Had a nice stay. Food and hospitality was good. The owner addressed all our requests. Recommend for backpackers.

Lovely place, Great location, its large area where u can play anything, comfortable rooms, amazing view point. The owner is very friendly and guided us really well. Superb homely food.enjoyed a lot, one of the best homestay I have ever seen.

Always an avid customer to this place, this would be my third time visiting the place. Love the view, swimming pool, and the service. Go for it if you need a much needed vacation. Prasanna uncle’s hospitality is amazing, he makes you feel at home.

What a beautiful property this is. Truly in the midst of nature. The rooms are great with a stunning view. The food served in the top quality. Such hospitality from every staff. I am surely going to go back.

The host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The accommodations were comfortable and clean, and the overall experience was fantastic.

Avoid this homestay like a plague.

Food - repetitive, hard to chew and very bland food. Not at all what you expect food in Chikmagluru area.

Host Behaviour - Really bad. Once I complained of foul smell in the room, the host says that people like Sudha Murthy comes and they don't have any problem. Only middle class guys do complain of the issues and are not able to adjust. When I asked for hand wash in the bathroom, the host says that we generally don't give that. Are we suppose to bring with us?

View - It is nice.

Hospitality is good, Nice place to watch sunrise. Outdoor games, swimming pool facilities available.

Wonderful place on top of the hill with a mesmerizing views. The place is managed by a humble and down to earth family. The food is also nice.

We were a team of 14 and stayed at this memorable place for 2 nights in mid-March. The place is well suited for both families, friends gathering or a team outing with its serene ambience, good view points and pleasant atmosphere.

We had a great time with our team and the caretakers (esp. Ravi) was of great service. He was very obliging and courteous during our stay. The driver (Prathap – I guess) who took us to the view points and Rani-Jheri falls was well accommodating and friendly.
Talk about the hosts (Mr. Prasanna & Nalina Prasanna) were warm & wonderful hosts. One of us had requested for a traditional food (Pindi) and they simply obliged our request. The campfire is good to keep us warm. We are grateful for their service throughout our stay.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay away from the hustle bustle of city life (though network coverage is good) and most importantly a memorable one!

Prasanna, the host, provided excellent service. Exploring and being in nature are worthwhile investments. I'd advise going to spend some time in the natural environment.

Really a nice place. Beautiful and engorging place. Pple who have commented badly and rudely. They are just uncultured pple. Might be a guest. But shd follow the rules and regulations of the resort. And understand the feelings of the other guests who have come to have peace of mind. And for relaxation. Whos this chandu s. ‍️‍️‍️. Doesnt hv nothing in his head. Abt the behaviour and culture. Might be from. Rural catastrophic place. Thats why he was behaving like that.

We had a very pleasant experience here. Food is very good. Pool is maintained well. Location is just awesome. Infact, a drive to the homestay from the main road itself is exciting amidst lush green atmosphere. Owner Prasanna is a very humble, amiable person. When we stayed there, he could manage in a professional manner, few youngsters who went on merrying upto almost 2am. I do recommend GIRISIRI homestay. I wish to come back again with family

Great experience at Girisiri, most beautifully located for those sunrise lovers. Easily accessible to reach the base point of Ballalarayana durga trek. Clean rooms, homely food (highlight of this place). This homestay can easily accommodate large groups.

We had a great experience in the weekend.

Visited in the month of June. The homestay has an awesome view point. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and maintained. Felt like a dorm or zostel. It had a balcony. The swimming pool was well maintained, had crystal clear water, the amount of chlorine was a little higher than the normal level I guess (cause the eyes started to burn after a dip) I'm not sure. The food was tasty, staff were friendly and polite. The ride to the view point and waterfalls was nice. The stay was worth the budget.

This place is really worth to visit for following reasons
-Mind-blowing view of Mountains, Valley. -Close to nature. Green environment.
-Tasty home cooked and Hygienic food. Please note that the food is cooked in local (Malnad) style. Don't expect lavish buffet.
-Decent room with clean Bathroom.
-Ample car parking space.
-Very polite and friendly host (Mr. Prasanna and his wife) and staff.
-Reasonable charges. Value for money.
-Don't miss the 4x4 Jeep ride to Rani jhari and Kodige falls.

Stayed here for a day on a weekend, the property is in a good location with a clear view of backside of Rhani jhari, rooms were clean and food was good, they provide campfire at night if it doesn't rain, hosts were helpful and will also arrange for transport incase you plan to visit rani jhari / bandajje trek.

