My wife and I and our labrador had a wonderful time at Mugilu.
The rooms are spacious and the food is delicious. The best part of the property is the mini jungle just behind the cottages; the chirping of birds and the adorable indie dogs on the property make up for a wholesome experience.

The owner Chandan is a gracious host. Staff are well trained and courteous.

Can't recommend Mugilu enough!

A favorite among my happy places. I and my husband have been there thrice with our Doggo Minnie. And wish to keep going once every year atleast. Away from hectic routine life, Mugilu has always brought me peace. Thanks to the wonderful host Chandan and his team. I love the doggo gang as well!

Choosing to stay at Mugilu was one of the best decisions I ever made during my visit to Sakleshpur. It's a treat to the soul for nature lovers and the way the property has been planned is phenomenal. The staff was very prompt and courteous and was always ready to help out. We also enjoyed the delicious meals prepared there. We got an opportunity to interact with Mr. Chandan who is the owner of the homestay and it was fascinating to listen to how Mugilu gradually took shape and we left with a lot of inspiration from that. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and nature filled getaway!

Beautiful place maintained very warmly and carefully by the owners and their super solid staff

Mugilu is a fantastic, green and quiet getaway from the usual. The property is stunning, spacious (good for walks among trees and native wildlife) and without Wi-Fi- which helps one unwind. We especially appreciated Chandan and Sapna for being wonderful hosts. Their team- Guddu, Naresh, Pooja, Anand and Rakesh are all so sincere, helpful and courteous. The food was always well-prepared and yummy! Of course, there's the added advantage of five, lovely canine friends that wander the property and always up for pats. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Mugilu for three nights in mid August 2023 with our pet dog. Chandan and his staff are great. Service was fantastic. Food was great throughout. Must mention the service which was fantastic. Chandan the owner stays on the property and has a good set of people to take care of the guests. The ambience is fantastic. Weather was nice.

We had a wonderful stay at Mugilu homestay. The independent cottage was very clean and well furnished. Friendly and helpful staff. The food was very tasty. Highly recommend to all.

We visited for 2 days with our labrador boy. Location of the homestay was excellent, thick wooded sorroundings in the estate, gives you the perfect nature feeling, calm and quite, one can be immersed in the nature both in terms of view and sounds. Big bonus is that this place allows pets.
Food for most part was good, however it needs to be improved in terms of having few more items in the menu especially in starters and dry items. It will really benefit the homestay and the guests would love it considering one cannot step out nearby to have or get food.
We were alloted a cottage at the end of the property which was good, however a ceiling fan is a better option than the table fan as it really gets hot and humid during day in summers. Room and bathroom were clean. Pathways throughout the property could have more lights set up which would help the guests to walk safely to dining area post sunset.
The 3 service staffs at the property were really sweet and very very helpful. The dogs at the estate were sweet and friendly.
Overall we and our pet had a good experience and would love to visit this homestay estate again in future.

When we first arrived we were met with great hospitality and that didn't waver, throughout our stay.
The environment felt refreshing and raw. The whole place was like a detox from our usual gadget filled lives and we spent hours together and bonded over the small corner of games they offered like carroms and Uno. We even learnt to play "pallankuli" - a traditional game i probably wouldn't have come across.

The food was great, it was like a proper home cooked meal and they had great variety too - ranging from rotis to sambar and to balance it all some fruits and vegetables.

We went on walks across the property and were even offered to hike and visit a nearby stream. One of their dogs - 'Imili' showed us the way! She kept us on track and the stream was beautiful.

The rooms were well kept - the Patio was my favourite part. The warm sun felt amazing with the cool environment.

It was awesome. It was very quiet and the chirping of the birds everywhere. It was very calm and very green and beautiful. If you want a place to be peaceful this is the right place. There were a lot of activities to do and it was one of the best places I've ever travelled with my family.

Overall an amazing experience, and would definitely want to visit again!

Last but not the least, The staffs were very well behaved and hosted us very well, we felt at home!

