No proper guidance for the entry into the temple. When you visit a long weekend the temple authority is only bothered about selling the entry tickets. None of them are cared for at least to guide. Even old age people struggle to find the way standing in long queues.

Onother one 100/-. Management is not proper here.

I had an amazing visit to the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore. The temple is perched on a hill, and the journey up there is quite exciting. You can either climb the 1,000 steps or take a vehicle to reach the top.

The temple itself is stunning, with colorful artwork and sculptures that tell stories from ancient times. The view from the hilltop is breathtaking, and you can see the whole city of Mysore below.

Inside the temple, there's a sense of spirituality and devotion in the air. I was fortunate to witness aarti, a beautiful ritual with lamps and prayers. It felt like a truly sacred moment.

Whether you're a tourist or a devotee, the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is a must-visit in Mysore. It offers a blend of cultural richness, natural beauty, and spiritual tranquility that leaves a lasting impression.

Ticket types are not available at temple premises. Occasionally announced on mic by Temple authority

We paid 100 per person for vip darshan, and still had to wait for 3 hours. Management is not good. There seem to be 3-4 options of prices and wait time. 300 per person after some wait they cancelled that day, but you will have to wait in that as well.
Once you have paid, wait and are at the entry of the inner temple there will be a combined rush of all lines and no one to manage so it gets bad there and you will just rush out of there in the crowd and one priest/member shouting continuously to everyone quick quick.

Amazing experience to have a visit to the temple. The way to temple is just beautiful that has lot of nature views. It takes time to get entry to temple due to rush at weekends and friday, I prefer to visit it on weekdays.

The Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysuru in the state of Karnataka in India.  The temple was named after Chamundeshwari or, the fierce form of Shakti, a tutelary deity held in reverence for centuries by the Maharaja of Mysuru.
Chamundeshwari is called by the people of Karnataka as Nada Devi (ನಾಡ ದೇವಿ), which means state Goddess. It is situated at the elevation of around 3300 ft from the mean sea level.
It is believed that Goddess Durga slayed the demon king Mahishasura on the top of this hill which was ruled by him. The place was later known as Mahishooru  (Place of Mahisha). The British changed it to Mysore and later Kannadized into Mysuru.
The Chamundeshwari Temple is considered as a Shakti Peetha and one among the 18 Shakti Peethas. It is known as Krouncha Pitha as the region was known in Puranic times as Krouncha Puri. It is said that the hair of Sati fell here.
The original shrine is thought to have been built in the 12th century by the Rulers of the Hoysala Dynasty while its tower was probably built by the Rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire in the 17th century. In 1659, a staircase of one thousand steps was built leading up to the 3000-foot summit of the hill.  At the temple are several images of Nandi  (the bull mount of Shiva). There is a huge granite Nandi on the 700th step on the hill in front of a small Shiva temple a short distance away. Believed to be sculpted in the 2nd century CE, this Nandi is over 15 feet high and 24 feet long with exquisite bells around its neck.
The temple is famous for the celebrations of festivals like Ashada Shukravara (ಆಶಾಡಾ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ), Navaratri and Ammanavara Vardhanthi (ಅಮ್ಮನವರ ವರ್ಧಂತಿ). In the month of Ashadha, Fridays are considered particularly auspicious. Lakhs of devotees throng the temple during this occasion. Another festival celebrated during this month is Chamundi Jayanti. This day is celebrated on the anniversary of the consecration of the Utsava Moorti of the goddess by the Maharaja of Mysore. On this occasion, the goddess's idol is taken around the temple in a golden palanquin.
The most important festival that is celebrated here is Navaratri.  Mysuru Dasara is celebrated as the state festival of Karnataka, called Nada habba (ನಾಡಾ ಹಬ್ಬಾ) in Kannada. During Navaratri, the idol is decorated in 9 different ways to depict the nine different aspects of the goddess known as Navadurgas. On the 7th day of Navaratri that is dedicated to the goddess Kalaratri, valuable jewels donated by Maharajas are brought from the District Treasury of Mysuru and are given to the temple to decorate the idol.
Another temple is situated at the foothill which is in Utthanahalli called as Jwalamalini Sri Tripura Sundari Temple. This goddess is considered the sister of Chamundeshwari who helped her at the battlefield to slay the demon Raktabīja.

This is favourite temple. Even though I'm in Bangalore, I used to visit regularly. And it is very powerful temple. The only thing is the person who works in temple they are very bad, they intentionally create the demand and they made us to wait.

One of the Sahkthi Peeta in India blessed to have @ Mysore, blessed to have darshan @ Navaratri
31 अक्टूबर 2021 23:43
Landmark destination for divine blessings of Ma Sri Chamundeshwari.

The temple staff inside the sanctum sanitoreum ensure that you stand in front of the main temple diety for only a couple of seconds. And the entrance to inner temple is very small, it tends to get so crowded that a push pull experience can't be avoided.

The drive to the hilltop is exhilarating. There is a dedicated parking. When travelling with senior citizens, one can get a battery cart organised near the car as the walk to temple could be very demanding.

On the way back take the Nandi temple route for a scenic and oxygen rich ride through the greens. Don't miss the aerial birds eye view of Mysore while driving down.

Nice views on the way to this hill, temple structure seems wonderful, didn't go to inside because of thousands of people are standing in queue. Money does matters here, rs100 will take you to idol immediately, rs30 will take you to there in few hours, free visit to idol seems to be a days work. Free food was served there which is great, no covid protocol is maintained here, parking slot is ok, most of the temple premises are occupied by vendors.

Nothing can beat the feeling of climbing 1000 steps in the early morning and getting blessed by Devi️

Hindu temple, Drive from Mysore town to Chamumdeshwari hill is amazing and scenic. Temple is well maintained and clean.
17 अक्टूबर 2021 14:10
One of the main attractions in Mysore for sure. The place cannot be skipped. The drive from Mysore city to this place is really picturesque with undulating ghat sections and from the top you can get a panoramic view of the beautiful Mysore city, specially after dark you can witness the Mysore palace in all its glory shimmering with lights.
They have now built a multi level parking for vehicles so the issue of parking that people faced earlier is now gone. Secondly you may face huge queues of people waiting to go inside the temple so avoid that you can go for priority entry which has two types one costing 30 and anothet 100 rupees, the latter would be the suitable choice if you wish to enter sooner.

One of the must visit place near mysore.
This is on a hill top and you got a great view from this hill top as well.
This temple appealed to me very well.
Gopuram looks good and gives you a great positive vibes looking at it.

Just problem with parking if there is huge crowd.
Couldn't get parking easily though there was not much crowd.

Check the temple timings before coming here.

Because it is closed from 6: 30pm to 7: 30pm

Temple closes at 8 30 again.
So you can have the darshanam from 7 30pm to 8 30pm if you are planning to visit in evenings.

A most visit place in Mysore. Amazing place to visit. One of the best place to visit with friends and family. Nice ancient temple. Many devotees of devi chamundeswari visit the temple. There is arrangement for paid darshan. Temple authority can make proper and disciplined arrangement for devotees booking for abhishek there is confusion and no proper guidance. They can make it more systematic.  You need to drive up the hills with good vantage points to see the Mysore city. Cars and buses can park close the temple entrance. Temple is well maintained and have special entrance fees for faster darshan. There were lot of nice souvenir shops around for shopping.
