I have been to NIMHANS Bangalore only once that was during covid lockdown time.i was under severe depression and anxiety due to some personal problems in my life. I was completely lost and unable to do anything.since i was not getting sleep for days, i booked and visited the hospital late at night and the lady staff of the hospital didnt even allow me to meet the duty doctor. She said what i was going through wasnt a serious issue, n she was pointing me to other patients who wr lying down on the bed there.i had a really bad experience there.i urged several times that i wanted to meet the duty doctor and thats why i had travelled late night by booking a cab from all the way far.but, they just chased me off.i felt they evaluate a person from what they see externally / from outward point of view.they dont see and understand a patients real struggle what the person is going on from within (mentally). They sent me off by telling me to come during day time and stand in the queue.the staffs and doctors dont treat patients well according to my personal experience. Further i consulted a psychiatrist in some other clinic and from then on i am on antidepressants for clinical depression and anxiety (from 2019 till now, today its 22nd sep 2023)

Best hospital in India because I haven't seen a better hospital than this in my whole life. Very skilled doctors and nurses. Very cheap treatments and I just spent Rs 10 to Rs 20 for my doctor visit.

One and only of its kind.you have various departments which deal with different sorts of Brian infection and diseases.one of the best psychiatry centre in Asia.one of the oldest mental health hospital in the country.

Also they have various medical courses with special emphasis on brain diseases and mental health along with mental wellness.

NIMHANS also have integrative medicine department, which deals with as name suggests multiple approach to treat the diseases, which includes such as yoga and traditional medicines.

Worst experience here and world's first hospital that is closed on festive days. Horrible here. We were asked to come on Tuesday and today the hospital is closed due to Gurunanak Jayanthi. We have a patient in critical situation and there in emergency they said they can't do anything and asked us to come on next Tuesday. World worst hospital we have ever seen which says they can give treatment to a neurology patient who is in crucial situation. Security is non responsive.thinking they are superhero. Worstest hospital ever.

Worst hospital experience I have ever experienced, they wanderd me for 5 months for spinal surgery, and at last they left it. Wasted my 6 months time and 30k rupees.

We had worst experience, we have visited for my mother's MRI scanning, we have waited for 3 days. We used to reach hospital everyday by 6am and had to wait in long queue. At last we commonly used to listen is "Come next day". And same will repeat for next day as well. After such long wait we got tokens to get scanned.but the guy who controls queue system used to take money from people and allow them inside even if their toke number too far, if you question about that they will scold Iike anything, Only Money matters there. Token systems are just to showcase. But if you pay some money u will get pass through all gates without waiting in any queues. If you people are really conserned about poor people, please do take necessary action on this.

This place should not be called a hospital.people will get more sick after visiting this horrible place.staffs are completely illiterate guys.they don’t care at all about any patient and just want to finish the shift and go out of his place.

Apparently kolkata based medical college, the oldest in the country is better than nimhans in neurological surgeries.nimhans doesn't want to take risk for surgery and let's patient suffer.however the govt funded cmc in kolkata takes risks.this is what makes nimhans a bad experience for me.plus.the way of conduct of docs in nimhans is horrible.they don't ask instead scold for coming there.the calcutta medical college docs are so good in behavior.the calcutta medical college has more patient load than nimhans.yet they are so patient.

You need to be in line at 5am if you want to be within the first 50 batch to consult a junior doctor who will arrive at 9: 30am. In 5 minutes (I have actually counted) he will write down he's professional opinion based on what you said then you have wait approximately 2 hours for your spot with the senior doctor who will not look at you or ask you a single question he will read what the junior has written down in the 5 minutes and write you a prescription. If you want a follow up simple increase your current medicine dosage by 10mg it's all that you would get anyway. Consultation fee is ₹10. First visit you will need to pay for a card around ₹20. The only benefit you can expect is the crowd that will tell you your not alone. This institute has been rated India's best psychiatric clinic because of equipment and affordable price.

Don't go that hospital if it is urgent for surgery thay give three months time for surgery non local people please don't go we don't know that language for op you have to wait up to 6 to 7 hourswaste of money

One of the worst hospital.the doctors and nurses act as friendly but actually they were acting.these fellows just experiment on us to gain there degree with high marks. College professors are also encouraging them indirectly. From past five years as per there prescription I have taken fits tablet though I am not having fits. Simply from past five years I struggling to live life.but there is no improvement.according to me These hospital is a big shame to India.

