I went solo here.as the place was totally remote and i went offseason i was little scared.but the security was very friendly and a lady at tea shop spoke well that i felt its very safe.they also told about plastic strictly not allowed (which is the best thing) and security keeps cleaning very frequently.its a small trekkin and then come a 3 layer fort.unfortunattely there was no water.idealy to travel in july, august to enjoy awesome weather.if visitior are going pls maintain the cleanliness and dont throw plastics.

I don't have experience.but I watch on YouTube.i really want to go to See the port.

It's open everyday. No entry fees, except parking fees 20Rs. Walk through the fields to get to the entrance of the trek/climb. In the fields u get fresh steam of drinking water that's coming from gudda. If your fitness is average then you'll feel very tiry. Take breaks at each stop n then proceed. Usually 2-3 hrs round way trek if you spend good time at each stop. Viewpoint at the 5th and final stop, but the last stretch is closed due to landslide. Worth the visit.

A must visit place when you are in Shimogga. Trekking and visiting Shiva temple is experience on its own.

This is a very good place to visit which is near to teerthahalli.it requires minimum of 2 to 3 hours to move around.entry is restricted after 4pm in the evening

Started to this place at 7am from Shivamogga, Reached there by 9am. The trek is not so rough with less slope. Apart from rainy season you may visit this place anytime. When trekking please be careful about the snakes as we saw 2 snakes during the trek especially when you take kids. The fort is so beautiful and makes you astonished the way it is built. The stones, designs, single piece bath tub, Nandi sculpture, few designs even reminds you Belur-Halebidu. Good place to meditate, you can hear the air moving. Went on a Friday so it wasnt crowded at all.

Wonderful place to visit during monsoon and post monsoon. You wont get a greenery view in summer.

Note: entry to the upper second half is restricted due to landfall. Entry is allowed till the kalyani/pushkarani.

Kindly DO NOT throw plastic garbage, keep the environment neat and clean. Do not feed animals with junk food. Keep calm silent and Enjoy the beauty of nature

Visit this 15th century Fort (mostly ruined) and enjoy every steps while treck, u may find few small snakes don't hurt them, it's their place we are encroaching.
Reminds of our ancients living style, their planning for basic amenities worship place and enjoy magnificent nature views

It's great experience.not very tough trekking.kids above age of 6 also can make it easily.
Best season in June July Aug when it's raining.
How ever you can enjoy visiting Kavaledurga from OCT to JAN also. Need to have your own transport to reach the location. Half an hour drive from Thrithahalli

Nice fort with about 1 hour trek from the base. Weekends are pretty crowded with about 1000+ visitors as compared to about 300 on weekdays. Plan to visit as early as possible as the mid day makes the trek tiring and difficult.
No shops are available in the mid way so carry your waterbottles and snacks. Make sure you do not litter as there are no waste bins on the way or at top.
Its cool on top and can spend about 1 hour at top and nothing much to do apart from seeing some ruins.

Best place to visit at summer
You can't trekk the fort by holding umbrella in rainy season.

Super place. Bring water with you.after you reach the top.you will be thirsty. Best time is to go there is Mansoon starting season

A historical place.you will have to walk a lot, hence it's good to carry good Amount of water bottles.
It's a good place to go out for a day with family/friends.

Trekking around 2kms, disappointed because we can't go till the top now as it is restrictred due to landslide.

If you are a history lover, this place is for you, a short trek of 2.5 km to reach the beautiful ruins of Keladi dynasty from 16th century.

Nice place, around 2km trek. Climate was cool and good when we went there (After 2.30pm).

An awesome place to visit. You need to trek 2kms to the top, the path is rocky, people with back issues and older people should reconsider doing it and take precaution, especially if its raining. The ruins of the fort is very beautiful and magnificent, the pond will leave you awe struck. One should definitely visit this place, you can complete it within 3hrs at comfortable pace. Carry an umbrella for sure coz it will help if its raining and even if its sunny. Water, sunscreen and a hat are other things which will be helpful.

