It's so beautiful n divine place but we humans polluting, so much of plastic none of the govt cleaned or atleast restricted plastic, so pls keep clean it's ours

U should climb the hill around 5-6km,
Seriously its wonderful 1 day trip aroun Bangalorian's, and 2 day rest.

Its a very beautiful place, best time to visit is early morning, please donot take eatables with you coz monkeys gonna attack you, better to take a water bottle. And please donot throw plastic bottle say not to plastic.

NH4 towards Tumkur), Shivaganga Hill lies at an altitude of 4599 ft and it is a good short trekking destination near Bangalore and a popular tourist place to visit near Bangalore.

There are also two Shiva temples, one very close to the foot of the hill, called Shivaganga Temple and another one at top of the hill, called Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple. The unique feature of the hill is that it looks like a bull from the East, a Ganesha from the West, a Linga from the South and a cobra from the North. A set of well laid steps will lead you to the top of hill where the shrine of Gavi Gangadhareshwara Cave temple is situated. There is a ruined fort at the bottom of the hill near Shivaganga Temple.

Mesmerizing view from the peak. It was very thrilling to trek though the very steep rocks. Great experience. Great place for one day trip. Start the trekking around 5: 30am. There are many shops which offers tummy full of food in the route for genuine cost. Very nice people.

Shivagange Hill is about 149 km from Mysuru and 52km from Bengaluru. The sacred mountain is shaped as a shivalingam and a spring flows near locally called "Ganga", thereby by giving the place its name. The area is a popular site for rock climbing. The entire trail to the peak is well marked and the presence of man-made steps makes the trail suitable. On reaching the top, the view all around is more than worth all the efforts put into the climb. The looming clouds makes the view at the top simple breathtaking. Overall it is an calm and quiet place to relax

Shivagange hills is close to Tumkur. Situated on NH4, a little interior drive from NH4. This place is must visit for those who loves trecking and view points. It has Nandi and Shiva temple on the peak. View from the top is beautiful.

A very nice trek but a tiresome one because of the incline. Start the climb at 4.30am to be able to reach the top for a splendid view of the sunrise. There are food stalls on the way and on the top for snacks n beverages.

The shivagange is also called as dakshina kaashi. Here paatala gange and so many temples are their to visit. The shivagange special is hill view. You have to climb the hill up to top and in top tier is a temple and a nandi statue is their and hill view also their in top. This place is near to Bangalore, from Bangalore you can come by bus, train or car. If you come from bus or train you have to change vehicle in dabaspete place. After dabaspete direct shivagange hill auto are available. Here afternoon they are giving food but it is limited to time means after some time the food won't be available. Though there is no signboard or inscription, only if we have any idea of the history, we will have to ask the vendors who run small shops on the journey.

Shantala drop is at the peak of shivagange hills. It's quite a trek to reach the peak and the view from the peak is very beautiful one can enjoy pleasant breeze. The name shantala drop because one of queen named shantala committed suicide at this hill top.

As we all know it's best place for trucking with family and friends, when we are climbing we come across many small shops which sell water bottle and snacks, most of the people carry the water bottles to the top of the hill and throw them from this "Shantala drop" for fun but please keep in mind whatever the nature u enjoyed today will not be for tomorrow if u throw the plastic around the place because plastic in the nature will reduce the rainfall in this place, gradually the place will lose its beauty. Previously I took part in cleaning the base of "shantala drop" point we collected a huge amount of plastic which was thrown by the visitors like u and me.

Carry a plastic bag while climbing and whatever u use put it in the bag and carry back to the bottom of the hills and dump it in the dustbin.

