Belagavi Fort (ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಕೋಟೆ) is in the city of Belgaum, in the Belgaum district, in Karnataka state, India. It was begun by Jaya Raya, also called Bichi Raja, an ally of the Ratta Dynasty, in the year 1204 AD. It has undergone several renovations over the centuries under dynastic rulers of the region. The fort, built with fine ramparts and a large moat, has a rich history with historical and religious monuments dated to the Adil Shahi dynasty. The fort's history is traced to the Ratta Dynasty with lineage to the Rashtrakuta Dynasty (earlier chieftains of Saundatti, who later shifted their capital to Belgaum), Vijayanagara rulers, Bijapur Sultans or Bahmanis, Marathas (Shivaji Maharaj) and finally by the British in that order. Before Rattas, Shatavahanas, Chalukyas and Kadambas from Goa have ruled over the region

Fine. Nothing great about it as such. Bad roads. You can visit Ramkrishna Ashrama or Kamal Basati, or even Durga temple. You can have nice photoshoot near Kamal Basati and good meditation experience at Ramakrishna Ashrama.
Great location in the heart of city. People mostly came for morning walk. Entrance there is Ganapati and Devi Mandir. Lush greenery and old trees. Very safe as its controlled by Mahar Regiment. Fort having only walls and Khandak outside wall.
It's a very big area under Military Fort as such has nothing peculiar about it There are few temples and mosques located at different places in this large area as the fort was under the control of Muslim and Hindu rulers at different point the history of this place Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned here during the freedom fight and it's said that Swami Vivekananda had visited this same place and there they have built and ashram in his name If you like to take an hour walk through nice green land, i would suggest this place

[1][2] The fort has been captured in battles many times, as the possession of local rulers, until the region was stabilized by the British Raj. It is notable in modern history because Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned by the British in this fort during India's freedom struggle. [1]
This is an old-fashioned fort, consisting of 115 TA battalions of the Indian army. There are also Kamal Basti, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram and Dargah. The castle is surrounded by water and is beautiful to look at.
A Historic Fort of Jain Kings and Marathas once Ruled with the Beauty of Nature nd the Unique architecture for it's own defence. Fort has Two Gates 1st Main Gate The Durga Gate and 2nd Parbat Ali Gate. It Also has many Tempels Of Jain, Shiva And Durga which has a Vast History.it also has Mosque Might be Built by any Islamic Emperor. Ramkrishna mission of Belgaum is Also Located in This Fort. This Fort is Yet More To Be Discovered
An important evidence of history, poorly maintained by concerned authorities. You can walk/drive around the fort, climb up to the wall at certain locations. Kamal Basti (located within the fort area) is worth visiting. Wish this was converted into a beautiful tourist attraction and well maintained.
This was a nice place to visit.specually the KAMLBASTI and RAMKRISHNA MISSION MATH are outstanding. Visit once in a life. Full silent and peace of mind place.
Belgaum Fort is a nice tourist destination in Belgaum city. Fort is surrounded by a moat. You can visit Durga temple, Jain temples, Mosques and Ramkrishna mission ashram. Overall Nice Ambience. Must visit place For all ages.
Belgaum has a very rich and a very old history owing to the ratta dynasty and later on to the britishers. Belagaum fort is one such place where u will feel calm and peace at the same place and at the same time it gives u a feel of how belgaum would have been in the old era. The best part of this place is it is under the control of army which just makes the place more disciplined and ordered. If you want to have a walk in the evening do visit this place you will love it. ️
One off my favorite places of Belgaum, Lots of tree cover filled with positive energy, Swamy Vivekanand stayed in one off premises in this fort for 9 days, now known as Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Beautiful Kamal Basti in this fort is nothing less than Bellur & Halebeddu temple's. In general best place to relax in midst of city.
The fort is located near the city and railway station. You can take an auto or a cab to reach here. Some part of the fort is now occupied by military services. There are lot of interesting things inside the old fort area like big gates, remains of forts, an old jain temple, one historical ruined shiva temple, few old mosques and darghas, one devi temple and plenty of greenery. The jain basati is rich with lot of stone carvings and architecture. Overall it is a good place to visit when you are in belgaum
One of the best place in city when you want to spend peace time. All area covered with lush green tress. No disturbance nothing. Here daily people come for morning and evening walk. Here you have Durga Devi temple, ancient Jain Temple and a mosque. You have here Army Recruitment office. Mahar Battalion 115 regiment. And PWD offices also.
There is a surpirise in store. There is no fort there.) Actually its all milotary setup. The fort just has gate. Rest all is gone. There is a 12th century Jinalaya though with statue of lord neminath. That is worth visiting
Very rare jain temple. And idol made of semi precious stone.there is a lotus which is designed in a way that it appears upside down and therefore its called basti kamal temple.architectural marvel.must visit
It has nice decent weather when ever you go. You find peace in those greenery in the fort. And best place to jog and learn bikes and have a pleasing environment in Kamal basti area and Vivekananda ashram was one of the attraction of belgaum fort
It was not easier to go to this place bcz of lack of transportation. But It was adventurous while visiting there. If you go, you'll definitely have fun
The fort has several Hindu Temples, Mosques, Military Offices and Military Canteen. It's rich in Flora and fauna. There are different resident birds, spiders and insects which you can't see in other parts of the city.
Fort was built by Ratta Dynasty kings in 13th century and later it was ruled by Bijapur sultans. Fort is built with Ramparts and moat. Once Mahatma Gandhiji was imprisoned by British in the same fort. Now the fort is under the control of state government and 115 Mahara Infantry Regiment. Durga Devi Temple, Swami Vivekananda Ashrama, Kamal basadi, Chikki basadi and Mosque are visiting places in fort area. One must visit here before 11Am and after 4Pm to 7Pm
Really nice n silent place. One can go for morning walk here. Around 3 n half km walking track is available. Fantastic weather and fresh air. For meditation you can walk in swami vivekananda ashram situated inside fort
Not exactly fort, total island area called as fort. 2 temples are near to each other at Kamal basti & other temples are also there. Quite place to visit
Not maintained at all. I could not even dare to enter in with family. Drop idea of visiting if you're thinking. Rather visit Ramakrishna mission in walking distance.
