Here is where it all started!
Around 1895-1897 the Thakur family migrated from UP to Dharwad to escape the plague and Ram Ratan Singh Thakur started making Peda for a living. This was his house apparently and they used to make it in the house itself from Buffalo’s milk which is supposed to be thick. This Peda is now world renowned and has got multiple awards toto It’s name and a GI (Geological Identification) tag.
The taste is still better than the rest of the outlets in Dharwad with it’s milky taste and smooth texture.
The store only accepts cash and no other modes of transaction.
It’s sad to see it’s stature fall nowadays due to other brands who have better marketing, but believe me once you try this you won’t want anything else. A must try if you’re looking for an authentic Dharwad Peda.

Once upon time, Babusigh Pedha was world famous. Late Babusigh created a brand of himself. According to sources the traditional method of khova preparations, which required hard work and patience, has been given away. Hence there is huge difference in quality and delicacy. Now the next generations are not that committed and interested. Now there are many players. But nobody matches the taste of THE ORIGINAL BABUSIGH.

Dharwad pedha got famous because of Shri Thakurji, very tastey pedhas. Now they have several branches.

The original Pedha place I reduced a star as they do not accept UPI / Cards they accept only cash, The Dharwad Peda is amazing in taste but getting to this exact shop is a challenge unless you have local people who can show you the place.

The main branch of the 175 years old Babusingh Thakur Peda. Excellent taste and quality sweets provided. They have the Dharwad Pedas packed and it moves very quickly.

It is almost a universal brand. The city of Dharwad carriers the brand name of PEDHA which is a sweet made of milk. The pedha carries unique taste.

In Dharwad this is the first and original shop where Dharwad peda was started.
The same quality and taste is maintained till now. If you keep this peda open for 10 days this peda will still be soft.

Worth a try once a bit sweet for my liking but it's good I don't know if it still tastes the same as it would during old times.

This shop is in line bazar near rama temple.
This one seems to be the famous Babusingh sweet shop.

They do accept upi and cash for payment.
But there are so many sweet shops near by with same name with original name postfix to it.

Place for original Dharwad pedha. Unfortunately, only cash is accepted. UPI, Credit/debit cards payments are not accepted. Because of this only 2 stars.

This is the original outlet of the legendary Babu Singh Thakur pedha outlet.

There are many shops with the same name and one might find it difficult to spot the original one.

Please look at the picture of the Board for reference.

Needless to say, the place is famous for Dharwad pedha.

Staff is so arrogant and they don't have any digital payment method, and no card payment also only cash payment they accept!

I use to stay in madihal peth, dharwad. In my child hood days we use to stand in queue at early morning say 6 am to get these pedhas. Only one kgs supposed to get for one person. Suddenly, I got opportunity to test those memories while buying it from your new shop in govinda building panaji goa. Thanks for opening sweet memories shop near by me. I brought much more, without any reason.

Authentic Thakur pedha outlet, also you can get snacks. Pedhas are best of all in Dharwad, very crisp and tasty.

There are like 5-6 shops with the same name in vicinity. All of them sell the same boxed Pedha. Doesn't matter where you buy

I have eaten this Peda several times since past 40-45 years.

They are original. Even if I eat 5-6 Peda at a time, my stomach will not get upset.

The other Peda like (Mishra Peda) are all duplicate. Even if I eat one single Peda, my stomach will get upset.

The real reason could be original and adulterated Kova.

Hence, if you want to eat some delicious and original Peda, then try out this brand.

Earlier they used to sell in limited quantities. But now they are available in bulk also.