ಹಾಗೆ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಏರುತ್ತಾ ಹೋದರೆ ಒಂದು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಬಂಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂದಿ ವಿಗ್ರಹವಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಹಾಕುವುದೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾಹಸದ ಕೆಲಸ. ಕಾಲು ಇಡಲು ಕೂಡ ಜಾಗ ಚಿಕ್ಕದು ಹಾಗು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ಆಳವಾದ ಪ್ರಪಾತ. ನಂತರ ಮುಂದುವರೆದರೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಗಂಗಾಧರೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯ ನೋಡಬಹುದು
ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಜನವರಿ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಸಂಕ್ರಾಂತಿ ಹಬ್ಬದ ದಿನ ಎರಡೂ ದೇವರುಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿವಾಹ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆ ದಿನ ಮುಂಜಾನೆ, ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಗಂಗಾ ಜಲ ಹೊರ ಹೊಮ್ಮುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದೇ ಜಲವನ್ನು ವಾದ್ಯಗೋಷ್ಠಿಗಳ ಸಹಿತದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಂದು ಅದೇ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀ ಹೊನ್ನಾದೇವಿಯನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಗಂಗಾಧರೇಶ್ವರನಿಗೆ ಧಾರೆ ಎರೆದು ಕೊಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಶಾಖಾ ಮಠವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಾರದಾಂಬೆಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ತೋಪಿನ ಗಣೇಶ ಬೃಹದಾಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ. 108 ಲಿಂಗಗಳನ್ನುಳ್ಳ ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯರ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಪಾತಾಳ ಗಂಗೆ ಇದ್ದು ಸದಾ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿಚಿತ್ರವೆಂದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು “ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕಾಶಿ” ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಒಂದೊಂದು ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಆಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋಚರಿಸುವ ಶಿವಗಂಗೆಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟ, ಸಕಲ ಚರಾಚರಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸೃಷ್ಠಿಕರ್ತನ ಸಾನ್ನಿಧ್ಯವಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವುದು ಶಿವಗಂಗೆಯ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯ. ಶಿವಗಂಗೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತರದಿಂದ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಸರ್ಪದಂತೆಯೂ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಿಂದ ಗಣೇಶನಂತೆಯೂ, ಪೂರ್ವದಿಂದ ನಂದಿಯಂತೆಯೂ, ಪಶ್ಚಿಮದಿಂದ ಲಿಂಗದಂತೆಯೂ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ.

“This is the most famous sculpture of the Chennakeshava temple, ” says the guide, pointing at a voluptuous dancer, etched in the ceiling of the entrance. “Shantala, King Vishnuvardhana’s main queen, built the surrounding spaces of this temple. She was a genius at mathematics and a gifted dancer and musician. ” The details, as far as our eyes, shaded from the sharp sun, can see, are astoundingly minute, created patiently by a talented sculptor working with soapstone. From the folds of her jewel-encrusted mini dress, to the leaves of the flowering tree that encompass her, and the way that she stands, her hedonistic body shaped S with a Barbie-thin waist, the sculptor’s imagination is vivid and full of grace. Even though she holds a mirror, in front of her, her face is more thoughtful than vain. Shantala’s figure comes repeatedly in the world famous Belur temple, in Karnataka, one of the finest creations of the Hoysala Kingdom, built in 1117 CE. Her legends have been immortalized in a book by KV Iyer called Natyarani Shantala, which was also televised recently.

The story goes that she was the talented daughter of a general in the Hoysala kingdom. She used to be such a good dancer that the Chalukya king threatened the Hoysala kingdom with a war, just to see her dance (for she would have to offer a sacred dance at the Lakshmi temple before the war). When King Vishnuvardhana first saw her dance, planned meticulously by his grandmother so he would fall for the girl and marry, he instantly fell for her. She refused the marriage, since both she and her best friend Lakshmi had danced together and she was a Jain while the king was a Vaishnava. To appease her, the king married not only her and Lakshmi, so they stay together as co-wives, but also five other girls from the same community. And he also let her keep her faith. King Vishnuvardhana made her his main queen, and she helped him in the administration of the kingdom as well as building temples around their capital city of Belur.

However, not everything was all right. Even after many years of marriage, she couldn’t produce a male heir for the kingdom and though she requested multiple times, her husband refused to denounce her and take on Lakshmi who was pregnant at the time, as his main queen. To get out of the way of her pregnant best friend and the husband she loved, she killed herself by jumping off Shivaganga, a tall hill near Bangalore, ruled by men and monkeys together.

