I recently dined at a this restaurant that claimed to offer authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, and I have some mixed feelings about the experience. The ambience of the place is decent, but it didn't fully capture the essence of Maharashtrian culture as I had expected.
One aspect that left me somewhat dissatisfied was the service. The staff members seemed slow and often had trouble understanding our requests, which resulted in a less enjoyable dining experience.
When it comes to the taste of the food, it was just okay, falling short of the authentic Maharashtrian flavors they had promised. The saving grace was their modak, which was exceptionally tasty. Their Bhaji was good, puranpoli was good a bit dry phulka was good. However, the daal rice was a letdown, suitable only for those who prefer a sweetened version. They were quite generous with the ghee, though.
My biggest concern was the pricing. The restaurant was on the expensive side, which made it hard to justify the overall experience. While it was an okay dining experience, it certainly didn't feel worth the money.
In conclusion, the restaurant offers an okayish experience with some hits and misses. It might be worth a visit if you're in the mood for modak, but keep in mind that it falls short of delivering the authentic Maharashtrian taste it claims to offer. The slow service and high prices make it a less appealing option overall. But ya you can give it a try once.
My exploration for having my native Marathi cusine in banglore goes on. This place could not end this exploration. My expectations were too high with this place as my wife and I have visited Pune outlet. The ambience in this outlet is closed space with no ventilation, they have made an attempt to get a desi touch to exterior. There are 2 style of seats bhartiya baithak, and the standard table chair (mostly occupied). As a Maharashtrian I felt the rates are too high for simple food. Coming to food, I ordered Kothimbir wadi, bhakri shev bhaji combo and bhakri patodi. As a consumer i expect taste to validate the pricing mentioned in the menu card but unfortunately both are contradictory. As basic thing as a bhakri was not well cooked and authentic to taste. My review definitely roams around the disappointment of taste and unmatched pricing of basic food. I would prefer other options, that are "gavrani" for misal and for heavy brunch and other Marathi restaurant in aecs layout rather than sacrificing my money and taste buds.
Ambience 2/5 Food 2/5 Service 3/5 Pricing 1/5 Overall 2/5
The restaurant theme is good and welcoming. Maharashtrian menu is adapted and commendable. If you go for maharashtrian main course it is a complete waste. You can only opt for snacks items as they are good. The team doesn’t give prompt service so be ready to wait and yes puran poli are served cold and expired. The ghee utensil offered with puran poli is even not refilled. I literally had to use the puran poli to clear the leftover ghee in the utensil. The owner has to look into this restaurant now as things are not going the maharashtrian cuisine way.
Nice ambience and wonderful service with friendly authentically dressed staff. Smiling Jayanti at the counter was cherry on top. Authentic Maharashtrian food. Misal pav was good but spicy. Mango piyush and shrikhand lassi was yummy
Tasty food, had ordered spicy Pithla Bhakri. Ambience is traditional and customers can sit cross legged on cushions. Price slightly on expensive side but delicious food and quality of service justifies that. Will definitely visit again.
Authentic maharashtrian cuisine. Vegetarian restaurant. Tucked up on the first floor with ample of seating. Can't handle large crowd though. Curtious staff. Only challenge is you need to leave your footware prior to entering restaurant. Food is awsome. Lot of options to choose from.
It was nostalgic having authentic vidarbha thali which can only be felt by your taste buds Awesome food, great ambience, warm service Must visit for maharashtrian foodies
Experience was excellent. From ambiance to sitting arrangement it was good. Nd food was delicious. If u r from Maharashtra n struggling for tasty food must visit this place.
We loved the ambience and food service and quality of foord is really good! Ghar k khana wali feeling hai.its for those who loves maharashtrian cuisine! must try dish is patvadi, sol kadi, kokam sharbat in welcome drink! it is bit expensive!
The ambience is warm and welcoming The hosts are great There is a traditional seating as well.
The menu has dozens (literally) of varities to choose from And each one looks delicious.
Kothimbir wadi was delicious and definitely recommended. There is a different thali for all 7 days of the week.
It's available untill 3: 30 PM only though. I had the zunkha bhakar combo and it reminded me of the authentic maharashtrian cuisine that I had in Nashik.
There are many authentic dessert available. Needless to say the puranpoli was mouth watering.
There was a function scheduled, I guess they also host parties or small functions at the restaurant premises. A 5 star from me for food, ambience, hospitality. Although the rates a bit higher, they are absolutely justified.
