Disheartening Experience at this hospital (S C S Hosptal, Mangalore)

I recently had a distressing experience at this hospital that compelled me to share my thoughts. My Cousine, who is in a difficult financial situation, had to admit his mother due to a critical condition. The entire ordeal was emotionally and financially draining for us.

During the discharge process, we mustered the courage to request a discount, given our challenging circumstances. To our dismay, the hospital staff, particularly the MD, responded with utter rudeness. The MD outright insulted us, claiming to have no time for a discussion about a potential discount.

In times of vulnerability, one expects a certain level of empathy and understanding from healthcare professionals. Unfortunately, our encounter at S
C S Hospital left us disheartened and questioning the humaneness of the healthcare system. It is my hope that sharing this experience serves as a reminder for the need for compassion, especially in critical situations.

Certainly, I didn't get a chance to meet your CMD in person. I was informed that he's a prominent doctor and doesn't have time for direct patient interactions. It left me wondering, if being a doctor means not having time for patients, what's the essence of the profession? Our conversation was limited to a phone call where he conveyed that there was no time to discuss the matter. Perhaps, if we were new admissions, he might have found the time for a conversation.

1. Despite a substantial bill exceeding 1.5 L, the hospital administration failed to provide any reasonable discount, leaving me dissatisfied with their apparent lack of consideration for financial strains on patients.
2. Promised a 4k discount after full payment, but encountered a breach of commitment as they only offered 3k when collecting the discount today. This inconsistency raises concerns about their integrity.
3. Experienced a frustrating scenario where the initially promised 4k discount was reduced to 3k upon collection. Such discrepancies erode trust and reflect poorly on the hospital's commitment to customer satisfaction.
4. Disheartening lack of responsibility from the hospital administration, especially in the way they handled commitments and failed to provide clarity on discounts. A more accountable approach is expected.
5. Disappointed by the disrespectful behavior exhibited by the hospital staff (not all) towards patients. A more respectful and compassionate approach is imperative in a healthcare setting to ensure a positive patient experience.

My mother baby was admitted in this hospital. Dr rohith pinto treated my mother very well.she was recovered in just 2 days. He is a friendly as well as excellent Dr in mangalore. My heartfelt thanks to him. I suggest anyone who is in need of medicine service to consult Dr rohith pinto

One of the worst hospital for a patient. The nurses are least bothered to care or to come and check the patient on time. You have to literally go and wake them up to come and check the temperature or remove the iv drips once it is over.

Worst experience that I have ever seen. My 2 months old child had cough problem and got admitted at S. C. S. It is unfortunate that the hospital charged 27000/- only for 2.5 days.
Worst experience I ever had in this hospital. My two month old baby had to be admitted for sputum problem, 27000/- was billed only for 2.5 days, and even after being discharged without giving proper medicine, he came two times. Instead of service, this hospital is very hurtful.

I can honestly say we are highly impressed the sort of services they offer. All staffs are very polite and professional, front desk who helped us with smooth admission process with allocating room near to Labour ward which was very hassle free. Special thanks to LT staffs. Even had some discharge confusions billing went on smooth process and quick. Really wanna thank you Dr. Vrinda Shetty Thank you all for the timely help and treatment.

Everything is good except, there is no mosquito net in windows.it would be good if they put nets in all room windows.

Could have not even star 1, no single doctor's available after 8pm. Dr Pinto is only general physicians at day. If you get surgery in this hospital your surgeon will not be contacted by nurse or night duty doctor. Dr pinto will not answer his phone once he left from hospital. If you ask him what update he got since he left from hospital and return back in morning, he is nul batta santa with zero info in his head. Please personal bad experience dont take your self into grave if you wanna live your life. Specially never choose SCS Hospital and Dr. Ashfaque Mohammed from unity hispital he is one of the worst surgeon i met.

We lost our family member due to no in-house doctor available in time of emergencies. Please think twice.

