Disappointing Dining Experience at Overhyped Restaurant

I arrived at the restaurant around 1: 30 after a 45-minute journey, lured by its reputation as the go-to place for biryani and mutton dishes. Prior to my visit, I had perused the reviews, knowing that I would encounter a lengthy queue. However, it was a food reviewer's recommendation that convinced me to give it a try.

Upon my initial impression, I was taken aback by the seemingly endless queue stretching outside the restaurant. To my relief, it turned out to be a queue for takeout orders, so I proceeded indoors. Surprisingly, there was no organized queuing system or token system inside. Instead, patrons stood near occupied tables, hoping to snag a seat as soon as one became available. This unconventional approach struck me as rather peculiar, with nearly a dozen people hovering around each table, impatiently awaiting their turn and urging diners to finish quickly.

I inquired about this system with one of the staff members, seeking guidance on securing a table. To my surprise, he simply advised me to find a table where the diners appeared close to finishing their meal. Considering my 90-minute journey, I decided to give it a shot. However, after just 2 minutes of observing this chaotic arrangement, I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable about scrutinizing people while they ate and dealing with the constant interruptions.

Even if I had managed to secure a table, which seemed unlikely within the next 60 minutes, I realized that dining in such an environment wasn't an appealing prospect. Feeling disheartened, I reluctantly joined the takeout queue to enjoy my meal back at my hotel. Obtaining my order took an additional 30 minutes, as queue etiquette seemed to be a foreign concept to most customers.

Regrettably, the food did not live up to the lofty expectations set by the restaurant's reputation. The mutton had an off-putting smell, and the biryani fell far short of my expectations.

In conclusion, my visit to this restaurant left me thoroughly unimpressed. I invested approximately 3 hours in this endeavor, only to be met with disappointment. I would strongly advise anyone contemplating a visit to think twice before making the journey. I have attached some photos for reference, with faces blurred to protect privacy.

Very expensive compared other restaurants. Mutton biryani is about 300rs and you have to search for mutton.

I don’t understand the hype! The chicken biryani in my opinion was below average and honestly this wouldn’t be a place I would recommend anyone to visit. The waiting time was long and the items are so overpriced for the food they serve. The management was also rude and just shoved us off. Never going back there again.

Overhyped, exaggerated and poor service. No mutton pieces in mutton biryani, it was like kushka.

Food is average and same food taste is available in most of the Militory hotels in Bangalore, wont visit again.

Omg this place is really hyper by locale.and influencer.last saturday I went to experience this place first of all no management to tell or suggest for a place ro sit and eat and in top of that if we had to get a seat we need to stand behind the one who is sari g to get a seat.

We ordered chicken biryani omg to my surprise the chicken peice was so hard and dry I could not eat. And mutton fry I ordered only 3 peice for 290/- and 2 bones no meat. Very disappointed

Last but not the least very bad hygiene.the cockroach was moving on the table.yuck

Briyani rice is slightly more of lemon rice. Half cooked chicken pieces. Mutton dry is good one with heavy spicy. Crowd management is worst. Please don’t come with family to suffer.

Well, some days biryani is extremely good and sometimes it is absolutely DISGUSTING AND HORRIBLE. They don’t have the consistency to maintain the same taste throughout. Try it at your own risk!

I am a doctor working in the hospital, and I have treated a patient who is suffering from HIV. I saw this HIV-positive person in the kitchen of a hotel, where they were cutting vegetables and preparing food for customers. This is very concerning, as it can lead to health problems for the customers. We should report this situation to the health department the restaurant and inform them about the presence of HIV patients working in the kitchen. I strongly advise against visiting this hotel, as it can pose serious health risks. As soon as I saw these patients, I immediately left the restaurant and reported the situation to health department. It is clear that the owners of this restaurant do not care about the well-being of normal people; all they care about is making money. Please help spread the word about this restaurant and the cruel actions of the owners, who are playing with the lives of common people. Let's raise awareness about this restaurant in Bengaluru.

The food was very tatsy, but you had to wait for a long time 30 to 40 min then you will get a chair to seat, the crowd was huge

Food is good, If you're into Karnataka style Donne Biryani this is the place, But it is always overcrowded especially on weekends we arrived at the place on a Sunday early at 10 for lunch yet we have to wait for the table.

They don't even deserve this single. One of the worst delivery experience. Placed an order to gift a plant in birthday which is already paid. Delivery guy delivered and after a minute he came back saying it is POD.they don't have POD option and how can we place order in this option. He took the plant and left. Pathetic experience. Will never use their service again and will not recommend

Really pathetic Service. They accepted my order couple of days back and made the payment, but at the time of delivery, they sent a mail that my order cannot be delivered as my area is not serviceable even though it's in the heart of Bangalore city. They collected the payment upfront and did not have courtesy to call and check whether the area is serviceable or not atleast a day before the delivery.