With family it would take 3 hrs to go up and come down. Not recommended if you have plans to visit other places too

A small trek but amazing views and ruins give you a feeling of what was. A good place for photos

Best time to visit during monsoon.during summer the sun strikes too hard. Too much hot to climb up.but the view abouve is worth it.
Advisable to visit during monsoon season. Lucky if you find foggy weather.
There's a temple above where they still conduct aarati and poojas.
And the ruins of the ancient times.where there is the places detailed as to the bath tub, a pond where the ancient people used take bath. And ruins of the rooms. The climb might be little tiring if the sun is above.

You can take 3-4km trek to the fort. After reaching the peak u can see a mesmerizing view of kodachadri. Just too beautiful this fort is.

Really enjoy walk through the forest and view from above.

The whole trek towards the fort is so naturistic. It rained like cats and dogs during my visit and be ready to be drenched if you need some good photos.

I had visited this place 2 years back in November. It was very sunny, everything was soo dry. So we did reach the peak. After 2 years I visited this fort in monsoon. Now it's beautiful with greenery everywhere. It was bit slippery and visitors were not allowed to trek till the peak. We need to walk more than 2 kms to reach the fort so I don't recommend this place for elderly.

Must visit because it is the most beautiful place in the district. It takes around one full day to see the fort completely and enjoy the nature beauty.
Carry your own food for whole day till you reach the top.
Food is not available in the fort and besides.
Best time to visit is in after monsoon as it looks like green fort.
It is known as yelusuttina kote in kannada.
It was also ruled by nayakas of keladi and chenamma too.
Parking is available below the fort.

Day out with buddies is best. Long walk with crazy people, friends, besties are more preferable, unpredictable weather, some times rains some times sun will shine but the weather is beautiful.

A very good place to trek with family and friends especially in the rainy season the place is covered with greenery. But the treeking on the old steps made of rocks take alot of toll on your body. You get so tired climbing so carry water bottle and only small outlet is present there so if you want it's better to carry it.

Two suggestions- start early in the morning, visit in the monsoons.
The trek is fairly long (considering the fitness levels during pandemic) and sadly I couldn’t reach the top as I was exhausted and was late for the next place. There is a small hill and a temple halfway through the fort. There is also a weird pond which is turquoise blue in colour and I have personally never seen anything like that. It was kind of creepy too visiting that water body. The view this place has to offer is amazing.

Must go during rainy days if you are a rain lover. Photogenic rocks and stones destroyed yet beautiful fort. An easy trek and splendid views. It was heavily raining when we reached there this made our trekking the best. Water was everywhere on steps too. We took an hour to climb up another 45mins to down.

Place was good but no maintenance.
For parking some village peoples they charge 50/- rupees I don't know why this parking charges?

Best place for trekking. I went to this heaven place in rainy season and enjoyed a lot. The place where u see the nature at its best. It is close to my place thats become easy to go.

Nice place to do trucking with friends.this fort was beautiful.in the top of this hill the view was amazing. The fort containing few old temples also and the old kalyali. Our experience was very good.

Is a best place to visit in monsoon season. Do not pollute or throw plastic around. If u want it to look beautiful for generations then just enjoy the place and don't Try to leave any traces that u had visited. It is maintained very well. An absolute treat for photography in monsoon

Very beautiful experience, but very sad to see fort as been destroyes by hyder Ali and mainly for tourists please use dustbins do not litter the place and behave like uneducated chooths.

The beautiful fort to visit during rainy season, and on bikes, the fort is too high, u can see amazing views and into the nature, it's located near tirthalli, and this is the alone place there to visit

Fort is located on a hill top surrounded by lush green forests of Western Ghats. I visited this just after second wave lockdown was removed. I was not allowed to take plastic covers by security guards. No entry fee. Early morning climb will let you see various birds and smaller animals like Malabar giant squirrels, Malabar grey hornbills etc. Within the fort are temples, ruined palace, ponds.

