Visited this place specially to taste toddy as I had seen this place in one of the vlog. Taste of toody was just amazing. Me being vegetarian just got to try Veg curry and Neerdose it was a treat to tounge. Place is very clean. Must visit place when you are heading back from Kodi Bengre Beach.
Toddy was sour, no body got high even a percentage. Chicken sukha, neer dosa, boiled rice n fish curry, pomplet, shell sukha and prawns fry were just amazing. Same masala for both squid and prawns. A big thumbs up for food and thumbs down for toddy.
The place was closed at 12 noon. Couldn't savour the great location right between the river and the sea. What good is a cold toddy if you cannot get it at mid day
Quiet wayside place. Do not expect any fancy seating or exquisite cutlery. They serve home styled food local to the region. The place also serves toddy.
Food was amazing. They cook at home and serve hot. They have a shack just in front of their home, a bamboo small tent type thing. It's difficult to recognise but just follow the map you will reach at the point. You can enjoy food and toddy with the sea wave sound and at a very reasonable price if you want a local place and peaceful lunch then do visit.
Visited this small gem of a place while returning from Kodi Bengre. Amazing cold toddy, prawn fry besides Arabian sea waves and cool breeze. Toddy served in bottle or glass based on group or individual requirement. Neer dosa and chicken sukka are also icing on the cake. Great place which reminds of our favourite college hangouts. Also accepts phonepe
Nice place to have sea food around kodi bengare. Toddy is available here, but gets sold out by 3pm. Ample parking space and clean restroom are available. Beach is closely accessible from this place (over the rocks). Staff is courteous. Spent a good 1-2 hours here just to beat the mid-day heat.
A must Visit Place, one of the best experience I ever had in recent times, key highlights are there thoddy it's fresh an tastes just amazing, and their chicken sukka and the best was the seafood they are super fresh and tasty, i enjoyed this place a lot, come with your friends and just chill here, i promise you won't regret
Didnt like it. The taste of dishes also changes from day to day. No cordination nothing. You wait and keep on waiting once he felt its the time then he wl come to take order then again wait and wait and wait after an hour it wil come thats all. Only positive side is the ambience sitting on the shore. There too the negatives are there, dogs crows and all will be flying around to get the food from your plate
Possible the best location to have your meal with sea shore on one side and river on the other side. Sitting below the shade of coconut trees and sand below your feet. I enjoyed seafood alongside toddy. Totally recommended!
The quality of food is really nice, fresh. And the location is Preety awesome, no such crowd especially the beach. We enjoyed a lot. However, I felt the food price is bit on higher side than usual.
Unfortunately we landed there searching for a seafood fame restaurant the very day it was closed. There's no way to know if you have reached the destination. No board, no banner no way to find the place. Absolutely turned off the mood to know the place is closed after driving 28km just to enjoy the awesome foods.
Decent food, decent price, place also is ok, also the toddy was very refreshing, would definitely recommend others, and would visit whenever get opportunity.
I been alone I had lovely moment having toddy and some of coastal dish.watching lovely waves of sea.more over just listen to sea sound it make lot of sense
Great place to hangout with beautiful view the place is located between sea and backwaters vibe of the place is amazing to spend quality of time its one of the best place to have authentic sea food near Malpe if you are sea food lover this is the place best value for money responsive staff beautiful location must visit place.
Food is not super but environment, prices and the owner Arun welcome and treats the customers with a smile is the UPS. Cold toddy is awesome. Having cold toddy in-front of beach under the trees is next level.
Aruns place is a very old fixture on the kodi bengre road, the place is a basic setting next to beach on one side and river other side. The food is awesome and very fresh fish and yummy chicken with cool toddy with cool sea breeze is heavenly. Highly recommend.
5 star for toddy and food 0 star. Food is costly and also not tasty. Either salty or too much cooked and price is too high. 150 for a slice of fish in coastal places is not at all worth
Waiting times are very long, writing this review as I wait for my food. Been here for 2 hours now, I still don't see any food on my table, the guys who serve come and ask for order and forget that you exist, I usually don't write reviews but this amazing service forced me to write.
Please visit if you want to waste ur time here and starve. Adding my empty table in the attachment.
Arun anna is quite a popular figure in this area and localites know him very well for his quality of food and toddy and above all for his humbleness. It's an apt place for family or friends to enjoy chilled toddy beside sea shore with soothing music or sea waves. If you dont like toddy they also serve chilled beers on demand and based on availability. As the name suggests they are famous for sea foods and their Kori Rotti / Neer dosa-chicken sukka stands out. If you are a vegetarian, this place offers no food or starters whatsoever and that is a let down for which I had to reduce my rating to 4. Sea food and toddy lovers, just go!
If you are going to try Toddy or Kali, this is one of the best places around. The prices are affordable and the fish fries served here are heavenly. They have a variety of dishes and all freshly made and served. It's right in front of the beach (it's a stone walled beach so forget feet dipping in the water) and to sit on the stones and have a great time with your friends. The place is pretty crowded on weekends but the definition of crowd is in udupi standards (which means it's pretty empty for any city comparison). There's a lot of open space and you can easily find your corner. Best would be to take your car and park it there.
There's one more on Hoode beach which has a rolling beach but the service here is better.
Great sea food and toddy. It's like shacks. Lots of crows all around. Great location however you can't see the beach from where the shacks are because of the boulders blocking the view.
Enjoy the sun setting in the sea with a glass of cold toddi and fish fry at a secluded beach. Food is as good as the view you get. Perfect escape for an weekend eve.
Superb food with awesome beach views. Nice place to make party. Tasty seafood foods, neerdosa with chicken sikka is awesome. Toddy is super. We can enjoy the foods with natural winds. Totally superb.
I have visited n taken few of my friends there. Everyone enjoyed the food. You will enjoy the chicken sukka, fish fry n neer dosa. You will enjoy the food alot while sitting in front of sea with cool breeze blowing.
Will give 4 rating for food.
Cons: Initially the guy used to treat well. But these days his attitude towards customer has changed alot. He is the only guy who attends the customers.
Lot of sugar in toddy to make it sweet n watery. Too expensive for that quality of toddy. For hospitality I would give 1 For toddy also 1.
Great place to have toddy along with traditional style tulu cuisine. Do try neer Dosa along with chicken sukka and bondas (Squid) fry. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the sunset along with there things. Must visit place. The food is priced at a very low cost.
The place itself is crappy shed with cheap plastic tables - stained - and cheaper plastic chairs. Just forget about them. Concentrate on the location, the food, and the man. The location - in the middle of a palm grove, the stars overhead and the Arabian Sea crashing on a rocky beach just 100 feet away. Heavenly! The food - the freshest of seafood, cooked home style by Arun's mother and sister, accompanied by neer dosas and boiled rice. Magnificent! And let us not forget the chilled bottle of toddy to wash down the food. Ambrosia! The man - Arun is tireless dynamo, he rises at dawn, lays in the freshest toddy to chill, heads to the fishing port to bid for the best of the days catch, personally serves every customer from 12 noon to late at night. Respect!