Affordable, and if you are going in group of 5-8 (bachelors/ young) they provide travel service at reasonable price, view from the pool area is soothing, food is proper Karnataka taste, extra sides with drinks is affordable too, (near to Ballalarayana Durga trekking point)

Very bad experience.we already reserved room and at last moment they give room to other guest.and food quality is very bad like everything is water added food.even they dont know what is hospitality.plz dont take chances -5 star to their behave and 0 for their professionalism.

Mr Prasana the owner of the homestay was very good with us.
Food quality is good.
They took us to the viewpoint and water falls.
Campfire was unlimited.
We actually enjoyed staying at the homestay.

Kindly note this, you shouldn’t expect lavish kind of accommodation for the amount you’re paying it.
Mr Prasana gave us a decent pricetag for 3 nights stay for four members including food.

I don't understand why people give 4-5 stars to this homestay.
We booked this homestay for 2 days. We booked the bamboo cottage, but when we reached there at 9 pm they told us bamboo cottage is not available (we called the owner around 3-4 times before reaching to homestay still didn't inform the same at that time). Due to the unavailability of the cottage we asked to reduce the price that they denied, both mother and son are very arrogant.
The behaviour of both of them are very rude,
After that they provide food which is extremely bad, food is like made only with water, last we asked for curd and they gave us curd adding water into it.
After that, we got the room,
Here the most horrific experience starts
1) Room is full of spiders and bugs and it's very very dirty (they are giving lame excuses like this will happen due to the jungle)
2) Room is dirty like they didn't even clean for years.
3) Room don't have handwash in it.
4) Bathroom is dirtiest and full of bugs.
5) bedsheet is dirty.
6) Rooms don't have water in them. (You have to go to the dining area to fill your bottles, yes you have to carry your own bottle)
I suggest this homestay should get banned.
Adding one more point we didn't ask for a free stay. We asked for compensation.
These guys don't know the meaning of hospitality. Looting people.

You get a lot of Homestay. But Girisiri has a beautiful view.
The Sunrise from here is just a blissful watch.

The Manager was very good and kind. Stay is also good but the vegetarian food is average. The offroad trail was crazy. Good place to spend vacation.

The stay was peaceful and the view was awesome. Good food, accomodation and great hospitality provided by the owner.

It's a great place to stay if you are not looking for luxury. The owner and his family are down to earth people. The best part about the stay is they take you to a nearby seculeded water falls. Nothing to beat the clean fresh air and simple home cooked food.

We stayed there for 2 nights and no regret, indeed one of the best homestays in Chikmagalur. Things we enjoyed.
1) Forest ride in the pickup truck. (They'll take you to Trekking, Waterfalls, Sun set view. All three will take a day, booking for 2 nights is optimial).
2) Swimming pool (anytime we were not sleeping and eating, we were in the pool, the most important thing to look for when choosing a place).
3) Food. (Super worthy for what you pay, it was like a buffet, to be honest, especially non-veg was great)
4) Location - In the middle of a jungle, don't mistake it for a crowdy place (the photos kind of give a wrong opinion).
5) Cottage - Just about enough for you pay for, clean and tidy. (Again don't misjudge from the looks of it in photos, they've really renovated after).

We were 10 people, and overall it was a steal deal.

Nature is best from this homestay. Food was so delicious. The activities which were led by PRASANNA SIR (owner) were amazing. Totally this trip was heaven.

First of all, the location of homestay was good,
And the owners of the homestay received well and we're very helpful in preparing itinerary of the trip and arranging things properly making trip memorable.

The view from the homestay is amazing. Services provided were good. Rooms were comfortable and food served was so tasty. We enjoyed all the activities. Overall a perfect weekend trip to girisiri homestay.

We enjoyed all the activities like trekking, falls visit, sunset point. Sunrise view from homestay was awesome and it was a perfect start of the day for us. Food taste was soo good. Enjoyed the pool time with good view in the evening. Overall a perfect weekend gateway.

