early morning, my water has broke on 29th evening @4.30, doctor asked me to come to the hospital, even though it was a sunday, doctor Fathima ma'am has come to the hospital just to attend me, later she use to come n check me up for every 2 hours, all night she waited for me just to fullfill my wish for having VBAC, early morning my pain was unbearable and i opt for water birth, thankfully doctor took me to waterbirth room and it was such an incredible home birth experience, having the positive water birth of my dreams.

WATER BIRTH was amazing, waterbirth is one of the best forms of natural pain relief you can get wen you go into labour. Trust me it has great benefits to mom n baby, after entering water within 40 minutes i gave birth to my baby.

I had a successful VBAC and owe it all to Dr Fatima. I met Dr Fatima during my 32nd week of pregnancy based on a reference from a close friend (who had also had a successful VBAC under Dr Fatima). Upon my visit on 32nd week, she analysed my case and assured I was a good candidate for VBAC. She answered all my queries and cleared my fears. Due to her expertise and guidance I got confidence to attempt for a VBAC. Although I could not deliver under her as she was out of town and had informed of the same during my first visit. I really appreciate on how she was available to answer my concerns on phone during her vacation (although she was not obligated to do that) and I am forever grateful to her for that.speaking to her always gave me some sort of confidence. She believes in natural birthing process without much of medical intervention. If you are looking for a natural birthing experience, I strongly recommend Dr Fatima. I vouch! I endorse! Dr. Fatima Poonawala. Just not for the delivery she did for us, but her brutal honesty & professionalism.
1st delivery was C-sec reason- cord around neck.
3yrs later conceived, for first 4months it was hell, as doc made to take scan&blood test every week. Only after 4 months doc confirmed 2nd pregnancy. At that point itself doc confirmed C section for 2nd delivery for only reason that 1st delivery was C section.
Also to mention ectopic between 1st delivery and 2nd pregnancy.
We didn't wanted C section for the 2nd time for simple reason, not ready to take medication & it takes 6months to recover completely.
We knew abu this doc at 6th month thru friend who had her 3rd delivery as normal after 2 C sec. Our friend just said to go blindly with this doc, as this doc will say YES or NO. If it's YES then just leave everything to her.
As we were not frm Bangalore, we had to travel twice for check up. She said we can give it a try and did not confirm normal delivery, but asked to keep posted on the sugar and BP level. We followed her instructions.
Just before a week of delivery, doc was worried about the wellness of 1st delivery stitches, she asked us to take a scan frm our hometown.
Seeing the scan report taken at our hometown, she refused for normal delivery and asked us to do a planned C section within 2 days. We left with no words, asked her can we repeat the same scan with her.upon we insisting, she referred for second scan to her trusted doc. The 2nd scan said the stitches completely fine and go for normal delivery without any fear.
That's how I understood how some hospital docs and scan centers are running a scam with people life.
After seeing 2nd scan report, Dr. Fatima, asked us to take a hotel and stay until pain comes normal delivery. Even we requested 10 times for a hospital ward room, she refused giving one- which showed she is not a commercial doc.
After stay of 4days, when wife got pain 2days prior to delivery, doc did not admit us but asked wife to just climb hotel steps and keep doing physical work. We were shocked.
One days before delivery, when wife couldn't bare pain, doc said cervix has not opened completely so to keep walking and did not admit us. We were frustrated and irritated. But the reason she gave was for not admitting us was very valid for not admitting us. She said if wife got admitted there might be a chance of unnecessary medication which she did not wanted on her patients which was wise and correct.
She admitted us just 4hours before the delivery and delivered us a beautiful baby in normal method without even a small medication and my wife came walking from labour room with baby to the ward. Doc discharged us next evening and said we can travel back to hometown. Wife is perfectly doing all work and baby is completely fine. No medication and nothing.
Thus, I just believed her and had faith and patience in ourselves which indeed made us write this review.

I have visited Alfa clinic for my wife delivery last month Dec 2022 and we are blessed with baby girl. This hospital is one of the most ethical one I can say. Very straight forward. Positively Conservative. This quality is really needed in delivery centre’s I strongly believe. Because delivery is a natural process. It’s not a disease. It should happen how it happen 100 years ago, 1000 years ago. So I can say this hospital is positively conservative. We will get Maximum in minimalism. Dr. Fatima poonawala is best and evergreen. Excellent support and care from Nurse and other hospital staff. Thanks for all the support.

Dr.is really amazing, she identify the root cause and treat with minimal medication.

She is unique dr. I have seen 10+ docters in bangalore, pune, sydney and madurai. All prescribed hell lot of medications saying precautions vitamin, sustain bla bla. But no use of it, my wife has become week.

We visited alfa clinic, she examined us, asked us to stop taking tabs, she guided some minimal normal tables which cost within 700₹ and within for 1.5 month, my wife is conceived. Now is 4 month.