The room, the farm, the staff, food all were highlights. Strongly recommended. Away from main road, so only noise you hear is from the birds and crickets. Above all, the fire flies, the whole farm glitters with fireflies in the night. Unique experience.

A good place, to chill and calm. We looked for pet friendly and we got the right one. Staff is so calm and responsive, food is awesome. I found it homely. It has been a wonderful stay. The experience and the vibe was wonderful. Staff have been super helpful and polite. Loved the food too, simple and tasty. Rooms were clean and everything needed was already present at check in. Will surely keep coming back and sending my friends here.

Mugilu is great. The cottages are set up with perfect sit out areas in the balcony where you can drink your tea/coffee and feast on all the greenery around. The food is fantastic and the place is pet friendly. Its not so far into the wilderness that you cant access the sakleshpur town either. The staff is friendly, helpful and excellent at providing you everything that you need (reasonable needs i.e.). The owner, Chandan is a wonderful and friendly host too.
Highly recommended as a long weekend getaway or if you please, for a longer duration as well.

A break in the lap of nature
I travelled with my family. It was a perfect break what I wanted.
It has beautiful coffee estate trail to walk into, great staff and amazing view to the forest and birds.
They don't have wifi - Try talking to eachother
It is having good access to all key sightseeing points in Sakleshpur.

One beautiful line read in the instructions placed in room - Birds, worms, insects are part of our ecosystem. You don't harm them, they don't harm you.

I would recommend this place for

We had the most wonderful time at Mugilu! Chandan and Sapna are great hosts who have passed on their excellent hospitality culture to their team, Anand and Guddu! Together with the four legged team, they provide the best experience one can ask for!
A walk through the plantation and the surrounding grasslands is enough to make one feel humble and grateful for this life.
Once you step into Mugilu, you will walk all out refreshed and inspired.

Good experience, Fantastic place for family, nice food, clean rooms and most of all generous and friendly treatment by staff thanks to Anand, Udbhav and cook for delicious home made food.

Room - was spacious and interiors/furnitures were amazing.
Food - the no of items in breakfast and dinner buffet were limited, but the food was sufficient and very tasty. For room service, the menu is limited and we need to order early. Considering that this is a homestay, they did a good job.
Location - The drive to Mugilu is easy, except for the last 200mtrs or so. The view from the balcony is out of the world, the sounds of the birds, fresh air. Enjoyed everything.
Do check out the small stream near the homestay and go for a bird walk in the estate.

One of the best homestay I have ever visited, the rooms are nicely and cleanly maintained. Each room has it's own balcony which faces the lush green estate with tall trees and have a lot of privacy too. The homestay is professionally run by Me. Chandan and his team. The food here is very tasty and feels home cooked. This is place to chill out away from the city

We had a wonderful stay at Mugilu homestay during Christmas 2022. The family cottage was very clean and well furnished. Friendly and helpful staff. The food was very tasty. We had pre-booked our breakfast and dinner meals at a good price. Highly recommend to all.

The property is surrounded with a lot of greenery. Great place to stay if you have pets. Rooms were clean and service was good. Parking can be a little tricky if you have a bigger car. All in all had a good experience.

We had an amazing stay at Mugilu. We stayed for three nights and we were taken care of extremely well. The property is lush green and filled with coffee plants, trees and lots of birds. The owner, Chandan, and the caretaker Anand gave us a lot of information about the area and pointed us at activities to do nearby. There are also four friendly dogs that love to show you around.

Serene environment, quiet ambience, courteous staff, friendly dogs, chirping birds - some of many expressions that describe our stay at Mugilu. A 5-hour pleasant drive from Bangalore led us to this wonder. Being a nature and wildlife enthusiast, I find this place at par with the jungles I visited in Karnataka. Staying amidst the dense shrubs, plantation, the many wildlife including insects and birds add colour and glory to a vacation that was well spent. Thanks to Chandan and staff for being an excellent host.

