I have been there today. The place has lost its taste. Every time I go to mangalore I visit here but this time food was disappointing.
Post renovation look and feel has improved but important factor taste is missing.

One of the best places to have fish in Mangalore. It's a narrow street. Parking is impossible with four wheelers, have to park in the next street. Preferably two wheelers to reach would be better. Also place only functions during daytime. Food is cheaper compared to other hotels. Seating is spacious and decent. Service is fast and decent. Will leave you with a smile and a full hearted meal. Very recommended. Taste is exquisite. Mostly only seafoods except some chicken and vegetarian items.

The best place to have variety sew food for affordable rates. Menu keeps changing daily depending on the availability of sea food. The meals are very authentic Konkani types and the welcome drink is Kokum rasam (birundasaaar) enjoy the freshly cooked hot fish varieties and wash it down with a couple of Bondalime after lunch! Ananth is the man to look out for at Giri manja and Mrs Nandini the ever smiling host is always courteous and kind! Strongly recommended to visit this place even if u have to wait for 5-10 min due the rush, look at it positively the waiting time to be your appetiser! Warning- Eat light breakfast to enjoy a sumptuous lunch meal

It's a very small traditional place where one can cherish authentic mangalorean non veg meals. They serve unlimited veg and non veg meals.

GiriManja's is the crown jewel and pride of Mangalore! If you love fish this is a must visit place in Mangalore and try their squid ghee roast and muru tawa fry.

Had butter fish was very good but meal was very average not great taste overall nice for fish lover's.

My first visit to this hotel and the experience was just amazing. Busy place just churning lip smacking food. Very high in taste and value for money. Just super tasty fish, tasty basic meals, squid, prawns, silver fish, manji, anjal, bangda, butter fish, kodai, kokam etc. Closed at 3pm and no online services. Want to eat here just be there and have to early to get almost all the items or they just go out of stock for the day.

Been here twice a week here to try other fish dishes. Happy to dine out anytime here. Must visit hotel.

Fish eaters will love this place. Please go only if you eat fish of different types. Hospitality is good. Don't go for varities like other hotels. Meant for fresh fish food. Their masala is famous, hence select your favourite fish and the masala will be applied to it and fried in a different way.

Amazing food on my visit here. Anjal, Squid, Yetti, Butter fish with a meal is a must try here.

Food is good, very cheap, non veg lovers must try this, specially fish lovers. Authentic manglorian food.
Don't take your car, parking space is not proper.

Hands down the best seafood place in Mangalore! I went here for lunch on the last day of my Mangalore trip and cursed myself for not going there on the first day itself. I wouldn't have ventured to any other restaurant, but at least I got to end my trip on a high note.
The USP of Girimanja's is that every component in the fish curry thali is delectable and not just the seafood as is the case with all other seafood places. The GSB style side dishes like ghashi, upkari, song etc is to die for. This was the first place where my teenaged daughter ate the boiled rice without complaints! Even the kokum drink that's given along with the thali is so tangy and tasty.

Coming to the fish preparations, we had the prawns fry, pomfret masala fry, seer fish masala fry and silver fish rava fry and each item was fresh and finger licking good. Although the place is small, it is well maintained and clean and the service is very attentive without being intrusive. This is one place never to be missed for anyone visiting Mangalore.

The place stinks and not well maintained. Poor ambience. But food is average. Only good thing is fish fry.

Not happy by all means, we ordered for king fish, but they served some other fish. When I complained about that, they refused to accept thir fault.

Good for non veg … very congested area … better to park little away … no selection for veg. Only non vegetarian may Pl select … fish varieties…. Little bit costly…. Vegetarian can’t afford the smell … filled with smell of fish … any way for manglore it’s a variety choice

Best fish meals so far in mangalore. Highly recommended one. Fish is freshly served here. Little crowdy. But it's worth the wait.

The best traditional restaurant in mangalore for non vegetarian especially seafood lovers you must taste this meal once in your lifetime. I would highly recommend this place.

The food is good no doub but he restaurant should really work on managing the crowd. They should make waiting line/ token/ number else there is no system anyone who catches the table first is served, no matter if you have been waiting there for the last 30 min.
It's one-time to go.best is to order and takeaway home and have meal at your comfort. No pressure of other people looking at you while eating seriously!

People are very friendly and food is authentic Mangalore StyleI feel price is costly I am from Bangalore price looks almost same. Costal area to they should looks at price.

I don't have words to explain how the experience was, one of the best fish restaurant I have visited in managlore, you will get alot of varieties of Dishes and the taste is really good. If you are into fish Dishes this is a must try.

Everything about this place is delightful. All 3 fish fries I had were lovely. My favorite was the Anjal Tawa Fry. And such lovely people who serve you from heart. They want you to enjoy your meal experience. Thanks Girimanja's for such a delightful meal. I'm sure to visit Mangalore again just to have food at Girimanja's

Best for sea food lovers. Typical Konkani style preparation and home cooked taste. Must try Anjal fish fry and prawns fry. Prawns fry was very crispy and tasted more aunthetic with added crispy curry leaves. Amazing preparation.
And yes do not miss Tender coconut drink with lemon. Initially was bit skeptical to try but once tasted it was amazing. We carried few more.
Hotel is very small and old type. But worth try for food. Do not go for the ambience. Roads are very narrow. Better to travel by Auto.
Must visit at Mangalore.