I consulted Dr. Fatima Poonawala during my 1st and 2nd Pregnancy. But due to family reasons, first couldn't be delivered with her and it was a C section. During 2nd Pregnancy i decided to deliver under Dr. Fatima's guidance. And it was just a lovely experience. V back (normal delivery after the 1st C- sec) is generally not possible, but with her support and motivation during the whole pregnancy, it was possible for me to deliver the 2nd baby Normaly. I feel blessed for getting to know such a place in Banglore from on of our friends.
We visited Doctor Fathima at 8th month. She took great care of us.
We always wished to get the normal delivery but were not sure. Once after visiting Doctor we started getting confidence regarding the same.

We visited her at 7th month of my wife's pregnancy through the recommendation of our friend.
Doctor sees the patient very calmly and answers all our questions. We can book the appointment prior and we can visit the doctor on that time and hence reduces the wait time. Dcotor recommends the scanning at Raghav where there will be long queue and it is first come first serve which is bit painful

We got our baby delivered in the 3rd week of September and it was a vaginal delivery even though there was cord around the babys neck. Really we have to appreciate doctors patience as she was continuously monitoring my wife even in night. Doctor visited the hospital 3 times in the night and even monitored via whatsapp with the help of nurse.
All the nurses and supporting staff are kind.
Rooms are good and it is for those who want a normal delivery and a hospital without fancy things. Hospital is maintained, hygenic and reasonable price. Much less compared to Apollo and Narayana Hrudayalaya

If one is looking for c section and fancy delivery with photoshoot and too much of pampering then it's not the place.

I would start by saying we are blessed to have found Dr. Fathima at least for our second kid. She is a great woman as a person and a wonderful gynecologist we have ever seen. We delivered our baby through VBAC yesterday and it was a fantabulous experience to go through the labor along with better half.

Dr. Fathima is very composed and systematic. Prefers natural birth than C section or inducing normal delivery. Of course her key expertise is on VBAC. Many doctors don’t prefer to go for normal delivery after first C-section due to more complications. But she is one exception. Her team of nurses are well trained and they support to each and every aspect of the carrying lady.

Any pregnant lady would get comfy with hospital atmosphere. ALFA clinic is equipped with all mandatory instruments to take care Of baby and mother.

I had visited this clinic through a known resource and I am glad I had visited this clinic. As all of us want our wife to deliver through Normal procedure and avoid operation at most possible way. Point to note that the nurses are professional too and very polite and professional. 100% No compromisation on hygiene and safety of the mom and babies. I delivered my baby girl at Alfa Clinic. Dr. Fatima Poonawala guides through the entire pregnancy and birth process with a steady hand and pragmatic advice. Never over prescribing, she lets the natural process of a woman's body lead the way and this made me feel calm and confident rather than anxious. The clinic is clean and simple. Dr Fathima Poonawala is the best gynaecologist in town. I delivered my baby boy with her assistance on 14 January 2022. I was brought in to the her clinic early morning by 3am and I was 3-4 cms dilated and I was put in the warm water bath tub in the morning by 7, my contractions were also gradually increasing and the doctor would come and check my dilation and baby's heartbeat every now and then, on an average every 30mins. By afternoon I was few more cms dilated and was advised to walk around to help the process, after almost 12 hours I was completely dilated and I pushed out my baby around 5: 37pm with the help of the doctor and her team, my boy was 3.06kgs. She waited patiently along with me my husband and parents untill I was completely dilated and we were discharged the next evening because it was a vaginal delivery without any complications and due to Covid reasons. Even during check ups she didn't scare me about anything, she used to say eat less and walk more, eat in intervals, if you're baby is over weight then they'll be complication during labour, she wouldn't stress us about any unwanted scans and blood tests and medicines. I've found a wonderful doctor and her team after trusting the online reviews. Me and my family liked her during the consultation too. We trusted her and she trusted us back and the result was so beautiful. She doesn't talk unnecessarily though answers all the queries with patience. I would never forget this experience and Dr Fathima Poonawala too. Untill and Unless there is complications she won't go for C section, she'll wait if we are ready too for a vaginal delivery. She is the bestest. She has a great team too. Very helpful staff. I'm happy my boy was delivered by her assistance. I would recommend her to anyone I know. After our hard journey over miscarriage and complex treatment with multiple doctors, we gone through incredibly increasing in medicines intake, multiple tests and scans. Then we gifted with the GEM in this field Dr. Fathima Poonawala. She took care of my wife effectively with only necessary medicine, tests and scans. We could really see her dedication and intention to support us on normal delivery. Even from the admissions till the delivery we got intense care and she supports as much as possible for the natural process. And with her and her teams support we gifted with a baby boy.
People will definitely feel the care and service rather than a corporate approach.

