SaffronStays Suvarna Sangam, Udupi

Two things that worked were the hospitality and location! The other 3 things that were a deal breaker were the size of room, hygiene and food. We were really disappointed with the size of the room. We had booked Vedavathi, (that was the only room available) and the pictures of which were quite deceiving from the reality. Somehow, they managed to make the rooms airy and huge in the pictures but that was not the case. Other rooms at the property might be bigger but again, I am sharing my experience here. There was hardly any space to walk once our luggage was laid out on the groud. No desk space or cupboard space. It almost felt like we were living in a pigeon hole. The room was clearly not worth the price. Coming to hygiene, everyday after numerous requests the rooms used to get cleaned and again that was just a sham. The cleaning lady used to just put lots.of water in the washroom and leave it dripping wet and smelling awful. The kitchen was as well not in the best of shape when it came to cleanliness and hygiene. The people were really sweet and polite, and I think did the best they could to make us feel welcomed. Food was simple and fine, there could be more options I felt. My review here is just a feedback, hope they only improve from here.

Food is excellent, we complimented them specially for the morning breakfast.
The whole team works as one.

We happened to visit with place recently. I must say it was an excellent property and well maintained. Very calm and unique. Felt like I was leading actual Udupi life. The help Kumar was really good. I carried a 10 month old and it was so convenient.the room the hygiene everything was top notch. But please be aware of the manager Prasad. He is such a scammer. He charged us a lot for breakfast just for one item extra. He’s Charged 3 times the price. When I questioned him he started arguing n made us pay so much. Even for dinner he’s charged 5 times the price telling the sea food is expensive. Please be aware of such nuisance. I sincerely request saffron stays to take action against him cuz ur property will loose its value cuz of people like him. I loved the property no doubt it’s very well maintained. Even the helping people are good. But I was super disappointed with the manager Prasad. He just wanted money. He literally scammed and looted us

I stayed in the netravalli villa for 2 days.

Pros: very beautiful villa, spacious, very near and clean, very well maintained, has the old and authentic charm intact, in the midst of lush green trees and foliage, has the backwater running directly in fron of the property, have two decks on the property to enjoy the backwaters, excellent food, very helpful staff (Kumar and family), Prasad is also very approachable, have a tv in the room, cute old windows, lovely weather

Cons: access road is difficult, property is little isolated from the main areas (but that can be interpreted as the charm of it also).

Definitely going back.

Booked this from Agoda and it was showing as CONFIRMED.
When we reached the property they said booking is NOT confirmed

There is NO contact info of this place in Google or Agoda.

After reaching there I asked them: I will pay you directly, let me in.
I had come all the way from Gokarna to this isolated place and was very tired then they started saying
We have empty rooms but we CAN NOT give you as it is not confirmed.

We again checked with Agoda but they asked us to wait for half an hour.
I finally left the place and found a better alternative.

Never going to recommend this place. Nothing great. Wasted my 3 hours and energy.

We had booked this place from agonda and b booking was confirmed, we were asked to pay at the property but property had no manager as such and they said they don't accept any kind of payment from guest directly.

Had a very pleasant stay in Saffron stay. Nice riverside place to stay. Very peaceful.roads are a bit narrow. Be careful if you are driving a SUV. Host Prasad was very helpful.

Awesome experience in this leg of our journey. Very grounded staff very supportive and left no stone unturned for our requirements during stay. A class experience with delicious food served by them. Only point is it is little difficult to reach but once there feel at home place. A complete unwind destination.

This place is a hidden gem, very authentic, real and peacefull.
Surrounded by the Udupi River, ideally this is situated in the island and its filled with coconut trees which is amazingly attractive in its own way.
The rooms were spacious enough and very well maintained, Bathrooms were so big and tidy. View from the rooms were really good. Sun rise and sunset both can be seen clearly here in this place.
Food! Was very good, this is home cooked and needs to be pre ordered, and this won't dissapoint you, fish fry was the best and other items in the meals which come along will not dissapoint you at all.
Parking available and need to cross a small village to reach this place and its very nice drive.
One can enjoy the evening and mornings in the banks of the river disconnect from the busy life!

One suggestion for the host: service must be more welcoming and manager should be tuned to welcome the guest and make them feel good whenever we talk to the staff. Those training is missing, apart from that everything is amazing!

Had a wonderful stay at SaffronStays Suvarna Sangam Sharavathi room. The room decor is very nice. We loved the large balcony sit out and the views of the river. The caretaker Prasad took good care of us. The food was nice and homely. If you would like a relaxing getaway would recommend Suvarna Sangam.

