You need leave your shoes at the start due to temple. It’s no more a true hiking place it used to be long back. There is forest check point where you need to pay vehicle and person entry fee.
No information center or toilets available so tread carefully. There are 400 steps that lead to the temple and beyond that you can climb on a steep rock by holding the rails with steps carved onto the monolith. Take your own water and food. Again NO TOILETS AVAILABLE! The view from the top is beautiful though.
Walking barefoot is good for the feet, climb a little hill and look at Ramdev's temple, Kote Anjanayaswamy temple and climb a little further, there is a small carving of Anjaneya from where a large climbing stone can be climbed with the help of handrails. At the top, the stunning 360-angle view of the surroundings is breathtaking. Be careful when taking photos at the end of the hill as there are no side walls/railings anywhere. There were no eagles.
One of the best trekking and hiking areas among all the places which are near to Bengaluru. Beautiful scenery while going up though the road to parking area is very difficult and extremely bad with lot of pits. Not recommended to go in rainy season. Midway there is a temple which provides free food (lip smacking prasadam) on weekends (this is what I think).
Not sure about the weekdays. After temple you can go up for hike till the rock climbing where the rock is very steep. Kids below 10-11 yrs are not recommended to climb. From temple there is one down Trek too which lead to the small temple of Anjaneya.
From here you need to climb 400 steps to reach Kodandarama Temple and from there a trail will lead you to the top of the hill. There are a lot of trees for shade and even at some stairs are covered with canopy. Footwear can be worn till the top.
Just an hour from electronic city you enter the beautiful silk town of Ramanagara. So we planned on visiting the Vulture Sanctuary here. Though we did not spot a single Vulture, the view and experience to climb the top of Ramanagara hill suffices for it. There are a total of about 400 steps. It's a beautiful, clean and peaceful climb, though steep at few places. The hill top offers a bird eye view of the town and a lot of fresh air to clear your thoughts.
I was super excited, when i saw the uprocky hill edges. So every1 be very careful while climbing up the edges of that huge rock with the help of a old metal rods. But after ur successful mission u will have a great feeling and a beautiful view of the region and the breeze around u.
Really cool experience - it was a nice finishing touch to my weekend road trip before hitting Bengaluru traffic. Just be prepared to take countless steps to get to the top - phew, I was able to make it without stopping. The 360 degree views at the top are a nice reward for all the stair climbing. It definitely exceeded my expectation although it was a bummer not to be able to make it to the top most hill as the guard asked us to turn around at 5 pm. It is sad to see people trashing the place with empty recycled water bottles and chips packets and spoil the experience for others.
This is the place where the most popular movies of all time has been shooted 'sholay'. We had a trip here and the place is really awesome. It can be cover in an one day trip from bangalore. Must visit place for everyone.
Great place for hang out. Not a hard trek. From starting point you have to climb around 400 stairs to reach a temple. After that you will see a route goes through the left of the temple. Take that route and you will reach the peak. The last step is difficult for the old people. The climb is almost 80 degree vertical. Small stairs and railings would make this climb possible. After reaching the peak, the view is just mesmerizing. One short note, we went on Saturday, so there are lots of devotees in the temple and they played songs using a mike which is very annoying and certainly disturbing. So better avoid this place on Saturday.
