This is one of the major government certified emporium in Mysore. They sell all the artefacts and exclusive sandal soaps and sarees. They also sell all types of handicrafts made in Mysore by their native people. The prices are quite reasonable and the emporium is quite spacious. They sell different types of soaps and health care products which contains sandal and many medicinal products. The shop contains is the only certified emporium for sales of sandal exclusive products.
This is a grand shop run by state government in Mysore, Karnataka. Where you can buy original Sandalwood items, antique, soaps at very reasonable rate. As it belongs to the government so, no chances duplicate/ fake sandalwood item! Worth spending money, that will go to original, needy people (artists)
A little disappointed. I have been a regular visitor to Cauvery Emporium over the last 20 years. It is my go-to destination for any gifting occasion. I still remember it being stacked floor to roof with a whole range of Karnataka’s brilliant handicrafts! Hand crafted, hand painted, hand loom, they had them all! But over the last few years, the collection had drastically reduced. Today, I hardly found any of my favourite Channapattana wooden toys, or the unique Bidri metal work. Many of Karnataka’s trademark handicrafts were missing. The usual festival charm of the place was also lost.
For the first time in years, I actually saw empty table tops and bare walls. I hope Cauvery Emporium can regain it’s lost glory.
There are a variety of things that one can take back as souvenirs from Mysore! Try the fragrance sachets that are sold here.they are extremely useful. Also, don't forget to have a look at the multiple wooden carved artefacts here.if you are a collectionner, you might love them!
Nice place for buying sandal wood and wooden craft products, it is costlier than places like Coorg. Agarbhathis are cheap and Mysore sandal soap and powder is very cheap and very famous don't miss it. Apart from it buy wooden bangles and keychains are really good in this place
The authentic showroom run by the government where you can find authentic and original products such as sandalwood pieces, handloom, traditional Mysore art and craft products. This is the only showroom in Mysore. THEY DO NOT HAVE BRANCHES IN MYSORE.
Good place to buy antique items of mysore. Little bit costly but worthy. We can buy wooden crafts like Mysore palace, war items, sandalwood, wooden elephants, dasara crafts, antique anklets and chains etc.
There are only three original cauvery's which are run by the government. One of those and the main one is this. We can find orginal sandalwood and even attars.
One of the best fine craft chiselled on various woods, specialised on mysore Sandalwood, if any wants trusted crafts it's cauvery emporium at Mysore, sayaji Rao road
No mask discipline at all. People here couldn't care less about their own rules. Though they have a sign out in the front stating that masks are compulsory, none of the staff have masks on their mouth & nose.
This is one of the earliest and foremost sales and display centre for handicrafts of Karnataka in Mysore. This is owned and operated by Government of Karnataka. It has a wide range of handicrafts including wood, silk, metal and others. This is the prime centre for furnitures and panels made of rosewood, with designs exclusive to this part of Karnataka. One can also find sculptures made from sandalwood. This shop also sells sandalwood logs and pieces of different sizes and weights at fair prices legally. One can find perfumes and soaps made with sandalwood oil here, in addition to other handicrafts.
Original items like sandalwood and many other things like rosewood inlay worked furnitures etc are available, original pashmina shawls, sarees, chennapatana toys, etc are available, this is a govt store.

4 stars for art collect Minus 1 star for not allowing us to take photographs
We visited this store back in 2010 and now in March 2020. There is no difference or improvement. This looks like a typical government office with people sitting to clock in the required hours of the day. No effort are made to educate tourists or sell their products. Cob webs are seen on displayed furniture! Once you decide to buy something, you have to pay at one window and collect at the other! It makes one wonder how multi tasking is done at shopping malls and how we employ one person for each small job that is to be done. We wondered if this shop even gets 10 customers per day!
The place has really great collection of handicrafts by various artisans across Karnataka. The price is on the higher side but it is justified as they are authentic crafts made be artisans under the Craft Development Board of the state of Karnataka. You can also buy a lot of sandalwood products including pieces of raw sandalwood, for which you would be given a bill and permit.
This place is best place. It is the government shop. There are many shops named Cauvery. But the original and govt.owned is near to the Mysore railway station. It's costlier. Sandalwood powder. Sandalwood concentrated perfume. No sample available.you need to buy and try. Good place.
If you want to buy genuine Sandalwood product then this place if perfect.have purchased lots of perfume and sticks.even brought 3 rosewood elephants. (INR 1600 with GST).
Only cons is they do not provide any carry bag and you need to purchase the same by paying INR 25 extra.
The place is for antiques and sandal wood carvings. A lot of variety to look and select to gift your friends and family or to buy decorative items. This is a genuine place but the price of each item is costly. You get everything that a house needs and the place is near to Mysore railway station. In case you are in Mysore a must place to visit and have a look.
Good collection of contemporary articles. Quite expensive for normal middle classes. Good option for tourists and anyone would like to purchase stuffs in bulk. No bargain, fixed prices. Staffs are kind of lazy as it was not at all crowded.
Govt.emporium so has all authentic stuff but silk is quite priced. Starts at 3k for like a small scarf. There are other little items you can buy too. Worth going if you're interested in handicraft or jewellery.
Expensive. But must buy item is the sandalwood scent packets for cupboards. There are other items whose price is reasonable such as certain home decor items. If you're willing to splurge, this place will not disappoint you with it's unique collection.
