Amazing place to hang out with family and friends. Food was delicious (veg and non veg). Kind and hospitable staff.

Splendid place amongst nature with river flowing next to the resort. Has a very friendly staff who take care of your needs. The food is sumptuous and has loads of variety. Excellent job by the chef and team in preparing delectable delicacies each say for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It has a huge area when compared to only 7 rooms and gives you a feeling of being free and one with nature. Temperature controlled swimming pool overlooking the river and the jungle is just the icing on the top.

A great river side place to keep yourself away from rest of the world and to mesmerize the beauty of nature. A very unique infrastructure, you'll love it.

Cannot give review without staying here. One of my wishlist property to stay here. Since it us temporarily closed until Feb 2020, this review stands good as if Dec 2020 to end of Feb 2021. As of now, other than 3 stars I can't think of anything as there is no option to skip the rating.

The overall experience is great in this place. Food quality is also outstanding. The view from resort to the river at its side is nice. Serving staffs over there is also very respectful. The plantation visit is quite explanatory and very useful too. Only thing to consider is that the way to resort from main road is little narrow.

Good property to stay. Located about a hour from chikmaglur.the property is inside coffee plantation and near banks of river bhadra. Inside the homestay, no traffic sound and you blend with nature. Cottages are big and clean. Staff is friendly and supportive. Food is excellent.

Thank you for making our stay very pleasant and memorable. The staffs were very welcoming, friendly and accommodated to our needs and requests. I also have to highlight the authenticity of local Indian cuisine/buffet served at the homestay. The riverside was lovely as well as the guided tour of the coffee plantation. Homestay to travellers who are looking for a retreat getaway or a stop in at Chikmangalur to experience a such wonderful hospitality.

On a side note, what i felt could be improved is the maintenance and soundproofing of some rooms especially the 'Dena' villas which is below the wooden villas as it can be quite disturbing for the guest.

Amazing place to visit.amidst the lap of nature nestled in between beautiful coffee estates on the western ghats region.definitely a worth visit. Food could have been better.

Great place to unwind and spend lazy holidays.

Being in so much of isolation and close to nature, a few activities for guests would have made the stay more amazing.

There are few items to play, but mostly kids centric.

Location is very far from main Chikmagalur hence if you wish to explore any tourist spots you'll need to spend a lot of time in travel. In short not the best location if you wish to cover multiple spots. Distance like 40-50km makes it time consuming.

Food needs a lot of improvement in taste and options, specially breakfast even though list of items was hard to enjoy them.

Please don't serve the rice chapati in evening which becomes too hard immediately when cold.

Its beside the river, which is one of the best thing here. The homestay is clean and absolutely 10/10 in terms of sending time in nature.

Nice place to stay. Its near Bhadra River and you can see the river flowing next to your cottage. Food options are limited but they maintain good quality. Activities are dependent on the climate and time you travel so please check it with them before planning.

Beautiful place which is situated inside a Huge Coffee estate very much next to Bhadra river. Lot of cottages available starting from 2 men cottages to huge cottages with group of 25 members. Some of the Cottages like Areca Cottage, Glass cottages have a beautiful balcony view of Bhadra river. It's a treat to watch the scenic beauty. Cottages are damn beautiful spacious n very well maintained. Food also very tasty n mouthwatering. A must visit place for total relaxation and to enjoy the scenic beauty at it's best.

Good experience, except for the food. None of the dishes served was good. Their buffet was OK. Additionally ordered dishes were not good at all. Rating is only for the rooms.

Set amidst 50 acres of Coffee estate on the banks of river Badra is this home stay. Nice place to spend weekend

Homestay is cool and clam. Well organised and excellent service.
No need to go outside of homestay, Bhadra river s beside so can spend lot a time over there. Food is Good but few dishes are not upto mark (as per chikkmagaluru region they prepare with less spicy). Because of food and less activity i gave 4 star otherwise its 5 star homestay.one more thing we need to pay full amount before checkin.

One of the worst places I’ve ever been too. I checked out of this place in one hour’s time. The plates they serve are extremely unhygienic and food was cold and bad. The manager there didn’t even care about me leaving but was more worried of the refund. An absolute loss of 7.5 for an hour’s pathetic experience

Nice place for corporate outings if you can spend 2 days. Next to a river and inside a coffee plantation. Staff are good.

Firstly I want to say the location is good and resort has no activities to do. If you go in a group its of waste and you feel bored. The stay was average. Food was not at all good, too oily and for non vegetarians only one chicken gravy they will serve and the flesh wont be fresh. We have stayed there for 2 days the food is repeated.the left over evenings mushroom curry they served for next day lunch. Management is so aggressive, he wont talk to customer in a polite way.but the workers are really good I think management has to learn from them.

Actually we have a bathroom bad aroma coming out of room so requested to change of room, the room availability was also there but management lied and didn't respond properly.

Just a suggestion to the traveler kindly don't spent too much money on staying here.with less price you will get lot more options to choose.

One of the most relaxing stays i have ever been to! Its a highly recommended place. It is located on the Bhadra river bank which makes it more soothing and peaceful. I enjoyed my stay there. Meals are expensive there. 500 bucks each meal. As it is also located into the woods, there is nothing around the homestay. So make sure either you carry some food with you or be prepared to pay for the expensive food.

