Folklore Museum

Youngsters will find it very boring. But it's a nice place. Clean and well maintained. Then don't allow photography or vediography inside. There are three different sections within this building out of which one is folklore museum. No entry tickets needed it's free to visit just enter in and out time and few details. You will have to submit your mobile phones to the incharge as it's not allowed inside the museum.

This place is not well maintained. Visiting hours between 10-5 on weekdays and saturday. It remains closed on government holidays and Sunday.

Very poor experience! Did not visit the museum. As soon as we went the lady in charge very rudely asked us to not wander! Also
We were asked to deposit our phones at entrance! There is no provision of locker also there are no sign boards at entrance that say no phones allowed. There is a sign at door saying no camera, we told the person in charge that we will switch off our phones and not use it but she wouldn’t agree! We were not even allowed to walk around in the garden. The curator Mr Nagraj insisted that it is the rule and phones and bags have to deposited or left in car! We have gone to museums all over the world and have never come across such an arbitrary rule! Phones today carry all personal data and cannot be handed to strangers anywhere!
Very very disappointed that we could not enjoy our heritage because of ridiculous red tape

Very beautiful old palace, unfortunately not very well maintained. But the museum itself is fantastic! Really good collection of fascinating exhibits. I went on a Monday afternoon and it was completely empty, which is perfect to walk around in this grand old palace.

Externally it may appear as a old palace.

It is not well maintained. But it has a significant place in Heritage of Mysore.

A must place to visit for tourists coming to Mysore (Mysuru).

Situated inside Mysore campus, wide variety of artifacts, historical cultural things, folk designs and paintings are well preserved here. This place gives us the same experience of ancient and medieval India. The stone inscriptions are also well explained here giving us deep insights.

Good for study purpose. It really gave us very good information for research. Maintenance also very good

It's got archaeology section as well as folklore section. I wish there were some tour guide. But don't miss out on this place.

A hidden gem. Exhibits need better maintainence and also explanation either by visual display cards or by a guide. Also focus on histry of Jayalaxmi vilas mansion.

Jayalakshmi vilas place. Beautiful Heritage building within University. But very badly maintained. Most of the parts damaged. Plants are growing on terrace & walls damaging the building.

It's a very historical place, the museum itself is built in the guidance of Jaya Chamarajendra wadiyar, so it's an amazing piece of architecture. Also the museum contains a lot of info which is the reason why smartphones and cameras are not allowed inside. Overall it's a beautiful museum where time can be well spent.

A very interesting place for history lovers. Lot of ancient things are present. Well maintained. Entry is free to all. Thanks to Government of Karnataka.

Situated in University of Mysore Campus, this Folklore Museum in Mysuru, Karnataka is home to one of the vast collections of folk art, products and articles. A hidden gem! The museum is set in 3 halls of the manor. Room 1 - archaeological finds from the india valley civilisation and later. Room 2- exhibits of traditional folkdance costumes, ancient puppets and toys with moving parts. Room 3- exhibits of kannada literature and personal effects of renowned authors (this section is housed in an elaborately decorated room with intricately carved woodwork, a marvel in itself. Very rudimentary labels on the exhibits however, and cellphones are handed over to the guard because photography is not allowed inside, so carry a book and pen if you want to look up things later. The grounds outside the manor (now housing the Mysore University) are also a lovely spot for a stroll, and connect to the nearby kukkarehalli lake

They have a great collection of Folk items from the region especially the yakshagaana ensembles. Its great to see them. However the museum can be upgraded with some demo, real or recorded

Got to see it just from the outside, but it looked like a palace in the middle of a jungle. Crazy place

It is situated in the beautiful Mysore University campus. It has lots of interesting things for history lovers, just wish they were marked better (which period, little background etc.) and had better lighting. Also, the curator and staff needs to be more knowledgeable.they are very disinterested in sharing information. But just to feel the palace and check out dolls, masks, yakshagana photographs and gears from another era it is an important destination in the Mysore itinerary.

ಬೃಂದಾವನ ಉದ್ಯಾನ ಭಾರತದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಉದ್ಯಾನವನ. ಇದು ಕಾವೇರಿ ನದಿಯುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜಸಾಗರ ಅಣೆಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಈ ಉದ್ಯಾನವನದ ಕೆಲಸ 1927 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು 1932 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿತು. ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಮಾರು 2 ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಈ ಉದ್ಯಾನವು ಶ್ರೀರಂಗಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ಮೈಸೂರಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುವ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ನಗರದಿಂದ ಕೇವಲ 20 ಕಿಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬೃಂದಾವನ ಹೂದೋಟವನ್ನು ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಲೇಬೇಕಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಿಂದೆ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಟೆರೇಸ್ ಗಾರ್ಡನ್ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಬೃಂದಾವನವೂ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜಸಾಗರ ಆಣೆಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಕೆಳಭಾಗದಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದು ನಾಲ್ವಡಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜ ಒಡೆಯರ್ ರಿಂದ ಅದರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು 1924 –1932ರ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸರ್ ಎಮ್ ವಿಶ್ವೇಶ್ವರಯ್ಯನವರುನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಶಾಲಿಮಾರ್ ಗಾರ್ಡನ್ ನ ಮೂಲ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಬೃಂದಾವನವೂ ಅರವತ್ತು ಎಕರೆಗಳ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಹೂ ಹಾಸಿಗೆ, ಹುಲ್ಲು ಹಾಸು, ಮರಗಳು, ಸಣ್ಣ ಕೊಳಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಲುಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಉದ್ಯಾನವನದ ಮಧ್ಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾವೇರಿಯ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯ ಸುತ್ತ ದೋಣಿ ವಿಹಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆರಳಬಹುದು. ಸಂದರ್ಶಕರು ಹೂದೋಟದ ಉತ್ತರಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಸಮೀಪ ಇರುವ ುದು.