Mugilu is a personal favourite. We always feel refreshed after a visit there. This was our 3rd visit to Mugilu and we had a really peaceful time. The mountains and valleys around were lush and it was a sight for sore eyes! This, along with the great food, playful dogs and the wonderful hosts, makes Mugilu a perfect getaway. Mugilu is an ideal setting for those who seek to connect and be with nature. Located a little outside the town of Sakleshpura, this humble abode is a haven to break free from the shackles of the stressful city life. Nestled amidst a coffee plantation are five cottages, a cute dining space, four friendly dogs, a small band of people who run the place efficiently and effortlessly. The homestay is inclusive of all three meals, pet friendly, and is close to several tourist attractions. The cottages are simple, clean, and have an old architectural charm to them. Their menu is curated with simple, delicious, and healthy dishes. But I would tip my hat towards the meadow that is literally just a 2-minute walk from the property. The view is breathtaking. One can spend an entire day just walking around the property. Also, do check out the small water stream further down the meadow which is a half hour walk from Mugilu. The whole way was picturesquely beautiful. Monsoon would be the best time to visit.

Had a lovely stay at Mugilu. It was raining the day we arrived. Even though I am not big fan of such weather, it gave a misty, dreamy vibe and much to my surprise I enjoyed it. The food was really delicious. Anand was generous with taking us to a stream near by for a few trips. While staying indoors was lovely, walking outside the property was really refreshing. One can witness absolutely gorgeous hills just a few steps away and a quick walk will take you down to a lovely stream. Highly recommend it.:)
PS: Does not appear ideal for older citizens or infants. Need to walk to the dinning area for food and it could get slushy when it rains. Also carry apt clothing and medication while stepping out. Leech bites are quite potent.

A beautiful little property in the midst of 10 acres of verdant organic coffee plantation. The couple that owns the place, Chandan and Sapna, have let nature reclaim much of the plantation, and as a result, the place is excellent for bird watching and photography. The homestay has 3 stilted cottages and 2 family rooms. The cottages are fairly large with a great balcony
overlooking the plantation/mini forest. A short hike outside the property takes you to a small stream and waterfall where you can have a dip in the cool, crystal clear waters. The food is excellent and Naresh, the chef, whips up tasty local delicacies. Chandan, the host, is a fine gentleman and makes sure your requests are taken care of. Anand, the manager, is also a great guy and is very helpful. This is a pet friendly property, having 5 dogs and a cat of their own. Guests are welcome to bring their furry friends along as long they don't bother the other guests. Overall, a great homestay at a very reasonable price that offers tasty home cooked food. So, if you prefer to stay amidst nature in its purest form, look no further.

Had a wonderful holiday with my family. The room was squeaky clean and very comfortable. Food was home style, tasty and good. Chandan, Anand and the rest of the staff were always attentive and helpful. They gave excellent suggestions on what else we could do in sakleshpur. The dogs were adorable - the cherry on top of the cake for our kids. Overall had a great time. Would definitely recommend

We had a lovely stay! The place is peaceful and comfortable. Our dog was so chill and happy there. The staff is very courteous and friendly too. The food is fresh and simple vegetarian with one chicken dish - but that's perfect to go light and enjoy long walks in and around the property. We are definitely planning another trip here.

Place is very pretty, staff were courteous, pet dogs at the place were very friendly. It's a bird friendly place. We got some exquisite birds like Malabar trogon, grey hornbill, yellownape, orange minivet and many more. The road to the place from Bangalore is excellent, 3-4 HR drive. Last hour drive is very scenic. It is like countryside with meadows outside and a small stream close-by. Overall nice place to relax, worth time spending away from your busy schedule.