We were looking for clean green pollution free place away from city noise. It was ideal place for us. Nice cottages Staff welcomed us lot of smile and warmth Made all effort to make us comfortable. It was great trip We enjoyed. However person involved in booking Mr Sujit was very rude and made lot of fuss. Did not attend our call on reaching site and did not provide any other contact. Also last 1.8kms is kucha path and does not have any street light and lack of Network Few sign boards though not sufficient was of great help. The only advice to visitors is that reach before dark. Also drive slowly on lacuna road Overall great trip

Excellent stay and it's a resort (not homestay) with awesome weather. Staff are very friendly and kind. Value for money. Food is mouth watering. Overall Must visit place.

To start with the drive, the roads are very nice to drive except a few areas where water clog is there but not for a very long time. The resort is in the heart of the forest literally! Covered with trees and only trees. You can take vehicles, they have parking space too.
Ours was a log house.
Rooms are very neat including the washrooms.
You will find a few bugs since its a forest.
Food was also good. Very homely.
They have trekking and campfire at the concerned timings.
Now the thing that scared me the most was in the middle of the night around 1 AM, someone started banging on our door very badly. For some good 10 mins.
We couldn't hear any footsteps. Not sure if it was an animal or a human.
Again few lighter bangs at 3 am. We tried calling the receptionist but no-one picked up. Again at 6 am few lighter bangs.
The guy came later and told us, there is a big dog who does that but i am sure it wasnt a dog.
So I would suggest be a little careful.
This is the only thing which I did not like.
They should either warn people or pick up the call since people wouldn't know what to do next in such a situation.
Apart from that, it's a good getaway spot. Peaceful and serene.

The place is very beautiful and natural! It is very calming! There is a river where you can enjoy swimming there! There is plantation walk! There is also Rock-Climbing!

We have opted for glass house at shantikunj.location of the property is good. It was a worst experience, the whole room was filled with bug like insects as the roof of the room was covered with grass and palm leaves covered with tin shed so the insects were falling from the roof on the bed, sofa and in our bags and entire floor. Staff is useless, rude and unprofessional. There is no service available. When we told them about the problem, they said we are not the owners, we cannot help as nothing is in our hands and they don't have alternative accommodation they also claim all the river facing rooms are infested with insects but still they are the fast selling rooms so we are not interested in your complain and reviews. Food was average. Last 1 km approach road is rough. Parking is available. Would not advice fellow travellers for this home stay as electrical wires for the room lighting were laid on the roof which is covered with dry grass and dry palm leaves which are highly inflamble can be dangerous. As the care taker Mr Vincent and the lady at the reception where telling us how the whole restaurant burnt down few months back due to fire mishap.

My family and me really enjoyed our stay in Shanthi Kunnj, the staff & care taker took good care of us.

Our stay was so peaceful and divine. We visited during June, 2019 however to enjoy the resort to its glory would be in December, where all activities: water rafting, mountain climbing, rappelling, Coracle ride, etc is possible.

Areas of improvement: We had kids aged 2,6 & 8 years from overseas so food should be prepared to also adjust to kids taste & liking, like cereals for breakfast, less spicy food, etc

Thank you for hosting us. The place was lovely, and quite peaceful. However, we had major issues with the dinner. Paid 400 per person for the dinner. When we called your reception before coming, we were told paneer and mushroom dishes will be served. Instead there was uncooked bhindi, parwal and all the other dishes tasted really bad. There were insects in our food as well. Could have atleast served complementary tea/coffee.

Place is good but service is very bad and they need to improve a lot on Food. Very bad food taste i experienced. Came up with a lot of expectation but very disappointed.

It's a beautiful place surrounded by lush green and the passing by river.

Room are neat and clean, Peaceful atmosphere and close to nature. Friendly and helpful staffs. You can heard the sound of birds and runing river!

This place is about 20 mins in the hinterland from the highway but it's a pretty property and the staff are very good, esp. Prem Kumar and Vincent. If you have any out of the box request, do tell them - they'll try to get it done. Also, the cottage is located on the banks of a river so the calmness of this place is disproportionately high. It's slightly expensive but sure, it's worth the money. (7500 for triple sharing in the cottage).

We stayed in Shanthi Kunnj homestay recently for 2 days. It was a great experience for the entire family, the whole family loved it. We are two families with little kids. We happened to stay in their deluxe cottages, tent house, areca house and Log house - all of them were finely setup along with all the necessary amenities including a dedicated power inverter as there is usually regular power cuts in that area. The tent house and Areca house are facing Bhadra river and you can hear the sound of river water flowing even during the nights which is an experience by itself. Log houses are quite large and in fact can hold 4 adults too. Deluxe cottages are recently built and have modern amenities. All the rooms have large sit-outs to sit back, relax and enjoy with your family. Kids had a lovely time as there was lot of open area to play around and explore. We also had a great time in the bhadra river walk and coffee plantation session. The care taker Mr. Vincent was such a gentleman who understands everyone's needs and goes all the way out to help out. We had a situation where our driver had viral fever and he went out of the way to arrange medical facility help and arrange alternate driver for us. Much appreciated sir!

One minor drawback is - this place is far away from chikmagalur town (1 hr) and from the main road, it is roughly 2kms drive inside on a rough road which could be little scary if you check-in late in the night (like what we did) ; but let me tell you, once you enter the property, you will forget everything and it is worth every penny!

If we get a chance again, we would definitely come back and enjoy this little paradise.

Loved our stay over there.very good environment.sleeping amidst listening to the sounds of the gushing bhadra river is definitely a bliss.

No place to come in group, fire camp is available, boating, river side trekking in the morning, nature visit, swimming in rivers, food is decent, friendly staff, coffee plantation visit, table tennis court is available, cons: No swimming pool. Recommended for couples.