Dr. Fatima Poonawala / Alfa clinic - what do I say about this place. We were blessed to get connected to Alfa clinic. We have been through 2-3 different doctors initially but we were not comfortable either because the way they were going about frequent scan / different tests or because of all negativity they talk. Even when my wife had high BP in her 9th month Dr Fatima assessed the situation very well and guided us to NORMAL DELIVERY even though when we had no hopes. There were lot of complications and we gave up and asked the doctor to go for a C section. But Dr. Fatima was not ready, my wife was admitted for a week and due to complications the doctor always gave priority to ethics and patient than any monitory benefit. Dr. Fatima was always positive even during our scans, no panic always cool calm and composed this comes only when someone has tons of experience. I also want to mention about Sister Geetha and Asha in the clinic who were fantastic assisting and taking charge of the situation and frequent check ups no matter what time it is on the clock and they were also very patient in the labor room. I have recommend this place to few of my friends and they too have a very good experience. I recommend this place to everyone.

I consulted her in my 8th month and after the 2nd appointment i used to think that why didn’t i see her earlier. She is straightforward, doesn’t prescribe too many tests or medicines. It was my 1st pregnancy and i wanted a normal delivery but i was already overweight and had other health issues also. But she did not give up and tried till the last moment, she would keep motivating me. Never saw any doctor do so much. I Had to go through an emergency c-section. She would come and check upon me in the night and early mornings also apart from the clinic timings and the staff was also very helpful all through.

Even today when i go to her it’s homely and not just a clinic. They gave me my life’s biggest happiness and took very good care of me. I can’t thank them enough.

It’s my immense pleasure to thank Dr. Fatema Ponnawala for making my wife’s first labour so easy with normal procedure. I was so scared about the complications in C-Section after listening from my friends and family members. I always prayed to god to get my wife’s first labour to be normal. Luckily we got a reference from our friend about Alfa clinic, we started to consult the doc from 5th month. She (doc) is a gem of a person. She is so calm and knowledged, very encouraging and constantly checking the mother and baby vitals every month. I would like to thank Dr. Fatima ma'am for her true motivation and support for her encouragement towards VBAC, I was 39 week day 2 my water break and no labour pain Dr encouraged us that it's not a problem we can wait for 48 hr for the labour to happen, after lots of effort there was no progress in my labour but still ma'am encouraged us and didn't lose hope in doing VBAC, as 48 hr was crossed and both baby and mom was monitored on regular intervals both were is good condition as I could bair the early labour so we finally decided to get a c section, and blessed with a beautiful baby, me and my family just love the gesture and the caring way that Dr. Fatima shows towards her patient. I feel sad that VBAC was unsuccessful in my case but we were in the best hands by god's grace, as other doctors doesn't motivates the patient in such unique cases insted make them tense by saying once water is gone baby will be in risk and many more things.

Summary: I highly recommend Dr. Fatima Poonawalla, Alfa Clinic, JP Nagar for VBAC (Vaginal birth after C-Section).

Background: My first child was born in October 2016 via C-Section (in my hometown). Though i was very active and didn't have any complication i didn't get any pain till 40 weeks. I got induced and because of fetal distress C-Section was performed.
I got pregnant with my second child during March 2021 and I was exploring VBAC options and Dr. Fatima was strongly recommended in Facebook communities. In Bengaluru, I am aware of only one another doctor who is willing to support VBAC. We took Alfa Clinic's services in Nov 2021.

Review is as follows:
1. Pre-natal consultation: The consultations were minimal - a video call in the 20th week & face to face consults were only in 24th, 34th and 37th week.
2. Investigations: Doctor recommended only a sugar test. Doctor did not even ask for additional scans beyond 30th week. Some of the growth parameters of my child was not high - the doctor was not disturbed by it and did not seek further investigations. My child is doing fine.
3. Facility: The clinic carries a homely maternity home atmosphere; this was comfortable to us. You may not find the processes of a corporate hospital.
4. Nurses/Staff: The staff are competent. Though I did not know Kannada I was able to communicate with them.
5. Doctor: Doctor was extremely patient. I made phone call at 3 AM. Came to the clinic at 4 AM. Doctor saw me at 5 AM. And kept seeing me every two hours. I had an active labour of at least 14+ hours. Doctor was not only patient but provided hope for a normal delivery.
6. Labor: When i was 38W + 3D around 4PM my mucus plug got discharged. When i called the Doctor, she asked me to wait for contractions. That night around 10.30 my contractions started. It was 10 mins apart. It was consistent and it got intense at 2AM and bloody show started. I called the doctor at 3AM and she asked me to report to the hospital. We got admitted at 4AM. Doctor checked and told i was 5 cm dilated. But Labour didn't progress much after that. But Doctor patiently waited for the labour to progress and encouraged me to walk more. Every two hours for 20 minutes baby's heart beat and contractions were monitored. During internal examination Doctor found out that my child's hand was sticking out. Doctor was able to push back the hand efficiently. At 4.30PM my contractions got strong i felt the urge to push. Doctor checked and told that i am fully dilated and i was shifted to the labour room. Doctor was constantly motivating and encouraging me to push. At 5.10PM i delivered my Baby. Skin to Skin, immediate breastfeeding was done. My husband was allowed beside me during child birth. This was comforting.
7. Discharge: I was discharged within two days.
8. Cost: The costs are very competitive for Bengaluru.

