Makkithitta Home Stay

One of the good homestays in Sakleshpur. Our host Bharath is very kind and the people there are very accommodating. The food was well prepared and delicious. Btw they cook veg food and if you need non-veg then it will be arranged from outside with extra charges. The rooms are neat and well maintained. There are a lot of activities too like mud volleyball, a small pond to swim, nature walk, etc. To reach the homestay there is a slight off-road, if you cant go by yourself do let the homestay folks know then they will arrange a jeep.

Overall it was a good experience.

Choose this place if you want to relax in a clean place with simple accommodation great food and fantastic warm service. Bharath (the owner) was super helpful and responsive right from the start of my interaction with him. He was very clear on what to expect and the options available. He was also very flexible. Rooms and bathrooms are very basic but very clean. Saroja aunty (owner) always served us with a bright smile. Prema (kitchen helper) took care of us so well. Served us coffee and tea anytime of the day. We were served a wide variety of home cooked tasty mallnad food. Every meal was different. Breakfast was my favorite. As my friend said.stay here is like staying at ur relatives house with fantastic view and good food.

We visited here during Dasara holidays & we loved our stay. Its a Budget home stay. They charged us Rs. 2700 per person, which we felt was a little expensive looking at the rooms.

But the view and weather was amazing, which was Paisa vasool. They have mud Water volley ball which was perfect for us & a small lake with a boat which our kids enjoyed.

They have a small stream flowing near by which we can visit via the homestay itself (I guess it joins the hemavathi river)

The food is pure vegetarian (not even egg is allowed). They served us pure malnad style food which we all enjoyed alot. The hosts were very friendly, felt like a home only.

We booked the stay at Makkithitta Home Stay at last minute. The booking process was very smooth with Bharat giving full details about the stay, vegetarian food, places to see and activities. Almost finalized the dates in just one hours.

Our stay at Makkithitta Home Stay was for 2 Nights. Location is very nice. The stay was very comfortable. The best part of the homestay was vegetarian only food made from fresh vegetables. Each breakfast, lunch and dinner included one local specialty, was healthy and delicious also. On top of this served nicely with care.

Bharat also suggested and help plan list of close-by places that we could visit, giving full details of the place, time needed to cover the place and route planning.

And now about activities at the Home Stay. Plenty of indoor games (table tennis, carrom etc.). The Zipline will be very memorable. Kids and myself (initially reluctant to do this) enjoyed every bit of it. The boat ride in the lake was also very good.

And best part of the stay is Mr. Tejpal (Bharat's father) spending time with us, giving brief history of home stay also made us play a game equally good for both adults and kids. Enjoyed every bit of it. Spent good time talking with other guests at Home Stay. Next day morning he also did Cards Magic. Everybody enjoyed this part.

Overall, a memorable stay. Thanks to Bharat and team, Mr. Tejpal for sharing his experiences and spending time with all of us. Recommend this to every body who are looking forward to having some good time with family

Makkithitta represents a lost tradition that one would find in the traveller's inns - A host actually investing himself in keeping his guests entertained. The whole family has dedicated themselves to taking care of the guest's needs. Mr. Bharath is continuing the fine tradition established by his father by arranging and personally involving in many entertaining activities. Definitely one of the best entertaining, safe, hygienic and tasty food serving holiday destinations ever. Worth several repeated visits.

Worst experience there was not proper maintenance and the rooms are not maintained properly food is not up to the level totally not worth to money they are fake refer to public to not to go here

Excellent family stay, friendly homely service. Just like being in you home. They have their own home page in fb. Owner is Sri Taj Pal, Sorry no Non Veg, puremalnad food served, very friendly attitude. Stay includes breakfast hot beverages Supper and Dinner perday basis.

This property's scenic view is good, filled with bird chirping, fog. Prema was very kind and helpful, child friendly. Our experience was blissful

I visited Makkithitta 2nd time and overall had a pleasant experience, We reached by 11: 30, Bharath had shared links clearly in advance so there was no confusion to reach, its a off road experience to get there, but destination is worth the terrain.

Bharath and families hospitality is always commendable and welcoming. Food was average during my second visit, but it was delicious when visited first.

The most enjoyable aspect of Makkithitta was the nature around here, small walk takes us to experience natural stream of water flowing even during April/May. We had a boating experience during sunset and felt amazed for the quietness around. They have a great agricultural land surrounded that makes this spot outstandingly beautiful. Take a nature walk in the early morning around 7 and you hear peacocks creaking.

Overall for one to two days, one will feel refreshed and enjoy the serenity.

