This is a great place to see and feel very sad thst other kings distroyed the creativity of great artists. It was totaly under earth for many years and excavated now and is such a lovely tourist place
Literally cried after seeing this place which used to be the great palace of majestic and mighty vijayanagar empire back in 13-16 century.
Barbaric bahamis burnt the complete sandlwood palace to ashes and stones, such a pathetic lunatics!
Apart from the lavish palace, this complex shows advacned technics used in back in days like water management, different levels of security fortress, secret passages and well planned usage of space for cultural celebrations for both royal family and publics.
The Royal Enclosure in Hampi is one of the interesting ruins of Hampi. Royal Enclosure is centre of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Royal Enclosure is the place where the King of Vijayanagara Empire lived and ruled from. This area was secured by double walls. The complex housed by many buildings, all for the use of the royal family. Now, the area has only ruins of several palace bases, water tanks, temple, ornate platform, aqueducts and canals, exquisitely carved doorways and many other structures. Very nice place to visit.

One of the best spot in Humpi the Royal Enclosure spread over 59000 square meters. This was once upon a time, the home of the Vijayanagara King and his Queens. Today the enclosure lies largely in ruins but still speaks loudly of the life it once contained. The royal enclosure in Hampi was the Vijayanagara kingdom’s seat of power. In its prime, it housed as many as 45 buildings including the durbar halls, platform, tanks, underground chambers, and temples. There are three entrances to the Royal Enclosure; two in the north and one in the west.
Rich heritage. You can see the planning and the thought process involved in each of the building that they had constructed to serve the purpose. Everyone should visit these places once in their lifetime. You can see Queens bath, Jala Mahal, Elephant Stable, Lotus Mahal, Dasara Dibba where King used to view Dasara celebration. You also can see pushkarini, dining hall for soldiers, secret chamber, Royal palace ruins, mint place etc and the list goes on.
One suggestion: : Keep more time of your trip for this area as it is large and many things that you dont wanna miss. Beautiful and stunning architecture with rich heritage and culture.
A place with archeological importance. Now only the remains of a might kingdom exists. Most of which are just ruins razed to the ground by the barbarian reign.
Must visit place for all Indians. We really need to understand how talented our ancestors were and hampi will definitely take us to those olden days. Underground temples, secret passage, stepwell, stone engravings and so on. Worth a full day visit.
Royal Enclosure - A comparatively large group of ruins in Hampi. Though most of them are not in state to visit but don't miss out on this site as few of the ruins are worth visiting.
We do miss out few ruins & we regreted. Mainly Pushkarni (a stepped Well). You'll see plenty of those around Hampi but one in Royal Enclosure is well maintained & in mostly the same state as built. So it's symmetry is beautiful to watch & admire. Also if you're a good photographer or you've got one with you, then you're Instagram feed is going to look amazing.
The Royal Enclosure is a fortified area that spreads across hundreds of square metres of land. This area was the seat of power of the Vijayanagara Empire. It has many interesting structures that attract visitors even in their ruined conditions. Imposing structures like the Dassera Platform and the King’s Audience Hall are part of the Royal Enclosure.
Royal enclosure is the remnants of place from where the king of Vijayanagara empire ruled from. It is now an UNESCO World Heritage site which is maintained by local authorities funded by UNESCO. It's an open ground with multiple ruins of several palace bases, water tanks, temples, secret rooms etc. If you plan to visit this site do carry sufficient water or rehydrating drinks. It's a lot of walking inside the fence in bright sun. The place has absolutely mesmerizing views. Pushkarni is one of the attractions within Royal enclosure.
It's an architecture masterpiece but there is no one around these areas, you cannot even find a water bottle. These places are half destroyed and then not maintained It feels like you go to watch the destruction and not the masterpiece: (
Nicely restored by archeological team. A proof of vijayanagara kingdom. Mahanavmi dibba is nice place for sunrise. Stone doors are awesome. Pushkarini is beautiful.water channel made of stone is awesome, which was used to bring water from lake nearby. Musical plates/stones are wonderful too.
The place is really astonishing, as it shows how big the Royal Empire of Vijayanagara was. Worth visiting and spending atleast 3 hours to look at each and every piece of that place
Get a guide for this one as this is a huge sprawling campus encompassing different structures which don't make any sense if you look at them on your own. The entrance has a huge stone door which is lying outside the main entrance. The main structure inside is the huge podium on which Raja used to sit during Dusshera celebrations. On top it gives you a very nice view of the complete royal enclosure. It has another structure inside - stepped tank which is a must visit. Its one of the iconic structures of Hampi and hence a must visit. We can also see the aquaducts along the way feeding in water from Kamalapura lake. Then there are others structures as well like a secret chamber, podiums for general public, public bath, head-cutter for criminal etc. All so much in this one place. Do visit.
One more historical place in this location. We can find many Sculptures here which speaks about its heritage. A beautiful small water tank is available near this place. The sides of tank having oranamented steps which is truly a master piece. The design will speak how we care for small things even it is steps.
The architecture is at its best! #Hampi one day is not enough to complete the heritage of Hampi some of the monuments are half demolished maybe in search of treasure they have demolished. If you going for a perfect photography do not visit on public holidays it's pretty much crowded.
Stunning to know history of Raja Krishna Tai. Must visit place atleast once in lifetime. Recommend to hire good guide to know the history. Step well, secret chambers, water line systems etc are really great.
Royal enclosure is place where Royal palace, houses for parliment members and Place for Sports like kusthi (wrestling) was made. This enclosure was so smartly constructed that it had water pipe line form nearby lake, and these pipeline is connected through each of the Royal houses in the premises and also a artificial lake built inside the premises.
It's great to see what king krishnadevraya built at that time, the "kinds" o er here were said to be the place to play festival of "Holi" just for the royal family, n The before Excavatio n after is outstanding. All the scenery here is the result of hardwork of Archeological Survey of India (ASI). We should be very thankful for them for their rebuild, Royal enclosure has Aqua ducts still present n ASI has found the old plates in which food was served n kept securely over here, DO HAVE A GUIDE specifically the one with KSTDC ID card, Hampi has great to show. Detailed photos are shown n uploaded
This area is located before the Lotus Mahal Complex has the Newely excavated Stepped Tank which is a must see and also one of the preserved or should rather say the most intact ruins for all. It also has Mahanavmi Dibba which is a place to welcome guest from other nations and dignatories. It also has Audience hall of the King and an Underground Shrine to see
In love. If the ruins could create such a heritage. Incredible #Hampi would have been architectural wonder those days representing Indian heritage and culture.
Yes it was October sunny days in Hampi when we visited Royal enclave. It has many more monuments itself. A big big assembly hall, stepped tank, punishment room, dinning room and many more. Each wall is saying something, nothing but the story of great empire.
Hampi is an ancient village in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It’s dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. On the south bank of the River Tungabhadra is the 7th-century Hindu Virupaksha Temple, near the revived Hampi Bazaar. A carved stone chariot stands in front of the huge Vittala Temple site. Southeast of Hampi, Daroji Bear Sanctuary is home to the Indian sloth bear.