I strongly recommend Dr. Fathima to everyone to experience positive birth experience. She waited for the labour to progress and didn't rush for C-Section. She was always encouraging and motivating with positive words. It was a dream come true moment for me as i wanted to have VBAC. It was possible because of the Doctor who was very supportive. Thank you to the team of Alfa Clinic for giving me a memorable birthing experience.

Aggressive doctor doesn't explain more about the problem! Just you go and come with only limited answers and questions from his end.better doesn't visit this clinic chosse another place for your comfortable.

I decided to visit Dr Fatima Poonawala for my second pregnancy on recommendation from two friends who had delivered with her. She is definitely extremely experienced and she is genuinely interested in providing her patients with exactly what they need rather than doing what’s convenient.

I was determined to deliver with her but unfortunately, I just didn’t feel comfortable with her blunt manner of speaking. My last appointment was a month ago where she had asked me to get a scan and she suggested a certain place. I had many meetings that day at work so I called the scan clinic prior and checked with them regarding what my expected wait time would be. The receptionist gave me a very reassuring “30min maximum” and I planned my day accordingly. When I actually went to the scan Center, I was made to wait for nearly 2 hours and I missed a very critical meeting. Obviously I was upset with the staff there and upon asking why it was taking long, I received many rude responses and the lady at the reception even accused me of “lying” that no one at their clinic would commit to only a 30 min wait time. I was certainly not lying and this made me quite upset and I had an argument with the lady. Regardless, I took my scan report and proceeded to meet Dr Fatima.

When I visited her I was surprised that she basically fired me. She said I got a call from the scan clinic and they were apologetic about delaying my patient. Not sure how this concerned her but she proceeded to tell me how I was creating a negative atmosphere and that I was impatient etc etc. I was absolutely taken aback because this was nothing of her concern. She was so incredibly rude that I literally broke down in the car on my way back home and I was so upset that I just didn’t have the heart to return for my next visit. This wasn’t the first time she had spoken with me in a curt fashion, but I usually wrote it off telling myself that this was just her attitude and I shouldn’t take this to heart. But this last incident was just insulting and especially because it really didn’t concern her.

In just a few weeks before delivery, I decided to deliver elsewhere with a doctor and nursing staff that was a lot more considerate and polite.

I would still recommend Dr Poonawala for her philosophy and wisdom. If you don’t mind a tough and straight shooting (and sometimes rude) attitude, she is a great choice.

This was my second pregnancy, first one being Cesarean. For the first eight months I consulted a gynaecologist near my place who kept telling me it is going to be C-section again. I decided to go for a second opinion & a friend suggested Alfa Clinic. After the first appointment itself I was sure that I am in safe hands.

I had an extremely positive birthing experience at Alfa Clinic. Dr Fatima was very patient and understanding throughout my pregnancy. She never prescribed unnecessary medications and scans and always answered all my queries and concerns patiently. As it was my first pregnancy, I had several doubts, but with every consultation, Dr Fatima gave me confidence to go through my delivery without any complication.

At times, you might feel that the Dr is not concerned enough about you. But she is actually very dedicated towards her patients. She has even received my call and answered my query at 3 am in the night once.

The entire staff (Hema, Bhanu, Jyoti) was very encouraging and supportive. They made me feel comfortable as I progressed in the labour. They even allowed me to take my speaker and play music inside the labour room. I delivered a healthy baby under water at midnight while my favourite songs played in the background.

The Clinic: It's a cozy, clean place. Gives a homely vibe. The rooms are not too fancy, but have all the facilities like AC, Fridge, Microwave. It's on the main road, so there are many options for food take outs.

I stayed here for two nights. The support staff was friendly and helped me during odd hours of the night to calm the baby and help me with the basics.

Cons: It can get a bit noisy at times because of the traffic on the road. They have a visiting paediatrician whom we met for the first time after the baby was born. It would be great if the parents could meet the paediatrician once before the delivery to share their requirements and get comfortable.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe and natural delivery.

I delivered a baby boy on 12th Feb 2021 normally all thanks to Dr. Fatema Poonawala. After going through multiple reviews of Alfa Clinic, I started consulting Dr. Poonawala from the 3rd month of my pregnancy. She is an experienced doctor and a straightforward person. Throughout the pregnancy, she didn't prescribe any unnecessary tests or medicines.
Even when my sugar levels got elevated once, she didn't scare me. Instead, she referred a dietitian to change my diet. This, in turn, brought my sugar levels in control. She even provided her personal contact number for emergency purposes.
When my water broke at 38th week, she checked for progression of labor. Since there wasn't much progress, she asked us to take rest and come when pain start intensifying. We went to the clinic once contractions were only few mins apart. I had opted for water birth. She also allowed my husband inside the labor room for moral support. At one point of time, I asked for C-section as I thought I won't be able to bear the pain any longer. But she has full faith that I would be able to deliver vaginally. All thanks to Dr. Poonawala, I delivered a healthy baby without any complications.
I would also thank the nurses and cleaning staff of Alfa clinic for their support and service.

