Gayatri Tiffin Room (GTR), a vegetarian restaurant located in the heart of Mysore, is a culinary haven for those who cherish authentic South Indian cuisine. Renowned for its delectable array of dishes, GTR has earned a reputation for serving good, yummy food that appeals to both locals and tourists alike. Almost everything on the menu, from the classic masala dosa to the fragrant filter coffee, is exceptional, making every visit a delightful experience for the taste buds.
Despite its popularity, which often leads to crowded conditions, the atmosphere remains vibrant and welcoming. The best time to visit is around 8 am, when the kitchen is bustling with fresh preparations, allowing one to start the day with delicious breakfast offerings. The only drawback is the lack of adequate parking for four-wheelers, which can be a minor inconvenience. However, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience at GTR more than compensates for this. It stands out as a must-visit destination for vegetarian food lovers in Mysore.
One of the old school places. GTR has a place in my heart always. Iconic set masale dose and filter coffee is a must try here. Place get crowded easily but it gets cleared quickly. Street parking is a downside.
Great stop for breakfast.authentic food, Mysore local folk and only those who frequent here have been visiting this place from a long time. It's one of the best tiffin rooms in Mysore
Strictly average hotel. Visited this hotel after food lovers tv video on YouTube, but a bit disappointed. They informed us while we entered the hotel that the sambar was over, but since we had come so long for this hotel, we had idli without sambar. Open butter masala is just okay. Pineapple Kesari bath is good
Nice place to have tiffin. We had ordered benne masala dose n poori n coffee. Dose was delicious. Also liked the poori saagu. Saagu was different from Bangalore hotels. Liked it there.
Should have tried open dose.we saw that after ordering our food.we were so full so couldn't order it.missed it. Will definitely try next time for sure.
Really love this place for mornin break fast.non mysorians who visit rarely should try here.being mysorian n having these restaurant with superb delicacy, the enjoyment is top level! Do try this place
You get the authentic feel when you visit this hotel. Butter masale dose and kesari bath are their specials. Butter masale dose is quite unique in its taste. Crunchier outside and softer inside. Kesari bath just melts in your mouth with plenty of ghee in it with its amazing texture and mild sweetness. End your breakfast with a nice and strong filter coffee.
Taste is good as always.but very arrogant behavior of the staff as if they are doing a favor to customers by running their business.no patience to any of the employees.mainly the younger person at the cash counter
Excellent butter Masala dosa and rava kesari. Tasty and melt in the mouth! Highly recommended. Very very economical and VFM. We took a carry out and ate in the car due to social distancing norms. In house dining was available.
Best hotel and very famous for different types of dosa & espically masala dose and plain dosa is very taste and it is also called benne masala dose.must visit for breakfast.
Had been to betta and thought we would check this place for breakfast, since I saw a review elsewhere, it's a decent place, the food is good, but if you want to eat like good good dosa, you can try other well known places, if you want just simple breakfast this place will do! And the coffee was really good.
Tasty food No parking facility Seating arrangement can be better Covid protocol not followed by visitors and not insisted by staff. They are also seen without masks.
Awesome place to have a breakfast in Mysore, is located from little outside of City. Open at 7 am, there u will get special open butter MASALA dose u should try it, it's definitely worth it, only self service was there, price are not high, Dishes were good, it's old shop in Mysore, parking is limited, the shop very neat and clean,
One of the best food joint in that area. Visit and have masala dosa, you will love it. Bonda soup, semia upma during evenings with a tea will rejuvenate your taste budds.
Super fast service, excellent restaurant. Yummy food, the butter on the masses Sosa is awesome. Dose melts in your mouth. North Indian dishes for lunch and dinner was good too. Overall a must visit place for any foodie visiting Mysuru.
Idli, masala dosa, uthappam and coconut chutney is to die for. But the ambience takes you back couple of decades but in look and comfort. Taste and quality of the food is slowly deteriorating and in contrast price is increasing. It's a self service restaurant, but seperated family dinning area get's service.
This place is a hidden gem and absolutely fabulous! Have the herbed open dosa shown in the picture. It has spinach, dill, and I believe mint inside. Best dish in India!
The one and only place to enjoy masala dosa, khara bath and idli wada dip in chutney. If u had not visited when you are in mysore then your visit to mysore is waste. Iam visiting since three decades.
The oldest hotel in Mysore, orginally started in small place, which is still there behind existing new building, when we are students, late in sixties, we are getting set masala dosa for 35 Paisa and 30 Paisa only, that type of taste is still lingering
GTR of one of the oldest hotels in Mysore that is known for its Mysore Masala dosa. It's a good place to visit for breakfast and snacks. Go early as dosas get over by 7 PM. Service is good and waiting time is around 5- 10 minutes. Ambience is OK. It's an old hotel so don't expect much.
Don't know about GTR ground floor, but the GTR delight food is bad in taste and we had a stomach upset immediately after eating lunch there today afternoon. It doesn't deserve even a single star for its yak taste.
