Nirvana Kutira Home Stay

Let me start with the positives first.
1) The location is simply superb.
2) The rooms are maintained well, the homestay (except the kitchen) is maintained well and clean.
3) Taste of food whatever we could get was good.
Now the negatives:
1) Hospitality is at the lowest I have seen in any other hotel/homestay/ even guest houses.
This maybe because the owner was not in town.but in hospitality industry, being courteous, pleasant talk are must.there was NO ONE in the guest house other than 2 ladies who were managing the kitchen.so if I needed an additional pillow, I need to ask the cook.
2) Kitchen is not clean
3) The head cook was definitely not in good mood.don't know why, but we felt we were a burden for them.

I want to go back to this place when the owner is in town and see that I get a better experience.because I genuinely feel, this is a good homestay, but I was unlucky to get a bad deal.

Calm and spacious homestay for family. Special mention about the delicious vegetarian home food. Being homestay don't expect service like hotel/resort. Really enjoyed the stay. Price is bit at the upper end but worth it who prefer to stay away from bursting city life.

The surroundings are stunning, you are right in the jungle in a very beautiful and natural settings. This is definitely a good place if you love nature. But this place is overpriced, given the shabby service. There are no real waiters, you have to tell the staff to clean your room if you want to, they require from you punctuality for the meals but they start with delay. The food was ok but nothing spectacular.

Good hospitality, quiet and calm place. Very yummy veg food. Definitely recommend for families esp who is looking for pure veg food. There is an ancient and old Shiva temple in 100mts as well to visit. We had a pleasant stay of 2 days here.

Visited nirvana kutira with family had a wonderful stay. Very delicious freshly prepared food. Served hot. Cook Asha is amazing.friendly host.
Had a memorable stay

Excellent hospitality and good ambience.the food was excellent as it was served hot and fresh.the rooms were neatly maintained and the staffs were obliging. Overall a memorable experience.

Wonderful location admist lush green coffee estate. Finger licking vegetarian malnad delicacies were really amazing. Soft spoken host, was very sweet nd cooperative throughout our stay and gave us practical itenary. People looking for veg options i highly recommend nirvana kutira.

This place is too good but facility is not good, veg food is too good but one this if driver came with u no rooms for drivers no toilet rooms no bathroom it's totally bad homesaty

Wonderful homestay with large and well maintained rooms at approachable location from Chikmagalur town. Very yummy vegetarian food.
Nirvana mutt next to the property has history of its own dating back 800 years.

Couple of suggestions:
1) Kindly have hot water mixer tap in bathroom sink
2) Timely availability of breakfast

Serene place.
Everything is so minimalistic.the amenities, the staffing, the add on facilities.all.
The food is a simple spread and very tasty veg.
The surrounding 50 acres of coffee plantation adds charm to the place.
The peak of the Mulyangiri hill is visible from this place.
The temple and the mutt within the premises adds to the purity of the place.
If you are looking for a stay that allows you to explore your own self, then i strongly this place.

As the homestay is present in the middle of a coffee estate it's a very peaceful place to go and have a get away for a weekend. It's present on the foothills of Mullayanagiri. It's a vegetarian place next to the Nirvana Swamy mutt. You can also learn about the culture of the place with some excellent coffee here.

While planning a weekend getaway to Chikmagalur, one of our friends suggested that we consider Nirvana Kutira for our stay. When we spoke to Ajay (he owns the homestay), we felt assured by his cordial and forthright manner of providing details. The homestay itself is very serene, beautiful, well-designed (it's designed by Ajay himself, along with his wife), and very clean. It is packed away in a lush green coffee plantation and has a view of Muliyanagiri.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food is absolutely amazing; the spread is completely vegetarian, and the taste is very authentic.very much like home-cooked food.
Nirvana Kutira's location too is advantageous - it is located very close to the Kaimara checkpost, which is the point from where we get access to Muliyanagiri, Baba Budanagiri, Manikyadhaara and other important tourist locations.
The Nirvana Swami Mattha just next to this property too is worth a visit. The homestay also offers some activities such as plantation walks, bird watching, bonfire night and a visit to an approx 400 year old ancestral home that belongs to Ajay's family. Within close reach are 2 lesser known gems - Hirekolale Lake and Deviramma Temple.
The staff are cordial and well mannered. Ajay and his wife are gracious hosts and always ensure you are well taken care of. They also helped us plan our itinerary.
Also since there are only 4 cottages, it does not feel overcrowded at any point. You get to enjoy the quiet and peace around you.
All in all, this homestay is definitely worth considering, if you are planning a visit to Chikmagalur.

The home stay is located amidst beautiful coffee plantation. They have very tasty good quality food and clean rooms. The place is very kid friendly with freshly home cooked meal great for the kids and ample space for them to play. The staff are friendly and courteous. There is a beautiful bonfire place to enjoy with friends and family. Also, morning walks through the plantation is heavenly and their freshly ground coffee is to die for. Excellent host and a wonderful homely ambiance.

It is a beautiful picturesque location with coffee estates all around. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff very friendly and cater to your every need. I would suggest that the family come here to enjoy quality family time and the clean wonderful nature

Right from our check-in to check-out, we were treated very amiable.
The food here needs a special mention. Pure vegetarian delight and my kids loved every bite and polished the plates of their homemade food.
The stay was very pleasant and thanks to the owners.
The presence of a temple nearby feels divine and the vibes are something to look forward to again.

