The place has been recently renovated and maintained really well. The park is clean, green and spacious. The staff were really good and friendly. They guided us through the park and explained the different types of birds and their habitats. The highlight of the visit was the boat ride on the river. It was awesome and thrilling. We spotted a lot of birds, such as ibises, spoonbills and kingfishers. We also saw some crocodiles sunbathing on the rocks. The boat driver was very skilled and careful. He took us close to the birds and crocodiles without disturbing them. The entry fee was reasonable and the facilities were good. There were restrooms, drinking water, snacks and souvenir shops available. The park also had a museum, a library and a children’s play area. Overall, I would rate this place 5 stars out of 5. It is a must-visit for nature lovers and bird watchers. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun and educational outing.
As usual Ranganatittu is filled with migratory birds and ignorant fools Black and white Ibis, Open billed stork, Great Egret bird, Jacana bird, Grey hornbill, Wagtail and lots more are commonly seen here Occasionally a crocodile or two will be resting on the rocks with their mouth wide open
Parking space is to the left of the entrance, reasonable price and place Get boating ticket, while getting entrance ticket
Couple of watch towers provide great view
Rest of the forest area isn’t very dense but doesn’t provide clear view to the bird island
Butterfly park, glass bridge and pond are just for name sake
But very nice place to sit quietly and relax, if you are silent and have good observation skills, you’ll see different birds
Don't take the boat ride they charge additional 100 entrance fee otherwise the entry fee is only 75, The staff at the boat ride are very arrogant and non cooperative, no food to eat, all closed, but souvenir shop is open how come
Even though it was Sunday there was no much crowd. A small 10-15 mins ride where the boat rider explained the history of Ranganatittu Sanctuary and how it came to life.
There are 25 species of birds itseems but only few wishes to show themselves and not to forget this is the only place where I saw the crocodile so close, they were so Statue'd.
And there are few shops and offcourse as we all know prices were high.
There are few funny pictures spots here and there.
Overall it's an evening place where you can spend around 2 hours and enjoy yourself.
A beautiful place to visit for nature lovers. Have to go early to enjoy the boating.lot of birds come from various places from December to February. The garden area is very beautiful. Can spend quality time with Nature. Ticket price is not expensive. Place for storing our bags etc is also provided for a fee. Boats man Natraj took us on the boat ride told us about many birds, nesting habits and season. Enjoyed the visit to Ranganathittu.
It's very nice place for hang out, the main attraction is a lake full of water and trees, bushes, this place have variety of birds, some of were came from Siberia, and full of, crocodile, there is boating facility for visitors, which is a prepaid, they will provide life jacket for boating, it was a very thrilling adventures experience
A beautiful place for a day out with the kids and adults. Definitely should not miss the boat ride. We can see many beautiful birds in their natural habitat from up close. Not to miss the stealthily moving crocodiles lurking in the water and the birds swooping down to catch fish from the lake.
Nice to see those various birds and occasional crocodiles out open. Natural habitat. Variety of trees and birds to see. The park is clean and well landscaped.lot of shade.
It is very nice place. We enjoyed a lot over there. We were facinated of seeing the birds living lively. Every where we see them in Zoo but here they are freely moving. Please take the boat ride.
The sanctuary is very easy to find: it's only around 3 Km from the Mysore Road highway. It is situated on the banks of the river Kaveri. We found it peaceful and serene.
The tickets can be taken at entry without getting out of the vehicle: quite convenient. There is a large well organised car park with parking stewards ready to guide you to a suitable place.
It seems well looked after as we didn't notice any trash anywhere. There is a boating facility and most people were thronging that area. The counter was closed despite it not being the lunch break. It was quite frustrating. Surprisingly, the driver of the electric buggy service noticed us and a few others standing there not knowing who to contact. He called someone, but having received no response, he himself opened the counter and issued the tickets: we were grateful to him.
There are a lot of signboards giving plenty of information about the birds that are resident there, but we couldn't really identify many of them. The boating session was good. It takes you at a slow and relaxed peace allowing you to enjoy the scenery, noises of the birds etc. That was the best part. It lasted around 30 - 40 mins. It's mandatory to wear life jackets. We were also impressed with the sight of sanitizer spray being doused on all life jackets once a trip is over and is ready for use by the next set of people.
There are also some gardens that have been maintained beautifully: sights worth seeing. The glass bridge was also a unique experience. The cascade was okay, but not very impressive.
Very disappointed. There was no boating when i visited this place. Boating is the main attraction of this place so that we can see many birds but unfortunately it is closed due to heavy water flow. So contact them before going there.