One of my favourite place. Nagpuri taste. Very thoughtfully curated menu giving various options to choose from. The sit-down arrangement gives that pangat feeling.
Authentic Maharashtrian food for the food lovers! What are you waiting for. Go there for yummy cuisines, courteous and polite staff and it's hygeine. Overall a great place for family to enjoy their time and mouth watering delicacies
If you're a South Indian and haven't tasted Maharashtrian food before, you won't like it.dal was watery, khadi was watery (no khadi). U can try once and decide for urself
Food excellent, quantity good for the price, ambience options nice and homely.overall good lunch/dinner time. Only issue I faced - the gpay and paytm both didn't work, restaurant managers to correct this soon.
Being in KARNATAKA they don't have a least sence to have board or menu in KANNADA. You could find KANNADA in some small corner totally neglected. Moreover, filled with so called marathi. Don't know why these people come here to dominate. If they have such respect to their language they could have stayed in their places right. When it comes to price, we payed more than what they deserved
We'll, this review is for the Thali on Sunday! Cost - ₹499+GST full meal, Maharashtrian style (they charged 499/- even though menu card read it as 399/-)
Ambience - very good
Overall Spread - below par (very limited range) Starters - very good (Misal, sabudana vada, Palak pakoda) Main course - Just average (phulka with dal and some pumpkin curry) ; Masala bath was good though.and we had to ASK for curds. Dessert - Puran Poli (tiny, didn't taste great)
Overall Taste - not bad.
Service - below par (there were long pauses between each serving)
Lovely place to dine in. Homely environment. One needs to remove chappal outside and enter in. Maharashtrian food is served. Misal tasted good with fresh spice flavour. Sabudana vada was good. The thali was ok. Puranpoli was too small than expected. Sabjis flavour didn't stand out much. Kadhi consistency needs to be better. There are other dishes served like puri sabji, khichdi . Which I haven't tried.
Purnabramha - An authentic Maharashtrian restaurant at a prime location in HSR. Must try the variety dishes here from Vidarbha to Konkan. The ambiance is nice, service is great and the staff is very polite. You can get a feel of being in Maharashtra by listening the marathi music here in this restaurant. A great and must visit place in Bengaluru.
The best authentic maharashtrian food that satisfies your soul. Experience calming ambience with crunchy sabudana vada and kothambir vadi. Varan baath soothes your palatte and gets you ready for the best course, dessert, puran poli. Enjoy the soul food without burning your pockets.
We visited the restaurant on 10 th September. Pros Humble behavior by the owner Neat and clean space Cons Too costly Staff is not well trained We had to wait for long after each food was served. Asked many times than they will bring. No menu for thalli Different people served different food in same thhali
An Authentic Maharashtrian restaurant, all types of Maharashtrian food items are available here, they have table and low seats available which adds to the aura and the experience. Customer service is of utmost priority here. Prices are a little expensive but worth the experience and food
Need to work a lot on service.wait during food is not all appreciable.i have cancelled a dish infact because they brought it when we were about to finish food.food quality is ok
Visited on 6th Oct 2021 for lunch. Food was average. Ordered spacial full thali (Rs 499+tax) is definitely not worth paying. Portion wise its same as a south indian thali you get for 80rs. Had high expectations but failed to meet that.
We went for lunch and had a delicious meal. There were mattresses and you have the option of sitting down at the floor or on table. Lots of options and the prices were obviously expensive. The main highlight of this place is the ambience.
We visited here on 7th August. Ordered vada pav and in the meanwhile started to check the menu. Vada was too oily and stuffing in the vada was stale! Pav was too small and it was cold.
With strong guts ordered poori bhaji. It was not at all tum tum as mentioned in the menu rather it was too oily as shown in the picture and was like a papad. Bhaji was so purathan (ancient) and they just made it hot and served it, but tasted awful. As we showed and explained this to the manager, he was courteous to skip the poori bhaji bill as we couldn't even have it!
They are known for authentic maharashtrian food. Meesal paav, vada paav, thalipeeth, bhakar, curries.most of these are served with either comfortable floor setup or regular chair+table setup. My ratings could be unfair me being not from Maharashtra. Please decide yourself once you visit and share reviews.
