There is a story behind this place. We all know that snake and frog are biggest enemy ever we saw in this world. Once a pregnant frog was walking in too hot sunny day in this place. At that time a snake came and give shade to that pregnant frog. This was one of the miracle. So by this miracle a small temple made here.

By looking at this pregnant frog taking help from its rival snake at this place, Jagadguru Shankaracharya decided to start his Dakhshinamnya Peetha here.