Customer service is pretty bad and they really don't know how to run the business. Shoddy work and very pathetic service. Don't recommend to place any order in their website. It is not at all serviceable. Waste of time and money

Excellant Maratha masala spicy Biryani. Best is to take away packed food as the place is so crowded that enjoying your meal peacefully sitting there is ruled out.

I am first time visiter to this hotel after so much of hype seen in social media no proper management I was waiting for than an hour they are saying food is being prepared after an hour they served the taste is normal and no pieces in the Biryani there is proper order system whatever they bring we need to eat it is such a idiotic thing and forced marketing I have experienced and waiting behind the chairs to reserve seat is very embarassing. The rates are very high not worth the money such a horrible experience those who have lot of patience can visit the hotel others please avoid

I seriously don't understand why so much hype to this biryani hotel. They don't taste and number of mutton pieces are just 2 or 3. We ordered all dry and for both leg piece and chicken curry it was same gravy with more salt added. Mutton pepper and no essence of mutton flavor at all. Every biryani corner should get training from Mallika Biryani. They are the best and Venkatesh does not compromise on taste and mutton pieces. Very disappointing after visiting Shivaji military hotel.

Very badly managed, and they want the customer's to wait and they need to change the timings as their food is never ready on time and people end up waiting for hours and waste their time.

Food is always awesome but the place is crowed, they need to extend the place to make large crowd comfortable and they don't start as per the timing, they have mentioned 8: 00AM and start around 11: 00 in weekdays, but food quality is extraordinary

Mutton chops was good. Biryani not upto the mark. Seating is not taken care. Crowd needs to be managed properly as it causes discomfort for people eating.

Great spicy Maratha style cooking. Suggested to go for takeout as the place is so crowded it is tough to enjoy the food there especially if you are a slow eater.

OVERRATED AND HYPED
Post waiting for atleast an hour, we got to eat Biriyani.
Shocked on the terrible taste, attitude towards customers, unhygienic place and absolutely chaotic.
Agree, this place was a charm and worth the wait some 2 years back and created some mesmerizing mouth watering Biriyani.
But now it’s not even at par with any of the other “Donne Biriyani” places in Banagalore.

These people only serve chicken and mutton dishes. So, if you are fish lover, you should give a second thought. Another important point is huge rush during lunch hour. Eating place is tightly closed with zero outside air circulation. No air condition also, hence entire area is hit and humid with no fresh air. Recommend to go this place an hour before lunch time else you have to stand around the table in order to occupy seats as hotel staffs does not bother if you get seat or not. They will be busy in serving food who all are seated.

The taste is amazing. I keep coming here regularly. But every time I feel like a beggar waiting for the food. The owner wants the people to keep waiting and standing. Service is zero.

Mutton Pulav aka Biryani and Mutton dry was good.

Great food. Famous for Karnataka’s Donne special biryani served for almost 85+ years. Must try mutton biryani, mutton pepper fry, and chicken biryani. Love the mutton dishes the most here. Food i will rate as 5/5. But the worst thing here is the dine, people will be standing next to you even before you finish. Heavy crowded every single day over weekend. Very unpleasant dine experience (1/5).

Keep all these away, this is the must visit place for non-vegg food lovers in Bangalore.

Food was yummy and my friends loved it too. Sitting arrangement is kind of old fashioned way. You need to experience it I believe in the end its worth to wait.

Visited this place after a very long time, my colleague at work mentioned this place and said mutton melted in his mouth, which made me to go here.

Pros:
1) taste is very good
2) very spicy
3) liked the gravy they gave for biryani
4) mutton dry and Chilly chicken were excellent

Now, I am sure that, everyone would be wondering why I gave only a 3-star rating.

Cons:
1) it's very spicy, not everyone might be able to handle it.
2) seating arrangements were very poorly managed, I don't like anyone waiting at the table for me to leave. I like MTR for this, they have a waiting hall and someone escort you to the table, as & when it becomes available.
3) people who regularly visited said that they have reduced the quantity and increased the price.
4) prices have been increased by 40 to 60 rupees, prices are expensive and in line with paradise.
5) meat was a little rubbery, it should have been cooked for a little while longer to make it tender and juicy.
6) cost for two can easily be more than 800 rupees.
7) they gave mutton dry (Rs. 220) & chilly chicken (Rs. 180) in a cup.