Pros: More of authentic food. Marati veg lovers will love it. Served in hygienic way Staffs were so polite and welcoming Good ambience Kids friendly food available
Cons: Gravies were so much watery Limited dishes served in thali meal
Sometimes you eat food not to satiate your hunger but your soul and that's what purnabramha's food does. Relished every morsel and will keep coming back
Tasteless food. Very high prices. No proper service.low quantity and quality of food. The lady who takes order and serves food is rude, has no respect towards customer. I asked for a spoon and it was given at the end of the meal. Pathetic service. The whole food was not prepared fresh, it was a recycled food prepared a day before for sure.
Went for the first time yesterday and it was a wonderful experience. I work at a walking distance and had never seen it.
Ate lot of starters which are all typical marathi cuisine along with my favorite soul kadhi. (2glasses) and puran poli and shreekhand. Came out satisfied and happy. Fyi. I am not a marathi so the names are something I don't remember but sabudana khichdi, missal paav and a vada (not kothambir but with lot of coriander in it) were awesome.
Today I went with my family for lunch, and the food was so pathetic, it is no where close to maharashtrian cuisine at all. There is no parking. The staff is not co-operative and the lady was rude. The quantity and quality is very poor. Please do not visit this restaurant at all. It is no value for money at all.
Had my first hand experience about 3-4 yrs back at one of their outlets on bannerghatta road wherein we had misal pav, thalipeeth n 1 more item. 180/- for a misal and extra pav about 20/- each. Nothing great to talk about the other items too. Overly priced. This time around stumbled upon this place as it was the first Monday of shravan n was looking for fasting options. Grapped on to some kokum sharbat n upvasachi thalipeeth. It was filling as I was hungry too. Maybe will try once again at some other time. Expensive it is.
Excellent food. Good service, maintain very beautifully. Would you please open your branches in all over Bangalore & probably all over Karnataka? The reason i m giving 4 star is that i think this restaurant is very costly otherwise everything is simply magnificent.
Pethetic. Service is too slow and food was just Ok.not advisable for parents how have small baby coz waiting time is minimum 30min. Also the rates are too high.one puranpoli is Rs, 90.where as Malleswaram hallimane charges Rs, 18 for one. Main point is food was cooked using soda.can't think of going again
Dont ever go there, it becomes worst over the years. No one listen to you there. Food is totally waste and They are charge way higher for the food they are serving. This is worst than worst place to go.
Nice authentic Maharastrian restraunt. Ambience - Very simple but goes with the theme Hygeine - Seemed very hygienic Taste - Authentic maharashtra, Solkadi a must try Staff - Very friendly Overall - Great experience
Food was average and the service was pretty good. They can definitely improvise the menu as well as the ambience. Their Sol Khadi and Kothimbir Vadi is worth a try.
Awesome food. Must try is puranpoli (just a hint they give ghee in 1 bowl if u order multiple) and if you order one after another you will get more ghee Another one is khotambhari vadi and chutney is also pretty amazing, shabdana kchidi missal pav and pital bhakari.list can go on
I see lot of reviews for uncomfortable sitting and removing footwear outside. Disappointed.that’s our maharashtrian tradition.
As expected, Most Maharashtrians have given bad rating.lol.food taste was good. Quality and quantity was good. We took Wada starter platter. 550/- Price was a bit high.but kids loved the sabudana vada.modak was damn soft n yum. Tried masvada first time.it was spicy and tasty. Happy with experience.
Went on a Sunday night and had the special meals. Most dishes in the meals were too spicy and the meals was heavy. Best to have here is the Sabudana khichdi/ poha/ desserts. Go light and have some individual dishes. Never order meals here. Gets too heavy and too spicy
Good quality but quantity is very less as compared to their price/rate. Too expensive. An Indian burger (Vadapav) is at Rs. 35 in Purnabramha. But it is very similar to our regular Vadapav. Slightly big in size but still price seems too high. I would give 3 stars rating.
Tried their special Thali on Gudi Padwa. Worst food and Menu selection on festive day and you can't call this food as authentic Maharashtrian. Service is very slow and totally waste of money too expensive. Felt I was eating local 80Rs thali in Karve Nagar's Mess (That too has way better taste than this) with almost 7X price.
Sabudana khichdi is tasteless.no salt no chilly, also looks like it was prepared in ghee, Full waste. Otherwise we used to like other maharastriam food there.
Okay if you have lots of money, time and not bothered much about food quality then this is the right restaurant for you.
Food quality and quantity doesn't make justice to your time and money spent. Bhakkari was like 3mm thick at some point not baked evenly. Sabudana wada was not cooked well inside. As per owner it is at it's best. Potato mashed inside was still wet.
Owner has justified this how bhakkari will be at Maharashtra.just like bhakkari Paratha.
