CGH Earth - SwaSwara

We were family of 3 on a road trip from Mumbai to Belgaum- Sringeri and reached Swa swara at night. Warm welcome by staff and thanks to Ms Tejashree to explain the activities available in resort. We checked into Konkan villa B6. Its a a beautiful villa and captures the rural ambience so well. However my wife and son became extremely sick with the long travel and just took rest for the 2 days. So we couldn’t really enjoy the facilities of this wonderful resort. Many thanks to Peter for giving ORS satchets and to chef for preparing curd rice and also the fruit baskets. My family recovered fast and fit to travel back to Mumbai. Such a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. 27 acres of pure greenery. Entire staff is so courteous and friendly.thanks to the wonderful staff and also the peaceful atmosphere that allowed complete rest to family. We will definitely come next time and enjoy staying in Swa Swara and do sightseeing in Gokarna.

We enjoyed every bit of nature around us. The chirping birds, lakes, the greenery. The villa was very spacious with antique decor and furnitures.
The food was satvic, healthy and very tasty.

I stayed at this resort when I went on a solo trip and I felt so safe there. The location is wonderful and the rooms are incredibly clean.

This resort is a perfect place to seek solace and get disconnected from the daily routines. Staff is super friendly and will go an extra mile to make things happen. Being a yoga retreat there are several yoga & meditation sessions & awesome food to go. Pottery classes and early morning meditation is a must to explore

The property has beautiful konkan villas which were so calm and peaceful to stay in. There is easy access to Om beach via the property. I loved the ambience, hospitality and overall concept of the resort. Just amazing!

We had lovely time in CGH Earth Swaswara Gokarna. The Konkan villa was superb. Front desk and all staffs were very cooperative. Food was excellent, kudos to the chefs who made customisation based on needs. It goes without saying, Ayurvedic massage was the highlight. Property is on the on om beach and our family had good time in the beach. Overall a wonderful and peaceful place.

Excellent location, food is healthy with very less oil. No sugar is used in tea, instead Jaggarry is provided. Rooms are big and gives the vibes of heritage home

We recently were in Swaswara & had great time. The place reminds one of old castle amidst wild beauty of nature n is uniquely nestled between lush green vegetation n sea. The staff in front ofc - Ratish n Prashant & Srikanth n Gautam in dining, were very warm n hospitable. While accessibility may be bit challenging, yet place is really really beautiful. Must visit!

I want to take this review opportunity and list down my experience of staying at the Swaswara resort by CGH Earth almost a year ago. The stay was overall fantastic, with an excellent view of the manmade lakes from our room as well from the balcony. We booked 2 konkan villa for 5 nights stay. The villa was beautiful, spacious, clean and extremely comfortable.
We were under the impression it is like any other resort you see dotted along indian west coast. But once we are there we realized it tailored for certain type of clientele that i don't particularly consider myself to be part of.

They had some rules which might have made sense to others but for us it were disorienting if not down right weird. Some of them are as follow
Wifi only in their library
No room service (including food, drinks or anything)
Breakfast finished early dinner starts bit late.
No tv in room. (one can argue you are on holiday why you wish to be on room watching tele but i have a mother who is 80+years old. She dont like to go around much. Her idea of good time is nice cup of tea and watching tv and also during our stay it was raining 24x7.ofcourse hotel can't control or predict weather.
No tv could have solved if we had wifi in room which we didn't.
I have been told the hotel room cleaning crew were told not to accept any tips from the holiday maker or they might loose their job but i found the people at the restaurant were openly accepting tips and even vying for it in some cases. Sad to see disparity among working member of the hotel.

The hotel staff at the pool, rooms, restaurant and the reception were extremely friendly, courteous, helpful and made our stay comfortable and memorable. If we ever come to gokarna we might stay at swa swara again.

Average property. More maintenance required. Overpriced for a 4 star property with a limited service and no room service for food. Also bathroom is not attached with the bedroom which can be difficult for kids to manage. No welcome drink. Anyway food was awesome and staffs were very nice.

I understand that while living with "nature" you have to deal with insects. But finding "live insects" in the food, and that too "twice in a row" is something at least I was not comfortable with. Fresh mangoes on Day 1 breakfast had live insects crawling out of it. On complaining to the server he just said sorry and took 10 minutes to just remove the plate and insect from the table. On repeated asking even, the chef was not told about it. Dry figs the next day breakfast had another live insect.this time the chef was kind enough to come out and accept the issue. The first thing which the GM, told me, upon hearing this incident from me said "Why did you not escalate this matter yesterday" and the second thing she said was "sorry". We are still in the hotel, as wife has puked twice after consuming these figs.

Fabulous place. Very very well maintained. Beautifully designed villas with the signature red stones. A smalll garden INSIDE every villa. Nice pool. Beachfront of the resort is brilliant. Good food too. Crowd is also as very select and is certainly the cream.