Saffron stays is a beautiful resort literally hidden from sight. We couldn't believe it was there until we reached! It is a gem really.beautifully built for a relaxing experience away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It is built on the brim of the Udupi backwaters. The drive to the resort is through lush coconut orchards.and across a bridge on the backwaters.let your imagination run wild there.yeah it is everything you can think of and more.beautiful is an understatement. Coming to the resort stay, the ambience and cleanliness is on point. Great food is a plus point. And Mr. Prasad the estate manager and Mr. Ravi our helper deserve a special thanks for all the help with our last minute booking. Everyone were so warm, polite and courteous and made our stay very memorable. A huge treat for us was the early morning sunrise view boating arranged by Mr. Prasad. We got to see the sunrise from the perfect location i.e. The middle of the backwaters surrounded by coconut trees. This is the view of the year for me!

Saffron Stays properties are labors of love and passion of their owners.

These owners usually do not belong to the hospitality industry.

And therein lies the real beauty.

We can all try and suffer.the homogenised experiences of 5-star 'normalcy'.

But if you want to soak in the true idiosyncracies of eclectic wealth, then a place like Suvarna Sangam is a must.

It is like stepping into a time machine and wandering off to a world that a typical Mumbaikar can never imagine.

The town itself feels laid back. The lazy roads leading to this property gently coax you to breathe deeper, calm down. And the cottages (named after unique local rivers) invite you to wind down even further. A bunch of tulsi plants, a quaint but functional open well, an outdoor bath area. Sigh!

The staff are all sincere and efficient. Please do not expect 5-star fakes.these are real-life adjusters who are trying their best.

The jaggery coffee is spectacular.and the food is honest, tasty and nutritious. Fresh as fresh can be. Nom-nom-nom!

Sunrise at the two river decks: well this is the Absolute highlight of a stay here. It's an experience that any character from Avatar would feel at home with.surreal and overwhelming. And hypnotizes you to stay another day.

All in all, once you stop wanting a Four Seasons or Marriott world, you can enjoy a wonderful stay to reminisce on life, our traditions, our past and our future.

The place is very calm with good ambience, excellent scenery, peaceful environment. A must visit if you want to get away from the city chaos.

Beautiful property surrounded by coconut trees and Suvarna river. The river deck was one of our favourite spot. Rooms were quite spacious and super clean! The lunch served was absolutely delicious. Special mention to the caretakers and Mr. Sukesh for being so helpful throughout our stay. The staff is very sweet.

Nice quiet place, the room itself is just okay (for its price) but the deck food serving and the area around is pretty good. Food is a little expensive, but decent taste-wise. Fresh fish available if you want. Wifi available and it's fast enough. Pet friendly.

The approach is not easy, especially in the dark. Try to get in when there is sunlight, because the road is small and just fits in one SUV. What that means is, access to other places from here becomes an ordeal. And there are no stores around that you can just walk to, so to buy anything, you'd have to ask the keeper, who'll ask an auto guy to get.

Recommended if: You want to stay in and around the quiet vicinity of the rooms, riverside leisure, for a couple of days.
Not recommended if: You want to just sleep in and travel in and out of the place often, or you want quick access to stores / shopping / restaurants.

Not at all good palace, where covid norms not followed, not at all worth.property not maintained at all.when we visit property they didn't in afternoon, we cant sit inside cottage because Ac not their.fan also too slow.we found many insect inside cottage, they not control on it, where they only one manpower who always saying we have another customer, where we booked 3 rooms out of 4.they didn't value customer at all.please don't visit here where saffron stay making money and making fool to customer.

Worthless, Lodge like experience, very exorbitant priced.room is worth for 1000 bucks and food is also overpriced.
Avoid to stay in saffron stays, very un professional attitude.

The location is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The food is also simple, local and tasty. The only issue I have is with the pricing. The stay plus food is very expensive for the service and facilities provided. Just the vegetarian food is BF = 250 + Lunch = 350 + Dinner = 350 per person.if you order non-veg like fish/meat then the additional charges according to the Fish rate are added. Additionally, if you are taking your pet along, per day 500 for the pet is charged, which does not include pet food, the cost is just for your pet stay

This place is very far from all the beaches. First of all this place is really expensive and not worth visiting. It says it is surrounded by three rivers but only one and the view is not great. Please don’t book this place. The owner and the host are also not cooperative. We don’t have any option to commute to other places. Location details provided are also not correct. Room is also very small doesn’t matches with the pictures provided. Worst experience of my life. They charged 9k for one night for three people. They won’t even provide extra bed they just give one useless mattress.