No parking options at this price.
Plus points: Ambience Sit down options Lot of food options.
Not very good experience with it. Service was too late and the quantity and quality both were not to the point for the price paid. I might be because I'm Maharashtrian, people would be fascinated by the food we eat, hence the price and popularity i guess.
There cannot be another better Maharastrian Restaurant in Bangalore. Very nice taste and feel of eating authentic Maharastrian Food. Highly recommended dishes - Misal-Pav, Kothimbir Vadi, Solkadhi and Puran Poli.
Food is tasty and good. Staff is also good. Authentic maharashtrian food with lots of choices. Restaurant Manager Prateek is professional and well behaved and looks personally to serve you.
I had misal pav which I was craving for very long. I didn’t get what I expected but it was not that bad too. The rassa needs to be a bit more thin than it is served. They don’t take any sort of card for payment, so do carry cash or you will have your surprise
Poornabrahma's food disappointed today. To be very honest, we have not enjoyed today's food at Poornabramha. Service and quality was not upto the mark. Even we had to call him for always as they wont turn up by their own, no starters and welcome drinks served. Along with thali itself they brought one Sabudana tikki as starters. Today first time I thought to take my parents to this restaurant and created too much hype about the service and food, but unfortunately they didn't find it good. Sorry to say but I dont see Poornabrahma in race of Authentic thali food. Its not just worth it.
The cost is too much for an average to sometimes decent food. They are not much bothered about so many people complaining about the cost. Its okay for a very occasional dine-out.
We went as a group of 11, hoping to discover some Maharashtra Cuisine. Unfortunately, they had only Thali that day - Limited Thali (INR 450 + tax) and Unlimited Thali (INR 550 + tax). This, they cited, was because it was a festival day, and there would be many orders. We looked around and found the place deserted. Nevertheless, we ordered Limited Thali for everyone and were ushered to their floor seating, which was extremely uncomfortable. The chairs, they said, were for Unlimited only. Thus began our wait for food for a solid one hour, before we all received our Thalis. Unfortunately, several of us didn't get every item, and upon requesting them, they had the audacity to assume that we were ordering extra and they said that it would be chargeable. And as if that was not enough, the rice arrived half an hour later after the first round. Regarding Food Quality and Taste. The dal, the paapad, the powders, Shrikhand and the special sweet rice were good. Everything else was bland. It was not worth 450. It wasn't even worth 200. The only plus for this place is that the crowd is so less that you can have a private conversation with someone without being bothered. An expensive affair, and totally not worth the price.
AND DID I MENTION THE AMOUNT OF COCKROACHES THAT WE SAW GOING UNDER THE SOFAS RIGHT NEXT TO US?
Real Maharashtra taste. Good ambience. Good service. Must try misal pav and vada pav, best in Bangalore. One star less for not accepting cards and dirt on stairs and exterior of building.
Regarding HSR branch Horrible experience This was our 2nd visit to this place but this time it was a total shock The place e was dirty inspite of complaints nothing g was done There were cockroaches crawling all over the place wholw we were eating n that was the most awful sight Tried to call the manager but the lady at the counter made excuses We just could not complete our meal n paid the bill n walked away This incident happened last month but inspite of writing them personally we did not get a response We request for a feed back on this It was so pathetic that they took the whole bill amount from inspite of not taking the meal
Worst service worst food taste. No more a maharastrian cuisine. Cost is too expensive for the quality. Bhakari was prepared like paratha. Cook is not trained.
Good Veg Menu place. Traditional maharastrian food lovers must visit this place. Great ambience with low seaters being the best. Prices are slightly on a higher note. Overall a good experience.
Very nice place and food is very good. Nice ambiance. Tables and sit down options are available. If you are a maharastrian you will feel at home. Prices are bit high but it's fine for the quality of food. Parking is a bit of problem as it is difficult to find parking place near to restaurant on the main road. I would visit this place again
If you are fond of maharashtrian food then its a best place for you as it has a long list of food menu which you generally don't find in any other place.
Real authentic Maharashtrian food. And PURE veg. Go for it for a change.the menu items are awesome, which you might have not really seen before. The food quality is good and hygienic
Awesome authentic Maharashtrian food. Will recommend Kothimbir Vadi, Sol Kadhi, Apart from usual stuff like Vada Pav & Misal. Deserts needs mention as well, do try Kharvas & Puranpoli Icecream. On service front they definitely need to improve. But overall we had great time at this place.
