This temple was dedicated to Lord Rama and it was the study centre for Royal Family children during the Vijayanagara period.

The temple depicts the whole episode of Ramayana and Mahabharata from left to right and from bottom to top on the walls.

The mandapa walls illustrate 108 scenes from the Ramayana. These proceed in a clockwise direction around the walls of the square mandapa. They begin with Valmiki telling the story to a seated King, and the fire sacrifice of Dasharatha (father of Rama).

Truly a magnificent place! It is beyond amazing to see all the structures and carvings all over this large complex. I am in awe seeing all the details and the story of the Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita among others. This is a unique place that I am happy to explore again!

It's one of the beautiful sculpture in Hampi. Excellent carving work needs a huge honour for their greatest effort for creating unbelievable monument. Can't express in words, Please enjoy watching inch by inch.

It has a nice vibe.the place has good architect and lots of story to support its pillars, literally.carving on pillars depicts different story, each pillar has a own story to tell.you simply cannot ignore the carving and the story behind it.

Its a beautiful temple devoted to Lord Rama. On the walls of the temple stories from Rama's life and other mythological figures are depicted. Some of the carvings on black stones are very fine.

Beautiful place we just feel that old days and life's of people. One of the heritage places in India. Really worth visiting this place you just feel like went to past old days of the Kings and how they lived. Very nice place but carry food or snacks so that u can enjoy all the time with out wasting time. All temples are very far. It takes lot of time so don't forget to bargain with auto or if u have ur own vehicle then it's really comfortable. And its the one the must see place in this area and they are many ruined places all tell about history and the great fights between Kings and its really very nice place to see u have to go by auto or by ur own vehicle because all this places are far u cannot walk all this places and also very few places the all refreshments are available like cool drinks and water and snacks so btr if u carry ur food to be active and to complete a happy journey

My favorite temple in all of Hampi! Truly unique in the way it depicts art. The temple is famous because on the walls of the temple 108 panels of relief sculptures narrate the story of Ramayana. The panels are arranged like a cartoon strip of three rows, one has to go clockwise thrice to read the entire story. On the outer compound walls we have depiction of Mahanavami celebrations. This temple served as the royal chapel.

The Hazara Rama temple is one of its kind. The temple even though defunct; has the walls covered with intricate sculptures. The whole Indian epic of Ramayana has been depicted on the walls. It is said that the total number of Rama sculptures in this temple is around Thousand. The Hindi word for thousand is "Hazaar" and hence the name Hazara Rama temple.

Hazara rama temple is in a good condition but statue is not available inside temple, all over ramayana story is on wall of temples u can see carvings, marble pillars are may be imported from warangal that time, guide told me this temple was made within 6 years

Hazara Rama temple is one of the most elegant temples in Hampi. Its construction was started in the year 1513 A. D, under the orders of Krishnadevaraya and was completed before the end of his reign.
It's location nearby royal enclosure proves that it is a royal chapel or a private temple for the use of the royalty.

Temple architecture is magnificent and mesmerizing. Even in hot climate, it feels so cool inside. Each wall is depicting stories related to Ramayana like Ram -Sita Marriage, their banishment to forest (Vanvas) and fight with Ravana. Many other stories are there and each wall and pillers are covered with them.

Hazaara Raama temple in the Royal area of Hampi is beautiful testimony of Vijayanagara architecture. The carvings on the stones carries the viewers to the ancient world where they lose their existence.
The temple complex is full of story telling carvings about various stories of Ramayana. The outer wall is also beautifully carved with day-to-day life of Vijayanagara era.
One can notice wide variety of activities that are carved on stones to gauge the life during those days.

Beautiful structure and well maintained. The specialty of this temple is that the Ramaraksha is carved into the walls in the ancient script from which kannada was later derived. The inside of the temple is similar to all the other temples in the south but the atmosphere there is very calm.

But, as on date, there is no deity and no Puja. Entire Ramayana was carved in and around the temple. What I observed is, auto drivers and guides are trying to skip this temple. But, don't miss this. Insist them to show this temple also.

You can park your car near the virupaksha temple and walk around to cover the area.

There are a lot of ruins and tourist spots near by like Monolithic Ganesha, monolithic Nandi etc.

Would recommend carrying loads of water as you only get local make water bottles in the area and you will be walking a lot.
You also have an option of going for potable coconut water stalls, located down the hill.

This temple of Rama is popularly called Hazara Rama Temple because of the many Ramayana panels on the walls.
Enclosed walls are carved on the outside as well as inside.
Outer panels depict horses, elephants, dancing girls, infantry in procession.
Inner panels show incidents from the Ramayana, like Dasaratha performing a sacrifice to beget sons, birth of Rama, his exile into the forest, abduction of Sita, fight between Rama & Ravana are all carved

As it is situated in the royal enclosure of the Hampi city, it was probably the king's private shrine.

The walls of this temple depicts the whole story of Ramayana in sculptures. Ancient temple and best views can be noticed.