Everything was very good, but my average rating given to you is just because of food, food was too poor, tasteless, and me and my wife both had stomach ache and my wife also vomited, may be because of food we ate there, we dint eat anywhere else except resort, lunch and dinner both we had at cocum restaurant only, and that night we have to be awake all night just because of upset stomach, too bad food quality and tasteless, i have stayed in many 5 star properties across India and also in many nature eco resorts, but never had such a bad experience regarding food, otherwise resorts best quality is about their food only, but sorry to say i was very disappointed with the food.

Very, Very bad service in my life.driver not allowed to hotel, restorent, fresh up, no proper parking. Maskitos problem, even driver not allowed to atleast restroom. Without driver how the customer can reach ur hotel. If u r treat driver like these. Next time no one driver can not accept the trip to ur hotel. Orelse they refused or misguide to costomer about ur hotel. Ultimately ur business will come down. Kindly treat customer is our God. It say by Mahatma Gandhiji.it means drivers is also customer subordinate.

Therefore it is requested u to kindly give facilities to customer drivers atleast refreshing and restroom facility.

Resort has great ambience and spacious villas. Staff is good and hospitable. Beach access is a posi6point Vegetarian food is pathetic for the price they offer. Limited menu for Ala carta and exorbitant prices. Rooms can be better, not very safe.

Definitely worth of money and I’ll stay here again, I spent 1 night here from along with family and kids. We had a lovely time here. Private acess to Om beach, beach side restaurant and well designed villas with lots of open space, swimming pool, healthy food, not only restaurant it’s a property to see at least once in a life. New concept I’ll plan to spent here minimum 2 night along with my close guest each and every time. Pls don’t go with negative comments, must visit once in your life. This nature cum ayur resort is like all other signature CGH group resorts.
Location is excellent, fabulous, fantastic etc.
Though it is a ayur, yoga type of resort meant for people to stay here for weeks.
It is best suited for couples, families, old people with shorter stays.
The villas and cottages are superb.
We stayed in konkan villa beside the pond. It is just like village home with all the features of a
Beautiful village house. With open space in center, backyard opens to the pond.
The room is perfect. First floor is best for sitting and sipping a cup of tea. The open bathroom brings back the memories of old people who had come from villages.
And the villa give the feel of a village for this generation, But with all latest amenities.
No TV, WiFi in the room which forces you to forget other things and allows you to enjoy the resort.

They have everything like yoga rooms, Meditation hall, ayurvedic massage, doctor etc.

The om beach is at walkable distance with private approach. You can enjoy the beach at any time. They have perfect changing rooms near the beach where you can shower and change your dress.
There are other restaurants at the beach.

The restaurant in resort is very good but with limited menu. Vegetarian and Only seafood is available. The food was excellent.
The buffet breakfast had excellent healthy food items not 50,60 items like in star hotels.
A large swimming pool for all ages.
The whole of the resort is a place to be enjoyed staying at least for 2,3 days.
The gokarna temple is 10 minutes drive from the resort.
All other beaches can also be visited easily.
Overall full 5 stars.

Swaswara is not just a usual resort stay but an experience to live. Firstly, the 24 konkan villas are absolutely breathtaking. It gives you a feeling of visiting your grand ma's house. The villas has an open sky bathroom, a verandah opening to a beautiful waterbody which is basically the in house rain water harvesting and a beautiful reading room to relax on first floor. Secondly, the resort keeps you engaged with various activities to detox and destress yourself. I throughly enjoyed the meditation at the hill top meditation hut offering beautiful beach views, yoga practices, cooking sessions and pottery making at the art studio. They also offer ayurvedic treatments based on doctors consultation.
Thirdly, the food offered by them is inline with detoxifying your body. Authentic South Indian food with very less oil and correct amount of spices. P. S.they don't use refined sugar only powder jaggery for all desserts and drinks.
Overall, my experience was extremely theuropatic and would recommend to try it out if your looking for such experience.

Totally agree with room refurbishment comments mentioned earlier. There were toads and insects in open area facilities.
Compared to other hotels offering similar ambience and services I've been to, this place needs lot of improvement.
Another note the intercom service in our room did not work and when informed staff simply denied instead of checking. Appreciate better response.
Overall experience compared to the cost was very poor.

While the concept of the property is great and must have been wonderful in its heydays, it is now over 10 years old and needs refurbishment. Being close to the beach and situated inside a forest are its plus points. Enjoyed the stay overall.

Placed right on om beach, this beautiful property seems to have got most things right. Earth buildings, water harvesting, flora, fauna, swimming pool etc. I find the place so safe for women traveling alone as well. If you want easy access, choose cottages near the reception area but if you want to watch langurs, pond herons, Kingfisher etc from your window, then the remote cottages after c1 are perfect.

Awesome experience experience during our stay in SwaSwara, Gokarna. The three days were filled with Beach, nature, Pottery.yoga.and temple visit. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Dining place and food was just loved it. Thank you for taking care of us.on week of July 6th.

