A simple place to relish authentic jowar (millet) roti meal and holige- a cousin of pooranpoli.
They stick to basics and excel at it.
Place is very basic, but quality of food is very good.

If anyone needed to have pure vegetarian food no doubt then can visit here and have there lunch and dinner. No castism anyone can ever one is same and food served with love. When ever I go isee all people have there food

I recently dined at Basaveshwar Kanavhali in Hubli, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The full meals they offered were simply delicious and left me feeling fully satisfied. Despite the somewhat disappointing ambience, the delightful food and efficient service make Basaveshwar Kanavhali a place I would still recommend to fellow food enthusiasts. If you're in the mood for a scrumptious meal and don't mind the ambiance, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Went on 02/07/2023 night around 8: 40pm after noon food was served, no item was hot, clearly u will come to know it was prepared in the afternoon that much cold but meal price is their regular price 150rs, quality is not good I suggest not to go to this KHANAVALI

Simple mess serving good quality Jollad/jowar roti North Karnataka meal. Not too spicy. Clean, nothing fancy. Quick service. You get holige for an additional price.

A taste of north Karnataka! Authentic Hubballi Dharwad cuisine. Loved the holige. Service is great. They do have a branch in Bangalore near Anand Rao circle and the ingredients are sent from Hubballi to every night. A place to taste a different food for a regular Bangalorean.
The hotel itself is a bit old style but adds to originality however the stairs and approach might seem a bit not up to the mark but worth the experience.

Basaveshwar Khanavali is known for its TASTE! You get 2 rotis, 2 sides, raita, a dhokla and unlimeted Rice and Sambar in a Jolada Rotti Oota. Taste is just unmatchable!

Price is a bit on the higher note as it's situated in the heart of the City- Chennamma Circle!

One of the best jolad rotti uta I have ever had, authentic taste, service is also too good. Loved the taste of all the palya's too. And holige was yumm.

One of the best restaurant for lunch/dinner to have north Karnataka vegetarian food. Taste of hot jawar bahakri and variety of bhaji was very good. The service is also quick. The Holige (Puran Poli) is too tasty. Must visit.

Lives up to the hype, a must visit place when you need all veggies in life. Had been here for lunch expected a crowd as it was Sunday and time was around 2.30pm but as we walked in we got shared space. Ordered Holige oota. Service is quite quick. I liked the taste of everything and enjoyed the food. Couple of things which i feel should have been added are atleast a sweet to the main dish and Papad. Haven't taken any photos but it was quite big thali with 3 different bhaji and 2 jawar rotis cost was 140 for normal meal and 170 for Holige oota.

I went by a good recommendation that they are famous for jwar roti meals. But i personally not found it good. My experience was bad. Very small restaurant. Very congested. Not hygienic at all. There was some insects roaming around there. Staff was not properly trained. Food was not tasty at all. Price is economical but any other thing is not upto the mark. Not recommended

Waste of Money, Nothing special, for 1 Holige, 2 Rotti, 4 Varieties Palya, Little Rice you have to pay 175 Rs. And the hotel interior looks horrible, no clean. Personally I don't like.

Overhyped place. The lunch is priced high but offered with lesser options of food and the taste of food is also not so great.

Authentic northern Karnataka jolada rotti meal. I give 5*stars for the food. Every bite u love to have of this meal. This is a old school khanavali, set years ago to cater to travellers, owning to the bus stand being nearby it was and still frequented by the traveling crowd from nearby villages and towns.

The place is no frills, please set your expectations accordingly.

The ambiance may not be great, but service and food will make up for it.

The food is always on point and authentic, this food is usually cooked by the lingayat community and they too are patrons of this place.

Parking can be a problem, there is idgah maidan in front, you can park there provided you get space.

Must try place. Loved the food. This is the original and the oldest Basaveshwar Khanavali in Hubli. It is pocket friendly. As on October 2021, Meals are charged at 140/- which includes 2 hot jolladd rotti, three types or curries, chutney pudi, salad, and rice, rasam, curd, pickle. Everything is unlimited except the rotti. You can take 3 rottis if you dont want rice. However you can buy extra rottis at 10/- each. They serve holige also which will cost extra.
The ambience is not so great. It is a small place but the food is amazing and homely. The staff is also friendly.

It is like a small hotel with less seating, budget friendly.liked their curries (don't remembered the names though). For solo travelers it is the best place to have lunch at reasonable price.

We visited here for dinner. Taste was good. They gave one jawar roti n rice n sabzies. Chatnet powders pickle, curry are unlimited. The thali was really good. If you want pooram poli is available. Price was little expensive. The restaurant is infront of Sri kada Siddheshwar college, vidyanagar.parking is available.

Had a roti meals here. Taste is very good and felt like authentic north Karnataka food. Chutney pudi was also very nice. It's right next to chennamma circle.

Cons:
Stingy with curries, Onion slices. Even on asking, we are served minute portions. This is a let down, when you enter paying 120Rs.

Table & chairs are smaller, really smaller. At peak hours, gets tuff to eat

Biggest let down. No fries, aka, no happala/paapad, sandige, The junakada vade doesn't cut it.

A very good North Karnataka style food which is very tasty like home made food. This is also very nutritious and healthy. Must try if you get opportunity though the ambience is not so great.

Food Taste is also good, quality and staff behavior is also upto the mark. Interiors is good.

Not clean n sorry to say that it's too oily n dirty people. They don't cook food in a clean manner they scratch their hairs n oily skin n cook with the same hands without wearing glows.

I took a parcel out of there but I understood it is very crowded in afternoon I would suggest to go soon very affordable for college students

Amazing authentic North Karnataka food - Jolada rotti - Jowar bread, with ranjaka (red chilli chutney) and other dishes to go along with the rotis. Awesome lip smacking, finger licking simple thali meal.
Reasonably priced for 2 rotis, 4-5 types of side dishes, ample quantity of rice, rasam & curds. Can ask for more rotis. They come at a per piece price, so also the sweet holigey-
If interested can have sweet - peanut Holigey or regular dal Holigey.
Rice, rasam and all side dishes are unlimited quantity.

Main important things I noticed same taste, authentic jawari jolada rotti meals with all decorated vaggies and sweet holige (optional) too full meals is another speciality. Only no.seating is the problem Since its an one of the oldest khanavali. I always prepare to visit when I plan to Hubballi.

A typical small Khanavali (restaurant) serving North Karnataka meals. Amazing food with average ambience. They have a small family section for seating too. No menu card or Ala- carte items; They serve typical North Karnataka cuisine with Jollad (Jowar) rotti, 3 Palle (Subzi), Jhunka, Chutneys, North Karnataka salad, Rice, Sambar, curds, butter milk. Meal costs Rs. 110. Cards not accepted.
Restaurant is on the 1st floor, right at Chenamma circle. Parking might be a problem, so one needs to search for some place around the Idgah maidan. But for a authentic North Karnataka cuisine, it's a must-visit.

Great taste, Simple food accompanied by variety of chutneys. Bhakri was custom made for us being the first customers for lunch.
Mr. Ravi among the serving staff is very co-operative and serves with a smile.