Peaceful ambience, but unfortunately due to rise in water levels could not go for boating. The dry bamboo trees need to be cleaned up, less variety of birds may be due to rain. L8t of parking space available. Viewing towers need to be appropriately placed as views are not very good
One of the best bird sanctuary of India. January to June is the best time to visit. More than 20 species of birds and more than 10 animal species can be seen here. Park in this sanctuary is too good. Clean and cool environment makes this place more comfortable.
One of the adorable place anybody can visit.cool nature with wonderful gardening, we can find Verity of birds sitting on trees it's amazing, apart from that crocodiles in their own environment make us more amazed while boating in river Kaveri.it is near to srirangapatana
Nature's paradise for birds.amazing to see birds and crocodiles living together in peace' and harmony.very well maintained park.now the onus is on us to keep it clean as well.please carry cash as online and credit cards are not accepted.rates are revised as of 1st of April 2021. Rs. 100/- per head for common boat (10-12 people) for 30 mins.private boat- Rs. 2000/- (max 4 people) guided tour for 1hr. Entry and camera charges are high but.if the same is towards maintenance of the island and the park.then worth our contribution to nature
For birds lovers nice place. This place got many types of birds, number of crocodiles and soo many fish for them too eat. Boating price was cheap (70rs/ head). However, I have taken personal Boating with 1500/- and seen the nature closely. Boating guide was very good; he gave some details about different types of birds. Maintenance of surrounding area is also great with many flowers around. Any place that's filled with Nature is in general Good. And this has forest, river, birds, crocodile, etc. It was Awesome. Sufficient car parking is available here. The boating ride was cool. We were able to see few crocodiles sun bathing. We saw 1000s of birds in such close quarters.
It's a peaceful place, bird lovers, photographers you will love this place. They take you around the lake in a boat so that u can have a close look at the various species migrated from around different places. You also take a walk in the surrounding, sit, relax and feel the beauty of the sanctuary
Worst service support by the government. You guys don't have cashless option while the entire country speaks about digital payment mode. Silly reason being quoted is network problem. You guys first provide necessary infrastructure and technology support to your own department before making it compulsory to public. Really pathetic. Plz bring this content to your top management before it directly reached the PM. God bless you all. Get yourself updated first.
Nice place to visit with family and friends For birds lovers nice place. Boat operators are very informative about birds. Well maintained place with ambient parking space Stone bench in the walk way path is useful while you are tired. Few staff are very responsive and few are warming the bench, Felt cost quite high.on Camera usage and entrance fee
Here I've been many times, good for all bird watching enthusiasts, amazing place, varities of migratory birds, take the 30 mins boat ride and guide who will explain about the birds and other things related to water, crocodiles, seasonal birds etc. Etc. The park is also maintained well, there's a glass bridge walk way and a hanging bridge. The bird sanctuary is situated on kaveri or cauvery river bank in srirangapatna. Ample parking available.
Ranganathittu is a bird sanctuary that can be visited throughout the year by bird lovers. Easily accessible from Bangalore, enroute to Mysore, visiting this place is a great option for both children and adults. Visit early in the morning and hire a boat. November heralds in the winter migrants who stay put until March, adding to the already numerous varieties of birds you can see here.
Private boat costs 2000 Rs for a nearly 40 minute ride. It takes you very close to the nests, and we had the experience of a large crocodile just swim past us, also got to see the mud shallow nests. That apart if one has a decent binoculars and can identify birds independently boat ride can be skipped. The park is decent but nothing much for kids
A must visit for the city kids as they never experience such a sight. It also helps them understand about the various migratory birds. The place is also very well maintained and the staff members are courteous as well.
Lots of birds, mainly pelican and storks, but the charges are exorbitant, rs 500 for camera, rs 100 per head for a 10/12 mins row boat ride, it's nothing like the Ranganathittu I've been all through my childhood. Very money oriented staff and facilities, be it drinking water, cool drinks, parking whatever, they started to charge exorbitant. Are u planning to attract tourists it repel them away?
Amazed by the beauty of nature, worth spending whole day amidst the beautiful birds. You can get to see many crocodiles resting on rocks, moving under water looking for its prey. You can also take a long stroll in the vast park they have. During lunch break (1.30-2.30), boat ride will not be available. They sanitize the safety jackets after every use.
Lovely place. Any place that's filled with Nature is in general Good. And this has forest, river, birds, crocodile, etc. It was Awesome. Sufficient car parking is available here. The boating ride was cool. We were able to see few crocodiles sun bathing. We saw 1000s of birds in such close quarters. We saw the birds building their nest, catching fishes, feeding their hatchlings, resting in the nest and so on and so forth.
