Shivekaa Homestay In Chikmagalur

Our Family Visited this place first week of this month, This homestay is surrounded with full of beautiful coffee estate, felt worthy visiting this place, food, Hospitality were good.

Best place for relaxation & for peace of mind, our family have enjoyed the delicious malnad style pudding, Thanks to the staff & Madam for making our journey memorable

We had a wonderful experience in shivekaa. It was very relaxing to stay amidst the nature surrounded by coffee plantations.
The hospitality of Mamatha aunty was very good. She made sure to enquire about our food specifications and accordingly got it arranged.
We had been to Bhadra reserve and we reached back the homestay around 4 pm by the time the lunch servings was closed. But Mamatha aunty made sure we were served hot Pooris, rotis and channa masala to apetise our empty tummies.

Totally a good stay at the homestay and recommend anyone to visit who wants to relax away from the city Hussle life without any network coverage, walking around the coffee plantation, enjoying home cooked food, campfire at night, gazing the stars etc.

We stayed for 3 days in the first week of january. The property is beautiful with lush green garden and peaceful atmosphere. Its a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate the rooms are well maintained and very hygienic my 3 year old enjoyed every moment of our stay as there was spacious play area and variety of games the hosts are very helpful and kind. The food was delicious! I would highly recommend this place

I had been there with my wife and kid. I must say I love the place and the people running it are very friendly and takes care of you very nicely. They are very warm and welcoming. Far away from the city Hussle and Bussle, its nice to just be in the lap of nature. Must visit this place again.

This place has a very homely feel. The people here treat you so much like a family. I have been going here for the last couple of years. It’s like a weekend getaway for me and my family. The food is amazing. The architecture of the building reminds me of my family home back in my native.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. Argumentative and arrogant host. She made racist comments and wasn’t accommodating at all. We asked for coffee to be given before breakfast and we were told that as per the rules coffee will be provided only after breakfast. She lacked the warmth that should be given to guests. The food was cold, very oily and tasteless. We were given torn pillow covers and muddy bed covers. The water was muddy. The service was poor and we had a unpleasant experience. It was a waste of our money.

We visited Chikmagalur in March first week and stayed at Shivekaa on 4-6 March. We had originally planned for mid December but had to call off due to pandemic.

The place is simply awesome and host (Mamata ma'am) was really wonderful. Since we left Bangalore on Friday evening, she checked on us multiple times so that we find our way without much hassles and reach safe before its too late as it is hard to get help in the hills late in the night. Food was great and authentic south indian, more so Malnad style food.

We got inputs on what places to visit nearby such as Muthodi safari, Mullayanagiri peak, sunset point. Most importantly, we were suggested short trails inside the vast coffee estate of the hosts, which is right behind the cottages. Walks through the estate was a wonderful experience and relaxing with constant chirping of birds, occassional estate workers talking in the distance! We could spot lots of birds both with in the estate and on roadside estates nearby.

We also visited a cave in a nearby estate escorted by a homestay staff, although with a bit of struggle (looks like the escort himself had not been there before and took inputs! But in the end, it turned out to be good, though a bit draining!).

We intend to visit again soon, although with an intention to just stay put in the estate rather than vising places, that makes things hectic.

Excellent Homestay! Very hygienic and neat rooms. Food was so delicious and very homely. Mrs. Mamtha was very welcoming and made us feel like home. Most recommended.

The overall experience is excellent and satisfied.

Pros:
1. Food provided is of good quality and vert tasty. Both veg & non veg (only chicken) options.
2. Informative land lady and helpful workers
3. Spacious stay
4. Big estate
5. Camp fire

Cons:
1. Too much of Power cut - backup can last only for max of 3 hours.
2. Cold water wasn't coming in the wash basin at the bathroom
3. Room needed extra cleaning at the time of check in and they did it on request.
4. Cash only payment are being accepted. Probably down to unstable internet connection.
5. No wifi as it is only available at office room and not on our actual stay. So, it is of no use for guests.

A nice homestay for a small group of friends and family. The place is quite clean and the owners are quite courteous. I love the ancient look of the doors and furniture.

We stayed there for 2 nights and it was a good experience up in the hills. We had yummy food and home made curd and milk. The jackfruit curry was something i tasted for the first time and I must mention that I liked it.

The kids enjoyed climbing up the little hill and playing with the small dogs. They also enjoyed at the game room situated over the parking lot. A pretty good idea.

We took a tour of the estate and enjoyed the ride in the tractor. We also went to the sunset point which looked beautiful. Our backsides were sore on the tractor but the view was worth it.

They organise a bonfire and you can sing and dance and make merry or just chit chat around it. Basically you can do whatever you want there but not trouble anyone as it is a lovely and serene place.

One of the best places to stay in Chikmagalur, the place is beautiful, well maintained with lots of space to move around, the rooms are cosy and we'll kept with scrumptious food too.

Great hospitality, finger licking Briyani… heritage stay with lovely wood interiors… best fit for family with elders, childrens and dogs…

If you want a place to sit back and relax, this is it. The place is beautiful, and the host is very gracious. The feel of the homestay is peaceful. Meals and snacks are prepared as per your liking and the host ensures you are comfortable. I've visited this place 3 times and I've loved it all the time. A must visit to chill.

We stayed for 2 nights in early Sep and thoroughly enjoyed the location and hospitality provided by the host Mamta Aunty. It’s ideal place with kids and pets and of course large families.

With its 5 rooms aesthetically built in and around the main house, and host Mamtha ma’am ensuring that only the best of the ingredients make it to her food buffet lineup sprinkled with her experiences of being a Homestay owner and life in general, served to you and your friends around a camp fire on those chilly nights, makes you truly feel at home away from home. We were 5 families with 18 people in all taking up all the rooms, felt the kids enjoyed the open spaces, play areas and quick hikes and treks nearby while the adults enjoyed a glass of wine in the gazebo in the garden. 2 days into our stay we all felt our rejuvenated selves leaving Shivekka with more memories to cherish and more smiles to share. Wonderful place amidst coffee plantation with cozy traditional rooms. Host Mamatha was made sure we don't miss home n home food. Good place for family.

I have been to Shivekaa Homestay multiple times with different groups - Family, Friends and Extended family too. This is a great place for relaxation and the location is amazing. You get to witness the mountains covered in total mist right outside the property and also the coffee plantation makes it even better. Mamatha aunty is a splendid host and very friendly so are her helps. It has been a great experience for us so far. The food also is pretty delicious and she ensures the guests are comfortable with the menu. Rooms are clean and spacious with enough ventilation which makes the stay comfortable.

Massive estate with beautiful treks. You can see peacocks on the way if you're lucky. Mamatha aunty will spoil you with her really awesome food and the weather and the campfire will make everything ever so fairy tale like. Will surely come back for more.
