One of the biggest and most famous temples in the region, but it's mostly too crowded

No proper help desk or guidance for non karnataka people. We went through the opposite entrance and were sent out to enter the queue again. Countries across the world preserve the culture and history by using multi language and audio headsets where possible. If you don't know Kannada unless you find a guy who understands Kannada and English, you are left to your own. Also, you only get only a second to see the idol through the mesh.

Our family had the most wonderful experience visiting the Shri Krishna Temple in Udupi. The moment we entered, a sense of serenity enveloped us. The temple's grand architecture and the tranquil atmosphere provided a perfect setting for our spiritual journey. The idol of Lord Krishna is truly mesmerizing, radiating a sense of peace and divinity. The prayers and chants echoed through the temple, creating a deeply moving ambiance.

लगभग एक घंटा पंक्ति में लग कर मंदिर के भीतर जाने का सौभाग्य मिला। मंदिर प्रातः 5: 30 बजे खुलता है। विशेष बात यह है कि देवता की पूजा नौ छिद्रों (नवग्रह किंडी) वाली चांदी से बनी खिड़की के माध्यम से की जाती है। मंदिर में दोपहर के समय प्रसाद बांटा जाता है जिसे ‘अन्ना ब्रह्मा’ कहा जाता है।

The unique feature of the Udupi Krishna Mandir is that the Lord is not seen or worshipped directly, but through a window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki. Udupi comes in first among the seven places of pilgrimages. Located within the state of Karnataka, the Udipi district was formed in 1977. Lying between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, Udupi is also known as the Parashurama Srishti. While the place is popular for the many famous temples and beaches it houses, it is insanely famous for Sri Krishna Temple, so much so that it is often referred to as the second Mathura. Annaprasadham was also so tasty. Since we went during weekend it was a huge rush. Please plan accordingly.

An ancient Hindu Muth which was established by His Holiness Sri Madhwacharya. Lord Krishna temple is there inside. The temple is open between 5 am to 9 pm. Surrounded by math and choultries where accommodation available for reasonable rates. Nearest Konkan Railway station is Udupi. Parking space available behind temple. Free food is served in noon to all devotees. Lot of good delicious vegetarian hotels near this temple. Good private bus service available from Udupi stn for Dharmastala, Subrahmanya, Kollur, Murudeshwar etc. Nice sea beaches Malpe, kaupu, etc. September to march is good season to visit.

Had a great experience. Queue was not that big problem cz it keeps moving fast. Many vendors to buy beautiful souvenir. I thought we will have less time for darshana but we can sit inside the temple and spend some time there beside lord Krishna, So relaxing.

Udupi Sri Krishna temple is well known hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is believed that Madhwacharya rotund the Idol of Sri Krishna in a large ball of gopichandanam. Idol is placed west facing and all other idols are placed west as well. All devotees must have darshan of Lord Krishna through the inner window, called as Navagraha Kindi and outer window called as Kanakana kindi. It is decorated by an arch.

Udupi Shri Krishna Temple is a well-known historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and Dvaita Matha located in the city of Udupi in Karnataka.

The daily sevas (offerings to god) and administration of the Krishna Mathas is managed by the Ashta Mathas (eight monasteries). Each of the Ashta Mathas performs temple management activities for two years in a cyclical order. They are collectively known as the Ashta Mathagalu in Kannada. Each Ashta Matha has its own deity which is called Pattada Devaru.

The Krishna Matha is known throughout the world for its religious customs, traditions and tenets of Dvaita or Tatvavada philosophy. It is also the center of Daasa Saahitya, a form of literature that originated in Udupi.

A small window through which Lord Krishna is believed to have given darshan to his ardent devotee, saint Kanakadasa. According to legend,  Kanakadasa was of a low caste and was not allowed entry to the temple. Undaunted, he went behind the temple and prayed to the Lord through a small crack in the wall. Pleased, the statue of Lord Krishna turned around and gave him darshan. Just adjacent is the Kanakadasa Mantapa, which houses a statue of the saint.

