Good park and great place to view the reservoir and the dam. Excellent place to take a walk and it has a nominal entrance fee. We have plenty of car parking outside the entrance.
Harangi Reservoir and its surrounding garden offer a delightful retreat for nature lovers. The vast expanse of water against a backdrop of lush greenery creates a picturesque scene. The well-maintained garden around the reservoir adds to the charm, providing a peaceful setting for visitors to unwind. The walking paths and seating areas offer an opportunity to soak in the tranquility while enjoying the scenic views. However, occasional crowds may diminish the serene atmosphere. Overall, Harangi Reservoir and its adjacent garden stand as an inviting destination, combining natural beauty with a sense of calm.
Great experience visiting this reservoir. The garden was really beautiful and there is a lot of area to walk. The little canals make it more beautiful. The view of the dam from bottom is very nice.
Only issue is that you cant enter the top of the dam like you can in some places. All you can do is enjoy the view from the bottom.
There is a light water show at 7 pm at the fountain. It require special ticket. The show was okay. Dont expect something like at the brindacan gardens at mysore. The music was low quality. But okay to watch.
There is an entry fee of 25 and parking of car is 25. You can get an unobstructed view of the dam from the park. The dam gates are out of reach from the park.
It's basically a dam where the water stops or restricts the flow of surface water or underground streams. Reservoirs created by dams not only suppress floods but also provide water for activities such as irrigation, human consumption, industrial use, aquaculture, and navigability. Basically, you'll get to see the light show in the evening and spend time in the garden during the day.
It's a beautiful view, i wish there was bit of water flowing, it's near to elephant camp so it will worth travel. If u plan on coming to Mangalore from mysore or madikeri, take route to harangi then to bisle then to Mangalore it's will be a very worth trip.
Stopped here enroute to stay. The place is good for a walk and a one time visit. There is an entry fee of Rs 25 and parking of Rs 25.
The dam was closed. There was a small park for kids to play. The lighting was good. It is open until 7 pm in the night.
Had the government maintained the place well, it is definitely a good place for a picnic and to stop over with family. The kids park had swings, slides and plenty of stuff to play. The fountain was off.
Nice picnic spot and photo clicking place. Garden is wonderful. Entry fee rs 10 and parking is 25 Unfortunately we couldn't see the dam opening. It was okay okay to be there
Stopped for while when on the way to Coorg. Couldn’t get near the dam but it was looking beautiful from the long shot. Wished to see it flowing to full but alas it wasn’t though. Visited during summer and maybe that was the result of it. Will visit again.
Average place. The cops there informed me that there is no entry for solo traveller's, only family entry. Parking fee of Rs. 15/- is to be paid here. Entry was allowed, after taking my driver's license.
Very nice tourist spot in kodagu. Near to Kushalnagar. Roughly 8 KMs. There are two routes to this, one Kushalnagar Mulusoge and another one via Guddehosur. Can spend time happily with children and friends. Road side sellers sells some eatables.good number of autos, taxi hotels lodges homestay available in Kushalnagar town and surrounding Other nearest tourist places are Nisargadama. Dubare, Golden temple.
Pretty nice place, huge garden. We were waiting for the water to be released but unfortunately we didn't get it. The garden and surrounding is nice. A minimal entry fee and parking facility with some local street vendors around. Apparently there is a light and music show at 7pm on certain days
The Harangi Reservoir is situated near Hudgur village in the Somwarpet taluk of the Kodagu district of Karnataka, India. A masonry dam was constructed across the Harangi River, a tributary of the Kaveri, to create the reservoir. The dam is about 9 kilometres from the centre of Kushalnagar. The Harangi originates in the Western Ghats' Pushpagiri Hills in Kodagu, Karnataka. The Harangi river's catchment area, which is around 717 km2, receives heavy rainfall from the south-west monsoon. The Harangi is 50 kilometres long from its source to its confluence with the Kaveri river. In the Somwarpet taluk, the Harangi joins the Kaveri near Kudige.
For Visit Monsoon season recomended. Harangi horticulture garden is another name for this location. This location, as the name implies, has a large and beautifully landscaped garden and is a great place to spend some quality time with your family or significant other. The reservoir has created an adjacent lake. Tourists used to be able to ascend to the top of the reservoir, but due to incidents in the past, this is no longer possible. Entry fee is 10 rs and for camera they will charge additional 50 rs, you can carry your mobiles free of cost.
You can totally avoid visiting here after January till the monsoon. No much water and will be disappointed to see the dam gates closed. They charge you for the entry and even for the parking done on the roads, outside the gate. You cannot climb up the dam. Garden is nicely maintained, but otherwise nothing much to see. Avoid going here during afternoons as there is too much is heat and brightness which will strain your eyes. You can spend not more than 10-15 mins here.
This place is also called Harangi horticulture garden. As the name suggests, this place has a huge and beautifully landsaped garden and is an ideal place to spend some peaceful time with your family or better half. There is an adjacent lake formed by the reservoir. Earlier, toursists were allowed to climb to the top of the reservoir but now it has been restricted owing to the accidents in the past. Entry fee is 10 rs pax and for camera they will charge additional 50 rs, you can carry your mobiles free of cost though.
Clean and beautiful place. I went in the month of December and they don't allow me to go to dam. You can't climb up the dam. But still a nice place for clicking pics. Entry was free for us. Lots of greenery there.

This is a great time to visit in the rainy season. Especially if the four gates of the dam are opened, there is a feast to the eye. But at the most of time the dam gates are closed. The park and surrounding areas are clean.it has a parking place.
Harangi reservoir, right time to visit would be during monsoon time.

It's a small dam.most of the times the gate is closed.this is closest you can view. There is other end for back waters as well. Up front you have a garden. This isn't the best dam to visit but if you are in kodagu visit it for sure, it hardly takes much time to see it.
It's better during rainy season. But now they have a maintained very well and clean. The surroundings and the park has been maintained very well with neat and clear maintenance. The street food outside the reservoir is spicy and yummy.

Full of water right now and 2 of the gates are opened. We can go very close to the gates which gives a wonderful experience. They have closed and opened random hates around the garden which creates confusion and sometimes you have to walk more. It will be nice if they can keep some notes/directions. There are few stalls outside but not too many good options to eat. Also randomly they have closed stairs to go up the dam which could be a great experience too especially when the dam is full. Overall a must visit in rainy season.
