Mercara Gold Estate Coffee Plantation

Today we visited this plantation site, very interesting. Mr Ravi gave us tour to the plantation explained about the different varieties of coffee and other spices in detail. It's like a small trecking experience also for a while. The plantation estate is well maintained and well planned.
The coffee museum is really interesting. It gave interesting information, it explains in detail how coffee is grown and processed in different parts of the the world. It's well organised and maintained by the management of the estate.
Also got to taste the chocolate made by Surender using cocoa butter. Those hearts shaped chocolates brought smile on our faces! Their hospitality is worth visiting this place! All the staff members are really interesting and welcoming!
Last but not least the rest rooms are very clean and well made!

Visit to this place was time well spent. Tour guide here seemed very knowledgeable and aware of all the details. A must visit place for coffee lovers.

The tour cost is 300 rupees per person with a complimentary coffee at the end of the tour. Could have been slightly cheaper for being a steal deal.

Great option for a plantation visit. They take you on a walking tour around the plantation where you get information around how coffee and other spices are grown. You also get a view of how coffee is ground. There is also a coffee museum. As part of the tour you also get a complimentary coffee.

There is also a shop where you can buy coffee of various variety and blends which you don't usually get off the shelf (like Liberia). You can also buy chocolates and various spices.

You can also book lunch in the cafe where you get traditional Coorg Thali.

Wonderful tour that was made special by the tour guide Ravi. Ravi is very knowledgeable, articulate, and patient. He answered all questions well and gave us an unforgettable experience. The estate is well maintained and coffee is great.

We were hosted by Mr. Murugesh. He made the entire tour very insightful. Would recommend everyone to visit once.

Overhyped place. Don't know why they charge 200 rupees per person (Just to view plantation and for a guide. SERIOUSLY? Also, the rates of coffee stuffs are sky higher than Madikeri shops. Seriously guys, you are doing big business with that property

The coffee plantation walk was for 5 10min and the rest was all Gyan.the processing unit was a small shed for packaging.food was ok.nothing special.tables are limited and need to wait sometimes.email response is fast and service is prompt.

This is a small estate with a reasonably priced coffee tour. The guide Ravi seemed very passionate about coffee and explained every process in detail! There is a shop and a cafe as well. The shop though isn’t as reasonably priced as you would expect. It’s almost the same pricing for everything as you would get on the market. It’s just that you the experience adds value to whatever you buy. Worth a visit though!

Great experience. The guide has explained about A to Z of the coffee plantation, coffe powder extraction etc. There is steep climb which could be difficult for the elders. 1 hour guided tour 200 INR per head

Visited in last week of December. Did the coffee plantation walk and tasted a free cup at the end. ₹200 per person charges. Ravi, our guide on the plantation walk seemed very passionate about gourmet coffee and very much against instant coffee. Got to see and learn about the different types of coffee their characteristics.

Must visit place while in Coorg, the host here is super friendly. Mr. Murugesh gave us the tour of the estate he is very knowledgeable and explained every thing in detail. Must try here is their homemade chocolates and chilli wine.

Coffee lovers must visit this place. I personally got to know lot about coffee. Other than coffee they have many spices grown in this area. After plantation round you can visit you can witness coffee seeds roasting process.

It is a beautiful place for coffee ️ estate visit. Visited them during the diwali holidays on 23rd October 2022 Sunday. Ravi was a beautiful person who taken us to coffee plantation visits as our guide and he explained using depth of the coffees basic and the information was very useful. We also had snacks in their coffee shop and the coffee shd momos were really nice. We enjoyed a lot this place.

Just amazed to see the plantation site. Mr Ravi assisted us brilliantly and gave us each inch of information about various coffee types (mainly Arabica and Robusta) and other spices that are grown in the estate. He was the most able guide you need in such places covering all aspects. Must visit site in Coorg if you are a coffee lover/addict

Had a great coffee and various spices plantation tour guided by Mr. Charan who has shared some informative insights on various floras present there. The place is quite beautiful surrounded by lush green forests and mountains. Lastly had an amazing experience seeing the manufacturing process, machines of coffee and chocolates along with some complementary coffee’s.

This place is just awesome, Ravi was our guide he explained very well about coffee it's different types and their characteristics, about different spices. Ina nutshell very enlightening and there is a lot that goes behind Coffee generation.
Now coming to taste of filter coffee, it's just too good.

Nice place for tourists, here you will find Mr Ravi as your guide who is a very passionate guy when it comes to coffee, he guides you through the estate and provides knowledge about all plantations. At a price of ₹200 per head you get a guided tour of the estate and a cup of coffee with options to buy coffee grown at this plantation. The tour takes approximately 40 mins. Only cash is accepted here. It's a place where you can learn a lot, and it's a great experience.

Got a tour of the estate with our tour guide Ravi. Ravi was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions about coffee and spices. Ended with a coffee sampling where I had black coffee made from freshly ground arabica beans. Overall great experience.

Ravi was a great tour guide and explained in detail about the coffee, cocoa and spice plants. Also showed us the roasting process and was very patient with all the questions. Had a great experience and bought freshly roasted coffee from Beans n Brew and spices.