Place is over crowded and need to wait. The Mutton Biryani is served hot in Donne. The serving quantity was pretty big and very filling. Spicy Taste and good. Worth a visit and eating it hot which makes a difference. Tough to get parking in that narrow lanes. Service is good. Dont expect any ambience there. It's the very typical old style of building reminiscent of Shivaji.

It's a good place where the food is awesome.the people who love spicy non vegetarian food, this is the good place to come and dine in.

First off forget your dignity if ur planning to eat here!
U need stand in queue and next u to stand by the tables to find a seat (very awkward waiting for others to finish), later u need to wait to get ur order!
Taste is average, items are very pricey! Not worth it for the time, energy and fuel u waste to get here.

Its one of the worst experiences ever.the management is worst. I had to pay 200 for biriyani rice which I got in the parcel (even though I picked it myself). They really don't know how to manage.they give importance to only customers they know and it was pathetic we standing in line and following all d safety norms for hours.and these guys give parcels oly to people they know.

We waited for over 2 hours to get a table. Too crowded. People wait by your side so that they can occupy after you finish.

Food gets over quiet quickly as people come to dine in plus take away. We went for mutton biryani but had to end up having chicken biryani as we had already waited for 2 long hours. We managed to get mutton roast which was chewy.taste wise was good but the meat wasn't.

This hotel is always over crowded.but gives you a different experience while waiting for the table.even though the price is not reasonable they are good enough for the taste. The taste of every dish is top notch. If you are visiting this hotel make sure you don't have any other plan.you may have to wait for atleast half an hour for the table, especially on Sunday.

Waiting time on Sunday at least 3 hours to take away, you have to stand to get place for dining. Rates are higher than other military hotels.

I couldn't believe that I am having such delicious non vegetarian rice dish for the fist time; first of its kind. I would love to be here again n again n again.

Pathetic service, for both parcel and to sit and eat there. Had ordered for mutton dry (parcel) instead received chicken leg. Ofcourse you cannot expect a refund because you'll only realise it after coming home.
They absolutely don't care if they lose customers.

Quality is Ok. Be prepared to stand for 1hr and stick to a table waiting to eat as if u never ate in last 1 week. Finally 1 or 2 limited options asked and served. Nothing from menu is available. The most recommended Donne Biryani place in Bengaluru. If you want to try something different, this place is a much visit. You might have to wait for a while, but the food is worth the wait. I've been going here since 2014, the taste hasn't changed a bit, nor the crowd.

All meat eaters it's the only place for for hunting grounds when your really hungry. Best in the business. Weekends crowded bet u need to wait for the place before get to eat.

Am staying in n Bangalore from 12 years. I tried it today.it is ok but compare to Rajanna hotel in nagadi road it was after rajanna hotel only.in Shivaji hotel prices also high

One of the best experience we had so far. Quality is best in class. Cake was yummy as promised. They always maintained a schedule and they were on right time. Flower packaging is really professional. Highly recommended.

Please bewarwnof these cheats.they charge premium for all products. I paid extra for express delivery of orchids. I received roses 5 hrs after committed time. Worst part they do not answer ur calls nor do they cancel the order. Pathetic service. Look for someone else.

Basically no matter which order I place after some time I get a call saying that particular variety of flower is not available. So they replace it some other cheaper option.
Two times few flowers were withard. Despite of charging rs 350 for midnight delivery order was delivered before 11pm.
Similar experience multiple times.
On site they showed a flower arrangement with 50% discount on that arrangement.
When one adds that in the cart it shows original price.when contacted customer support, they said 'discount' is a technical error on the site.
It has deteriorated it's standard, it was not like this before.

Guys who are serving customer has big attitude and behaves with customers in rude. I started speaking in Kannada n he started telling I can't understand whatever you told in rude manner. I don't have any issues with hindi speakers in Bangalore but atleast they should have requested me to speak in English or Hindi instead of being rude. These guys are selling flowers and kind of service they should give is what statisfies customer not their attitude.

I visited them for a bouquet for my mother's birthday. They have a very good florist and are open to personalization of the bouquets and flowers. There is good variety and value for money.

Ordered the Bridal Bouquet. Picture of the bouquet shown was completed different from the one delivered. Friendly service to convince you place order and then disappointing delivery. Would recommend to change management or close shop as they would rather delivery garbage and ruin the occasion than be mature and admit they cannot make the commitment. Would not recommend you go here for anything.

Guys plz dont ever order from ferns n petals.if u order by 10 am in thr morning they wil deliver to u by 4 pm in the evening.horrible.

They deliver plants without roots and in a very small pot which hardly contains soil. I got the plant as a gift and it died in 3-4 days since they had sent only the leaves without root. Rate is too high compared to market.
