Kabini Safari Tours

My ratings are based on few observations -
1. Buses are comfortable, but we kept seeing a lot of jeeps and which can maneuver easily in different directions. There are no online bookings for Jeeps. This shattered our joy
2. The buses are not Electric, so it makes a lot of noise. They also don't have window bars. So they are not expecting any attacks from the animals. So it's safe.
3. We saw Deers, Elephants and most importantly humans. The humans were roaming around in jeans. The humans were fascinating species and seemed native to the area.
4. The recently completed Power lines run through the forest. This has depleted the number of sightings.
5. Weirdly enough there are very few paths which can go near the lake, so you miss the opportunity to spot animals near the water body.
6. Seat no. 26 is the front row single seat with the best possible view from the bus.

Weekend it's crowded and I prefere to book tickets online rather then going and buying in the counter.

Spotted only this in tour, went on weekday morning 6: 30 - 9: 00, lots of deer can be spotted, buffalos, wild boar, birds etc. Worth the visit

We stayed in HD kote and it is 18 km from the Safari park. We booked a canter online three days in advance. Spotted Guar, wild boar etc. It was bit disappointment as we did nt spot any Tiger.

Awesome, online pre-booking is must for weekend safari.

One of the prominent place to add to the Bucket list Destination. Really suitable for natural lovers

Experience the wild in an organised bus tour of the jungle edges. Best times to visit are the summers and afternoons. A trip for a single adult costs Rs 610 and can last upto 3 hours

Great place to get a chance to see wild animals. I don't think there's any better place than this in Karnataka to sight tigers and leopards.

It was a lifetime experience. I must have done 20+ safaris in my life but for the first time we sighted a majestic beast of a tiger along with herds of Gaurs Elephants etc. We visited the range on the 28th for afternoon safari. A must visit place.

I'm a regular visitor for this place from 2014 to till date. Over the years they improved alot with booking system, more number of safari vehicles, car parking space, toilet facility and more. Overall the best safari experience place in south india with more number of Tiger sightings.

We can book tickets online as well as can purchase in counter. Online tickets are given priority first. Seat numbers are allocated and vehicle number is given. Weekdays safari timing is more than weekends.

Very rare to see a tiger in this safari. You will see mostly deer's, 1 or 2 elephants. Bus ride is very rough and hard on your back, and for seniors. If you have spine problems, do not prefer this ride. Ticket price is also very expensive.

Price Wise okay! I found the road connecting to this from Kerala more Interesting than the safari Itself! You can get to see lot's of deers and Elephants!

Did couple of safaris on bus 18th aug evening and 19th aug morning.the jungle is beautiful, more so due to the monsoon season, it's lush green. Sighted some nice birds, elephants (head on shots of a tusker), Indian gaurs.sadly, couldn't sight any big cats.however, saaya (black panther) was sighted on 18th morning.

No tiger was spotted, waste of money and time.
Better go to zoo to see the wild animals.
Not recommend anyone to visit this place

Not a good safari to enjoy wild life.
Jungle is green but rearly see any animal.
Safari bus having too much noice and not stop at places.
Guide available as a show piece not guiding any thing.

This is government operating safari, this is where they issue tickets but better you book online otherwise you may need to stand in que and should be an hour before safari commence. Place is clean and they 3-4 buses and zeep in operation currently.

Kabini is been love. Couldn't sight the Black Panther but spotted a lot of deers and Tigers in 1 safari only.

No sighting for the 3 safaris done. 2 on 28th and 1 on 29th. This could be probably due to de-weeding.

Need to be patient to sight wild life through bus safari, Kabini river Safari not accessible to general public as it needs booking in Resorts.
Lack for general public facilities no Resturants for breakfast and lunch.

Safari starts from 6am and tickets are sold from 5.30am.
Tickets are fast selling so better to be before 5.30am.
They have 2-3 buses and 2 jeeps.
Photography charges are seperate.
Coming to safari it's for about 1hr.
I went in October and it had rained previous night and we went for 6.30am batch all we could find was deers (can call it deer safari), bison, wild dog and hens.
Overall good experience for kids and first timers.
Price: 450rs

This is forest department operated safari and your best chance to see big cats, elephants, gaur and other animals in the wild. Three buses run every day at 6: 30am and 3: 30pm for 2.5 hr safari (week day). The safari time is reduced to 1.5hr on week end and 2 trips in morning and evening to accommodate crowd. Tickets are issued 30 minutes before the safari time, better be in the queue at-least an hour before safari time to get the tickets (The ticket rules keep changing over time). The drivers are dedicated and very good in spotting animals.