Ambience, food, hospitality.everything was up to the mark.
Absolutely loved this place and would look forward to comeback here without a second thought.

Cottages are big & cleanly maintained. Food is delicious.
But very poor service. Owner doesn't stay in house nor they have any supervisor to keep tab on the arrangements.kitchen is managed by 2-3 ladies who also needs to take care of other arrangements which they do not show much interest. When the property is let out for commercial purpose visitors will expect the best service. To mention fewinstances; early morning there was no water in the bathroom & owner didnot answer the call nor respond to calls. My aged father had to get out of the cottage in the chilling cold to call the kitchen person to look into the matter. Secondly the geyser was not working in one of the cottages, we noticed & reported this to the owner when we checked in. They didnot bother to resolve it and the 3rd day when we were about to check out after raising my voice; the owner fixed it but hardly we could get 1 bucket of hot water. Since all the 4 cottages were occupied by my family; we could use another cottage for bathing purpose.else it would be difficult to bath using the cold water.
Another instance; when we returned to the cottage on 2nd day after site seeing it was around 6.30pm and it was pitch dark. The whole facility was fully dark except small light in the kitchen. We had to use mobile torch to get into the facility to switch on the outside lights; in this process my niece felled down since it was dark she missed a step.
They need to hire a supervisor or room boy to manage all these instead of only depending on the kitchen staff.

Just passing along my kind gratitude and gesture towards a great vacation and some blissfully time in the coffee estates of nirvana kutira, Chikmagalur. <br/>I'm one of those lucky persons to have booked under such a peaceful homestay under such high demands during the pre-monsoon season. <br/>I highly recommend this place for all nature enthusiast and the food is delicious being exclusive served with vegetarian food. <br/>Cheers for some good days and thank you@nirvana kutira for such an environment. Wonderful place to stay with friends or family. Cottages are really neat, clean and resigned wonderfully, location connects to famous places in Chikmagalur easily. We can say this homestay is at foothills of Mullayangiri. Food here is awesome and we totally enjoyed. Extra benefit is cottage is surrounded by scenic place and wonderful environment. Quiet, calm and rejuvenating. Will come back again

This is pleasant location, ideal get-away, humble people support and excellent food / snacks + coffee. Surrounded by beautiful coffee and other vegetation suitable for healthy walk, eye-warming refreshing greenery. This home-stay gives you utmost relaxation.

This property is located in the serene atmosphere of coffee plantation at the foot hills of mullayanagiri hills. Well maintained rooms.vegetarian food.we had a pleasant stay

There is no caretaker at the place. An indifferent woman cook appears during meal times and disappears at other times. We had requested for cottages with least steps since we had very senior citizens with us which was not honoured.
They had great difficulty every time we had to go out. Window curtains and blankets had lot of dust. Host appears only once in a day to inform about rules.
No requests are honoured. We do not have option of checking out early if we do not like the place since whole money is collected in advance. No camp fire as posted by them. But still we decided to skip two stereo type meals and get out.
We were greatly disappointed.

Had been to nirvananirvana couple of weeks before, i must say one of the best homestays i have been.very spacious n clean rooms, amazing location, even beds are of good quality.it was just home away home.we really enjoyed our stay.even suppoting team of nirvanakutira are very good, great veg food, delicious n tasty mainly freshly prepared. Owner are very friendly n very humble. Thanks nirvanakutira, we had a great holiday.we are looking for many more holidays in nirvanakutira with family n friends.

Not a great place. Very small and not at all kid friendly. Pictures of the place are receiving. Also, the place is not well managed. We had to cut short our stay as we did not like the place.

If you're looking for serene, pleasant environment and some mouth watering delicious vegetarian dishes then this place is made for you.
10 on 10, highly recommended and it has its own aura and really mesmerizing.

Great ambience and great hospitality by the owners of this place.
This is surrounded by coffee estates and a historic temple right next to it is something that you won't come across elsewhere.
Took a couple of pictures and they look more beautiful in real.
It is surrounded by some exquisite flowers.

Good place with Amazing hosts. Very healthy home food to add on top of it. In about 300 meters you can visit heritage house which has a mutt and temple.

Extremely fortunate to have booked here with my friends last month. We had some amazing time here followed by excellent vegetarian food.
Located in the heart of coffee estates, you feel connected with the nature.
The presence of temple in that serene place was like an icing on the cake.
Owners were courteous and friendly.
Great place to visit during spring as you'll be drowned in that beautiful sea of flowers all around you.

Nirvana Kutir is very strategically located 'inside the forest' yet very close to the town.

The rooms are spacious and very tastefully done. The serene calm and jungle sound sorrounding the cottages invites one for yogic introspection.

For vegetarians (like me), it makes it all the more attractive as pure veg food is served. The food has taste and variety and something to suit all tastes. For example the breakfast had bread butter as an option along with aloo paratha while main serving was local malnad veg food. The owners take great initiative of understand your food habits and need to plan meals accordingly.

I have Airtel and voice was working while data was not.

In summary, if you want a calm, peaceful stay with digital detox in sights, you cannot go wrong with a stay here.
