Iruppu Hiking Area

Very good place to have a leisure visit. The maintenance of the walkway and protective railings are not being carried out properly. Be careful while going with children and elderly people. It may be quite a long walk for elderly people but due to the shade of the woods and calm and cool environment it will not be so tiring. Be very much careful while stepping on the rocks as they are very slippery.

Great and safe place for water rafting. Good for beginners who want to try it for the first time. Also, you can bring along your adult family members of all age as long as they are fit.

U have to walk a long way inside the forest, so in case elderly person is there in troop think once before u take them, and while u walk to reach the falls don't forget to explore on the sides where u can get awesome scenary

Wonderful place to visit during the times of July to September. A pleasant walk for 1km to reach the falls. Certainly a place to have fun with family or friends. No place for dress change near the falls. You'll have to walk back to the parking area.

Nice place where you can climb (not much) and sit near the waterfall.
Not very clean. Waste thrown in the water. There are leeches so you must be careful.
There is sufficient parking and there are small shops with food.

The temple here is the reason behind the name Iruppu.
The temple is Iruppu Shri Rameshwara Temple.
Also the beautiful concrete road for the walk between the woods makes journey easy.
The temple is now under renovation and getting beautiful day by day.

The only attraction here is the waterfalls. Even the waterfalls are not that huge, so it is dispointing to walk a long distance to see them. The area is maintained but entry charges are a bit high. People bathe in the falls which is extremely annoying. If u are traveling with small kids or elderly, then best would be to skip this place from your itinerary.

Do You know this! IRPU falls has historical background of Ramayana, It was created by lord lakshmana hence the river has named Lakshmana Teertha. It is one of the highest grossing tourist spot of Karnataka Forest Department in kodagu after Nagaraholle. Entry fees has now hiked to 50 rs per person and its worth a penny. Incredible Western Ghat is visiual treat and Waterfall Force can get you a free body massage.

Unlike the name suggests, there isn't much hiking to do. Waterfall is the main attraction. The water here is really really cold and fresh. There's a bridge that is on the way to this waterfall which is a great place for photography. Overall it's a great place for friends and family. You can easily spend a minimum of 3 hours here.
Apart from this, the food which is just outside the gate, is very expensing and is north worth your money.

A small trek (half kilometer) will take one from the parking lot to the falls. This trek is a bigger and better experience than the falls itself. One can listen to the continuously running water during the entire trek. During monsoon and during heavy rains the sweet sound of water increases that you got to shout for your companion to hear.

The trek turns from beautiful to awesome from the iron hanging bridge to the waterfall. Since one is walking in midst of a reserve forest, the experience is multiplied. It further adds to the beauty when it rains.

The trek comprises of small inclines and some 160 steps.