Mugilu is a homestay of sorts.
The owner Mr. Chandan is a friendly host, the staff here are very accomodating and welcoming. The property is extremely peaceful and comfortable and indeed a nature lover's paradise.
Food here is by far the best I have had in any kind of homestay which did not bore me or get me craving for food from home/outside. Their honey and curd are the best:)
We inititally planned to stay there for 3 days and couldn't help extending our stay for a day more, that's how much we loved this space. We spotted the Mulberry Trogon here (which I hear is a bird watcher's dream - permenant resident of Mugilu!)
They're placed in a spot where every walk you take outside in any direction is a newer place to explore.

The stay was very amazing for us. Anand and Guddu bhaiya were amazing in serving us super food. The host is also very interactive and great to hear stories from him. He will guide for everything you need to see around. The property is amazing with many bird species.

Had a great 3nights-4 days vacation @mugilu.
Chandan (Host/Owner) ensured to take out time to talk to every guest and guided us on activities that we could engage in & around the property. Manager (Anand), Support staff (Guddu, Rakesh) - who never said no to any of our requests and served tasty hot food with a smile always, imalee & bubbly (dogs) were super entertainers and guided us on trails within the property. The chef just cooked some amazing meals (trust me, it was outstanding! We tried vegetarian + egg dishes).
Overall, highly recommend this place if you want to have some peaceful holiday with family/friends amidst nature and enjoy Sakleshpur weather & food. It's very worth the money spent!

It's a 10 acre coffee estate on the south of Sakleshpur with 5 spacious cottages (one of it is a big family room and all have options to add beds) with good bedding and blankets. Hot water available 24/7.
There is a nice community/common area where you can quietly read a book from the shelf with beautiful mountain and plantation view and enjoy the chirping of birds OR play some board games.
We also had the luck of spotting a green vine snake (flatbread snake) and malbar trogon at the property, our first time experience.
You also can buy organic Sakleshpur products like black pepper, honey, home made wine, ofcourse coffee powder at the property.

I loved staying at the place, it is very peaceful place and surrounding is very beautiful greenery.staffs members are very supportive, what ever you ask they are there to help you.

I think it is must visit kind of place.

We had a wonderful stay. It's perfect for people who prefer homestays. Mugilu is an ideal place for people to rediscover their own self and their dear ones. A mind blowing homestay referred by my friend.
We were there frm 25th to 27th June 2021 amidst the partially relaxed lock down to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I could not imagine that it wld be so wonderful prior to going there. To start with the conversation wid Chandan (owner) for the booking, he was crystal clear on the terms n conditions and the restrictions around lockdown. As we reached there he and his team made us feel very comfortable and guided us very well. The rooms are outstanding and well maintained wid the view of open grasslands by far and the thick jungle like feel withinnthe property. The food was mind blowing in every sense and on time. The care takers were outstanding and very helpful. To top things were 3 pets in d property called Gunda, Belli and Imily (pup). By far one of the best homestays I have been to by every means in last 10 yrs. Thanks to the team for making our spl occasion so memorable.

This place is just awesome, the host Mr Chandan is very welcoming and friendly. We visited to get the feel of monsoon of namma malenaadu and boy we did get everything we wished for. The cottages are very clean and cosy and the food is great home-cooked malnad cusine. This is a must visit for people planning to stay in and around sakleshpura and also a paradise for bird lovers.

It was a great experience at mugilu. Food was good, service was just perfect and view from the upper cottage was surreal.

We stayed in Mugilu for 5 nights and never felt of returning back to Bengaluru…especially in this pandemic and months of work from home, Mugilu is the best place for a work+vacation…
The food served is awesome and a walk in and around the homestay is very scenic…Mr. Chandan guided us in visiting the nearby spots which possibly only the local people would be aware off. They have 3-4 dogs and the younger one Emily is too friendly…The time spent with them was memorable. We would definitely recommend Mugilu for nature lovers and bird photographers.

Being nature photographers me and my wife much loved Mugilu property. The feel of a forest and birdwatching even from our cottage balcony is simply wonderful. The cottages are designed and maintained perfectly for the environment. Food was very very tasty. We loved the hospitality and behaviour of all the staff members.
