Food is really good so is the service, but not the location as its inside a complex, no lifts have to climb two flights of steps. This place has a whole lot of antique collection displayed on the walls and in showcases.
The restaurant usually opens at 11 am. We ordered akki roti, pork curry and pork pepper fry. We liked the food and specially pork pepper fry was out of the world. I strongly suggest this restaurant.
We tried their food while on our way to Virajpet. Ordered chicken fried rice, paneer butter masala, rotis & curd. Chicken in fried rice was so hard & overcooked that it was difficult to chew. There was too much butter / oil floating on top of paneer gravy. We had the food as we didn't want to spend more time going elsewhere & ordering etc.
It was a devastating experience. We went as a family and all 4 of us had food poisoning the next morning. There were different varieties of pork dishes and each of them competed amongst themselves on how worse they could taste. We also ordered chicken Biriyani and that’s another whole level bad experience. Nobody cares about the service. There was absolutely no one in the restaurant when we went and yet these guys took so long to serve. I cannot empathise more on how bad the food and service was. Never looking back to this restaurant. If you’d love to have both vomiting and diarrhoea at the same time, wanting to rush to the hospitals, then the doors of this restaurant are open for you.
Serve some authentic Coorg cusine, you get a chance to see musium like decor.
We were dissapointed when one of our dish chicken fry was stale, which we had to replace. Bear served was charged surplus as it was told that they added auto fare to fetch it from outside.
We went in, sat for some time and left. And no one bothered to ask when we were there or when we left. That's the kind of hospitality you can expect here. Food may be good as others have pointed out but that has gone into the head of the owner.
The food is great. You get authentic Coorgi cuisine. Loved the Coorgi Pork curry and the Dragon Pork. For not so regular pork eaters, please don't try the Smoky pork curry. DON'T. Everything else, u will enjoy.
Disgusting service, no value for customers.no quality food as well bamboo biryani over hyped taste is no better at all. They don't even pay attention to you to take orders until called multiple times. Waste restaurant.
The worst service ever I saw. Man handling on customers during lockdown. They jst framing themselves as social service for poor. But they are serving for business. My colleagues and myself had a very bad experience with their behavior. They treat non local people as a terrorist.
Very bad selection. We found hair on the pork skin, when complained they just smile with out at least acknowledge and replace the item. Taste of all the food we ordered was very bland. There are much better restaurants on this stretch.
It is an authentic Coorg Cuisine Restaurant. When I first looked at their name board, I was not sure whether they are active in business. Once you enter the restaurant you see a very spacious environment. More importantly, they have the coorg artifacts in display. You can easily spend 10 - 15 minutes on them. On the day we visited, the Coorg Special items were Bamboo Shoot based, we preferred to settle with Butter Milk, Lassi, Vegetable Briyani and Egg fried rice. Butter Milk, Lassi and Veg Briyani were excellent. Service is excellent. There was ample parking space for 4 wheelers. In a world that judges by looks, I think they should have a new name board. Overall an excellent restaurant.
Yeah we ordered chicken fry, chicken biriyani, and mutton biriyani, biriyani was average but chicken was awesome, and the customer servicw was good too
Worst ever service. Never experienced this bad treatment anywhere. Staffs full of high attitude. Treat like we are there for free. Fully boring if you ask for channels for TV their answer is like there are some selected channels (8 or 9 news channels) go and watch if you want.no other channels.
Beautiful ambience having all the accessories that was used and which is still in use.coming to food, the taste satisfies the original taste of coorg.one of the finest in coorg
If you are in that part of coorg u should not miss this opportunity of visiting this place. The decor itself is very welcoming, most of the items which we tried had some kind of uniqueness in it, the ingredients which they use is available only in coorg, just to mention some, chicken pepper dry, pork, coorg style chicken.if u start ordering food u can't stop even if you are full, we had the same experience and got it packed no regrets. For dinner it tasted still better cause of marination.
Authentic kodava cousine, their akki roti and pork curry is a must try. Pork chudal and onion pakkoda are their best starters, travellers mind it.unfortunately they close by 10pm.
The yummiest most authentic coorgie food on can ever taste from this place. Food is affordable and delicious. Visiting this place when ever I go-to coorg is my first.
Good place to have Lunch or Dinner. They have variety of cuisines in veg & non- veg dishes. Serve tasty food. Service is good. A museum of Kodava ethnic implements, vessels & tools are displayed, very interesting. Overall it's a nice place, well managed.
We had a beautiful and nice experience. While entering itself the old Coorg Traditional items received us. We appreciate the interest shown by Papera management in Collecting, Arranging and Preserving such antic pieces.please proceed accordingly with out deviating. Comming to the food We had Chicken and Pork and are excellent. We wii visit next time also.with best wishes Nachappa Balladichanda.
This place has completely changed, its more line an antique store, the food was good, the chef prepared the good exactly the way we wanted, very satisfied.
The decor is very lovely. All the traditional Coorgi artifacts are so fascinating to see. When it comes to food, try only the Coorgi dishes, especially the pork dishes, which taste decent. Service is very poor, they are inattentive and uninterested.
Amazing food! This is the place you should visit for lunch or dinner if you came to coorg! They do not serve breakfast but I would love if they did. Amazing ambience, there are so many agricultural and traditional tools, equipments and utensils kept that can spend a whole day just knowing about them. I had their Bamboo Biryani, it takes 30min to cook as they cook it after you order. They cook it in Bamboo and get the same to your table. The taste isn't that great, but experience was worth it. I wouldn't recommend buying that. Please go for akki roti and pepper pork fry.
This restaurant is at the main road in Gonikoppal. It is a very famous and popular restaurant among the local coorgi families. The cuisine is 100% coorgi style and very tasty. Pork dishes is a must try. The interiors of this place is also one of the things which attracts the crowd. A good ambience which is comfortable for both family and friends gatherings.
Best place of kodava culture h can witness It contains almost all the relics and antics of the olden days. The food is also very nice, things to taste are the dragon pork and bamboo rice and other foods from a wide varieties of dishes in the menu
I ordered a Fresh Lime water, but got a Fresh lime soda. Ordered a bamboo pork biryani (thinking it would be cooked) but got raw pork pieces. The flavours of the food and the decor of the place is good but the service and the inattentive details to food make it a mere disappointment. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT WAS HYPED!
Five stars for the food! Excellent Coorg style food. Service is fast, friendly and attentive. For a small town, the ambiance of the restaurant is good. The place has a very good collection of things from bygone days of Kodagu which keeps you engaged.
If you love eating Coorgi food especially bundi curry pork, then this is the place for you. The owner is a big collector of artefacts and antique stuff from the past.
There is a lot on display that will blow your mind and keep you engaged. It has been my permanent stop every-time I visit Coorg.