ಹೊಯ್ಸಳರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದನಾದ ದೊರೆ ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನ . ಈತನ ಪತ್ನಿಯೇ ಶಾಂತಲೆ. ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಗಂಗರಾಜು. ಶಾಂತಲೆಯು ಭರತ ನಾಟ್ಯ ಪ್ರವೀಣೆ. ಶಿವಗಂಗೆಯ ದೇವಿಯ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನ ಅವಳು ನಾಟ್ಯ ವಾಡುವುದು ಅವಳ ದಿನ ನಿತ್ಯದ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ತನ್ನ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೊರ ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನ ಆ ದಿನ ಇಳಿ ಹೊತ್ತಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಶಿವಗಂಗೆಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ತಂಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.
ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಲಗಿರುವಾಗ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಯ ಸದ್ದಿಗೆ ಮನ ಸೋಲುತ್ತಾನೆ. ನಂತರ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗೆ ಇದರ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ತಿಳಿದು ಬರಲು ಕಳಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದ ಗಂಗರಾಜನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಚಕಿತನಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಸಹ ಬೆಟ್ಟದೆಡೆಗೆ ಧಾವಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವಳ ನಾಟ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸೋತ ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನನು ಅವಳ ಮೋಹಕ್ಕೆ ಬಲಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ಅವಳನ್ನೇ ವಿವಾಹವಾಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನೇ ಪಟ್ಟದರಸಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.  
ತನ್ನ ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೇ ಅವಳ ನಾಟ್ಯ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅವಳನ್ನು ನಾಟ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ರಾಜನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವಳು ರಾಜನೂ, ಪತಿಯೂ ಆದ ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸಲು ನೃತ್ಯ ಮಾಡಲು ಒಪ್ಪುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನನು ಸಿದ್ದಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವಳ ಮೋಹಕವಾದ ನೃತ್ಯಕ್ಕ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಮನಸೋಲುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವಳ ನೃತ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲರ ನಯನಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬುತ್ತದೆ.

ಇದೆಲ್ಲದರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿಯೂ, ಅದ್ಭುತ ಕಲೆಗಾರನೂ ಆದ ಜಕಣಾಚಾರಿಯು ಅವಳ ನೃತ್ಯ ನೋಡಿ ಅವಳ ನೃತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸೋತು ಅವಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೋಹ ಉಂಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.   ನಂತರ ಅವಳ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿನ್ನ ತರಹದ ಶಿಲ್ಪವೊಂದನ್ನು ಕೆತ್ತಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆ ಇದೆಯೇ? ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವಳೂ ಹಿಂದೂ ಮುಂದೆ ನೋಡದೆ ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನನ ಅನುಮತಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಅವಳು ರಾಜನ ಕೆಂಗಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಗುರಿ ಆಗಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ರಾಜನು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸುತರಾಂ ಒಪ್ಪುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಅವಳು ರಾಜನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ದಿಕ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದ ಹಾಗೆ ಜಕಣಾಚಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿ ಮಾಡಿ ನೃತ್ಯ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದ ಭಂಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಶಿಲಾಬಾಲಕಿಯ ರೂಪು ಕೊಡಲು ಜಕಣಾಚಾರಿಗೆ ನೆರವಾಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಗಂಗರಾಜನ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿದು ರಾಜನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ರಾಜನು ಶಾಂತಲೆಯನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸಲು ಆರಂಭವಾದ ನಂತರ ಅವಳು ತನ್ನ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು ಉಪವಾಸ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ನಂತರ ಅವಳು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ತನ್ನ ತವರೂರಾದ ಶಿವಗಂಗೆಯ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆಯಲೋಸುಗ ಶಿವಗಂಗೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಏರುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದ ನಂತರ ಒಂದು ಕಡಿದಾದ ಜಾಗದಿಂದ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅಸು ನೀಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಆ ತುತ್ತ ತುದಿಯೇ ಇಂದಿನ ಶಾಂತಲ ಡ್ರಾಪ್.