Food is no doubt excellent but the management sucks…. No order or queue system. People of mangalore have no civic sense. No sense of gratitude for other waiting before them… just cut the queue. Management is just busy in billing

Best fish dishes in the town, period.
Rather non descript location, and even more dubious appearance for a restaurant (its actually a home impromptu improvised in to a eatery), but when the fish arrives, all is forgotten.
Chivalrous (and sometimes nosy) host will make you relax. Recommended prawn fries and pomfret tawa fries. 5 star yum.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Mangalore. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Absolutely the best sea food we had in Mangalore. Highly recommended!

A place which gives amazing seafood. Its a house converted to a restaurant. Surmai fry and prawns ghee roast. Do order it.

Good hotel. They serve tastey fish items. Fish ghee roast is the famous dish here. Hotel is located in interior place. Little bit difficult to locate the hotel for the first time.

Delicious food with a variety of sea food options. Surprisingly the dishes for chicken were also quite tasty. We tried Khatta Meetha chicken and all of us loved it.

Lip smacking food here, the meen saaru reminded me of the Tulu neighbours from my childhood. Try the fishes, they're too good.

One of the finest yet the best quality coastal cuisines found all at one place and yes that is this place and now it has been a all time favourite place for me one cannot just miss the anjal tawa and the prawns ghee roast green masala they also fulfill your coastal plate with variety of traditional dishes! When I saw a youtube video I was so exited and wanted to visit once. I managed to visit once with one of my friend convincing him that it is a very famous restaurant for fish lovers. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the cold food and with lot of masala. I didn't like at all. I told my friend that it looks very nice only in YouTube video and my wife cooks better than this. I just came here to try the food and I was looking for a partner to visit the restaurant.
We had ordered muri meen and prawns tawa fry. It was almost a chilly gravy. My 1st and last time there.

Fish is yum. Prawns is awesome. I tasted Crab for the first time and it didn't make me taste odd, indeed I would try carb going forward. Thanks to my hubby who's a core vegetarian who took me to this place. Waiter was also nice and he guided us well as to what we need to eat. People visiting Mangalore a must visit lunch spot.

I appreciate the service they provided. Food wise it's outstanding (5+). I love prawn tawa fry. It was yummy. I was bored with fish fry. Still I felt better taste compared to other places. If you have plan to visit, please go early ~12: 15 should be fine. Else you may have to wait. They do have parking space, but not huge. Most important, washroom is quite clean. It's A Small Little Old Traditional Structure Converted Into A Small Hotel Which Is A Charm By Itself.

The Service Was Excellent. The Steward Explained Everything Twice As We Were Not Able To Understand The Menu & Helped Us To Decide What We Wanted To Order.

Each And Everything That We Ordered Was Top Class.
King Fish, Prawns Deep Fried, Squid Ghee Roast & Bonda Lime (Lime & Tender Coconut Juice) Was Out Of This World.

One of the best seafood in Mangalore, in personally prefer the surmai fry and any prawn dish. Deep fried mini sardines are unique

Perhaps an over rated place. I would rate Hotel Narayana much better with a very focused menu. The choice of seafood other than fish is the main attraction.

Excellent sea food, try anjal or promfret whenever u r there, top it with golden fried prawns. And then have the bonda lime. Wow superb.

One of the best restaurant you can ever find in mangalore. Specialist for sea food varieties.clean and clear service. Never think for an option other than this. U can go with family.friends. Colleague's.

I think this place is overrated. It might have been a great place once upon a time but I should say the food is just average (if not worse than average). I ordered prawns ghee roast after looking at the rave reviews here (guys?) but ended up getting a piddly dish that was probably reheated.

What Giriimanjas has going for it is the price. Quite cheap. So if you are looking for cheap, less that average quality food, go for it. But don't make elaborate plans to go there for an 'experience', cause you will be let down.

Have been visiting this place every time I am in mangalore. However, in the recent times the quality of the food has been reducing. The fish specialities in general. We ordered the squid fry n it had an over powering oily smell to it.

Its an old house converted into a diner. Definitely not your typical fancy restaurant. Its also very crowded if you were to visit in the afternoon. Quite cramped and a hot place contributing to the already hot and humid weather of Mangalore.

However, being said all that, the food here is heavenly. Lot of variety of fish to choose from and the way of preparation. Squids and prawns are also their speciality. I'd rate it the best typical Mangalorean meals one can get in the entire district.

Definitely a must try if you are an outsider.

Girimanja's is the go-to place for a simple fish meal and a variety of fish and seafood items. Their fish thali is the best in town with unlimited rice and yummilicious fish curry. Anjal masala fry, silver fish rava fry and prawns golden fry are delicious!

We had Fish curry rice, prawns fry, chicken lollipop, kalamari fry, silver fish fry. Everything was so amazing! It's a small set up but taste is worth a visit! We visit every time we are in Mangalore! Love this place!