How to reach: Udupi is 400 kms from Bengaluru. Mangaluru is the nearest airport (60kms). Udupi is well connected via rail and road network with several government and private buses connecting Udupi to other parts of the state. Sri Krishna temple is walking distance away from Udupi city centre.

Heritage holy place, Very good temple but darshan arrangements is very poor, specially it's difficult for aged persons to pray properly.

Inside view amazing, once u inside in temple the water kola and Matha architecture amazing. Also there will be buffet prasada.

Very nice temple. The structure is very old but well maintained and very clean. If you are short on time then you can take the quick darshan by paying Rs. 100.

Very nice and pleasant environment and devotional air. Look for the crowds. Temple is well maintained and great arrangements are done for easy Darshan. Must have prasadam which is nice rice sambar and sweets.

Management is too poor, even after paying for shighra darshan the experience was too bad because of mis management and darshan of God is for very limited seconds can't have darshan again from far or somewhere, people come from too far place and allowed for hardly 2 sec darshan of Lord krishna

Great pilgrimage centre of historical importance. Vaishnava and Dwaitha sects predominant. Famous for 8Mathas' (mutt) and Paryaya every 2 years. Famous for its AnnaSantarpana prasada, almost everyday. Great for food loving and sightseers.

Temple unnessarily built long q lines. Previously can have darshan in few minutes from main entrance. Now they prefer tirupathi model in collecting quick darshan fees. Built long q li es for 2 to 3 kms up and down tough for aged peoples.

Temple seems poorly lit. But the Darshan was quick in free Darshan lane. Started at 8: 30 am for free Darshan despite reaching at 7am

Udipi's famous shri Krishna temple is so famous. Blissful and peaceful ambience, what a wonderful moment it was being blessed by Shri Krishna through a small silver plated window with nine holes.

Good place. It's a very nice temple. Also it is very famous temple in Udupi. I had visited there many times. I prefer you to visit the temple on Saturday. Because you can get a special meal on that day.

U can find inner peace in the serene presence of Lord Krishna in Udupi's Shri Krishna Matha. We are fortunate to see the Bal murti of Krishna here with a ravi (manth) in his hand, which was given to devi Rukmini by lord Krishna himself, as she requested him to see his Bal murti & his Leela of childhood.

Visiting temple is always so peaceful and the warmth you carry out is just a blessing. I visited the place a week ago and I am happy with my experience, the temple to very hygienic and there are 7 temples in krishna mata, it was an amazing day and we spent around 2 hours to visit each temple. In this pandemic they have volunteers who reminds people to maintain social distancing and to wear mask and all. I loved it. Well I miss the peace I had there.
I would like to thank the authorities for having the temple in such a good shape. It's beautiful

Must visit place when i udupi.people here are very friendly will guide you to the temple effortlessly, the ambience of the temple is very calming you never feel like leaving the place.people here are very helpful.they let me leave my luggage outside to visit the temple hassel free, there are many temples in the vicinity you can visit too! And the goo shala (cows they've there) is a must visit!:)

First of all my pranaams to Lord Udupi Shri Krishna and Shri Mukhyaprana. Daily thousands of devotees having Udupi Krishna Prasada. By the blessings of Bhojana Shala Shri Mukhyaprana. Thats why it's called ANNA BRAHMMA. In my student life daily I had my three meals in Shri Krishna Temple. Totally I am blessed.

Brilliant architecture and what an ambience! Most of the insides of this temple are natural lighting.

Food is provided presently to pilgrims, students, visitors/invitees and to the needy patients in various hospitals. More than 10,000 people are provided with free food everyday. Besides, the Sri Krishna Math has been providing free midday meals to nearly 32,000 school children in private aided schools under its “Chinnara Santharpane” scheme (as of on May 2019). The Krishna Math has also been providing healthcare facilities to poor people without discrimination of caste or creed by meeting their medical expenses. It has also been sponsoring several social, economic and cultural activities in Udupi region. This is evidenced by cultural programmes such as music, dance, drama, Yakshagana Bayalata, Tala Maddale and harikathas held almost every day by the math in their public auditorium.