Both of our kids were delivered naturally by Dr Fatima Poonawala, whom we discovered serendipitously while searching for water births in Bengaluru.
For our 1st kid born ~7 years back, the last minute complication of decelerating foetal HR caused water birth plan to be abandoned and OT was readied for C-Section. In an unbelievable span of less than 30 mins, Dr Fatima marshalled a team of 4 doctors and 3 support staff. She said that she would try her best for 15 mins post which it had to be C-S. In what still seems like a hoary dream, she delivered our kid naturally in the OT.
Fast forward to some days back - True to our wish, our 2nd kid had a water birth; again Dr Fatima patiently held on, checking on us every hour or two and preferring to let things take their natural course in the face of a prolonged initial labour period. I've been forced to cut lot of details here due to the 4000 char review limit.

The doctor - In an age of rampant C-Sections, where a process as natural as childbirth is packaged and sold in the corporate hospital setup, Dr Fatima stands out as a stellar exception. A rare gem, who with her long experience and wisdom, believes in minimal interventions, still has her code of ethics in place and is one in whom, we can repose our trust and faith on, for a safe and natural delivery. Contrary to what it seems at first, she in fact cares deeply for her patients, as we can vouch for. This can be seen first hand on the "D-Day/labour day", post which she again switches back to a more "formal" tone. She puts her experience, intuition and patience to excellent use, rather than stick to the euboxic numbers from reports, which most doctors do nowadays. You are an inspiration Dr Fatima, how I wish we had more people like you! (over the current crop of scalpel happy people with no conscience). We pray for your good health, and may your long held wish (es) come true. Dr Sowmya, whom we met 1st in your clinic has been our trusted paediatrician ever since.

The place - When in good and safe hands, the place hardly matters, IMHO.
Alfa clinic is a small, cozy and clean setup. A shout out to the support staff (nursing sisters Bhanu, Smita, Hema; receptionists Asha, Abhishek and cleaning staff Savithriamma), who are always there to help and keep the show running.
Both rooms we stayed in were crisp, neat and served the purpose.
Hot water is available via a solar heater but takes a bit of time. We missed a small geyser which could give occasional short bursts of hot water during our period of prolonged labour pain and we had to bother Sister Bhanu for replenishing the hot water bag again and again.
Those who want a normal delivery in a basic and clean setup look no further.
Those looking for bells and whistles (read as glass marble facade, baby shower, stem cell counters etc) would suggest looking elsewhere. One of my close friends went to a similar corporate setup, only to have a harrowing experience at the time of labour, when it ultimately counts.

Another suggested point of improvement - In the post Covid era, it seems tele-consultations would be the norm, mostly. The front office staff are multitasking and their demeanour over a tele-consultation call *may* not always be reassuring to new timers, who *may* get a feel that they are not being responded to in an earnest way. Perhaps a process to track who all called and who all needs a response and by when.

For prospective patients -
We all are humans and are prone to periodic mood swings; doctors are no exception.
Dr Fatima can be stern at times, does no molly coddling and can give a mouthful, but that again (as we understood) is in the best interest of the patient. Even though we had her personal number both times, we valued her right not to be disturbed unnecessarily and called her only when it was REALLY required and she promptly attended to our concerns as well. Other times, we preferred to get connected via the clinic reception during working hours.

Thank you Dr. Fatima for the remarkable care you gave to my wife and my new born. You will never know how much that means to me. Thank you from the depths of my heart.

Due to WFH and covid, we were in our native Kolkata but we decided to consult ONLY Dr. Fatima when we got to know about my wife's 2nd pregnancy. Dr. Fatima is very experienced and knowledgeable gynaecologist. I met her during my third trimester of second pregnancy. My first one was C- section, I wanted to go for VBAC for 2 nd pregnancy, so my Doctor Bhargavi Dixit referred me to her. I visited Dr. Fatima only 3 times, even though it was a short period, her understanding of my medical history is so well that I need not worry to remind her about the drug which I am allergic to. Dr Fatima is very motivating and supportive, she explained everything clearly so that I was mentally prepared for the day. She is such a responsible doctor that when I was in labor she guided me and my was in contact through phone till I reached the clinic. I was monitored by the doctor and the nurse personally when I was in labor, her motivating words gave me the strength, courage and confidence during my labor and was blessed with baby girl. I suggest she is the best doctor for all those who want to go for normal delivery or VBAC. I thank Dr. Fatima Poonawala from the bottom of my heart and also thank Dr. Bhargavi Dixit for referring me to her. Lastly but not the least I thank all the staff members of the ALFA clinic.

Pregnancy and delivery are times when you need to go to the right hospital and doctor so that you are not only in safe hands but also have the right experience. That is exactly what I got at Alfa. I had both my babies at Alfa clinic, my first baby in November 2018 and my second baby end of December 2020. Both were normal and natural births with hardly any interventions. I want to share my experience and hopefully it will help those who are looking for a natural experience through their pregnancy and delivery.