Pros:
1. Cost: Some what affordable when compared to JLR (it has its cons). JLR for 2 would cost 25K per day and this would cost you 2K for safari and another 8k (stay and food include) on average. (+ or - 2k depending on resort and camera you use).
2. Drivers are knowledgeable, dedicated and very good in spotting wild animals. As good as JLR. To name a few Rajanna 1 and 2, bogi, narsima and all others. I have takes some good pictures with this safari, will share it in the post.
3. The crowd (co passengers) are all wild life enthusiasts so u will have a god experience.
4. There is a shop for some basic snacks close by, toilets are available for visitors to use at the safari place (3 hrs there is a long time).

Cons:
1. Only bus no jeep safari. Not complaining they are comfortable enough but for photographers it's a bit less then ideal.
2. Booking is tough. Need to stand in line as its first come first serve. At times I have seen people standing in the queue as early as 4 AM in the morning. Or some times even earlier.
3. You will not have the luxury as in JLR and you also don't pay for it.
4 To accommodate crowd the safari is reduced to 1.5 hr on weak end and not enough for sighting.

Advice:
Jan to may is the best time for sighting. But if like to see green then post June is best time.
Getting tickets need you to be there about an hour early. Tickets issues 30 minutes before safari.
Few good resorts to stay near by can choose any. I am comfortable with lake view as it's closest.

Overall if it is a bad day and u don't spot any animal, you would not feel very bad as you would have not burnt 25K per day on it. Trust me this is the best place for sighting. Some pictures to prove my point

Guidelines mentioned in website not followed. Children below age group create mess during safari

We did two safaris (canter/bus). The guide commentary was absolutely absent n I wish it wasn't lacking.
Morning one was bad for photographers - the driver was rash n that hardly allowed you with any time to click birds / deers / monkeys etc. He stopped only if there were big wild animals like elephant or wild cats. The chase felt elusive.
Afternoon Safari was good. Had a better driver who stopped for elephants, bison, wild boar n what not.also managed to get a glimpse of a tiger from quite a distance.

Got a chance to see a Tiger, Peacock and Deer. Been really wonderful. You will have to book the ticket for safari two days in advance from the website.

Two times I went to kabini safari, first time I saw tiger very closely but when I went second time we didn't found tigers.

Well trained drivers help in spotting wild animals. Can feel the forest engulfed from all directions.

Afternoon 3-4pm rides are useless. We didn't spot anything. Not even an elephant. Perhaps morning rides are better.

Very nice but now weekend days they're reduce the time and route only 1 hr I think charge also now it's 350.

Every day morng and eveng Safari is Available here.we can see lot of deers. Other animals are luck to see. Especially leopards and tigers.great place for wildlife enthusiastic and natural lovers.

We couldn't see anything other than fallow deers, peacocks and frogs.you can see more animals in Mysore - Wayanad Bandipur road.

Amazing nature deers filled place 500 per person ticket cost each bus is 25 seater only 2 bus and few jeeps.

Superb experience. If you are serious about clicking pictures take the morning Safari. Also the driver that takes you on the Safari also influences the experience. Take a good prime lens of about 400mm if you need to click pics fast. Because the animals vanish when the people make a bit of noise.

A very good organising place, they charge 500 per head for the safari.
There are 2 safaris per day, one at morning 6 and another at evening 3. Limited tickets will be given.
It's better to come by 10 and get the tickets for evening safari.
Parking charge is 50 for a car.
DSLR with a single lens will be charged 200.
The seats in safari van is based on first come first serve basis, so occupy the van by 2.30 atleast.
The safari duration will be 2.5 hours, you can spot plenty of Malabar squirrel, Deers, Elephants, Bison, Monkeys, Crested Serpent eagles, Hawks, Indian Roller. Tigers, leopards and pythons are purely based on luck. Extremely lucky people can spot black panthers.
There are very few good hotels nearby, so pack your bag with ample food, snacks and water bottles.
One restroom is available, which is pretty decently maintained.

There is no proper arrangements for issue of tickets no shelter to stand in queue for long time otherwise safari was good. Driver was very good he covered lot of forest

Ideal place to do safari.

Did not expect a 3hrs of safari tour. Chances of animal sighting are high spotted a lepoard fr first time.

Just loved the early morning safari, mist and cool breeze.

V.nice location river in d background, good food, jungle safari, d only jungle u.can sight tigers.

Unfortunately, there were no major sightings, but the park is beautiful with a huge population of deers.

We went with full excitement to see at least one tiger and few animals but we ended up seeing onlydeers and elephant.