Its a very nice place to spend some good time with family & friends especially kids. A very informative place too. Nature & Bird lovers must definitely visit this place.
Excellent place to spend your time peacefully.
The place is quite large and soothing to walk. But my only complain is I got to see only a few varieties of birds is the sanctuary. Maybe I went at a wrong time or season but that's my only regret otherwise it's a great place to visit.
Nice place to spend time amidst Greeneries. This is not a very big place, so can be covered in 1,2 hours. But If You aren't taking Boat ride extra, then You can't go closer to birds. Also while boating, You will see crocodiles laying on the submerged rocks.
Nice place for a day out with family and kids good collection of birds and boating also good place for photo taking whoever having affection towards birds and nature enjoy it also dont forget ride boat.
Great place add in your mysuru trip.you'll get to see varieties of birds. If you are lucky crocodiles too. Everything is fine but ticket rate is too high as well parking price and you have to pay extra for boating that is inside sanctuary. Post Monsoon is the best time. If you are photograher then dont fotget to bring your zoom lens! Sharp 6PM they will close the gate. You can witness one of the best sunset here.
The place in itself is quite breathtaking. Unfortunately, the people who come there are mostly people who have no idea about how to behave in a bird sanctuary. They sing songs and keep shouting and scare all the birds away. So you must try and go on a day when it'll be relatively less crowded and stay as far away from them as possible if you're a real lover of birdwatching. Watching the pelicans scoop up the fish is definitely an exciting experience and I would recommend you visit this place, it's really great.
Looks like a park. Lake is beautiful with trees. When I was there I had seen a flock of cranes. There is boating facility, you can have fun time. And you may find crocodiles there too.
This bird sanctuary is amazingly well maintained place by Government Of Karnataka. You can see various types of birds according to the season. U can look at the birds have a wondeful boating. Spend lot of time on the beautiful garden among the nature.
Must carry a good Binaculors, place is very clean and peaceful. Since the entry fee is charged unwanted crowd doesn't come here.
Get your kids agr group above 5 years. Nice to connect with nature.
After visiting Rangantittu you have loads of places near by to visit.
All type/kind of migrated birds visiting this site round the year for reproduction & are available a site. And also the wild animals all around the forest are coming/available for drinking water at riverside/for site.
An excellent place for bird watching. During November to March, you get to see a large variety of bird species. A peaceful place to walk around and be with nature.
Boating is there. As per costs: 1. Entrance fee 2. Boating fee 3. Camera fee (if you take it)
It is a wonderful nature, only for this reason I giving 3 stars, otherwise it is worst place.the cost of tiket and boting are expensive.for urinal you mus pay 30 rupees.
Must see for all visiting Mysore. Approx 15 km from Mysore on way to Brindaban Gardens. You can have close view of Birds and Crocodile from boat. Quite thrilling.
Entrance fees is 70/head, boating fees is also 70/ head for a ten minute round trip. Unless boating opted, nothing much other than few crocodiles and stork species. Boating makes the experience awesome.
Great place for the weekend. Its calm, you'll get to see varieties of birds. We got a chance to see crocodile too.
Note:
+ Entrance ticket for ₹70 per adult and ₹50 per car (check other rates on the board in front of ticket counter) Ensure you calculate and pay as the person giving ticket at the entrance was trying to take extra. We were supposed to pay ₹330 and he asked ₹350
+ You should take separate tickets for boating which is also ₹70 per adult. This boating ticket counter is inside.
Two starts only because of natural beauty. Boat ride was most useless thing. They will take you around for 10-15 minutes ride. You won't see anything extra which you can't see from sides of river. Enormous camera charges. 150Rs for normal camera and if you have a lense above 200mm get ready to pay 500Rs extra. And believe me it's not worth.
Ranganathittu bird sanctuary is a great place to spot migratory birds, especially in the winter months. The short boat ride is enough to see Crocs and several species of birds like Cormorant, Pelican, Ibis, Spoonbill etc.
Beautiful way to spend a day sith family or friends. Best november thru march when northern birds are wintering. Can view the birds from a boat. Do not miss the crocodiles!
You'll have to find out when the density of birds are more and then go. Otherwise it's just a park around a lake. Nothing very special about it. If you're in an off season, you won't find anything apart from crocodiles and some cranes
Very good place. You can see lot of migrated birds. All varieties of water boats available for tourist to go around in Kaveri river. Maintained by Karnataka Tourism. Worth spending a day. Well maintained. If River is overflowing boating will not be there. They have to provide life jockets for Boat travellers.if you are planning for a whole day trip better to carry food since it is not available. Public Transport is rare. For lower middle class entry fee is bit high.