Dr Fatima Poonawala - Doctor is very knowledgeable and has years of experience, which really comes across. She explains your doubts with a lot of depth and patience. She doesn’t ask for too many tests. She recommended the usual 2 scans at 11 and 20 weeks. I had to get a 3rd scan later only for my second baby but Doctor explained the need for it. Overall, she believes in minimal interventions and tests. More importantly, she is really kind, understanding and empathetic. For my first baby, I remember she had called my husband when she understood that I was in active labor and was checking with him till we reached the hospital. For my second baby, the doctor was considerate enough to allowed my friend to stay during my labor so that she could take care of my first baby while my husband could be at my side during the labor.

Staff - The nurses are quite caring and also have good knowledge. They are supportive and attentive during the entire labor. I was attended by sister Bhanu for both my deliveries and additionally by sister Hema for my second delivery. It helps to know the right people are attending to you at such a time. Overall, it has always been a pleasant experience interacting with the staff whether the nurses or Asha the receptionist. They are helpful and pleasant!

Rooms - I had taken the private room both the times. It’s quite spacious and homely. The room is equipped with a fridge, microwave and air conditioner. Overall, the clinic and the rooms are immaculate.

Consultation during the COVID-19 times - since my second pregnancy was during the COVID times, I had a consultation at 6 weeks and then the later consultations happened on the phone. Compared to my first pregnancy where I had regular check-ups every month, this time the physical check-ups really started from 32 weeks. However, this never created any kind of a problem. The doctor is available on WhatsApp and for a phone consultation as required by your situation. I think this is actually good because now even people who are located in other places can consult with the doctor and the current situation has only widened the doors.

Finally, I recommend Alfa clinic and Dr Fatima to those who are looking for a normal birth experience. The clinic also has a water birth facility. I had a c section during my first delivery in another hospital and this was my second delivery. I am very glad that second pregnancy I made the right choice by choosing Dr Fatima and Alfa clinic. From the beginning she told that we can try for VBAC. She is to the point and answers all your queries and does not suggest any unnecessary tests.
I delivered my second child a baby girl at Alfa on 22nd October 2020. And it wasn’t an easy labour, Throughout my labour she and her team were extremely supportive. Though I insisted on going back to c-section at certain points during my labour, she did not relent and made it clear that she would not do that unless necessary. Dr Fatima showed all the patience which a mother could show towards her child during my delivery. I am very thankful to her for that. Her team too is excellent and very helpful.
The clinic is clean and simple with no show or pomp. It’s a genuine and humble environment at Alfa clinic. The water birthing facility at Alfa clinic also helped in easing my labor pain to some extent which was beyond measure otherwise.
Dr Fatima does give her best and is the best. I would 100% suggest Dr Fatima for any one seeking the best. In my case, I am sure if it was anywhere else I would have ended up in a second c-section. The day I conceived, I knew I had to look for a water birth clinic around me. I was fortunate to locate ALFA clinic just 15mins from my place. Being a doctor myself, I had my apprehensions about visiting a nursing home instead of opting for a private hospital/ tertiary care centre. However, my first consultation with Dr. Fatema Poonawala changed my perspective of things. She was patient and straight forward. I continued my visits throughout the pregnancy and the more I visited the clinic I became sure of the genuineness of my doctor. There were no unnecessary tests/scans/medicines prescribed.
Finally when the D day arrived, I got admitted in the clinic. I can say one thing for sure that the only reason I could deliver naturally through water birth (my long lasting desire) was because of the constant motivation of Dr. Poonawala throughout my pains. I remember giving up so many times and asking for an epidural but she never gave up and kept encouraging me. Having worked in private hospitals in the past, I know that looking at my condition, any other doctor/hospital would find an easier way out and would have given me an epidural or asked me to opt for a C section. I am indebted to Dr. Fatema and the whole team- Bhanu, Hema and Asha to support me during the whole process. The took great care of me.
Today is the 9th day post my delivery and I have recovered almost completely. I am pain free and am spending quality time with my little- the only thing that eventually matters!

My heart could not take it when this happened: my sister had consulted for maternity, the doctors and staffs don't take care of the patient as needed and because of their negligence the baby had born in General ward without any doctor nor nurses.what if there any emergency had occurred?

End of the day still you need to clear their un believable bill and listen doctors cry for it.

Dr. Fatima Poonawala is the Dr.whom I can trust without next thought. I have delivered both my kids at Alfa clinic and both are normal deliveries. We are from a different part of Bangalore which is 20 kms away from Alfa clinic but wanted to consult only with Dr. Fatima considering her expertise and support during the pregnancy period. Both of my pregnancies are bit challenging as I am in late 30s and and also due to my history. I was able to have a normal delivery with Dr. Fatima's expert guidance. She never suggested any unwanted tests during the course of my pregnancies. In both the deliveries, she had stayed with me during all stages of labor which may not happen always in many big hospitals. During regular consultations, she explains the details very patiently and happy to answer all my queries. One of my delivery was during Covid situation (post lockdown) however the Dr.and nurses took utmost precautions and it was uneventful. I have already referred my cousins and friends to Dr. Fatima Poonawala and happy to refer her in future too.

