RAILWAY MUSEUM HUBBLLI

Nice place managed by Railways. Very old item and artefacts are there. There is toy rail ride, video show inside AC railway coach custom-made. Better to go in evening when nice lighting is there.

Superb beautiful museum Hubballi’s getting a new rail museum to showcase the heritage of Indian Railways with exhibits and artefacts from past decades! Located near Hubballi Railway Station on Gadag Road, the museum will be open to visitors from Wednesday, August 5.  the museum is spread across two cottages – Ghataprabha and Malaprabha (named after the Mahadayi river tributaries) – as well as an outdoor area. However, the magic begins right from the entrance arch. Done up with emblems of South Western Railway’s yesteryear trains, the museum’s grand arch transports you back in time starting from the moment you step in. You’ll find everything from rails and sleepers to level crossing gate and analogue signals in the galleries here. Our favourite though would be the narrow gauge coach which has statues of passengers from various parts of the country, depicting ‘Unity in Diversity’.

Lot of scope to attract people, but nothing much to see here also most of them like, designed theatre and hotel compartments are closed when we had been there.

It will be better atleast if kids can have playgrounds or some games organized here.
As there were not many attracted, no people at all I would say, place was well maintained and kept clean.

Tickets can be brought on the spot, no advance booking needed.

Hubli Railway Museum located at Gadag road approximately 1.5km from Hubli railway station is also approachable from platform number 4 from Hubli Junction Ticket charges are Rs 20 per adult and 10 for children below 12 yrs. There is a cafeteria in the premises. The exhibits include two narrow gauge diesel locomotives two narrow gauge wagons, signal equipments, vintage communication devices, tokens and photos of the past related to railway history. It would have been better if models of narrow and metre gauge steam locomotives had been displayed. But soon these are trying to be be procured by the railways. This place is worth visiting for railway enthusiasts who are railway Nostalgia die hard fans.

If you want to spend an evening with kids or if you want to show an ideal sightseeing place to your guests in Hubballi, then you are at the right place.

The place is both an amusement and educational place. There is a toy train for the kids to enjoy which work as push pull train. And there is a lot to learn about railway terminologies like signals, tracks, guards, equipment and much more.

There is also cafeteria for a small snack and drink.

Visited this on Sunday, 26 June. Adult tickets are priced at 20 per head. Toy train is 10 per head including kids and does 3 rounds to and fro.

The souvenir shop is empty. But good collection of old IR artefacts and memorabilia. Restaurant and theater coach were closed.

The toy train does 3 rounds to and fro. IR and SWR should strive to maintain it properly.

Would NOT recommend to visit this place.

One of the finest museum I have ever visited. The Hubli railway has done a wonderful effort to show the history of Indian railway to the public. It is situated nearest to Hubli railway station. Ticket counter is in the front of the main gate. The properties inside the museum is arranged in an order to understand easily to the visitors. Changes happened in railway from past to present has clearly shown in a well manner. Restaurant facilities are available inside the museum. Those who wants to take pictures with train, it is possible. Wonderful place for history lovers as well as families to visit with their kids.

Really cute little place.best time is evening when lights are on. Good place to remind kids of their history and evolution of railways.
I got nostalgic looking at old railway equipments.

Rail museum is a good place were we can see lot of old railway tools which were used earlier. There is a toy train which children will like the most.

Ideal for kids below 10 years. History of Indian railway nicely displayed. Good for small study tour.

A fantastic effort by Railway Ministry to showcase a brief history of Indian Railways. It is neata and clean. Specially children will like this place a lot. Most useful information can be found here about The Great Indian Railways. The museum is great especially in evening time. There is ₹20/head cost for ticket and its worth to visit. Also they have toy train for the kids. Cafeteria and washroom also available.

It's a very amazing experience to come here.
Ticket price is 20/- for adults toy train ride costs 10/- If anybody wants to come here i will recommend visit this place from 6-7 evening because it's the time when lighting was all over the place and it just make the museum view spectacular. Trust me it's worth it to visit this place once.

A small, compact museum but full with amazing collection of old railway stuff.
Extremely reasonable priced entry ticket of Rs20/-.
Very well use of the two old buildings and available space.
Needs to be expanded. A small restraunt and souvenir shop will complete the experience.
It's a gem for Hubbali and should be made more popular, specialy amongst schools.

Railway Museum is located towards Gadag road around 1.5 Kms from Hubli city centre - Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle. Museum showcases the heritage of Indian Railways with exhibits and artefacts from past decades. Its a must visit for those who loves to travel in trains and are eager to know about the railways and its heritage. Railway engineering students will get a lot of information on their subjects as well. Basic tourist facilities like cafeteria, drinking water, toilets and parking are available at this premises.

Maintained neat and clean. Entry ticket was 20rs for adults. And free for less than 5 years. We can see all the old things used in 19 th century

Closes @8pm nice for kids once or twice, good for teens for knowledge. Don't eat there if you are sensitive to outside food. If possible can go to Kamath Restaurant just opposite, it is a tourism hotel. It was closed when i went, maybe due to covid. Max time to spend 1hr. Ticket 20 for adults 10 for teens betwn 6 12. Kids free. Train ride is rs 10 per person. It is like a shunting ride like back and forth. Any way have fun that's all that matters.
