Car parking available.
Average time that can be spent here - 2-3 hours, depending on your interests.
3 floors exhibits plus a gift shop & cafeteria. Certain art & craft/music classes are also being held for kids & adults

The museum experience was overwhelming. Easily one of the best kept secrets of Bangalore. Weekend tickets are slightly more than the weekday ones. A must-visit for everybody.

Very beautiful place n very informative. Spent 2 hrs there because of lack of time. Otherwise easily u can spend 4-5 hrs. Suitable for kids above 8 I think.as younger kids will not be able to appreciate different types of music n music related information. Very unique n one of its kind in Bangalore.

Truly a paradise for music lovers! It was a mystical experience indeed! Love it to bits one of the best places to visit! Worth every dime

One of the most sophisticated museum experiences in India. The video wall installation at the beginning looked very similar to the one I saw in Eiffel tower.indian music is layered, varied and filled with stars. The museum is similar.

Tip for new visitors: it will take atleast three hours to go through all the installations with some level of understanding them. So go as early as you can and stay as long as you can. The canteen in the museum is a good place to have a snack.

If you're planning a trip to Bangalore and aren't sure what to do, here are some suggestions.
Visit this magnificent museum, which has a completely worldwide level and is well designed.
It caters to a wide range of interests.
Even if you have no prior understanding of the Indian music scene, you will leave feeling fairly enriched.
Although there is a slight leaning towards South Indian cuisine, probably due to the location, it is an interesting experience altogether.

This is a wonderfully and thoughtfully crafted museum that's an audio-visio-sensuo-spiritual treat to the discerning. Made to international standards, the collection, arrangement and style surpass the expectations of any visitor. I had visited 2 years ago. So I'm unsure how well it's maintained now.

A fabulous place to showcase the evolution of music in our lives. A great work done to collect and present all the information regarding the music, cinema, Indian songs, film industry, music instruments, storytelling traditions, interesting facts and what not. Headphones are also available to listen the stories and the history.

One of the best places to visit in Bangalore. The place takes you through the history of Indian music in a well thought out and entertaining way. The place is designed spectacularly and the little elements where you get to interact with the music is just superb. You get to learn a lot about music just by spending an hour here.

I visited this place with my family on a weekend and truly was pleasantly surprised. My parents are music lovers and a walk through this museum kept us engrossed. Personally for me it was really cool to understand how has Indian music evolved. I was so surprised to know that harmonium is not from India. We then did spend an hour chit chatting at the cafe as some food items from there made us reminiscence the food from Bengal. One word of caution, you surely can not cover this museum in an hour. Keep atleast 3hrs in hand to do justice. I am definitely going back to experience it again!

This is a must visit for people who love music.
The IME is a massive space, with multiple sections like the Sound Garden, etc.

A lot of the exhibits there are interactive and you can easily spend 2 hours there.

IME is a place to experience music, how sounds were derived from nature, evolution of devices from wax cylinders to gramophones, CDs to DVDs. The revolution of taking place with different Genres of music. This place is interactive, suggest to carry your personal ear plugs to listen to video/audio clips. Spend some time knowing the displayed instrument names/how they sound/location of instrument originated. You can have few good hours, wet your hands and rub the singing stones, strike those lithophones planted outside make your own rhythm. Have a quality time experiencing music and resonance. They also have a small shopping place and an open cafe to end up the day.
It can welcome more people if they add more unique n rare instruments. Publicity is needed to make this place place known to all.

Good place to experience the history and evolution of Indian music - Hindustani, Carnatic etc. The show on history of Indian Cinema music was very informative
Place is neatly maintained and organized. Good collection of traditional Indian music instruments. The signing stone (played with wet hands), percussion xylophones made of various metal, stone, wood etc with mallets were all interesting stuff.

What a hidden gem in Bangalore. Heard about this place from a family member and decided to check it out with our toddler (15 months). A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon/evening. The IME is so well kept, classy, amazing decor and a wealth of info. Truly blown away by the effort put in to capture India's history with music. The flow of the musuem keeps you captivated throughout.
I also want to give a shoutout to the staff at the IME. So friendly, patient, and made the entire experience even better.
Finish off the tour with a coffee/chai at the cafeteria. Highly recommended.

One of the best places to be in blore, you could even spend a whole day here if you're inclined to music. It's more about the various music forms that stemmed from the cultural influences all around the country. The art of storytelling that has evolved through various art forms viz. Singing, dance, puppet etc have been displayed too. Must really appreciate the effort taken to set this place up. Don't forget to make the artist play the humming stones at the entrance.

Great place for music lovers. You can easily spend couple of hours here, but if you are truly into music, plan for an entire day. There are 3 floors in total, and it starts from the the 3rd and descends from there. The entry fee is 250 per person and they follow COVID-19 precautions very well.
Also, the place is exceptionally well maintained, truly commendable job by them! Parking is not an issue, either you can park in their parking or there's a small parking space across the road (though it's for something else, but you can park there, no worries)
There's a souvenir shop, but doesn't sell anything related to music, so that was a bummer. There's also a small cafeteria.
Overall it was a great experience and I'd strongly suggest that you visit this once!

Being the first interactive music museum in India, I would recommend everyone to visit this place. Especially music enthusiasts must visit this place, it has nearly 250 exhibits. A peaceful place to spend a day. There is also cafeteria and store inside the site, perfect to spend with family or friends.