Wanted to give zero star but there is no such option. One of the worst hospitals very irresponsible staff personnel suggestion visit at ur own risk in short visit if u want to die

Avoid this hospital.all the doctors are visiting.management doesn't take any responsibility for visiting doctors and visiting doctors tell ask management about any problem.it's a loop of lies and unprofessional work culture

The hospital does not have a Breastfeeding room. There are so many infants and toddlers visiting this hospital on any given day when I wanted to nurse my baby I was asked to use a room across their pharmacy which sadly has no ventilation and the room is very very dirty with hair, change of clothes on hangers, hospital laundry dumped in a drum, a broken chair for the mums to sit and feed the baby.however I will have to take my baby there as it has one of the best paediatrician.

Good care and hospitality. Experienced doctors.neat and clean room.helpful nurses. Dr. Chandrasekhar J. Sorake is incredible.nice environment.and reasonable price.

"Visited this hospital today for an Overall Health Checkup, the staff in the reception area clearly explained me on all the health packages.
Opted for an executive health package. The registration and billing process was quick. The prices were reasonable. All the tests were done smoothly without much wait. Thanks to Shreeja for helping out through out the checkup.

I have undergone Hernia surgery in SCS hospital recently. The service by all the staff is excellent.
Right from the reception counter I got very good service in various tests like scanning, ultrasound, xray etc. Nurses and post operative staff are also good. One sister by name Shanti was very nice in post operative ward.
The nurses and house keeping service also good
My special thanks to Dr HarischandraB, surgeon, Dr Venugopal, Physician, Dr Padmanabha Bhat, Anaesthesist and entire team of surgery.
Billing and insurance was also done within normal period.
One more thing I want to mention is about the hospital canteen. The quality of food in the canteen is also good and healthy. I have seen some other hospitals canteen in Mangalore where the quality of food is not good.
But this canteen is good and patient food is also available in reasonable price.
I thank and appreciate the management for good administration.

Hospital is neat and clean, nurses and house keeping staff very helpful and cordial. Canteen facility and rooms are affordable and well maintained. Sufficient parking space, visit for quality treatment on time, has all infrastructure, lab machines etc. Dr. Chandrasekhar J. Sorake is incredible. Not only has he taken great care of my families health, but also he is lovely to speak with at every appointment. Thank you.

Hospital is extremely clean and neat.even staffs and doctors are good.but I had taken my mom, we had to wait for long time for one doctor who spoke very rudely to my mom. I who was sitting outside could hear it.he was in hurry also. I felt really bad!
as we pay and in return we get treated like this!

Worst hospital management.they charged 280 rs just for pricking injection where we only got the injection from the pharmacy and separate 150rs for hospital card where we hadn't even consulted any doctor there and been to an emergency just to have a injection.

Very good hospital with excellent staff and doctors. Only they must serve food for patients as they know best the diet for their patients. Overall excellent value for money and professional service.

I got admitted for the delivery of my First child. The Hospital is maintained neat and clean with affordable rooms. Excellent and smiling services from all staff. Keep it up.

A bad experience. You ask for a detailed bill breakdown and the staff becomes uncooperative. Unnecessary charges levied. A mere minor procedure billed for ₹10,400/-. Avoid this hospital. If you do not have any other option, do a detailed analysis of the bills presented. You have the right to question them

The hospital is good and treating better.but the canteen is so worst and filled with cocroaches and i saw when a person asked about hygiene of the canteen to the cashier/staff, they said this is normal in canteen and even hospital has cockroaches and they are least bothered about hygiene and arrogant behaviour towards patient parties.im not sure how bad would be the cooking area when lots of cocroaches are moving in the sitting area. In the stay of 15 days in hospital i saw the canteen staff scolding and bieng arrogant to patient parties/elderly people's many times. Would expect hospital management to consider this review for the betterment of hospital standards and quality of food provided to patients.

Great Birth Experience!
With Dr Meera Shreeram and hospital delivery nurse team around I gave birth to baby boy on 12th September, normal delivery.
Amazing team work, with great care and attention. Post delivery also good care and services, with normal running price.