My Dream of Lotus Birth came true.

I am writing this review after 7 month. But i really wanted to share my experience so that it will help others like it helped me.

Dr Fatima and her girls (that's how she calls the staffs) were so caring, kind and so supportive.

They didn't asked me to take unnecessary test or tablets. She guided me, gave confidence, supported in every way possible.

I had high BP during my 37th week, I had to travel to chennai for baby shower, she advised me not to come back and have my delivery in chennai. Since, I trusted her so much I wanted to have my delivery by her.

I got admitted after my return, she kept me in hospital for observation of my BP, the place felt like home, that night my water broke and because of her advices and confidence I spent the whole night peaceful, nexr day by 2.30pm i had my waterbirth, I also had dream for Lotus birth, which also came true.

It happened just because of Dr. Fathima. I had lotus birth after she examined my condition.

Can't thanks her enough for giving so much importance to my desires as a mother.

P. S. A special mention here: They texted me that discharge bill was wrongly calculated highly charged so come and get back the remaining balance. This happened after we came back from hospital. I bet no other place would do it.

Like all people running behind money they are also doing the same. Called up for appointment but the tone was the person is not interested and told only WhatsApp call consult will be provided after at their convenience that to after full payment done online. What’s the point.

I delivered my baby on Nov 18 th. Extremely very much satisfied with the quality of treatment, care of doctor fathima, prompt service by the nursing staff and good hospitality service. And I delivered my baby in water birth. In my view it's best to select water birth because the pain was unbearable and I felt relief inside the warm water with less pain until I gave birth to my healthy baby. BEST HOSPITAL TO CHOOSE FOR NORMAL DELIVERY.

I’ve had a positive water birthing experience and highly recommend Dr. Fatima. Alfa Clinic is the Only place in Bangalore that offers water birth. Dr is well known for VBAC (tries for normal delivery if you previously had a c-section). She is well equipped to conduct c-section delivery too.

About the doctor: Dr Fatima is patient, professional and provides individual attention and answers to your questions satisfactorily. She is straightforward, cares for her patients, doesn’t scare you unnecessarily and tries her best for a natural or normal birth. She doesn’t prescribe unnecessary medication and scans. She keeps you posted of the delivery procedure and seeks your consent before performing the procedure which I truly appreciate as most of the health professionals perform procedures without any consent nor explanation as to why it is required. A very genuine doctor whom you can trust completely. Hard to find such dedicated and trustworthy doctors today. She is my personal favourite and will be always thankful to her till my last breath for being so supportive and encouraging a natural delivery without unnecessary medical intervention.

Staff: There are few no of staff and they are highly efficient. Nurses and receptionist were super helpful and friendly.

Location: Convenient to commute as it is close to metro station and bus stand. Good hotels are very close to the hospital.

Clinic set-up: It is a small set-up with few rooms and is homelike environment which made me feel very comfortable. It is clean and Not super crowded as doctor sees patients only on appointment basis. It is calm and well maintained- don’t expect anything fancy

Cost: Apt for the services provided

Overall I recommend this place if you trust your body, your mind and the doctor.

Dr. Fatima is a rare gem in today's world. I was having ovarian cyst issue so I went to her and I came to know that I have to go for surgery as the cyst is pretty big. Frankly I was very tensed and scared before I met her. But after talking to her I got my confidence back. She suggested for few basic tests and nothing extravagant. I actually asked her whether to go for MRI and all! She simply said no need and I was perfectly fine with that as you can see the confidence and experience in her which really does matter. Within few days I went for the surgery at Alfa. Simple clean basic rooms with an attendant bed, and I was ok with that. She and her husband did the surgery and it was successful. On third day I came back home. The amount i have paid for the whole episode is nothing compared to other hospitals. And I was totally surprised the day I went for the check up after 10 days, Dr. Fatima refunded 5000/- as there was some miscalculation during the bill! I have no words to praise her. I delivered (it's a normal delivery) my second baby who is about 4 kilos on 9th Nov 2019 in Alpha clinic under Dr. Fatima maam's supervision. The doctor is wonderful, she is a gem and the team's patience and support is much appreciated. I started consulting there for conceiving my second pregnancy as I faced difficulty and it was delaying. She suggested very minimal medication. During my pregnacy also she didn't refer me for unnecessary tests. I was very happy with their consultation. Dr. Fatima was so supportive, she was available on call during my last two weeks of pregnancy. Hospital cleanliness and services are so nice. Though its not a fancy maternity home but their services are much appreciated. Me n my hubby are so satisfied. I would recommend Dr. Fathima any day. Thank you ma'am for your patience and support, you are wonderful.