This place is good to visit, but you have walk 4 km+4km=8km. Best place to do trucking, kind of adventure place, you have pay parking fees for bikes (20rupees) and cars (50rupees)

Calm place. Medium trek level. Rainy season is suggested. Please carry one small bottle of water while trekking. It's a must.

One of the best place for nature lovers there is a whole fort is beautiful with some temples and kalyanis and on top there is a wonderful view of mani reservoir which make our eyes falls to the nature and view of western ghats suddest everyone to visit, we have to go 3km up to reach top and there will be some huddles if any patients or older peoples if they having the strength than can go or avoid to reach at top and carry some water best time to visit is between September to January.

Never miss the opportunity of trekking in Kavaledurga fort when you come for Kodachadri trek. Remnants of keladi dynasty palaces, fort remnants, temples inside the thick forest is a treat. The views from the peak of Varahi river dam is simply mesmerizing.

Very nice place and easy place to trek if you had experience of trekking earlier. Can reach to the peak within a hour if your team has experience in trekking.
View from the peak is superb. In the evening try to reach before 4PM as the guards say that you have to return before 4PM.

It was like a trekking place. After reaching the entrance, we have to walk 2km to reach the peak which takes not less than an hour The path is very steep with full of stones.

Beautiful fort with plenty of natural views and historical significance. The walk to the top of the fort is tiring but its worth to try as you will see a beautiful Mani reservoir. Early morning and evening sunset are beat suitable time to visit, do carry water and please don't litter there.

Must visit place. 2 hrs to reach top of the port and 1 hr to come get down. Ideal time start is 8 in the morning. From the top you can see the beautiful Varahi water reservoir view. There are 5 forts (5 ಸುತ್ತಿನ ಕೋಟೆ).

Kavaledurga is 19 km from Thirthalli. Its takes around 40 mins to reach to the top of the fort from the trek starting point. 70% path is paved with stones and remaining forest path. 2 snacks stores are located at the starting point of trek. You can purchase water bottles and snacks there. Washroom is also located beside the stores. The best season to visit the fort is during august to october.

Summer is best to visit this place. During rainy season the leaches will be there.
Start to climb in the morning itself.
A plenty of things to learn from the Fort, as history, as architecture, the way Fort build etc.
Very recently ASI unearthed a Venranda, Kitchen etc. See how water channels build up.
Even if you don't know about the Fort and it's existences.just walk to the top and enjoy the lush greenery around the Fort.

It's a good place for trucking. Once u reach the top of the fort we will see the beauty. Fort is destroyed by Hyder ali as per the sources. Facilities need to be provided so that it will attract more tourist.

Better to visit post rainy season to enjoy the real beauty, make sure to leave early if you are visiting in summer, the trek is almost takes 2-3 hrs up and down.the view is divine from the top and the sculptures are very photoesque.

If you are visiting thirthahalli then don't miss to trek kavaledurga. It's an easy trek that takes 3hours to climb up the hill and return back. We start the trek by passing through green paddy fields to reach the foot of the hill. It has an ancient fort with 5 doors at different levels, ruined palace, beautiful temple and few water bodies. The view from the top of the hill is breath taking. Enjoy the trek.

Nice place for an easy trek which takes 3 hours to climb up and come down. The view is awesome from the hill top. One has to pass through 5 levels of climbing where at each level we have to pass through a fort door.

One of the best places for trekking folks in Shimoga. There are around 5 levels in this fort n each one gives you nice n different views/feelings when you climb. Satisfaction is guaranteed after completing all the levels

The view from the top is amazing. Just don't stop in the middle. It's not even worth, even if u stop one step before the peak, the ultimate view pays off everything

But our Karnataka government should give some more care on this beautiful place so that this will be attractive tourist place

It's most interesting port and all facilities what we r using now same this old port has and water resources and its smartness of handling is mind blowing and from all temple viwe mind blowing and final view of dam back storage water in between mountains it's amazing I enjoyed lot