My first experience of SCS Hospital was when I got admitted on 18th July 2022 for undergoing diagnostic tests for a Gastro Intestinal issue.
I must say I was highly impressed by all aspects about the hospital, starting with spacious parking lot, caring and polite staff,
cleanliness and hygiene, very convenient and well maintained rooms, good quality palatable food of the canteen and most of all, the dynamic, patient-centric
Dr. Chandrashekhar, Clinical Director of the hospital who was my treating doctor.

I applaud his conduct of putting me at ease and his assurance of successful treatment of my issue, when I was going through a lot of anxiety about the invasive test that was not proceeding smoothly. Thank you, Doctor.

I also realised that he expects the best service from his staff which speaks a lot of his leadership qualities. After all, a team is only as good as its leader.

To start with positives. One of the cleanest hospitals in mangalore.rooms r spacious airy n veryy hygienic. Nurses r good n polite.my daughter had 103.7 fevr for 7 days n hence was admitted here. First she was sent to PICU where 2 hrs was wasted. Craziest protocol ever seen. A parent is not allowed inside the closet room where blood samples r taken and cannula r inserted. This is the place where all kids need their parents.all process done here.the most craziest part. The needle which is being used here to insert in drips pack in this PICU room is just packed in polythene n kid is shifted to 2nd floor room. Come on in today's modern times u take this high risk of using same needle.u can just dispose it n new one can be used. Possibilities r there of needles getting misplaced even by mistake.whyyyyyyyy such careless process.when u charge so high when compared to other hospitals, maintain that professionalism as well. Sorry seeing this I will never ever enter this hospital. Also on Sundays if there is discharge, there is no process to try for your claims. U need to stay back 1 more day to apply via claims process. Even admission process is so tedious. I had to leave my daughter in PICU and run around from ground floor to 5th floor. Phewwww

My 1 year old child was admitted here in this hospital, to keep it short … Every hospital management should come to SCS and learn how to run a medical institution. Nowadays medical is become a business and there no mercy when it come to the patient and there family! Truly grateful how my child was treated and how politely the staff handled us when we were angry, worried and at time shouted at them! From the patient registration process to discharge all went perfectly smoothly and they even refunded my balance from deposit I paid earlier during admission! Price is very reasonable and affordable for the common man! God bless the management and staff at SCS now my child is well and happy!

Doctors are good, but reception and billing staffs are not doing the procedures soon.they are taking time to chit chat with others and not doing their work on time.it took more than 3 hours just for billing after the discharge.and they don't even have a proper billing system.that they mugged up the advance I paid in the final billing.so I took another hour to dig through the whole process!
Nurses are doing their job well.

Yesterday I went to SCS hospital with my wife. She was suffering from cold and fever. As soon as we entered into causality 4 of them rushed towards her. They were about to take ECG and blood test for cold and synus ️. OMG, and reason they said for taking ECG was that she is sweating. She made them understand that it's because of hot climate (we reached there by afternoon and climate was too hot and humid). LOL.

SCS staffs drama continues. In usual case for fever and cold Dr.used to check whether any infection is there using stethoscope. But all consulting was done by nurse taking instructions from an invisible Dr. Kishan kumar. We didn't see him, didn't talk to him.
But hospital didn't show any negligence for taking Rs. 400 as consultation fees. (Lol) ️

As my wife handled the situation wisely we saved from a bill of Rs. 5000.
Note: Be aware of your issue before reaching SCS hospital, otherwise they will scan, test, squeeze you from top to bottom. All the best review reader.

I went to scs hospital on june 24 with various gastric related issues, i had these issues since 5-6 years and as local doctor asked to meet gastroenterologist went here, I met dr.chandrashekara sorake (had bit fear when i enter to hospital if they do wanted tests). After initial tests i doctor suggested me to have colonoscopy immediately, and for that admitted for a day as pre-procedure for it, now am in treatement based on the results (came out as IBD), am after 15 days medication am lot lot better, i had health issues since 6 years, consulted several doctors/hospitals spent alot, but none of them able to find out root issue/proper treatment, Now coming back to hospital, this is one of the best hospital in mangalore, i never seen any doctors like mr.chandrashekar sorake, i.e. Calm, polite, even in his busy schedule he is spending enough time for each patient to listening properly (i have seen many doctors in my past experience most of them did not had even time too to listen), hospital facility (neat and clean) /all staffs are very friendly, Highly recommended to who are looking for good gastroenterologist.