Worst and pathetic. My mother brother took me their as I was little tensed during exams and my mother's brother took me their and Mahesh R Gowda consulted me and prescribed Nexito 12 mg and he is not clear with what he telling. Sometimes he told chemical imbalance in brain, sometimes bipolar disorder. Sometimes he told it's a physical problem like BP, you need to take medicines throughout life and sometimes he told it's psychriatic breakdown. This doctor spoiled my normal life

I personally had very bad experience. Few doctor's behavior is way too rude. Ignorance and arrogance can be seen in few Jr Doctor as well Sr doctor. They treat patient and their relative as slave. They talk in very harsh manner and I was also told that I can go somewhere else and get the treatment done. Crowd management is very poor. No social distancing or any Covid protocol maintained inside campus.

We went here for my father-in-law, we had very bad experience. First thing is about junior Doctors, these doctors treats Kannada talking patients very nicely, we’re as for other languages people, they will shout and force to talk in Kannada only, very local feeling fellows, I am wondering how they become doctors.

Senior doctors are bit ok, but they only treat patients who has non sever symptoms, if they suspect severe symptoms all they will hide and nothing will tell.

My personal experience is my father-in-law admitted here for 1 week for nuro treatment, doctors says all is ok everything is fine said after week and urgently discharged from hospital, after 1 week he is paralyzed. I believe they hide this information and they were not told us.

Neurology OPD, one of the doctors we happen to meet for my father was very IMPATIENT! I felt like doctors along with everyone of us should first learn patience, social behaviour, civility and decency.

A really bad govt hospital for Paranoid Schizophrenia/mental illness. We took my sister to the emergency because she was psychotic and untreated for over 1year - discontinued medication. We showed them all her medical records from NIMHANS. They separated me from her and then let her wander off - we DON'T KNOW where she is currently. Somewhere in Bangalore.

Understand one simple thing: NIMHANS is a govt hospital which means they work with the police (who DON'T forcibly commit wandering lunatics because it's not profitable) and the judiciary (who take years to hear cases because that's very profitable) and the Army who sit behind their high walls.

Instead of wasting time at NIMHANS - their only role is to extract money from the parents of the ill in the form of referrals to private quacks/Unnati - INR5k is the going rate; find yourself a good GP close by!

Consulted for Ayurvedic treatment, low quality doctors, looks they were doctor on paper but not in reality. I explained about my problem, they were not able to understand.finally doctor gave medicine for some other disease.

May be I met junk doctor in premium hospital.

UTTER WASTE AND UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE. Have waited for 6 hours with my 3 year old son and found his name is not in the register. Staff has very laid back and careless attitude. These people need lessons on manners and work ethics. PLEASE AVOID coming to NIMHANS if you are planning to visit this place from outside of Bangalore or other states.

Probably the best government hospital visited by me till date. Like the entire city, the entrance will welcome you with green trees on your both side. Walk for a while and take a left turn to reach the OPD. Then after screening you will be referred to the OPD and then to the concerned department (Neuro or Psychiatry).
Now the best part are the doctors. They will give you sufficient time to explain your concerns. If possible, they will provide you the number of local doctor.

Dangerous hospital. My parents started taking me forcibly to Nimhans at age 11. The dangerous doctors gave me dangerous drugs. Today, my life is destroyed. My teeth became yellow, my body became weak and remains weak as I didn't develop muscles due to psychiatric medicines, I dropped out of 12th grade, threw away a lot of money, and failed completely in personal life. Because of Nimhans, my family and relationships were destroyed completely. If you never want your, your family's, your child's life to be destroyed like mine, never visit Nimhans.

Actually i had terrible experience. With my father got brain stroke and took him to nimhans, with so much of confidence on the hospital. Their response to the patient was very poor, finally they declared that they can't treat him. We lost my father after 3 days. Please don't keep this hospital as first chouce

Best Hospital for Psychiatry in India. Best doctors, Cost - Near to negligible for middle class, Best Hygiene, Best Nurses.
As it's virtually more than affordable, expect crowd. But, they do very nice crowd management. Both below poverty line - Free & above poverty line - Nominally Charged are treated here.
They don't fleece you like private hospitals. Doctors are very dedicated. If you are looking for the best & most affordable treatment - Go here. But, don't crib about the crowd - Hospitals are supposed to be taking care of every segment of the society - That's exactly what they are doing.
In all, with the cleanliness they have - they are worth 6-stars as they are virtually doing service to the society. So, treat them with respect.
By the way, my bill had No Nursing Charges & No Doctor Charges & of course no bedding or gloves charges which private hospitals fleece us with. Only the treatment & room charges.
Separate wards for below poverty line & above poverty line - You can even get a private room - but have to apply with doctor's signature.
Understand if they are doing service to so many people, treat them with respect & patience and you will get back the same.

