One can know about the different cultures and tribal types available in Karnataka (including the migrated culture). They have some historical and cultural collections from around KN. Kids will surely love this place. Some crafts and toys shops are present at this location which you can try. The location has facility for parking and also washrooms as you enter. Entry for adult is 100 rupees when I'm writing this review.
If you are travelling between Bangalore and Mysore then I would suggest go by Channapatna route as there a few good places that you can visit, like this one and also Aprameya Krishna temple, Malur lake near the temple and also Sri Kengal Anjaneya Swamy. This location also has a small forest trial and it is good. Kamat hotel is just adjacent to this as you can stop by with your family to enjoy the ambience.
It is an amazing experience in janapada loka and I like the most please everyone visit to know about Karnataka and culture Way of living in 19 century and before that Thank you
The place was good for a one day trip from Bengaluru. Your can easily find the place from the highway. They take 100 rs for ticket. I found the sculptures really astonishing. They look so real that you will really be amazed. Must see the dog sculptures. There was a washroom and drinking water facility available. Adding so many photos and videos.
The cultural centre was informative and could connect how people in the past lived.different folk arts of Karnataka were depicted. The statues are so real.
It's the worst place. My suggestion is don't go to visit this place. Nothing is there to visit and they are charging 100 rs per person. Waste of time and money.
Janapada Loka is separated into various wings, including the Folk Arts Museum, Loka Mahal, Chitra Kuteera, Doddamane, Shilamala, and Arghyamala. The museum has 5,000 folk artifacts in its collection. This lovely location is roughly 50 kilometers from Bengaluru. If you're searching for a new kind of relaxation for a unique weekend, this is the place to be. It's directly near to an incredible restaurant called Kamat Lokaruchi. The stunning scenery and vistas along the new Bengaluru Mysore Expressway are not to be missed. Loka Mahal, a museum wing, houses a collection of 5,000 folk objects.
An exclusive folk museum showcasing Karnataka's village traditional arts. There are numerous artifacts to examine. A big area to cover and wonderfully created part by section at each stage. It has a village feel to it, with plenty of green cover overhead. The entire area is divided into numerous segments, each with its own flair. Folk culture, musical instruments, agriculture, and farming are all represented by artifacts. Excellent location for a half-day adventure with the entire family. Artifacts and showcase pieces require better care. It would have been better to pay for an electric buggy for moving within the complex because it is too hot to walk, especially in the summer. There is no designated parking place. The meal at the Kamat Lokaruchi hotel next door is excellent.
The art museums are excellent, and the original native tribes' homes were brilliantly constructed, depicting how people used to live in the past. The only disappointment was that they had locked all of the houses, but it was still worth a visit. The most wonderful experience of our culture is very beautifully narrated in sculptures and very old civilized ways of people's cultures and equipment and tools used by them are well preserved, and a small lake is located inside, birds sound, and good environment to spend weekend and imbibe our culture in its purest form.
Visited this place on the way back from Ramnagar. Ticket prices 100/- for adults and 50/- for children. Disappointing was that there was no option for online payment. It has beautiful sculptures carved of different cultures of ancient India. I recommend more improvement Worthing the ticket price.
Very good place to visit if interested in knowing about traditional Karnataka culture. The place have proper parking and entry fees of INR 50 per person.
Nice place to know the tribes and folklore of karnataka. Nicely presented in different museums within the complex. Lots of photo ops. Different folklores, tribes and their respective dance forms and other art forms like yakshagana, dollu kunta, bhoota kola etc are represented here. The people are friendly and will walk you through all the exhibits. The entrance fee is just ₹50 and ₹25 for adults and kids. I would recommend you to tip the guides inside. This is their only lively hood. This place is open from 9: 30 in the morning till about 5: 30 in the evening. Safe to visit even during Covid times as it's not too crowded and the space is open. Kamat Yatrinavas is right next to it, so plan to spend a good time here on your way to Mysore.
We really enjoyed this place with family. We can easily spend three hours to see everything but if you want you can spend more time. Entry fee is Rs. 50 for adults and Rs. 25 for kids. There is no issue with parking as we need to park our vehicle outside and there is enough space without any charges.
Very nice place to get aware of our culture and tradition.you also get great handicrafts there.need a complete day to explore it.the traditional food nearby is awesome
Good place to visit specially know the cultural heritage of different places of Karnataka. You may also have good food variety in lunch or breakfast in adjacent restaurant. Really nice place to see.
Visitors can get the glimpse of olden days Karnataka art & cultures, traditional dress and life style in this Govt.run museum. Very nice place to visit.
Beautiful experience to recollect the old generation house styles, clothes design, and other more things. You can feel the real Indian styles and the fragrance of history. Must visit with family and kids.
Amazing Place, Folk Museum showcasing various Folk performances of karnataka, shows the rich & diverse cultures & heritage of karnataka, Very well maintained, Must Visit place.
We had been to this place and really nice place to see and the history behind this janapada loka is even more fantastic and I am impressed when I heard one of the IAS officer took initiative to build this small world
Such a calm and quite place to relax and have a walk after having something to eat at Kamath Hotel which is right next to this place. Just taking a stroll through this place will enlighten anyone about the different art and dance forms of Karnataka. Well maintained and a beautiful place.
Janapada Loka (folklore world) is an open air museum found by Mr. Nagegowda. . Beautiful place made with Karnataka's folklore. The place is quite vast with complete tree canopy. There are statues of karnataka's janapada & artifact's. The statues looks so realistic, colorful and well decorated. There are statues of Yakshagana, Bhootadakola, dollu kunitha, sammal, Pooja kunitha, kodava kunitha, kamsaale, grinding oil using buls, ploughing, jaggalige and so on. . There's a small Ganesha temple. . Many small padas (poems) sung while doing different works in olden days at villages. . The hatti (huts) are so realistic. . They have two museums. One has tools used for cooking and agriculture. Other has statues with real costumes, face masks (mukhavada). . There's a folk singer Mr. Mallaya who is very talented. He has an amazing high pitched voice. He sung 3 amazing songs for us and walked us through the picture gallery of different tribes, books and art works of the founder. Another museum has the costume designer himself explaining the history and place of origin. . They have real huge Teru used for the procession of God, brought from thousands year old Someshwara temple, Ulsoor Bengaluru. . Many animal & birds Statues are there. Also pallaki. . Some live ducks, swans & rabbit (which is not necessary). .
If you are planning to go on date and want to spend quality time then it's a nice place. With family also you can go and relax. The ambience is serene and you'll get good vibes.