The only reason I am taking pains to write in detail is because I genuinely do not want anybody else to have a bitter experience at the hands of this homestay's owner Mr Prasanna with his unpredictable arrogant behaviour and fixed mindset the way we did.
I booked for two nights stay. When we arrived late in the evening two things disappointed us. One was the room which was very basic (that was still ok) but had only one functional plug point. When you sit in the balcony you can see and hear the estate labourers who are dwelling below our room in the same complex. Second thing was the dining area which was literally above the parking complex on the first floor and had hardly any ambience what so ever, the stairs had no railing and we felt we were having our food in a Mall’s parking lot. We made two requests: to have dinner in room since we were tired and didn’t want to climb above the parking complex and second to shift our room to a bamboo hut across our rooms which had much much better view. Both was shot down instantly by his son although they served us snacks and beer in the room. The view from the first floor of parking lot where we dined was great in the morning though!
However the next day morning we happened to meet Mr Prasanna for first time and he told it was just not an issue to shift us to the bamboo huts. We shifted by Noon.
In the evening when we stepped out of our room we saw they had already arranged a bonfire (log pieces in an iron basket kind off setup but not lit). We felt the place was congested where they had put it up. Also with plants all around in close proximity it would have burnt them. So we requested for a more open space which the boy agreed. We even offered him assistance to shift the logs and the contraption since we didn’t want to bother the homestay guys. But he told it was fine.
The misconduct by Mr Prasanna happened from this moment onwards. Contrary to his name he started shouting and yelling at us saying that we were very unreasonable and worst occupants he had ever encountered. “No body tells to shift room, Nobody tells to shift Bonfire location”, was what he was shouting and all this by pointing his finger at us with very aggressive body language. We were taken aback since we never thought such a simple request would invite such a wrath. We felt very insulted and told him to leave the bonfire alone. He continued yelling that you are authorized one bonfire only even if you stay for 2 nights (previous night we didn’t have a bonfire) which reminded me of my accounts clerk! Hearing his violent screams his wife came out and was seen trying to calm him down. She even told him to be nice with the guests but to no avail! He was unstoppable!
He thoroughly spoilt our pleasant evening. The next morning Mr Prasanna greeted us with a smile as if nothing had happened last night. I told him that we didn’t expect this kind of a behavior from him and that he should be more courteous. He again got into his aggressive mode and told he has been running this place for ten years now and he has seen many people like us! He then lifted his right hand in a F**k Off kind of a gesture and went inside his house. But his entire demeaner changed dramatically into a soft-spoken guy while we were having breakfast and were ready to leave. He even filled our bottles with drinking water. Strange! But once we made the payment he didn’t bother to wait and see us off. It was done by his son. We felt completely uninvited at this place. May be since he owned such a big estate this homestay was just not a priority …. Leave aside the guests who visit! We requested to meet the lady of the house and waited for her to come out. We thanked her for the food and left!
Verdict: Nice location but don't get carried away by views and reviews. The conduct of the owner is totally unpredictable and he has a tendency to get very aggressive if we request something which he doesn’t approve off. Beware- Do not get carried away by their website There are plethora of other options close by!

Dilapidated with Good View

Yes. It was a breathtaking drive untill we reached the place. Excited to settle down and enjoy the weekend relaxing. We walked around the property, wonderful view of mountains. The very next moment was disappointing when we checked-in to our rooms. Absolutely unattended rooms. We also had a surprise guest in the room when we woke up (see attached image)
- Mucky beds and bedspreads.
- Unpalatable food
- Every step you are monitored
- Too many restrictions
- Too much crowd occupied within limited space
- Limited menu and snacks with tea/coffee that was not great.

To summarise it was stressful stay.
Lastly, I wonder how they have good reviews, be cautious!

It was a amazing weekend vacation at Giri Siri with friends. Affordable and Economical stay with unconditional love surrounded by nature. Awsome view, decent Malad style home cooked food. Best part of trip was local sightseeing in their vehicle just a lovely experience.

Superb place. Mr. Prasanna and Nalinakshi mam are soo nice.never say no to anything.i hv seen couple of negtv reviews regarding room service n all.plz understand this is on hill top.for each and everything they hv to travel long to get things.this is in the middle of beautiful nature and you can't expect luxury like room service wifi kind of stuff.go there and redeem urself. ️

A decent place to visit. The rooms need a bit if renovation. The staff were all courteous. The food served was ok Ok'ish

You will get to see sunset and sunrise in the homestay itself.

They will take you to the nearest waterfall and viewpoints and bonfire at the evening with snacks what else you ask.

Food could be improved a lot better with good taste and more of Malnad cuisine varieties. As I felt food quality and taste have been reduced from my last visit two year back. Ambience could be improved good.

Very good place to stay, with good malnad food, staff were very good, waterfall does not require much of trekking, sunset point can be trekked or can be viewed from where one is dropped off by the jeep

Food could be a whole lot better. Stay is so-so - dirty beds / linen. However activities were good and good for toughing it out.
