Absolutely beautiful and breadth taking Buddhist Monestry. As soon as you pass the Courtyard and enter through the greens arch that leads to the golden temple you are lost when you see the beauty and the height of the Monestry. There is so much peace and calm and greenery and beautiful flowers around the entire compound. Just walking around the monastery of sitting in a shaded place gives us a sense of peace and calm. This is a must visit place if you are around this area. There are stores that sell souvenirs as well as a canteen and cafeteria to have something to eat. Parking is also available outside the monastery compound.
We visited this buddhist monastery on a saturday afternoon and it was crowded. The place was very nice and must see if you are visiting coorg. Better to go on a weekday if you want to spend time peacefully. Shopping available in the temple premises and reasonable.
A peaceful and highly recommended place to visit when in Coorg. The namdroling monastery is located at kushalnagar in Coorg. The place is calm, serene and perfect for meditating. The chanting monks sound so peaceful. The place has a school, toilet and even eateries with Tibetan food available. Outside the monastery, there is a small Tibetan shopping complex. This place has clothes, magnets, statues, bags etc.
I visited here early morning, from the Hotel I stayed the previous day at Kusalnagar. This morning mist elevates the beauty of this place to next level. Even the breeze there brushes with its divinity. The architectural beauty is aslo alluring.
The place is very soothing with great sculptures and paintings adorning the walls. The statues are huge and magnificent. There are keep silence boards across but junta conveniently ignores those. Could be a much better experience without unwanted noise. There is a small market outside the temple where you can pick small memorabilia, gifts magnets etc.
Best place to experience Tibet in south. Very peaceful area and makes you feel that you are out of India. Monastery is well maintained with lots of flower plants and lawns. I bet you never saw such a big hibiscus flowers anywhere. Of course our typical visitors making noise and plugging the flowers hurts. Amble parking available and Tibetan shopping and food street are the nearby attractions. Police and volunteers are helping and guides for parking and traffic clearance.

This is the only monastery present in southern india. It is very beautiful and very well maintained. It is one of the main tourist attractions while visiting Coorg. It is spread across a huge area. It is a very peaceful complex. Over here we can get to experience a different religious and cultural heritage.
I visited Namdroling Monastery first in Feb 2019. The entire village itself is holy and gives you the feel of peace and calm.
- Throughout the place you can see the Buddhist colour flags tied at trees, buildings, poles etc. - There were scheduled prayers through out the day, if you are lucky enough, you can go ahead and sit in the prayers. - You are allowed to take photographs, but you are not allowed to talk or make any noise. - The place has a great parking near the monastery. - The shops inside the campus has Buddhist related items to buy.

This was a wonderful experience mentally and spiritually, even visually. Over all a tranquil feel. We meditated at this place, it would have been a regret if we did not visit this monastery. The people there are so quiet and they probably do not like taking photos but I couldn't resist taking them.beautiful evening we had.
Beautifully built and maintained monastery in Tibetan settlement area located off Mysore- Madikeri highway. It is really worth to visit this place, you get the feeling as you reached in Tibet or other Buddhist area. Entry is free. Paid parking facility is near by. There are some good restaurants too for authentic Tibetan dishes. (not every one is good)
This place is closed from a year since covid has started, locals said there are thousands of kids studying there due to which outsiders are not allowed so that they can be kept covid free. So kindly don't go even though you go they won't allow you inside
It looks like a beautiful place but we were not able to go inside as its closed until further notice because of covid. You can shop for small artifacts near the monastery and even enjoy Tibetan food.
Situated at 34 km distance from Coorg district, Namdroling Monastery is a popular spiritual centre and also among the best place in Coorg. This place is amongst Mysore’s largest teaching centres where you learn every aspect of Tibetan Buddhism. Amongst locals, this shrine is famous as the Golden Temple. The architecture of Namdroling Monastery is as attractive as its spiritual significance. You will witness some finest quality architectural and artwork styles. The elegance of the temple tower blends perfectly with the ornate outer walls. Finally, there are beautiful murals to add the finishing touch.
Visited on 29th Dec and it was closed indefinitely due to covid.don't waste your time, skip this for now.request the authorities to put a notice about temple closure on the highway, so that tourists can avoid travelling 3-4 kms inside unnecessarily.
Just feel the peace once you enter the monastery. Nicely maintained. Highly recommended. Just don’t fall trap to the sovereign stores, you should have good bargaining skills as they ask for ridiculous prices.
The kind of place that gives you peace of mind. The place is spread across a large swathe of land in the beautiful town of Bylakuppe. You reach here and find tranquility in overdose, for people from the cities this works as an ideal getaway. The beautifully manicured garden leading to the sanctum are a sight to behold.
The wave of serenity which one experiences stepping into the main temple and pray area is a thing to cherish for an entire lifetime. The monks are very friendly and help with any kind of queries, an attendant at the shoe depository station provides you with all kind of answers for anything that you need to know.
Heading out of the main sanctum is a little town with beauty in abundance, from lush green fields growing supari, rice, sugarcane and spinach the town of Bylakuppe is very mesmerising, I don't think barring a few hours in the afternoon it experiences any kind of discomfort due to heat. Please make a trip at the earliest.
The place itself makes us feel like we are in Tibet. We weren't able to get into the temple. As I visited during the time of Covid Pandemic (27 December 2020). No one were allowed to get into the temple. But had a lot to see throughout the way. Tibetan Culture way flying in throughout the way. The schools, people, shops and everything had a Tibetan Touch.
