Art lovers please don't go to Ranga Shankar for any reason. It's just cheating there, even if I went to the play five minutes late, they didn't let me in. Also, as soon as an influential person came, my eyes immediately went to the theater. But here is just cheating.
There's an entitled old man who acts like he owns the place (I don't care if he probably does) and thinks that it gives him the right to be rude to anyone. The information he gave us could have been communicated politely but he instead chose to be condescending and sarcastic about it. The worst part is that he had a fake smile plastered on his face all the while which frankly made me want to punch him in the face.
We went for the drama "Mukhyamanthri" & it was a wonderful experience. We met & had conversation with Mukhyamanthri Chandru Sir also. Such a humble & jovial person he is.
I had witnessed two hindi plays by the Kathputli group of Delhi recently. Very impressive attendance to watch the performance in a theater during this time.
A must Visit Place with Family. A small canteen serving Saboodane Vadas and many hot recipes at very reasonable Price. Good Theatre experience. Beautiful Audio experience.
Beautiful cafe and very artsy feel to the place. The bookstore is lovely. If you get lucky, you could meet the founder and popular theatre and film personality Arundhati Nag.
Loved the small cafe. Anjus Cafe. Very homely food. Options from traditional Indian meal to sandwiches. Quick bites. Butter milk. Tried sabudana vada, Ragi roti and millet khichdi. Yummy
Excellent auditorium and the Ranga Shankara is one of Bangalore's well known theatres. It is located in the south Bangalore area of J. P Nagar and is run by the Sanket Trust. The auditorium, which opened in 2004, was envisioned by Arundathi Nag, in remembrance of her late husband, Shankar Nag, who was a renowned actor in the Kannada film industry
Anju's cafe@ Rangashankara is my home! Be a casual coffee to a serious meeting I am there. Love the menu and best are khichdi, sabudana vada and sev Puri. Have modern twist to classic food spread. Anju is a great host herself and had many years of experience in this industry. Her Onam sadhya is a must try! Bonus u get too see a lot of actors from theatre fraternity. There is a small book store too tucked in! Must visit place (would have given more than 5 stars if I had an option) Keep up the energy flowing Anju!
Ranga Shankara is a famous theatre. Unfortunately I could not see any play as none was scheduled on that day but I visited the wonderful cafe there. Look and feel, crowd and food everything is great. I must mention two drawbacks - pricing is lil high & THE FOOD SERVER IS VERY EGOISTIC. He seems not know Kannada which isn't a problem, he may learn soon but prob is his attitude!
A place where theatre art is still alive Well maintained, very good decipline. Doing a great service to the society in sustaining an old form of art "live play"
Breath taking, serene and beautiful place dedicated for Art lovers. Foodies are welcome too. Inside Rangashankara you will find Anjus cafe, a cool joint for snacks and refreshing drinks. I loved their Sabudana Vada.
Simply best Highly recommend Best ambiance Seats are well maintained and comfortable People who love stage show this theater is highly recommended for any age audiences. In and around is well maintained Nice sound system Friendly facilities and very professional Recommended to book tickets on BMS
Ranga Shankara is a very nice place in the center of the city. Ambience is good and maintained well. The staff takes care to see that the visitors maintain discipline and follow the rules of the theater which is a good sign of taking of the society.
Best theater in South Bangalore for staging of dramas, dance etc. Excellent acoustics and seating. All COVID Protocol being observed. Good restaurant and Bookshop also on the premises.
Wonderful place to watch dramas. There will be Q to enter the auditorium to watch drama. Better to reach early so that ppl can sit in the center. Person sitting on side rows may not hear certain dialogues if the actor turns other way. There is no use of Mike. Also mobile usage is strictly prohibited during drama.
Located in jp nagar, this place is a must visit for all those who love theatre and plays. I didn't go inside but can say that it's a great place for entertainment and fun. They have many stages here and have a café inside. It was crowded and people were quiet enjoying themselves. They have a bookstore attached which has a collection of old and new books in english and kannada. Great one!