I have visited this homestay multiple times, and the experience with the services stayed the same spanning over four years. This place is situated ideally between the hills and the river base flowing throughout the estate, making it look surreal. The rooms are neatly managed so does the entire homestay amenities. They primarily serve vegetarian food for all meals; however, if you put in a request a couple of hours before, they would get a good non-vegetarian meal or starters from the nearby club. We ordered dry chicken pepper and chili chicken, and both the starters were lip-smacking. If you are not a regular spice consumer, you may need to put a word while ordering your dish. Kids have plenty of areas to explore, and so do naturalists.

It was very memorable stay with great hospitality. Bharath and his family were soo responsive and friendly behavior. Foos was awesome and location was quiet and beautiful.

One of the best place for a away from hustle and bustle of the city. Fantastic hospitality with yummy vegetarian food. It's a great place to unwind.

We recently spent a few days at this Homestay. We drove down from Bengaluru. The place is excellent, pure vegetarian food was an important factor, and the family which runs the place played excellent hosts. Sensitive to customers needs and open to requests and suggestions. The place is devoid of tapestry but moderately rustic which makes the place charming. The rooms are clean and toilets well maintained. Hot water was available 24/7. The weather was indeed very cold and enjoyable. The place is not too pricy, but can do with some minor improvements in aspects like approach road, guide posts with more clarity and an intercom system in rooms to seek help.
All in all families will enjoy this place. Activities have been listed on the website for those interested. We look forward to visit this place again.

The road connecting from main road to the property is really horrible and normal vehicles cannot travel. Need a 4x 4 off roader vehicle.
The breakfast menu was very limited and lunch items were repeated for the Dinner also. Hot water facility not available for Dormitory. Facilities provided for the cost charged is very minimal.

True definition of home stay. People out here treat the guests like family members. Keep up the good work

The place is so serene and beautiful with a grand view. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and neatly maintained bedsheets. The family was very friendly and polite. Food was amazing, every meal was a different variety with few delicacies (veg food). There were indoor activities like carrom and TT as well as outdoor activities like shuttle, boating, etc. There was a river in 100 meters where we could have a bath, and a waterfall which is 2 kms away. They arranged campfire in the night. They also helped us by arranging a jeep to go around. Overall, the weekend turned out to be a great relaxing vacation.

Good place to get away from noisy cities. Listen to the chirping birds, look at the clouds and relax. Hospitality is excellent.

We were two families; nine members. But the stay was managed so very well by them! Kudos. In spite of having some 70+ guests (that was Christmas day as well), the husband-wife duo (and son) paid individual attention to all of us, making us very much 'at-home'. Tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared and served. We enjoyed the vegetarian food throughout! We also visited a nearby old temple and did some hill-trekking. Overall, very enjoyable experience. We would like to visit again.

The hospitality extended was very good and the especially food which was very nice.we were a group of 30 people including kids n had a great time. A must visit place for a perfect family outing.

Beautiful location and Mrs Saroja is a wonderful host. She ensured our stay was the most comfortable and took care of all our needs most efficiently. The food is really tasty and we enjoyed all our meals there. If you have small children, you can even ask for a customised dish (we asked for something like a khichdi) and you will not be disappointed. Their coffee is great, homegrown and you can even buy some when you leave.
Overall, this stay is highly recommended!

Mrs. & Mr. Tejpal are an excellent host, Veg food is yummy and awesome! You get free WiFi, Rooms are decent with hot water facilities. Mr. Tejpal's magic with playing cards are a treat to watch! In nut shell it's an excellent place for a short stay!

There are many reasons for finding this Home stay so great.firstly ambience and hospitality. The owner is very simple jovial entertainer lively and down to earth person. They take special care for the guests3. Even children doesn't want to leave the Home. The place is beautiful and hygiene. Food is tasty. Prema the best cook who prepares variety. Ragi mudde kadabu so delicious. I never tasted so many delicacies.
They bring all guests together. Play games. Borne is also there. I recommend all to stay for atleast 2 days and don't miss to visit habbi falls

We were 9 families. Stay was pleasent. Rooms are good. Veg food was super. Very flexible. Enjoyed evening program or engagement. We had good time overall.

This place is located a few kms from the main sakleshpur city in Hanbal. A perfect place with friends and family with the best scenic beauty. The place is spacious enough to accommodate birthday parties and small functions too. The best part about this place are the hosts - making sure the guests are comfortable in every way and entertaining them with games, magic tricks and stuff (free of cost). The food is simple, homely, pure vegetarian and the best part is all the veggies are grown in thier estate.

All in all this is the best place with your family and friends.
