Nijagal Betta

This trek is nearby Bangalore. Location cannot be reached properly if you've not gone even once. There is like a railway track which you've to cross after parking the bike and go inside the forest and yet you wouldn't find the route. After going inside you'll find a way which will lead you to the hill. It's around 2km trek which will take around 30 mins to reach. The view from the top is amazing and fresh air and Breeze makes your day.

Located Very Close to shivgange, but if you're traveling from public transport you won't get any bus to there and for auto from dobbaspet they'll charge around 200rs only for 2kms, so plan your trip accordingly:)

Serene and interesting place to visit for short hiking and camping. Trek up to the top and find a temple located in a cave. There's ample space to pitch your tent.loved the place!

Tunnel is filled with water and it’s a bit of off road make sure you got the higher displacement vehicle before planning to visit this place

Peaceful place. Trekking distance is very small around 30-45 mins of ascend is enough to reach the top. Early morning sunrise will be good.
Around 45 from the center of Bangalore city. Last 1.5kms is slippery off-road. Need to cross small stream below the railway line.

It's a bit confusing to get to the location of the starting point and that to during the rainy season. Need to cross the railway track to reach the point.

Anyway the trekking was moderate and overall experience was realy very good.

Nijagal betta is about 55 kms from Bangalore. As soon as you reach Dobbespet, you will find this hill to the left. One can park the car by the road. Bikes can be taken closer to the base of the hill. The climb is quite easy and can be completed in 35‑40 minutes. One can spot the famous Shivagange hills from the peak. This can be a good ‘Sunrise’ trek.

One of the nearest trekking place to Bangalore, about 60Km. There’s a fort and stacks of Huge rocks on the peak where you get nice view. Explore these areas and carry water and food stuff. Don’t throw garbage there.

Nijagal Betta is a hillock located near Dobbaspet town of Tumkur and also known as Siddara Betta. The ruins of ancient temples and fort serves as a certain landmark, where you will be able to spot the hill from the Pune-Bangalore National Highway. The trek starts with the mud road continuing towards huge boulders which are ideal for rock climbing and ends at the mosque on top. This hill represents the religious unity as there is a Hanuman temple and Dargha where locals visit and worship regularly. Reaching the peak at midnight, you will be able to spot some small ponds and the view of city lights and cool breeze welcome you get relaxed and pass some time around.

The scenery here is AMAZING especially during sunset hours. We went all the way to the peak and it is a little dangerous but not that hard. Would definitely recommend y'all to go here atleast once. Be careful of the weird swimming pool looking pond in the middle doe. I've heard it was something similar to quick sand. I'm not sure cos I didn't try going in OBVIOUSLY but yeaah.

Beautiful place. Very calming sight. Blissful environment. Good spot to trek. It's clean and tidy. I hope people visiting these places do not litter the Spot. There is a Temple and Darga side by side.

A beautiful place located around bangalore. One needs to trekk about half n hour or 45mintues to reach the top. It has a beautiful view from top. You can see the highway and railway track which adds an beauty to the view

Location is very good.but people make it really nasty in the name of religion thy do Pooja and throw clothes here and there.need a lot of cleaning n tidy work and govt has to work on this and make it a beautiful Destination very quick access from Bangalore

Beautiful place but moderate climbing and natural cave is there last strech is bit difficult no steps and the fort is in good condition

Less crowded and a very simple trek.
Ideally a trek for beginners.
Speciality about this Hill is that you will find few Dargahs and temples together
Worth the view you get it once you reach the top. Beware of monkeys.don't carry anything In covers
And kindly don't throw the plastic and bottles

Beautiful place which is 15km from tumkur, beauty of nature from one side view and other side full city developed you can see from top of the hill

Lovely short trip out of Bangalore. Best to park on highway and walk under or across the railway line. Streams run through both underpasses. Just ok fr 2 wheels or a 4*4 is good. Saloons and normal cars must avoid

A nice trek to the top of the hill near Dabbaspet; it's around 60 kms from Bangalore. Scenic, fresh air, and a nice getaway from the city life

Important: Don't forget to carry water. Wear a nice pair of shoes

Ther are many ruin of hindu temples.

Only sad part is the illegal construction of dargha which is no relevance here. These people encroach wherever possible.as usual uncleaniness because of them all around this premise.

What the authorities doing. Demolish this concrete illegal dargha.

Nijagal Betta is located just 50Km around Bangalore, and about a couple of kms from Tumkur.  Nijagal Betta trek is not quite a popular destination for trek planners, but for non-planners, its one of the best known weekend place from Bangalore.

A mid-seventeenth century fort, build by Chikkadevaraya Wadiyar, adorns this hillock. Here in Nijagal Betta, its believed that a war was fought between Hyder Ali and Peshwa Madhav Rao.

Indeed, the Nayakas (or Pallegars) of Chitradurga originally descended from hunter tribes that inhabited the mountainous and densely-thicketed regions of Chitradurga.

The earliest inscription available  is of Hoysala period 1288 AD. Nijagal was a prominent town in Vijayanagara and Mysore dynasties. There are inscriptions which mention the donations made by Mysore Wodeyars to the temples of Nijagal. According to an inscription at this place, the present structure of the fort was built in 1698 by Bilugile Dasarajaiah during the reign of Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar.

Good for hill climbing, best time for visit is july to December. Carry snaks and water. Nice view from peak. Will have fun if u go with more fnds

Beginners level trekking. We can reach top with one hour. There is no shop, so take water, energy drink and snack with you, humble request don't throw waste around, no one is maintaining, monkeys are there, so take care of belongings. Bit isolated in evening in weekdays so better go in morning where enough people will be there.

Beautiful trek spot near Bangalore.
60kms from the city and I would suggest you go in the morning for a peaceful trekking experience.
It took approximately 30 mins for us to reach the temple which is on top.

And yes, there will be lot of monkeys on the way, keep your valuable safe.

This place is also called as Siddara betta by the locals. Beginner level trek with all greens around. Very closeby to the city Bangalore and also the climb hardly takes 30-45mins.
You climb a fleet of stairs and you shall end up at a beautiful cave temple of Siddeshwara swamiji behind which there is a Dargah.

Here it might get a little tricky. Just adjacent to a small pond you have to climb a rock to reach the peak. The rock might be slippery. Once you have climbed the top it takes you to a beautiful summit filled with gigantic rocks forming several shelters and can enjoy the view of Dobaspet village. Make sure you carry some snack and water with you.

This trek is suitable for both the sunrise and sunset view. We were lucky to witness a rainy shower at the top but we found difficult to get down as the rocks were slippery due to rain.