Had a wonderful VBAC delivery at Alpha Clinic. I would like to appreciate Dr.fathima Poonewala for dedication and positive attitude. And going an extra mile to ensure a normal delivery at the same time makes sure that baby and mum are safe. The staff are very helping and positive. In my case even though my baby passed meconium in uterus, Dr.was ready to wait and ensure a normal delivery. Would suggest to anyone who wants to try for vbac or normal.

This is the best place for VBAC. I would highly recommend to those who are interested in VBAC. We feel Dr. Fathima is best & knowledgeable. We had our first baby through C-section at same clinic due to unavoidable circumstances but we had our second child through normal delivery. We were not confident and unsure because of common rumours that u can't have normal delivery after C-SECTION but our Dr. Fathima was really confident, she was supposed to be out of station on particular Delivery date but she postponed it for us. We were and will be thankful to her for such dedication n love shown to us.
One more thing we felt is she may be strict in her actions while dealing people or patients at clinic but she is Truth from heart.

The Doctor is very rude and absolutely no patience in answering any questions and wanted only her advise to be taken. Thankfully it was our first and last visit to this clinic. Least recommended!

I was recommended Dr. Fathima by my friend who herself is a Dr.
I stay near HAL and JP nagar was far to visit, but then we decided to visit Dr. Fathima and rest is history.
At times you might feel the doc is strict but trust me it’s required. As days passed with each appointment you’ll find her more concerned about you, infact if you missed an appointment she’ll remember and say that she is worried and how can you miss.
I never spoke to the doc for a normal delivery until the D day, as I believed in god and trusted the doc. Not to mention her caring staff, they are experienced the tense situations with ease.
Today I am a mother of 9 months old lovely daughter and feel blessed.

We had a brilliant water birthing experience here. Thanks to Dr. Fatima for holding her ground for a normal delivery. No medication to mother and child. Just pure natural water birth.

I am writing this review for such a wonderful experience we had with Dr. Fatima and her team in ALFA Clinic for the safe landing of our baby. By profession I am a mid-level software engineer, so we could afford with any other the top hospital in Bangalore, then why I landed here and decided to go with Dr fatima. In short, the answer is, Once you meet this highly experienced, honest, truly caring, and arrogant (sometimes arrogance lead to stay honest and within the boundary of once own principle) doctor, you will feel like you are under the guidance of such a strict mother who can only try to guide you into the ultimate best path to get your baby delivered. As per my experience here this review will only tell ALFA is for whom and not, will have a dedicated blog on my end to end experience here and will update the link in this review soon.
Should not visit ALFA If
-You want the doctor should treat in your direction. (Doctor Fatima only listen to the things which she thinks right for you)
-You need a cashless insurance service. (I don't think they have that facility)
-You need c-section should be done irrespective of you are in a condition to deliver your baby vaginally. (This place is famous for vaginal delivery)
-You are more worried about infrastructure than quality treatment. (With the principle of dedicated focus on each patient it won't be easy to scale up the business by making herself available with each patient physically)
-You need to be over respected as you are paying. (Nobody care for you here by seeing what you are, doc and her team only care for the patient)
Should visit ALFA If
-You need the expertise of a world-class doctor to get your baby to deliver with minimum expenses. (They are charging around 55K for vaginal and around 65K for c-section which I feel with such a doctor is very less)
-You prefer vaginal delivery compare to c-section (Though they are well equipped with advanced instruments and resources still they do not prefer unless it is the only option)
-You don't want to spend your hard-earned money on some unnecessary expensive tests. (Dr. Fatima has so much experience that she never prescribed any unnecessary tests.)
-You want a motherly touch from a doctor. (Dr. Fatima is highly emotional for her patient from inside of her heart though it won't be shown from outside. She always worried for her patients to serve them in the best possible way. She never treats for money but for the organization to move on she has to charge.)
-You want your husband’s company in each and every step of this journey including the labor room. (If your husband has the capability to assist you in the journey they will allow him, that will boost up your confidence)
Mam thanks a lot to you and your highly experienced team to get my baby to deliver safely. The effort you and your team put upon me though I had more chance of c-section and was ended up with a normal delivery is a miracle which only can be expected from you. I had a wonderful experience in ALFA in each and every step, I wish this to get extended in the future. If any of my points are not based on fact then please rectify it by comment so that people will have better clarity for the best work you are doing for them.
I would suggest everyone who is reading this should have a visit to ALFA for Dr. Fatima at least once to experience the fact and get the safe motherhood.

I would highly recommend Dr. Fatima to anyone who is trying for normal delivery or VBAC. One can be 100% sure that she will go to all extents possible (within safe limits) to make normal delivery possible, even if we give up. The Dr is up-to-date acquainting herself with the latest medical practice followed around the world for normal delivery and water birth and will provide all tips and guidance necessary for safe and natural delivery. She prescribes very important medicine called confidence and positive attitude to her patients. We are impressed by her commitment towards her patients and she provides the best care and support always.