A detailed tour around the coffee plantation was brilliant. Ravi our host gave us a lot of info in that 30 plus minute span and the filter coffee to end with was delightful.
An afternoon week spent and Rs 200 ahead a steal for the educational tour

This was one of the best time spent in madikeri. Don't skip this. The tour guide was very good in explaining everything. He answered each and every queries very well. The coffee plantation dont only has coffee trees but lot of other trees also. Our tour guide Shaban explained everything abt all the trees very well. Ther have pepper clove cardamom bay leaves basil and even cacoa tree too. The tour was nearly and hour and a half long, worth the time. We saw the roasting and grinding factory too. Fresh coffee to drink was awesome refreshing. They have a store and restaurant too. We did a lot of shopping here for spices wine and coffee. The staff was very polite friendly.all the time smiling and answering our questions.

They were very good. The experience was amazing. Ravi, who did tour for us and showed us around the plantation answered all our doubts and explained everything very meticulously about coffee plantation.

We booked the "Coorg Coffee and Spice Tour" in October 2021. It was an enjoyable experience and the tour guide, Mr. Ravi was very affable and well-informed. The walk itself is quite pleasant and you learn a lot about the varieties of coffee grown on the plantation. Mr. Ravi is very knowledgable and introduced us to the spices grown on the plantation as well. The tour walk introduces you to the basic varieties of coffee, the process of cultivating, processing and manufacturing coffee. You're treated to a cup of filter coffee (with milk or black) at the end of your walk. The staff are very courteous and we ended up purchasing a packet of their Arabica/Robusta filter coffee and some spices.

Had wonderful experience at Mereca gold estate coffee plantation tour. Having Mr Ravi made it more knowledge full journey. A must visit place in coorg, especially when it comes to coffee and spices.

Best place to book a coffee tour in coorg. We thoroughly enjoyed Mr Ravi Prasad's coffee plantation tour which goes about for an hour or so. They charge Rs 200pp per tour which includes two varieties of coffee tasting too. Very informative tour. Worth the money. The vibes are excellent. My only concern was time. We were made to wait for good one hour before our batch could start. They were waiting for more tourist to fill the batch but sometimes there are not enough people to fill the batch.

Amazing informative experience. Ravi, our guide explained us the process of coffee preperation as well as the other spices grown in the estate. The place is easily reachable. And the tour lasted close to one and half hours. The tour ended with a sip of freshly prepared filter coffee. The retail store also has a good collection of items from the estate.

If you want to see the coffee and spices plantation in Coorg then this place is highly recommended. They charge 200₹ person for the tour. The tour will be of 30-40 min in which they will show you different types of coffee plant and different types of spices plant and also they will give you information about the plants. They will show how the coffee beans are harvested and in the end one complementary coffee is included in the tour.

This place is situated some 8.5 kilometers for Raja's seat. The guide walks you through the estate and explains a lot of things about different types of spices and coffee they grow there. A fee of 200 per person is charged and a complimentary coffee is served afterwards. The staff is well behaved and polite. If you like different types of coffee blends you can also buy it from here, they also sell spices, chocolates and non-alcoholic wines. Good place to stop by if you're visiting Coorg.

Nice experience and brilliant cold coffee. Neat and clean estate and courteous staff. Recently, they introduced a coorg thali, with traditional coorg food and it gave us a great taste of the local cuisine. Definitely worth trying.

Amazing place to see and be welcomed by wonderful people. We enjoyed the tour very much and learned more about the local coffee culture and production, tour also includes delicious coffee at the end. Place has a small store where you can buy variety of coffee beans plus also the special Civet coffee, recognized as the most expensive coffee in the world!

I visited this place on the 2nd of Jan by myself and was joined by two other lovely people. The tour was conducted by Mr. Murugesh, who gave us a brief rundown of the estate, the coffee making process, and patiently answered all the questions we had. The tour took approximately 45 mins and the per person charge was INR 200. Mind you, there was hardly any signal (Vodafone) and I recommend arriving with your own vehicles. This is a good place to visit during late December or afterwards because that's when the coffee berries are picked and you may get to see the actual roasting process. Overall, I would highly recommended this tour to all.

One among the best places to visit in coorg. Especially who enjoy the nature. Its worth mentioning the name "Ravi" who guided us through the estate and explained all about the plantation very patiently. And the herbs for sale are very fresh, its worth a shot.

Must visit while you are in Coorg. I had different expectations while visiting Coorg viz coffee plantation everywhere but the urbanisation in city has changed everything and you have to get out of city boundaries to see coffee plantation. Mr. Bansi is very friendly person who gives you tour of this place and has good knowledge of field. You can also buy coffee n tea here at cheap rates.

The owner gave us a tour of the plantation. He was amaaazinggg! He explained everything nicely and now I can tell the difference between good and bad spices! He serves amazing coffee and spices. It's really authentic. Worth going. Totally recommend this if you visit Coorg.

We chanced upon this place on our way to Talakaveri. Great experience especially for my daughter who enjoyed all the information that our guide Mr Murugesan shared. The guide was very pleasant and patiently explained everything my daughter asked. We just loved the tranquility and the variety of the flora. Highly recommend visit.