I had admitted my father who is 86 years old for an illness. He was in this hospital for nearly a month. Hospital has a very good team of Doctors and Nurses. Specially the nursing staff is very patient, caring and highly responsive. Whenever we rang the bell, they are immediately there and extended all care that is needed. Overall hospital is very clean. Cost is reasonable.
Probably this is the only hospital in the middle of the city with ample parking space as well.

This hospital has one of the worst management and heartless staffs ever! There's no proper organised procedure. They just make you run here and there during admision. The reception staffs are very rude and unorganised. The doctors who come here are good but I wouldn't suggest you to get admitted to this hospital.

I had taken my small child. The nurse was very trained to treat the child. Very good pediatrician. Very clean hospital. Good staff. Good service. They also have medicals. They also have blood checkup inside the hospital itself. Good treatment.

Excellent staff (everyone including the nurses, admins, housekeeping, pharmacy, security, Central store and reception), and very good & affordable service overall. The management's mantra of "Service to Mankind is Service is God" very clearly percolates all the way. Do continue to provide the excellent service that you've been providing now for years. Very good hospitality received. Appreciate the quick response to emergency cases.doctors (Dr. Kishen Prem, Dr. Pradeep Shenoy), nurses and other staffs are friendly. Morning shift PRO was very humble and responded very well to the complaint raised. Receptionist Vidya was very friendly and responsive.
Staffs in insurance claim department are supportive and informative but the claiming process is lengthy and delaying.

I have admitted my father for hernia operation and they gave very good service throughout the stay in the hospital. Nurses were well trained and took all the responsibilities after the operation. I have never seen such responsible people around us all the time in other hospitals. Nurses were monitoring the condition every 45 minutes in the night and gave all the support needed without the necessity of doing anything from our side. They quietly listened to all our queries and gave enough confidence as required. Big thanks to the Doctor who handled this operation effectively. Keep up the good work and continue this support.

Its not the first time i have been to this hospital. Earlier i had been there with my mother, now with my 18yr old son. Hence when my son's ENT Surgeon Dr. Mahesh Shantaraya suggested this hospital for the surgery, i was more than elated as my first experience with this hospital and the staff when i went with my mother was truly great.
How do i start? From where?

1) The Director Ms. Roopa Sorake, whom i don't know personally helped me put acroos the Mediclaim dept for the pre-approval of my insurance. An extremely approachable person, who i have understood by my short stay is quite meticulous when it comes to the working of the hospital.

2) The mediclaimdept who explained me all the details so well and helped me throughout with the paperwork.

3) The Admin staff, the registration, billing Pharmacy all of them very promt and saw to it only minimal tome was taken for the admission as well as discharge.

4) The Medical team drom the Casualty staff, Doctor on Duty, Nursing Head, Nursing staff, Ot staff all of them so very agile, and amiable. Always deligently they were there to help and share my concerns as i was all all there with my son.

5) The Non- medical Team especially the Pro was there to come over and see to it that my son and me were comfortable enough, and understanding that we both were alone, offered all kind of assistance and help.
The support staff too were very very approachable and helpful.

6) The 24X7 Canteen there a huge huge reprise for the patient and bystanders.extremely affordable price too.

7) The security personnel who helped me out to fetch a Auto, as it was raining heavily and it was quite late in the evening, when i had visited the hospital 1day prior to the surgery.

8) Our Doctor Dr. Mahesh Shantaraya, who always was available on phone and also explained the whole procedure so well and also made my son and me quite comfortable. We can't thank him enough.

My tryst with this hospital is so very comfortable one unlike the experiences i have had with many other hospitals in Mangalore city. I definitely would love to suggest SCS Hospital to be one of the best hospital with regards to Staff, Dr's, and cost.