The staff in this hospital doesn't know how to behave with females.they are very harsh and one of the staff in the entrance of opd misbehaved with a lady n pushed her because she doesn't know where to follow the queue.

My mom had a tumor in her brain and if it weren't for this hospital, we don't know what would have happened to her. The hospital is considered to be the best in its category in India.

It's very very crowded. People from all over the country are being treated in this hospital. Also unlike the private hospital counterparts, medical care is very cheap here. So obviously you'll have to stand in very long queues and wait for a long time. I see a lot of people complaining about this fact. If you don't wanna wait and if you want world class ambience you should go to a reputed private hospital and get your bank account drained.

The doctors in here are very dedicated and are highly skilled. They do their jobs very religiously. After getting my mom treated in this hospital I've a newfound respect for the whole doctors community.

The best when it comes to diagnosis and management of rare diseases and disorders involving the nervous system. Highly skilled doctors, clean environment at highly subsidised costs. The hospital caters to anywhere between 2000-3000 OPD consultations on a daily basis. They workflow is based on purely first come first serve basis. There are operational challenges when it comes to handling large inflow of patients from different walks of life who belong to different socio economical groups of the society but the hospital does a fantastic job in managing it with their limited resources and manpower. Tireless service and patience of the resident doctors, support staff and senior doctors is commendable. Highly recommend the hospital if you care for your health and well being beyond the comfort and luxury of a private hospital.

I think Doctor is no cast & no religious. Doctor when get certificate this certificate for national. So i think doctor should known minimum our national language.
This is my heartly request to government of india when they give final certificate to doctor please should be judge minimum knowing our national language.

After waiting for whole day, doctor responded in frustrated way.

If something like this continues without having checks and balances from management, hospital will loose reputation and faith.

Treatment is good. But the hospital is very crowded as it is one of the best hospitals in India. We have to stand in queue for hours to see the doctor even if you have online appointment. On your first visit you will be allowed to see the junior doctor only. After that junior doctor will refer to the main doctor.

In terms of service offered by nimhans is great, but people are waiting in long queue just to pay ₹20 registration! No digital payment facility when asked! Had to stand for 2 hrs! In terms of care and treatment it's the best, but still they need to ease this hassle of long queue employees insisting on taking only cash, no card payments, even though there are boards saying nimhans accepts card payments. Please make the easy for family who come from far!

NIMHANS is the premier mental health centre in India. It serves the poorest of the poor in the best way. People who are rejected from every where and who have no solutions to their problems come this place and find peace and meaningful treatment here with minimal cost. The present director is a long time physician here and he has an MD and a DSc. A specialist in yogic transformative treatments Dr Gangadhar is a very pleased personality and build an institution to higher levels.

Patients please dont be impatients.it is just a "mental hospital". If you have neurological issues you will become a patient.

Patience is the key. There are lot of people coming from all over India and hence it takes more time to wait in the queue. If you are planning for an OPD appointment, make sure that you are ready to spend your entire day here. The quality of the treatment given here is worth the wait. Make sure you are carrying entire medical history in printed format if you are consulting for first time.

For those who are planning to stay and take treatment, there is Infosys Dharmashala (₹400/day) and Lakshmi Mittal Home (₹200/day) inside the campus itself. But these require recommendations from RM office and also have 10-15 days waiting period. That recommendations can be get only by the advise of the doctor you are consulting.

Best Rehabilitation Centre in India! A definite try if you are on to second opinion.

Had the worst of experiences with this unit head doctor. She is such a shame to this great institution.

Took my wife who needed an urgent major surgery to nimhans. We waited 6 hrs and finally met her. Without any regards to her duty and without any humanity she turned as away. She said "Since you are from tamilnadu you should use local resources"

Such a disgrace to NIMHANS. High time someone reminded her that it's a national govt funded institute run with tax payer money. Every Indian has a right to be treated here.