The cafe at Ranga Shankara is a simple and lovely place to grab a quick bite and take a few easy hours. The place is famous to host some of the best plays, regional, national and international. Don't forget, you can't be late else once gate close you can't enter the play.
Loved it, the place is back with #marali_nataka, watched a play "An old man and the sea" amazing effort to all. The place is decent with good quality of entertainment. It also has cafe attached with minimal parking area. Located just next to Indian post office. So beware of parking, police station is just behind the location. We were greeted with garland, welcome to Ranga Shankara.
Don't dare be late (especially if you're in the play!), lest the 70 year old gatekeeper shuns you like you are the most vile creature to ever set foot in a theatre space. Some courtesy would go a long way. In the name of "respecting the artists" the old man didn't let one of the artists themselves in! And two minute delay should be forgivable no matter how respected or well known you are.
One of the best stages in Bangalore for performing arts. It would have been great if we can select seats while booking though. The cafe serves good snacks as well. Just be on time. They do not entertain late entry.
This place has the best saboodana vade in the town. There is a nice ambience to work on some intellectual stuff. You get peace of mind along with Theatre and drama.
Fabulous experience for watching play. At JP Nagar.named after famous kannad actor Shankara Nag. Small cafe. Cute book store. Inside the hall.the pattern and ambience are like Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai. Low, three side open stage providing excellent viewing experience. Bench type sitting arrangement. Would be better with handrest to avoid little discomfort.
Rang Shankara is always fascinating me for different great production. This time we performed EIDGAH K JINNAAT at rang Shankara festival. The team was great and the space is beautiful. It's very hard to come Bangalore again and again from Jaipur and perform at rang Shankara but I thank rang Shankara & sandbox collective for inviting us.
I have been watching Kannada dramas here from a long time. It's the best place, interms of viewing experience for dramas. Normally it hosts good plays.
Nestled in the bylanes of JP nagar a cultural hub accessible to all. Serene, exciting, fun, intellectual all at once. The cafe inside is like your school canteen of yore tasty fare (albeit oily but which truly tasty snack isn't:) also priced like your school days as well. Loved the book shop within, such a widespread range of titles - for kids, for the angsty teenagers, for the activist within you, for the old at heart, for the not so old at heart. You get the picture there are books for most kind of readers. It's the perfect meeting place if you want to hang out for a while without blowing a hole in your pocket.
Best place to watch plays. We're lucky to have this in Bengaluru attracting best theater groups across the world to perform here. Have seen shows by atleast half a dozen foreign theater groups. Best accoustically designed Theater space. Hub for cultural activities The canteen is an Awesome hangout. Can't resist eating sabudanavada and coffee every time. Separate men's and women's toilet exist.
My first drama in the home of artist's #rangashankara amazing place and a pure Bliss to perform as a lead role in drama "SaalumarGala thaayi thimmakka".
Ranga shankara shows the actual theatre discipline.
Timings is the major factor for audience. Kids below 8yrs are not allowed Cell phones must be switched off or silent once u enter inside Our team "theater therapy"
Best theatre in Bangalore to watch a play. The acoustics are really good to enjoy a play to the fullest. Their cafe has one of the best Sabudana vadas.
Nice drama auditorium.they have plays in various languages.they have an excellent food court and their Sabu dhana vada is pretty popular.if you like plays then you should visit this place.they have the list of plays shown In a directory. They are very strict on timings, so be on time.
Serene and decently maintained. No dedicated parking though. Vehicles have to b parked in streets. Seat no.is not allocated on tickets, its first come first seat basis. Try to take centre seats 3-6 row from front from best view (personal opinion)
World class Theater In Bangalore.one of my Favorite place, frequently visit.very beautifully built with great ambiance.air conditioned & sound system arrangement is amazing.a quite place for art, theater lovers.this place also have a book shop, nice restaurant for chats.
Wonderful place. Everytime I watch shows here, it leaves me thinking. Feels good to see budding artists and real stage performance. Kudos to all live performers here. You are all so talented and are giving us a different world to witness.