When we wanted to visit udipi with my family of four my better half and my two little children mainly for the krishna temple, i was looking for a unique place to stay in close to nature, so that i can keep my restless kids occupiedand interested, and i had plans to cover most temples nearby, so when i was searching for places i came across this place, i was smitten by the beautiful pics with stunning views, so finally went ahead and booked the same for three nights, even though the reviews weren't great, so finally when we entered the island mudukuduru, where the villa is located in our cab we crossed through a few old bridges, a whole lot of coconut trees, and a few strange and unique little temples, a very rustic place with old quaint houses scattered around, so finally when we got a glimpse of our villa where we had to spend the rest of the three days, we were a little disappointed as in the pictures the building def looked much better and upscale where as in real the building was ok, so finally when we took the spiral metal staircase and entered our room, again we were disappointed not because they didnt have an ac, we were well aware of the same but it didn't look that appealing as it was in pictures, so slowly came to terms with reality that we didnt book a great place and def not value for money, then me and my energetic kids started to slowly explore the place and thats when the beauty started revealing itself gradually, we walked up to the wooden deck facing the river and thats one of the best views we came accross, and then the beautiful sunsets started appearing, and then next morning when i went for my morning walks in that island i was trully impressed, i saw a whole lot of majestic and beautiful peacocks and peahens on the road, on farms lands on old roof tops, it was a while since we had seen the birds near peoples habitats, the island had around 50 odd houses, having their own old wells and their own tulsi kota painted in rustic red colour, the people living their were very friendly and religious and warm, they were early risers and were content and peaceful unlike the tribes living in the city, i c ame across small strange temples amidst shrubs and greenery, unpretentious people looking for a rustic place in the lapse of mother nature with stunning views to uplift your soul, and a quiet and peaceful place will be more than satisfied, but people expecting the facilities and luxuries of the upscale hotel will be def dissaponited, the food served their was wholesome and freshly prepared by the caretakers, but the taste may not suit most people esp people who love spicy food like us, but for a few days nothing to complain of although it was a little bland an sweet for our tastebuds, i have to mention mr prasanth the manager of the property who was ever willing to help and guide us, the morning he took us to the delta beach, kodi bangre absolutely stunning beach with soft white sand, it was like we had our own private beach its a short 10 minute drive from the villa.on the way we went to the famous hanging bridge and also tried kayaking which was memorable and dirt cheap its a must try for people who havnt tried it, yet we did find the prices per night a but overpriced for the basic room and amenities that were provided but where they compensate for is the rustic and beautiful and stunning views and solitude which the hungry city dwellers seek so badly, so people who are planning to stay and explore udipi and the temples and beaches i suggest them to stay a day or two in the well established hotels in the proper udipi town, because the can easily see the famous krishna temple and the other temples nearby by walk or autorikshaw, because the villa is a good 10 km from the udipi town, and then to relax and experince mother nature at its best they can stay for a couple of days at this place to reset and completely relax, my only suggestion to the managemnt is please please have an air conditioner installed

While the place is amazing and the hosts are good, the place is not worth the price for the reasons I am gonna mention now. Firstly, the bed was not properly made or dusted. If had bugs and flies. There were rodents in the bathroom and the bathroom did not have a bath room mat either. There wasn't a mini fridge in the room either. Nor was their any air conditioning. The tv was not working and when we mentioned it they said that the tv is going to be installed in sometime.the new TV box was just lying in the room. And the man came and started drilling the wall and mounting the tv while we were there. So it was a lot of disturbance. The wifi was in the floor below and hence the tv could not catch the signal.as the tv was new we tried setting the wifi and downloading the apps on the tv and after it did not connect we had to connect our mobile Hotspot and even after that the tv would not even cast. So all these trial and error wasted a good 2 hours of our time there. For the amount charged for a night, we expect a little more than just a ordinary room with bath towels. We pay that much for the experience along with the view. The view was amazing but the experience was equally disappointing.

Lovely place hidden within the coconut trees very close to Udupi/Manipal, right by the River Suvarna. Stayed here with a couple of friends to catch up. Had a nice, quite holiday spending time by walking around the winding roads, watching the river flow by sitting on the nice gazebo and star gazing in the nights.

Food served is local cuisine cooked by the care-taker. Very delicious and homely.

The place is clean and comfortable, making it a good option for a relaxing holiday.

Their pricing is on the higher side (closer to premium), when you consider that even breakfast is not part of the plan! Irony is, I booked through Airbnb!