Lord Krishna of Udupi is known as “Anna Brahma” because of the feeding activities at Sri Krishna Temple. Lord Vittala at Pandharpur in Maharashtra is known as “Nada Brahma” because the devotees keep singing bhajans there. Lord Venkateshwara at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh is known as “Kanchana Brahma” because devotees are known to donate there. I am nearing the end of my "Summer Stay" and will be driving my way back home. As I bid adieu to this decently civilized modern town with an array of windmills and solar panels all along, this town of Dakshin Kannada, is definately getting ready for the future. With dark hovering clouds of monsoon in the horizon, huge memories of lush green nature, deep blue sea, golden sand beaches at its best and civic sense of people lead by example, I just promise to return whenever the land may call, for now with a sincere salute to the land and people of Udupi.

Udupi sree krishna temple is a good temple with good ampience. There were a lot of temple and mutt around the sree krishna temple.

We will see the little KRISHNA through window, and the little Krishna was really a blissful sight

Good to experience the silent ambiance. Reach before 10.30am to have a hassle-free darsan. Closes by 11.15 for 45 mins for some Pooja's and there will be long queue. ₹100 special darsan also there. No dedicated parking available, you can park on the pocket roads to the temple.

Amazing temple. Beautiful architecture. Once you walk in its Feel like we have time travelled back to age of God Sree Krishna. There are plenty of space inside the temple and you can sit there and relax and it will give you an amazing peace of mind. Highly recommended and at least once in a life time one must visit this holy place.

Very nice temple. Srikrishna is the deity. The darshan is from the back side. There is an interesting story behind it.

Though always filled with people, it's a nice place.
If you want any items like copper, brass, steel many shops are based there.
The food given there is AWESOME.

Temple is clean and neat. Not much crowded but it could take around 45 min to complete our darshan. Single line queue and decipline is maintained in the temple. We need to see Lord Krishan from a small window.

It has a story that an un-touched/lower caste devotee was not allowed inside the temple/not allowed to see the god krishna. Just because of the devotion of an un-touched/lower caste devotee, Lord Krishna has turned himself towards the window to give darshan to his devotee. From than onwards everyone has to see Lord Krishna from the same window.

After darshan we also went for Annadhanam / Bhojanalay / Free Food. Food quality is good and serving is good. We need to sit down and eat the food, No table and chair facility at Free Food. This temple has Luggage room/Clock room facility, Foot wear stand. We can find enough hotels and restaurants surrounded by temple. Udupi railway station is just 3 to 4 kms from temple.

Temple also has Goshala / Place of cow shed. We also can visit Goshala.

We have visited this temple in the morning around 11 am.after darshan we went to Malpe Beach and from there to St. Mary's Island and back to Udupi Railway Station around 6pm

Murudeshwar and Gokarna are also the famous temple places / tourist places near by Udupi.

Usually very crowdy but vip lines available at a ticket fare. We were lucky to arrive on a weekday at around 9am and get a normal very satisfying darshan. Finding a parking space is quite a task here.

Staff was very rude.if you take quick darshan ticket also need very long time to get darshan.staff was pulling everyone.just get 1 second to see and pray.

Udupi Sri Krishna Matha is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to god Krishna and Dvaita Matha located in the city of Udupi in Karnataka,  India. The Krishna Matha was founded by the Vaishnavite saint Jagadguru Shri Madhwacharya in the 13th century. He was the founder of the Dvaita school of Vedanta. It is believed that Madhwacharya found the murti of Sri Krishna in a large ball of gopichandana. As told by Sri Madhwacharya, in his Tantrasara Sangraha, the murti is placed Pashchimabhimukha (facing West). All the other murtis in other Ashta mutts face west as well. Devotees always have darshan of Lord Krishnathrough the inner window, known as Navagraha kindi & the outer window known as Kanakana kindi, which is decorated by an arch named after him. A statue has also been erected. A similar window covers the immediate front of the murti and is called Navagraha kindi.

This is one of the very famous temple in Udupi. This temple had maintained the true culture of India.

Men have to remove their shirts and vests before entering the temple, any sort of Pammy is allowed, but no shirt.
Women's are allowed any clothing.
Overall a very good place is you want to explore Indian culture.
Free food is also served by temple authority.
You will find many shop outside temple to show varovar items for you house.