I had a great time here.stayed for 5 days.best part I liked is food.even though I stayed for 5 days, I never got bored.menu was different. I have stayed in many 5 star resorts but menu used to get repeated n bored at the end of 3 days.but here menu is different and also tasty. I am very thankful for the chef for creating different Soups every day.i never thought that there are so many variety of soups, very tasty n natural flavours.my favourite was pineapple rasam in the 4 days.plz mail me the recipie if possible.i would like to thank chef for the different varieties of sea food he prepared which are very fresh n locally sourced. I liked the localness of the menu.second thing which I liked is the architecture of rooms.very open and natural.liked the plants and grass inside the rooms.one star less coz breakfast menu could have a little more varieties.overall very great.

It's family destination, No Internet and Entertainment, Just spend time with Family. Must visit and stay.

Ambience and location, as you see in the photos, was awesome. 2/5 for hospitality. Service staff was finding it very difficult to manage so many people. We have to wait for half an hour even to get a cup of tea or a toast. The resort is also not pet friendly and ironically the resort has two dogs. Despite making several requests; their policies are not flexible and they seldom care about customer satisfaction. We found that they could have easily accomodated pets and that would never disrupt their "So-called" ambience especially when they have lots of space inside each villas. So do not expect great hospitality or customer care when you go for swaswara.

4 stars for the location of the resort and courteous restaurant staff.
It took us 5 calls and 3 hours of wait time to get the room cleaned.

This place is a complete relaxation spot. Had spent 3 days and nights at this resort. The sounds of nature and silence is something worth the stay. The villas are spacious with one king size AC room, extended backyard sitting area, open bathroom, foyer, Lake in the backyard and viewing deck on 1st floor. All of this is fabulous. The only negative is the in house catering/ servicing. The resort doesn't follow buffet system for any meal. So one has to wait for good 20 mins for even a boiled eggs (leave alone other dishes). The at room catering isn't possible so even it means and if you plan to have tea at viewing deck during rains you will either have to get it yourself from the restaurant within the campus or walk in the rains till the restaurant to enjoy tea during the rains (that is why one star less). Besides the long wait at restaurant, everything is totally worth it. The bonus point is this resort has it has its own private beach and one can walk to the beach following a natural cleaned path (not paved).

This is a beautiful place. It's like a mini forest itself. You have yoga sessions multiple times during the day so you can attend as per your convenience. A library, pottery, painting classes The resort has direct beach access. They have locker room for ease. Food was tasty but it's a fixed menu. Food gets little boring if you have plan to stay little longer. Villas are beautiful and have unique experience.

A wellness resort with excellent hospitality, very well maintained, clean surroundings with spacious rooms. One can feel connected to nature and close to beach. Had authentic food with less oil in calm, peaceful environment. Great destination for relaxating holiday.

The stay was awesome. It's an ayurvedic centre so it's really for adults and i would not recommend for people below 20. We had a 2 night stay and checked out on December 8th 2020 Must visit for a relaxing weekend

Spent 3 relaxing nights at Swaswara and went back home wanting to experience it once again. The best part of the property is the location. Set right next to Om Beach, the property is located inside a huge green space with flowers, ponds, and fruit trees. Perfect for walking around! These is an easy access to the beach and if you like yoga or sunsets you must spend some time at the Meditation Hill view point.

The rooms are actually villas where you get a bedroom, a bathroom, a closet space, a sit out with a garden and another sitout on top. The space ensures you have total privacy and large enough spaces to meditate, or just relax. Our room overlooked a small pond that is used to harvest rainwater and from here you can hear the sounds of the ocean.

This is primarily a wellness retreat but if you are looking for a space where you can enjoy solitude and luxury then check this out. Food is unbelievably tasty even though they hardly use any masala or oil. We were surprised to see how they cook without oil during our cooking sessions.

Activities include yoga, meditation, pottery, cooking classes, nature walks, beach walks, swimming, art and craft and lots more.

So much to do and much more to experience. In short, if you want a luxury coupled with natural surroundings then swaswara is one of the best places in coastal karnataka.

We had a total cleansing and rejuvenating stay! Had a lot of quality family time! Doctors and therapists are good and service is excellent. There is a library and art gallery for those who want solitude. Loved it

A resort in Gokarna having its own private view of the beach. The place is cozy and they serve okayish food. One of the better resorts if you are planning to visit Gokarna. This place is recommended for staying if you are coming to Gokarna. It's located near the Om beach and have the provision of Spa, Yoga, etc.

Not enough food items and drink options. The quality seems ok but there is no food in the containers. Overall ambience is fine

Om beach! Closest access to a beach in Gokarna is this, apart from mahabelleshwaram. One has to take a walk for like 400 metres to reach here. Decent beach! Only beach in Gokarna which offer water sports; speedboat, banana ride etc. Hence the place is mostly crowded. Food at namaste cafe is recommended

I had my best 7 nights stay in SwaSwara. It is luxury meet wellness, lovely place to have your ME TIME. The whole property is within 24 - 25 acre land, so you definitely won't get bored. The idea of creating SwaSwara is to connect with Nature and mostly with self. The staff is very courteous and cooperative. Big thanks to the Chef and his team for serving us with delicious healthy meals every day, me and my group are a big fan of your falooda with mango ice-cream and cookies. Thanks alot for making our stay as comfortable as possible.
